A touch is good. We too would like an answer, we dont want a "No" But at this point (almost 10 months in AP) we need some resolution, one way or another.

Our last touch was the 6th.. I am hoping the email I sent on the 9th will result in a.. She needs to bring an updated medical" email response.. I dont expect a response until late this week early next...

2010 interview stats as of 8/10:
87% approved
13% denied
61% blue slip at interview
39% pink at interview
13% of the blue slips to AP

What does this mean? Don't be surprised if you get a blue slip at the interview... its common...but most get approved after all is said and done. of those denied this year, most were a result of a very short relationship with limited visits/documentation...
ScottThuyMaleVietnam2010-08-10 08:55:00
VietnamHCMC Interview roll call
calls or face to face investigations are not an always thing for those in AP...

Of those that were in AP last year that I have heard of calls or visits:
Calls:
Trinh Ly
Johncali

Two guys asking questions:
Lindal
John Cali

The only one of those which was denied was denied because of a previous petition issue.

For those that have been in AP for a while... look at how long those in AP last year were in AP and if they got approved... those longer term cases were approved... so in some respects its a good sign if the case has been in AP longer... if they are going to deny they find away in a shorter period of time.

Yes, that would be nice..the skin test would only take 72 hours for the results to come back, that what I learned. The hospital staffs said the turn around time for the sputum will take approx 10 weeks, so that would be around mid-October for us. Last year, the Police Cert would also take us a month too if it wasn't for someone her Dad knows whom help us expedited in time for the interview. This time, we will try to get it done earlier, hopefully before the results come back. I wonder if her family can pick it up for her if she can't stay in HN for the whole month?

We knew someone and had it expedited and courriered to HCMC... $$ in 48 hours.. but it took having us courrier ID's up to them... if her dad has a connection, they will give it to her dad and I can get the courrier # for her to have it sent to her in HCMC

Your case is progressing nicely, at least you know where it's going and not stuck somewhere. Hoping for the good news soon...We still have the Police Cert to redo, which will be expired next month. Hang will fly back to HN for that while waiting for the sputum results...wish they offer the skin tests at ChoRay thou.

skin test would save so much time... How long until the test results are finished? how long did it take to get the police cert last go? they wanted us to wait 1 month when we got ours...

Thats great news Scott. Its about time theres some developments on our cases. I called DOS today and talked to Chris, all he would tell me is our case is currently being processed. What are you asking to get any additional answers from them? Were so ready for this to be over.

Frank

Chris is a tool... he never tells me anything... My only luck getting info is being really nice to a few of the women working there.. sara is one and the one that answered today was awesome... didnt get her name..
Ask when the last update was... If it corresponds with an email or congressional inquiry, then you know what the update was... if not, then ask if they can see what the update was.. sometimes they cant... in some cases it depends on who is answering.. an example would be when I called last week and they said updated last monday 8/2 but they could not say what was updated... kind of like the touches we saw at USCIS. I am finding 10AM est has been a good time to get through quick lately..

Thuy is at the pagoda now praying.. It would be awesome if they called her later today...

Edit.. Rose can also be helpful at DoS but not to the extent as some others.. her hispanic accent can be difficult to understand some days...

DoS says that as of last Friday we are undergoing final review and that our police cert is missing (the congressman actually inquired for me months ago to be sure that it was received and no issues present and they responded confirming AOK) and the medical is expired (we knew this). hopefully this week the letter will be sent or a call will finally be made..

Just talked to Thuy and there were two men from the consulate at her address in HaNoi yesterday asking the building manager and 4 neighbors questions and had them sign affidavits about Thuys living alone. She said she kept 4 copies of the Police certificate as she had them give her 5 when she got it done just in case...

Yes... There are a few that know the system and can dig through some pages to see additional details that Chris (the guy who answered mine today/ worthless IMO) says is unavailable... Sara and a few others are spot on great CSR's that are really nice... They actually see a photo of the SO and sara has commented on Thuy a few times... its hit or miss who will answer... I called early today because I will out and about this afternoon and had to hold 15 minutes... busy lunch rush...
What can they see?
  • The last date of activity,
  • Any communication to your congressman or you,
  • The interview date and if a visa has been issued or not... when they see an interview and no visa issued.. they quickly say pending review or under review... some also say additional processing...
  • A photo of the Applicant and bio info of both parties.
it is rare that they can actually see what the consulate is doing because the consulate does not update the system unless something major is happening... When they did those interview calls to us a couple of weeks ago.. no notation was made in the system...

I dont expect to see anything happen in the system until the letter is sent to Thuy... aside from that I dont expect the consulate to actually update the system... Now the woman on Tuesday said that the case was last updated on Monday.. that sparked my interest but got me nowhere because she didnt know the interface well enough to navigate to see what was actually done in the sytem....

I called DoS today... They said that as of Aug 2 our case was pending review and no additional documents are needed. I have to wonder what happened yesterday that she did not see that caused the update in the system. usually it gets updated when an email or congressional inquiry is responded to... this is the first time that last activity was not communication with us... I guess any activity is a good thing... hoping to get the response "we sent the applicant a letter on %^&*"

I agree... Topics like this one and theothers that are pinned should have that ability... but it really depends on if the person creating it is going to stick around long term to maintain/update it.. Vietnam maintained the "going to HCMC" topic for a while but then he faded away... and that topic turned into a who is goig to VN rather than the interview stats that it started out as... I wonder if a topic can be handed off from one member to another if one is not around enough to maintain it.... to allow the editing without losing the rest of the thread by only copying the main page and starting a new one......

Scott, the sad thing is that even people who "know what they are doing" (as in what to submit and how to find out) like us are getting screwed over by the process. Now, for people who have no idea and who just fill out forms, they've got no chance. This isn't democracy; it's lunacy.

When it's all said and done, no matter what happens to my wife's visa, I'd like to create a document that charges that entire consulate staff (immigrant visa section) with fraud. Fraud for using tax dollars and pretending to do a good job and a dozen of other charges. And I want to mass-mail it to the NVC and all the addresses I can find, even offices in D.C. And I want it get it out to the major papers also. I'm going shake the hornet's nest to see what falls out. I want most of them fired and relocated and so on. Honestly, I'll do it.

This should help the system evolve into what it needs to be but I dont think it goes far enough... http://www.entrylaw....int_signed_.pdf

same copy paste response that those VN clerks will give when anyone emails a status request and it was the same my congressman was provided yesterday...

AP is an all encompassing umbrella when one calls DoS or NVC.. anything being done on the case is considered AP... If a case is denied and returned to USCIS it is also considered AP when one calls to inquire.... a far to vague label for the staus of a case IMO... but getting any real response or info would be nice IMO...

one new thing they added to the response to my congressman was that we were in AP to validate that our relationship was valid... funny thing that they did not ask for any proof of bonafide when we got the blue slips... but I did in fact load them up with a bunch of evidence of bonafide which they returned to her in May saying it had been reviewed... I truly think these clerks (not and actual CO) answering emails have no clue as to what is going on with the case... they just regurgitate a canned response to any case that has gone beyond the interview... inappropriate on so many levels...

Great news... based on the calls last year.. the cases were finished 1 week after the call... so we should know by Tuesday... Dont be surprised if you get those phone calls tonight or Monday night... or they may send an investigator to where she lives to ask around about you guys like they did Linda's hubby.

Looks like they are doing what ME thought and trying to clean house before the new CG comes to the consulate... we could have visas early next month...

I wonder if Bob or Terry or Ray have heard anything... I PM'd Bob but never heard back...

When I called today they said still nothing new since July 8 when they sent me an email... they keep telling me to try again the next day ever since we got the phone calls

they had 4 people making calls on our case all at the same time... I assumed it would be one person calling one after another... I was wrong with that assuption...... when the people that got the calls last year, they got the letter not long after... so if all goes as it did for them we should hear something...
I was surprised that they had those female VN clerks doing the calls and not a CO... that is wrong on so many levels...

ScottThuyMaleVietnam2010-07-20 00:33:00
VietnamHCMC Interview roll call
Well they just called me from the consulate. just before 11PM. I thought it was a loopy student calling way late with some problem... yep the call I have been waiting on for months... asked me so many questions... and after they got off the phone with me they called my ex-wife.. a few minutes later I get an email from the Ex asking me #######?. .. I'm not surprised they called her, but we were really civil when we divorced... not the case now....

I had just talked to Thuy less than an hour before they called, seems like they may have a few people calling.. they called Thuy.. over an hour of questions..just like the interview all over again... they also called her mother and talked with her son... as usual they lied about the pretense of the call...

We should get the letter in the next few weeks.. I will likely find out that they sent the letter when I call DoS to check the status at some point soon... The lady said she could not say how much longer, only that she had to give her worksheet to the American CO for processing... lasted almost a half an hour and I got many of the questions that she got at the interview... most straight from my timeline... some a few times over...

That was a pretty awkward situation now that I look back on it... a surprise call late at night when one is really tired, asking detailed questions about things that happened several years ago... no matter how much one is ready for that call... one can never be totally ready for it IMO... not that I'm complaining...

This will be the first time we have been to the consulate since I went in over 4 months ago to submit additional evidence they ignored at the interview... Thuy will be there this afternoon and I expect them to say go home we will let you know... but who knows.. maybe they will tell us the same as they told Ronnie last month...

The Demand letter that I emailed them last month got a response today and that will 4 sure be my last email as they obviously dont read them and or only have those VN clerks handling correspondence... pure copy paste BS... So much so that the Congressional Liason is tired of hearing the same BS... nothing he can do other than a simple inquiry...

I wonder if he can ask why in the inquiry and get a legit response...

Thanks... She was thinking 2 pm- and I was thinking 1-2 so I will get her to be there at 1 and that way she will be able to get it out of the way straightaway... hopefully we will both hear good news... The first flight from Hanoi does not leave until after 9 so the earliest she could be there is lunchtime anyway...
this whole ordeal is so unimagineable  ...........

She does not have a blue slip as the last time she went, they took the blue and did not issue another.. only said verbally we will contact you.. they sent her a letter when they returned the evidence I submitted in Mar but she left it at her mothers house... should have no problem going to the window with her passport and the HCM#

At least your case isn't sitting on the bottom of a stack on someone's desk.

Our case is still at the consulate. I met with my congressional rep on Friday. She's been making inquiries to the consulate for me for some time now. Brought her up to speed on our case and shes going to resend some dox for us and follow up with a phone call. Said she will get back to me next week.

Coolhand, like Scott said, I wouldnt provoke the consulate by emailing them like that. I email them then I follow up after they reply, it amounts to about 2 emails from me and 2 from them a month. Duyen has been going to window B once a month with both of our previous months phone records and chat logs. I hope some of us in AP can add some good news soon.

Frank and Duyen

Frank, this could be some of your problems. Every time you submit more evidence your file then the time starts over, and this can cause delays. I admire your determination, and I dont blame you, because with everything you are submitting if they try to deny you for lack of proving an ongoing relationship then you will be in the same situation I was in and easily able to prove that they knowingly lied in your denial letter. I just wanted to bring this point up, after all you are the one that has to decide what to or not to do, but it could be one of the reasons you have been in ap for so long. Jeorme
