Congratulations! That is so nice your wife will be able to attend the interview with you. Too bad she has to leave shortly after. Hopefully AP/AR will be short and quick - or god willing, non-existent.

We look forward to your post about the interview next week! Good Luck.

Well, It has been 10 days I have not heard neither from the embassy nor from the American Express about my visa. But according to our senator inquiry last week, My case is still in AP.

It's always possible you misunderstood or misquoted the caller. Again, American Express will have nothing to do with your visa process. They are a Credit Card company. Perhaps you heard "Federal Express".

Actually, AMEX has a bank in ISL that offers VISA application services. They work with the Embassy a lot. My husband applied for a visitors visa at the AMEX in ISL and picked up his Visa at the AMEX in Karachi. Unless the Embassy uses a Courier (TCS) to send his passport and visa directly to him, AMEX will contact him when they receive it.

Congratulations Pain07 - its been a long wait!

Ok, So I been reading this post or thread or whatever its called and its freaking me out, seriously. My mans from Pak of course, just sent in I-130 a month ago so Im just starting but I cant help but worry. My God, it seems like all the guys from Pak get AP! My husband applied for a visit visa twice before, got denied once, got Ap for like 8 months and then just denied...#######? Now I know they gonna put him on AP. He has a really common name and he lived in England for like 6 years; it seems like guys that travel alot n have common names get AP immediately. I swear to god, if we wait like 10 months or whatever just to get to our interview, n then they tell us we have AP, man, I'll die! 6 weeks my a*s!!! AP takes forever! Ok, so now someone shud say, don worry amanda u wont get AP n everything will be fine. Right? right???? ok maybe not :'(

welcome aboard.. good thing is you have everyone here at Visa Journey to commiserate with - it was about 9 months from Marriage to Port of entry for my husband. the waiting was super painful - here is where I tell you not to worry.. but he will most likely get A/P. Ive been on VJ for over 3 years and I dont remember any male pakistani being handed a visa at the interview. Good thing is you are taking the CR-1 route which means it takes longer, but he can immediately get to work and drive and all that fun stuff when he gets here. No waiting for months and months to get EAD and Green card (which can be very frustrating to strong men[and women for that matter]) Once he is here, you'll be so busy, you'll forget about all of the weekends and holidays without him. just talk every day and realize he is just as miserable as you . Be happy and loving each day with him.

there are some really good people on this board, post all your questions, concerns and progress - you'll get answers and support.

Hey Guys,

Does not really belong here, but this thread is where it all started for the hubby and I. I screamed when the email popped up on my screen. Nas thought I won the lottery.

Just under 3 years of my hubby being in the US, his 10 year green card was approved. Finally no more waiting (Until the N-400 in Sept smile.gif )

Good luck to all who are waiting... soon you will be able to wait with your loved ones on the next steps.

Hello! What is the # for ISL embassy and their email? Also DOS #?

Hello,
Its been a really long time since I called DOS, so I'll let someone else supply that - but here is the Embassy information:

http://islamabad.use...rant_visas.html

Immigrant Visa Unit
Diplomatic Enclave, Ramna 5
U.S. Embassy Islamabad
Pakistan

Phone: (+92-51) 208-2700
M-F, 12:30 PM - 3:30 PM
Fax: (+92-51) 282-2632
E-mail: pakivinfo@state.gov

Good luck - getting someone live on the phone is a once in a life time event. biggrin.gif I typically got hung up on in my visa days.

When sending emails, put the ISL Case # in the subject line and include the Case #, applicants name and date of birth with the question. But - be prepared for canned/scripted responses.

Dec 28, 2006-- USCIS approves, sent to Islamabad

Mar 6,2007-- Packet 3.5 sent
June 22, 2007-- Interview date, on AP
Oct 15, 2007-- First security check completed
Oct 23,2007-- Embassy calls my wife and asks a few basic questions about our marriage.
Oct 27,2007-- DOS informs me that we are on a second security check.
Dec 17,2007--DOS says that second security check has been completed.
Jan 18, 2008-- Visa issued!
Jan 23, 2008-- Wife receives visa!

Surgery update: My son was in surgery from 11:30 a.m. Friday until 4:30 p.m. and we had very bad news. The prior surgery did not take since his head was full of scar tissue and it was the worst infection that the doctor ever saw he informed me. The infection had eaten away more bone and they had to shave it down further so he is in alot of pain yet as of today. They did more bone grafts, donor tissue and rebuilt the ear drum, reinstalled the titanium inplant, etc. We are uncertain if he will have any hearing restored and will have to go back in two to three weeks for stitches to be removed. I will still have to limit my time on VJ and do come and read and check my pms but do not hang around to post like prior.

I will still continue to come and root all of you on and pray that you are all reunited soon with your loved ones.

Hello Ayesha,

I'm so sorry to hear your waivers were denied. :(

I don't really know what the letter means that the Embassy sent your husband. My husband got the same letter and got the Visa when he went back in - however, we did not have any waivers involved in our case.

Did you finish the paperwork for the I-130 all the way through the NVC? Did the Embassy get the I-130 (CR-1) application while you were waiting for your waiver approvals?

Good Luck with what ever road you guys end up traveling.
Laney

:unsure: Hello everyone;

Our waivers both the I212 and the I601 were denied in the begining of August. We will appeal the decision, but honestly I am so tired of all this immigration #######, it's been all together 5 years. Anyway, at the same time we received a letter from the Islamabad Embassy that says;

Dear Sir/Madam,

We are ready to continue processing of your immigrant visa application. Please come to the Consular Section, American Embassy, Islamabad , Pakistan on any working Monday between 8-10 am.

Please bring all of your passports (current/previous) and this letter with you.

Thanks, IV Unit

Does anyway know what this means? We filed for the K-3 and I-130, but only went to the interview for the K-3 which is the denial, the I-130 we did not go for the interview for, hoping that we could finish processing here in the US. I believe that the letter is asking us to start the interview process for the I-130? I dont know. Thanks for anyones help. Ayehsa

I don't wanna take any other airline coz I heard that at Dubai or in London they give you hard time at the immigration counter when you proceed towards US flight.

Hey Timeframe,
My hubby had a short layover in Heathrow and had no problems at all. A direct flight would be ideal, but if you need to save some $, a short layover might be nice in London or Dubai. You can stretch your legs.

As a fiancé(e), you are not required to fulfill this requirement at the time of They also do this in the K category too I think. It is cheaper to have these done prior to her coming to the USA and she can get a form from the panel doctor listing these as done prior to her arrival. I would double check to be sure but they do require the vaccinations or a list of them at some time during the processing.

Police Certificate

Hi all I just wanted to share with you my expereince in getting a police certificate in Karachi, Pakistan

My wife went to the police station in covering her town and in my wife's case it was shahrae-Faisal, Karachi Police station.

She was told to bring the following:

Photocopy of Interview letter
2 1X1 Photos of her
2 photos of two neighbors that can vouch for her character
Id card copies of: Her, Her Dad and both of the neighbors

Once all of the above were taken to police station she was given a form which asked for the following:

Her name, address and signature
Her Father's name, address and signature
The neighbor's names, addresses and signatures

She was given the certificate the next by the Police station

Sheesh!!!! I dont remember my husband having to do all that! They must have changed things..... I don't think I could get two of my neighbors to vouch for me in my little association...

ok, All this talk about AP & AR is scaring the &^%&^% out of me. With all these discussions, should I attend the interview with my wife just to make sure they know it is legitimate. I mean, I have everything in place, my case is straight forward, good job, tax returns, all papers in place without RFE's, Allahumdullillah, and a lot of evidence of a solid marriage will be provided (phone cards, wedding pics, honeymoon pics, itineraries, etc.)

How about now, do you think AR/AP may happen? Another thing, My wife's name is not common at all, not to mention she does not have one of those unisex type of names like "Naveed" "Shafqat" "Shafeeq", etc.

Hey, If me being there absolutely prevents AP, I'm there!!!! My heart goes out to those who are going through it, But I do not want to go through it. Inshallah, I won't, but can use some feedback.

I was there... he still got A/P. But hopefully it made a difference in the notes taken. I was very glad to be there and experience the interview and support him. Plus I got to spend time with him :).

I do believe the majority of K-3 VJ'ers attend the interview alone.

Thanks for email depre.

It's been so long since I called, so I do not remember the prompts - but once you get a human,, you will need the name, case #, birthdate in order to get the status. Do not expect too much more than "Pending" or "Complete" - if you ever get a "Complete" do yourself a favor and call back in a few minutes to see if you get the same answer.... that one burned me once!

So my AP starts from today. My wife was lilttle dissappointed as she wanted to go with me back to US and not any single question asked from her.

Mary is right, do not set dates. They will come and go and make things worse. After calling the DOS to check on our status at least 3-4 times a week for 3 months, I decided to stop the madness and call them only on Wednesdays. Funny thing is, even though I checked all the time, my hubby knew we were off A/P before me... the DOS customer service did not know he was off of A/P until the day the Embassy sent my husband a request to return to finish the process. I had to wait 2 hours for the DOS to open the morning after my husband called with the good news to confirm the security clearance finale.

I can't find the number for the Dept of State that I used to call... hopefully someone here will have it. After about 2 weeks you can call and find out how the sec check is going. Don't expect too many details.. more like "The case is still pending"

Good luck.. hope it goes fast for you guys!
