Asia: East and PacificUS to Thailand calling card - best quality
I've had good luck with Pingo.com. 3.3 cents a min, .98 per month service charge, and 1 min increments. That can make quite a difference if every call is rounded off to 3 min. increments as are many cards. There are occasional blips but all in all it's been good. All is done online and you can check your call history, balance, everything at the website anytime.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionPacket 3 questions???
Hi folks,
We should be getting close so I'm trying to get a headstart on the packet 3. I've found the forms needed thanks to some help from the forum. I apologize for being dense but I find the instructions very confusing.I've tried searching for this info to no avail so we would appreciate your help. Don't want to mess it up now!

It says to immediately send the DS-230 part 1 to the Bangkok Embassy. Is that all that is sent initially? Everything else is taken to the interview?? I'm assuming we can send this off as soon as we receive the NOA2.

Should we wait until we have the police certificate in hand and the medical has been done to return the checklist, or can we return the checklist while those are in process??

Verification of unmarried status. Is this required for everyone?Neither of us has been married previously.

Thanks in advance for your help and best wishes to all.

US Citizenship General DiscussionTravel to home country, which passport?
Thanks for the replies. S.D. I very nearly immigrated to New Zealand 10 years ago, I'm a big fan!
I'm sure she could complete the trip using only her U.S. passport. and as she'd get 30 days stay on arrival it wouldn't be an issue. No need for as visa. I'm going to advise that she has both in hand at each encounter. Should cover it. Thanks again and good luck in Aus S.D.

US Citizenship General DiscussionTravel to home country, which passport?
Hi all,

My wife attained citizenship in August and now has her U.S. passport, along with her Thai passport. She is traveling home this week and wondering how this will work. I told her to use her U.S. passport in Seattle upon departure, and her Thai passport upon arrival in Bangkok. The reverse coming home. She has the departure card in her Thai passport which was inserted upon her last departure from Thailand. Any first hand experience here with advice? Thanks!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow to mail Docs US-Thai?
Thanks for all the help!
I got the $35. quote from one of the local mail shops here in Ballingham,WA. I went to send it via Fedex but the $64. fee got me looking for alternatives. She is in Nakhon sri Thammarat which I'm sure is more expensive o get to than BKK. I'll try going direct to the post office. I took some of your advice and sent her the docs via email, along with a scan of the G325A that I had completed so she would have all the info at hand. Hopefully with the help of friends she can get them filled out and sent back to me.
Thanks again or the replies!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow to mail Docs US-Thai?
Does anyone have any good options for mailing documents back and forth from the US to Thailand? I'm beginning the K-1 process and need to send my fiance' the 325 and 129 docs to sign and write her info in Thai. Fedex wants $64. for 3-5 days, the Postal Service is the cheapest so far at $35. for 5-7 days. Not sure how reliable that is. I had no Idea it was going to be that expensive! Any better options?? Thanks!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresChanges in fees and service centers????
So what's different about "Direct filing" other than the fees and only having Cal. and Vermont service centers? Did you read the bs reasons for the fee hike! What a joke! "To enhance the security and integrity of the immigration system" . F'em! I'm going back to Thialand!

Thanks for the link!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresChanges in fees and service centers????
Wow have I been sleeping??? I've been researching this process for over a year and I'm finally about to send off my I-129F tomorrow. I figured I better check the USCIS website one more time as I haven't for awhile. The fee that was $170. is now $455. and now I have to send it to Calif. instead of Nebraska. #######!!!! When did this change take place??? As you can probably tell I'm not happy!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedurestotal cost, I-129F to citizenship?
Thanks for the replies! I was mainly interested in the filing fees but appreciate any input, it all adds up. I figured the I-145 would be necessary, didn't know about the visa fee.
I just discovered the fee increase yesterday, I had intended to send my I-129 package today but had to back up. I'm P.O.'d and discouraged and just weighing the overall situation. Wondering if it's really worth it???? Life in Thailand wasn't so bad and I'm increasingly disenchanted with this country!

Hi. I just want to ask if filling up the form G-325A is fill it up first in the internet before printing it out, except the signature and date? Or u can print it out first and fill it up through handwritten? Thanks wink.gif

Either will work but typing it first is better IMO, that's what I did. Less chance of printing error.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHello...A couple of questions about I-129F
There is a "Sawasdee"thread on this forum for Thai fiance applicants. I did use my fiances' nickname on the application and was approved. Don't know if it's necessary? There is also a forum in Thailand that my sweetie frequents, in Thai for Thai people. If you want to PM me I'll ask her for a link and pass it on. Chok dii!

Hey Tingtong, I like your new avatar! Someone in the past jokingly said that it would be easier to buy your fiance a ticket to Mexico and have her walk/wade/swim across the border than go through this process!
My honey spends a lot of time on that that forum, I wonder if they know each other?

Good luck George and Joom! Have you visited the K1 subforum? Threads for the month you file so you can relate with people on the same timeline.

I don't have the address for the Embassy in Bkk Huge, it was posted a few pages back if I remember correctly? You can find it at their website or email them if you have questions. They have been pretty good with replies for me. http://bangkok.usembassy.gov

Congrats on the green card Sam!

I've seen mention somewhere in the past of certain immunizations that are necessary for the AOS or maybe the final step to citizenship, and that it's much cheaper to have them done in Thailand as opposed to waiting to do it here. Does anyone know specifically what those requirements are? I'd like to have them done and was planning to rely on the hospitals advice, but in lieu of Sqdnguns experience I don't think so.

Thanks Jamie, John and bigsky!

I am going to have her stay @ Ruamchitt Travelodge, close enough to the hospital and far enough from Nana.

Glad to help! Hope she likes it. I've spent lots of time there in the past three years. The new Chuvit Park on the corner is really nice. A big hello to Joom and Aek at the front desk from me(Jim).

Good luck with your interview Thaistyle! And congrats TMC on you sucess!!

Sqdngns, I always stay at a small hotel on Soi 10, Ruamchitt Travelodge. It's quiet and very basic but works for me. There is a really nice new park on the corner of soi 10 and it's really improved the neighborhood! There is another new place on soi ten, Cozy at Ten, it's small and overlooking the park. I haven;t stayed there but looked at the rooms and hey were really nice and new! Asok or Nana BTS stations are very near or she can just walk to Bumrungrat from there. I have never booked at Ruamchitt online or by CC but I think it's possible.

Asia Hotel is often reccomended though I haven't stayed there and they literally have a ramp that exits to the Ratchatewi BTS station. Walking distance to MBK. You can find Asia Hotel at any of the Thai booking sites.asiarooms.com, Sawasdee

Congrats on the interview date Bob! At least you have a date and know where it ends. I wonder why it's taking so long for the interviews? By normal timelines from the past I was expecting our interview to be this month. Looks now like it'll be mid to end of May. We sent our 129 in 9 days before you did and now we're about a month behind you. The difference between VSC and CSC . There are Sept. filers that still haven't seen their NOA2 yet! When my honey gets frustrated I try to point out that some folks aren't doing as well as we are and that our luck isn't all bad.
