US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionWhere to send packet 3?
Hey guys,

Just a quick question: I am nearly done completing packet 3 and will soon be ready to sne dit back to my embassy but I cannot seem to find the correct address to return the packet to! I have scoured all the info I was sent plus the U.S. Embassy in London's website but clearly am having a stupid day!

I don't want to risk sending it to the wrong division of the Embassy as that will waste valuable time. Anyone who has recently mailed packet 3 to the U.S. Embassy in London could you please let me know the correct address and where I would be able to confirm for myself that this is where I should send it.

Thanks so much!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionAbout to return packet 3!
Hello everyone,

Oh what would I do without visajourney? Due to my obsessive nature I feel the need to check things about 20 times before I send them. While I am almost certain I have everything compiled to send to the embassy I just want to be 100% sure! Here is what I am going to send back to the Embassy in London:

DS-230 Part 1: Completed with all supplemental sheets signed and dated
DS-156: Completed online and printed in duplicate, not signed as specified by the embassy packet

-Do I need to attach a photo to this form where there is a space for a photo?
-Where it asks 'Do you intend to work in the US?' I answered yes, and wrote ' Intend to work after marriage but do not have a prospective employer yet.' Does this seem like an ok response?

DS-156K: Completed but without any documents attached as specified by embassy packet
DS-157: Completed with all supplemental sheets signed and dated

I am also going to return the document checklist as I have everything required. I do not however have a DS-2001 as I know some other VJ members had. Should I download and send one? I was thinking of just putting a brief coversheet with my name, address and case number on it.

I think thats it! I'm going to send it recorded delivery first thing tomorrow!

Thanks all,

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionI-134 Affadavit of Support... Just how much?

The London consulate rarely requests to see the tax returns of those sponsors with 'regular' employment.

My husband had mine on hand but they never asked for them.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionI-134 Affadavit of Support... Just how much?

If your income is sufficient, you don't need to include $$ in savings accounts or other assets, such as your car, home, or life insurance.
I sent the employer letter, 3 years of tax returns, and the notarized affidavit of support. That was it. My husband(then fiance) had his interview at the London Embassy last summer.

Thanks for the suggestions! However, I thought the tax returns were only to be included if you were self-employed. That was my understanding from reading through the I-134 application.

Did you send away for the official copies of the tax returns? I have copies from my e-file of them and I'm wondering if that will do...

Hey everyone! I'm just getting ready to send my fiance the I-134 Affadavit of Support. Basically, I'm wondering if I've included the right/enough documents with the form.

Here is what I have:

~ A letter from my employer demonstrating my salary, standing, etc.
~ Letters from my bank detailing how much I have in my accounts
~ paystubs from my work
~ My original life insurance policy forms (an asset)
~ The title to my car (paid in full, an asset)

Anything else you suggest I include?

Any thoughts would be helpful!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionWaiting for an interview date...
Hey guys,

I just got back from my medical, it was so speedy..under an hour and managed to cost me just under £300! Anyway, I was just wondering how long most people, UK people in particular, waited to be sent an interview date after they had returned packet 3 including the checklist? I returned mine by special delivery just over a week ago, please tell me the wait to know when my interview is won't be much longer!

Thanks,

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionQuick evidence of support question
Hey guys,

I just have a quick question: on the final packet from the London Embassy there is a checklist of what I need to bring to the interview, and under evidence of support it states that I need to bring form I-864, however on all documentation up to this point it has stated that I will need to bring an I-134 and therefore this is what my fiancee has completed, had notarised and sent me.

Could someone just clarify this for me?

Thanks a million!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionVisa interview APPROVED!
hey guys,

I just received a reply to my email to the Embassy which stated simply:

The DS-230-1 is not required for K1 visa applications.

I stated in the email 3 TIMES that it was the DS-230 (part 2) and not Part 1 that had not been submitted. Is the term DS-230-1 sometime used to cover parts 1 and 2?

I am going to send an email reply just restating that it was part 2 and not part 1 that was not submitted.

But it seems like everything is ok I guess.

I was hoping to fly in the first week of September. I just hope everything is sorted by then!

its so frustrating when you think you have everything done and then an error made by the Embassy could slow things down.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionVisa interview APPROVED!
Thanks again for the replies!

I called the Embassy today and the guy gave me a special email address and code to send an email enquiry. I received an automated response saying that my email had been received and that a response was usually given in 3-4 days. Grrr.

So I guess its just a case of either waiting until my visa arrives or waiting for a response. I'm going to be so annoyed though if I have to go back to the Embassy or if my visa is slowed down by a mistake that they have made. I wish the guy could have just told me on the phone, but we all know what that information line is like.

Anyway I'm going to try and put it out of my mind and just wait for a reply.

Thanks again for all the advice and I'll keep everyone posted on what happens

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionVisa interview APPROVED!
Thanks for the replies!

Just one question, is the DS-230 part 2 needed at all after the interview? For example at the point of entry? Otherwise I'm concerned that calling the Embassy will just complicate matters when my visa has already been approved.

I may just wait 3-5 days and if I don't hear anything from the embassy and my visa arrives then I'll just forget it. Hah!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionVisa interview APPROVED!
Hey guys,

I had my K1 interview today in London and apart from a looong wait and a bit of a grilling from the consular officer it wasn't too painful and i was approved! woohoo!

Just a couple of questions though:

The officer did not look at, take, or make me sign my DS-230 part 2, and as I was dealing with so many other forms, birth certificate, I-134 etc I totally forgot and didn't realise until I got home. I'm just worried that this could somehow slow down the process if they realise that they don't have a copy of it on file or something. Has this happened to anyone else? Do you think this will be an issue that I should raise with the Embassy?

Also, when I was having my first mini-interview the guy asked me if i had ever had a US visa before and I told him I had had a student visa and he replied, oh a J1 visa and I told him that it was an F1 but I think I saw him write down J1!!?? I didn't want to say anything but it's really bothering me now!

Do you think either of these things are really an issue or am I just being stupidly paranoid and should be celebrating my approval!

I can't believe my visa was approved and I actually get to go and live with my faincee!

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionAR-11 Change of Address
Hi guys,

Thankfully I haven't had to post here in a while but I have a quick question. I will be removing conditions next year and am currently in possession of my 2 year Green Card.

Myself & my wife recently moved & I filled out the online AR-11 form about a month ago. After being very patient we still have not received our address change confirmation in the mail. Is there a certain time limit after which I should become concerned?

I've been thinking about making an infopass appointment but wondered if there was an easier way to chase this up? or perhaps some other advice or info anyone has?

Thanks so much,

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionEvidence in Our I-751 Packet
Hi all,

We're planning on submitting our I-751 packet this week and want to make sure we have enough evidence! This is what we have so far:

  • Joint apartment lease spanning Apr. 08 - Feb. 09.
  • Joint apartment sublease agreement spanning Feb. 09 - Present.
  • Joint tax returns for 2008 and 2009.
  • Copies of joint credit cards, plus printouts of online account pages and monthly statements.
  • Copies of joint health insurance cards and printout of online account page.
  • Life insurance policies showing eachother as beneficiary.
  • Copies of drivers licenses showing the same address.
  • Various utility bills or printouts of online utility account pages showing joint accounts and/or same address.
  • Joint car insurance policy.
  • Joint renter's insurance policy.
  • Copies of joint checking account cards and statements.
  • Flight itineraries, boarding passes and hotel bills from trips taken together (Jun. 07, Dec. 08, Dec. 09).
  • 4 affidavits from friends and family.
  • Various photos from our wedding to present.
  • Various birthday, anniversary, holiday cards addressed to us both.

Couple of questions:

  • Is it better to submit evidence spanning the period since our AOS interview (Jul. 08) to present, or from our marriage (Oct. 07) to present?
  • How many bills or statements should we submit? We were thinking 4 per year for each account?

Any and all feedback is appreciated! :)

Thanks,

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNOA2 question
Hey guys,

My fiancee received our NOA2 letter in the mail a few days ago and we are overjoyed! I have also just received the first packet from my embassy in London, hooray!

Just a question though: on the USCIS case update website it still says that our case is 'received and pending' and I never got an email version of the NOA2 even though I signed up for the updates. Also my fiancee said that the NOA2 was different in format to the NOA1, more like a letter, is all this normal?

I'm guessing all is fine since i already have the packet from my embassy but just want to double check if anyone else has experienced this?

Thanks!

We got our NOA1 at the start of February and have been trying to stay relaxed about everything, easier said than done! My advice for fellow CSCers is to convince yourselves that you arent going to get your NOA2 until about 5 months after the NOA1!! Then anything quicker will be a happy surprise! :)

This is how I deal with stress, by deluding myself. :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresG-325A Biographic Information Question
Hey,

This is my first post here, me and my fiance are currently in the process of compiling our I-129F package and I have a question about the G-325A form. I am the foreign fiance, and due to my family situation I do not know the identity of my father and have always been raised by one parent.

I just wondered what I should put where it asks for information about my father? Should i put unknown, N/A, or just leave it blank?

I think I'm going to call the consulate on Monday anyway to ask, I don't want anything to be held up for a small mistake!

Thanks in advance!

Hey everyone,

me and my fiance are compiling some of the proof of having met in the last 2 years and are planning to include copies of tickets of my trips to the US, her trip to the UK and any trips we have taken together. Just a question about the type of ticket to send. As we make most of our travel plans online we both only have e-ticket reciepts, no paper tickets, boarding passes etc. Are e-ticket printouts acceptable? or do we have to contact the airline and get paper copies of the tickets?

Sorry if this is a really obsessive question!

Thanks!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAlien registration number
Hello everyone,

First off I have searched the forums about this topic but none of them answered my specific question. On the G-325A it asks for a 'file number' beginning with an A and also an 'alien registration number'. Are these the same thing? I am from the UK and have visited the US before on a student visa, would I have an alien registration number? and if so, where can i find it? I have looked on my student visa in my passport and I do not see any numbers beginning with an A.

Thanks in advance!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresSending items for my fiance to include in I-129F Package
Hey all,

I realise that I am probably being extremely ####### about things but I am sending some documents for my American fiance to include in the I-129F package and I want to make sure I have included everything. My fiance will be adding items of her own, obviously the actual I-129F form, cover letter etc and items that must be completed by the US citizen, but she will also be adding additional proof of having met in the past 2 years such as eticket receipts etc.

I have placed all the documents in a folder organised into seperate plastic sleeves, here is a list of what I am sending:

First Sleeve
G-325A (4 original signed copies)
Additional information sheet (4 Original signed and dated copies)
Letter of Intent (2 original signed copies)

Second Sleeve
Copy of photo page of passport
Copies of Student Visa to enter US and Passport Stamp. (I met my fiance whilst on a student visa)
Copy of I-20 to enter US on a student visa
Copies of ID’s, credit cards and debit cards
Copy of birth certificate
2 recent passport photos with my name on the back

Third Sleeve
Copies of letter, itinerary and tickets of planned visit to America in March 2007
Frequent flyer program printout showing all previous trips to the US
Various etickets, showing that I entered and left the United States last year and that we took a trip to another US city together.
Hotel confirmation and email from our trip
Email showing my fiance's travel plans when she came to england last year (she will add the etickets)

Fourth, Fifth, Sixth and Seventh Sleeves
LOTS AND LOTS AND LOTS of emails between us (spread across 4 sleeves)

Eighth Sleeve
2 UK cellphone bills showing calls between us
I UK landline bill showing calls between us
1 US cellphone bill calls between us
5 used international phonecards

Ninth, Tenth and Eleventh Sleeves
US & UK bank Statements that my fiance will correlate with hers to show that we were in the same places at the same times (spread across 3 sleeves)

Twelfth Sleeve
Copy of a personal letter
Receipt for a package sent to the US for her
Movie ticket stubs from movies seen together
4 birthday & Christmas cards sent to me from my fiance
10 digital photo prints of us together in the US and the UK

THATS IT!

Have I included enough? Do i need more of one certain thing? Or have I missed anything out altogether?

Any information would be wonderful as its a very stressful process and I don't want to be hald up by an RFE!

Thanks everyone!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresG-325A - Questions about addresses!
Hey all! Thanks so much for your help the past couple of posts. Quick question about the G325A...

When listing your previous addresses from the past five years, can you simply put the address of the college you attended if you stayed there, or do you need the breakdown of every single address you lived at while you were at college? I.E. Can I put "University College, 1 University Way, Central New York, NY, 10000" (and the respective dates) or do I need to list every address I had while there (210 Freshman Way, then 306 Main Street, etc etc)?

I know that seems very OCD! But every detail counts! Let me know what you think! Thanks!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCan my fiance enter the US if his fiance visa is being processed?
Hey everyone,

My US fiance has spoken to USCIS, LAX customs and LAX immigration today regarding me travelling to the US while my K1 is being processed and she had the same response from everyone: There is absolutely no reason why someone who is filing for a K1 visa cannot visit their fiance in the States on the Visa waiver program. All said that a return ticket was enough proof that the non-US citizen intended to return to their home country but to bring some extra evidence to be sure.
I think that the case mentioned here where someone had the choice of returning home on the next flight or spending a night in jail is a pretty extreme case, and the majority of people will not have an issue IF they have the correct type of ticket and are honest with the immigration officials.

Hope that helps someone!
