Your message made me so happy ! We are waiting on our K-1 from Nepal as well. 7 months isn't that bad seeing how long others had to wait. I pray everyday for the process to be fast lol if there is such a thing. USCIS has had our app since 10/3. We have heard nothing since then. I havent seen my love since 8/1/08 but we do get to talk via web cam and email all the time. We hope since he has worked on a contract for the US DOD that maybe will help us out. We will see !! Good wishes to everyone who's waiting.. and for those that the wait is over for ... I'm jealous lol biggrin.gif

Your approved petition was sent to NVC and then onto the Embassy your fiance will be interviewing with. Therefore, they will have the documents you sent with the I-129f.

$131 USD is the visa fee your fiance will pay at some point. Again, each Embassy is different so it's imporant you understand how Nepal will handle this. He is so happy but he is also scared as he has no idea what is to come. I can't be there for the interview but he has all the things on the list provided to him at the Embassy in Nepal. He will do great. I have lot's of faith in him. I haven't found many people on here that had experince with this process in Nepal but I will post it once I found out what happens next friday !!

On the other hand, if she's had plenty of time to understand this is happening, then I don't have sympathy and think he's a mama's boy and you'd be better off without him. If that's the case, tell him that you'll call and withdraw your application.

Good luck! It's a hard choice for both of you. I don't blame these guys for getting cold feet. It's a huge change to leave your country, possibly forever!



Yes she has had almost a year to deal with this but she's picking now to start telling him she will die if he leaves. But on the other hand it's ok with her for him to go work in a war zone in Iraq. This will be it for me if he blows off and doesn't even try to call and re sched the appt then he has made his choice. I will ask him to call and at least try to re sched the appt.

I appreciate your listening to me vent.. this is heartbreaking. We are so close.

LOL I know everything your saying I have said to him. He will not leave his mother. She told him she will die if he leaves.
If he misses this appt in my eyes he has made his choice. My family has gone through a lot of trouble to prepare for this wedding. Has made many promises to my son and to me and now this. Does anyone know what will happen if someone misses or doesn't show for the interview ? My fiance's mother is begging him not to come. So he doesn't want to go to the appointment now. The bottom line is he will not leave his mother in Nepal for anything. She wins I give up. I have decided to withdraw the request but didn't know if it's to late now and if I should just let it get denied for no response on my x-fiance's part ? The same thing happend to me. We also have a lawyer. What they did is email Iraq (the incorrect country) let them know the situation (my fiance had been wking there but had left for Nepal in Oct). The embassy was very very nice and said no problem they would forward it to Nepal electronically. First they needed a note from Nepal saying that was ok. My lawyer contacted Embassy in Napal they were happy to send the note. Long story short .. the file was there and with in 2 days we got a packet for the interview needs.
P.S. I really had to get on the lawyers office they were not willing to take the time and do this. After a stern letter they took care of it for me very quickly.

thanks for the list, thats helpful to check against, though i have 2 questions. I thought the I-134 does not need to be notarised anymore, given that they have taken away the space for you to do it and you just sign it - or am i wrong? I hope I am right as we have not notarised it :-( Secondly I received my fiancees stuff yesterday. I am not too savvy on tax forms from the US, but hopefully she has sent me enough.. she has sent me three years of tax return transcripts. (2005/06/07) which look detailed to me..Do I still need W2's? She has just started a new job, but earns well above the required level - has a letter from work to say so and has a decent amount of savings shown by bank statements.. will what she has given me suffice?

I also thought you had to bring all the paperwork that was sent to USCIS as well ? If that's the case we are in trouble. Our lawyer has all that.

I did apply for email notification from USCIS about our application. We do have a lawyer so maybe that makes a difference or not on getting the information on "touches" to our app. On the USCIS site it says last update was 10/7/08. I don't know if that is considered a 'touch" or not.

My fiance interview date is 3/20. We are both very excited but also very nurvous. He has all the information on the ck list the embassy provided him. He did his medical exam already. Lot's of evidence we are a couple (300 emails, birthday cards, Letters hand written and sent, our trip to Germany in July 08). I can not be there for the interview as we are saving for the wedding in April. I hope this doens't hurt his chances in anyway. He is scared he has spoken to many people in nepal that have been denied visas. They of course didn't have enough evidence. We have plenty. I just hope my not being there will effect the outcome.

Our lawyer wanted to have a confrence with us to prepare him for the interview. This probably won't happen because of the time difference and he only has power for about 6 hours a day now.

I think he will do great with out the the prep from our lawyer. good.gif

I wish I would have known about this site before we paid 1K for the lawyer. They have had our money since August. We didn't have the correct type of pix so that held up the paperwork. I found that out ONLY after asking them how the paperwork was going or I would have never known about it. We got the information to them around 9/20. I dont know the exact date. I will ask if they have sent off the paperwork yet. If not they are fired and I will ask for all the paperwork to be sent back to me.

There is nothing strange about our case at all. In fact my fiance worked for a US company contracted by the Department of Defense. I don't think there will be any issues with his health or with his background. We were going to get married first in Nepal and do a K-3 but I think the K-1 would be faster and less hassle.
With the assitance of this site and all the great people on it.. I'm very confident we can get this done ourselves.

We applied for our K-1 (through a lawyer in the US) 8/3 but there was an issue with a couple of things so the rest of the paperwork they received around 9/18. My fiance is from Nepal and of course I'm from the US.
I will be taking a trip to see him in Nepal in mid December. Since I will be in Nepal we thought about getting married then but we dont want to start the process all over.

From what I have read on the internet K-3 takes at least a year to get approved. If we have to start all over again with the K-3 then of course we will wait.

We dont have any idea how long this K-1 process will take. I have read a lot of horror stories and a lot of great stories.
We paid the lawyer 1K to make sure the paper work is compete and error free. They have had the paper work 3 weeks and nothing has been done yet (there is a webiste http://www1.inszoom.com/ I can log on to and see where our paperwork is in the process). Am I just being impatient or what. We already send a lot of emails to the lawyer asking all kinds of questions.

There are a lot of people on here who have so much experience with this. If anyone has anything they can tell me to put my mind (and my fiance) at ease that would be greatly appreciated.

I have been reading many posts on here and I'm a little concerned now. I have read so many people have been to see eachother many times huh.gif . He is from Nepal and I'm in Washington State.
I have only been to see my fiance once since we met (4/07) I'm a single mom and he's a single father. We went to Germany back in July of this year for 10 days. We did get an afidavit while in Germany proving we were there plus we have lots of pix of us and his family (his sister lives there).

We talk daily on email we talk on web camera every weekend all day long and on the phone sometimes.

The US has had our paperwork since 10/3/08. So far we have heard nothing and I can't find any information on anyone dealing with Nepal on here.

DO we both go to an interview ? Me here in the US and him in Nepal ? We do have a lawyer and they are telling us the time line is about 5 months from start to finish. I'm afraid to send any more questions as it may cost us extra money.. I have already sent to many to him lol ...

Nepal is not one of them. The countries are not fraudulent. A high fraud Consulate is one that deals with a high percentage of fraudulent visa appications.

Your lawyer did not contact NVC before the petition left the US to have it sent to the right consulate. If you notified your lawyer before your NOA2 (petition approval) he probably forgot all about it by the time he needed to contact NVC to do this.

I notified our lawyer of the error. He said it was a typical error when people move that happens. I got a notice from the lawyer a few days later he couldn't get a hold of the visa center and would keep trying. I wasn't to worried about it as it seemed like a simple correction.
Well it seems he did not keep trying....the petition left NVC and went to the consulate that it was initially supposed to go to. It may be a simple corrections, but it should have been done to not incur a delay.

I got an email from the Lawyer (assistant) yesterday saying they would contact the embassy and request patition for removal and that would "TAKE A WHILE".
You may want to investigate this 'take a while' a little further. From what I've seen, it can take some time for the petition to reach the right consulate after it has been mistakenly routed. I would call NVC myself, and try to speak with a visa specialist. Give them your case number (careful, as this is no longer your USCIS issued number, once the petition gets approved at USCIS and sent to NVC, another number is issued) and explain your situation.

Has anyone been through this before ? I sent a letter to the law office asking how long a while is but of course I got no response from them as of yet.
Your lawyer needs to account for why the address change was not done if you notified his offices well in advance of this.

Perfect ! Thank you so much. It worked. They told me to contact embassy for Iraq 240.553.0581 once again I was taken in circles. They want an ext number of course I don't have one. I hit 0 and the call disconnected. It is 6:30pm there. I looked up the website for the Embassy over there they are closed until Monday.


Then, you're asking the wrong questions because the embassy for Iraq in the USA has nothing to do with your case. Call back and tell the operator your case number and ask how to get the case transferred to the right US Consulate or Embassy. If their instructions are to contact The US Embassy in Baghdad, you'll probably have better luck using email.


The number I called is in Iraq not in the US. I will call back as you said anyway and see if I get the same answer. Thanks for your help

I hit 0 and the call disconnected. It is 6:30pm there. I looked up the website for the Embassy over there they are closed until Monday.

Who or what consulate in Washington DC? If you are trying to contact the Nepal Cconsulate to the US then that is incorrect.. There is no such thing as a US consulate inside the USA....



I guess since it went to Baghdad I have to contact the Embassy for Iraq. I called the embassy for Nepal and they told me I had to to talk to the US embassy to get it corrected or to INS.

I ended up calling and calling the phone number (which was actually to a different country [mexico], not where our embassy is) and they were real unclear about when our Packet 4 would come (wait 60 days, wait 90 days, we already sent it...). Finally I just emailed the embassy in El Salvador and they emailed me the packet the next day. Then I contacted them about the interview date (instead of calling, as I had done about 10 times already), and they emailed me the attachment of the interview date/time letter.

This might help you too -- email the embassy directly and see if they can get you the forms faster, especially if they people on the phone say they already mailed the form and you haven't gotten it yet.

Hi guys!

It's been 1 month and 16 days since the day i sent back Packet 3 to HCMC. This afternoon Kevin called HCM Consulate to ask about it and they said they got my Packet 3 on 10th April. Kevin asked when we expect to hear from them but she wouldn't say anything just said him to call them again on June to check.
Anyway, it's nice to know they got my Packet 3 as soon as i sent back. Just praying and waiting for Packet 4 and interview date.

We are applying for both CR1 and K-3 in San Salvador.

WIth the CR1 we are at the last stage of just getting an interview date, but we keep calling and they keep saying they don't have the interview shedule, and to keep calling back.

Meanwhile...

Our K-3 is at the point where we need to pay $100 to the bank and call for an appointment for the interview.

In your opinion, should I go on with the K-3? if they don't have available interview times for the CR1 is it possible to get an interview for the K-3? Is it worth the $100 to try to get the K-3 at this point? or just wait for the CR1??

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionBirth Certificate: My Guy Has 3 Birthdays!
My husband also had a couple birthdays and had to change his name so it was right on the certificate:

He was born on the Catholic Day of the Cross (celebrated in his community and mother can't be mistaken) but his dad went to file for him late and they tried to charge him a fine for not filing sooner, so he just said his son was born 12 days later.

His dad took the grandma with him to register the birth and the grandma put her last name as my husband's last name. But at school he was known by his dad's last name. So we had to bribe the mayor's office to change it and his dad has to "recognize" him as a son. But we got it figured out and were able to get married! The name thing happened to his sister too.

I have yet to change my name to reflect the marriage, as I don't want to change my passport or visa application papers to confuse the whole process.

As is so happens, the embassy FORGOT to charge him the mailing fee, and they say he needs to pay it at a Banco Cuscatlan. So he went, but the bank near his home told him that he couldn't pay there. So he went the 3 hours all the way to the embassy to see if he couuld pay there (where he originally was supposed to pay), and they wouldn't let him in!!! They told him to call the embassy phone number (which is actually a call center in Mexico...).

So I called the mail courier people from the USA and they said to go pay at a Banco Cuscatlan, I told them they wouldn't let us, they said try another branch of the bank. So my husband went to another bank, and IMAGINE THAT, they let him pay. After 6 long hours of bus travel all for nothing! He should have been able to pay at the first bank!!

Now I wonder if this will slow down our getting-the-passport-back...

First congratulations for the successful interview :thumbs: second, but not in this order, Happy Birthday to you!. If he didn't pay for the delivery probably his passport with the visa is at the Embassy, tell him to call the embassy and maybe it is possible for him to pick it up.
