United KingdomVisa in-hand!

That's great to hear that everything went well. My wife just had her interview Tuesday in Colombia and passed quite easily without 1500 questions either. We're waiting for her visa to be delivered and I have to say I was a little startled to see her CEAC status yesterday change from 'Ready' to 'Administrative Processing'. I realize that there are some people in AP for months but I think our situation is more like your fiancee's (just wrapping up/finalizing her visa).

Again, congrats!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress Reportsmarch2013 fillers have someone get approved yet?

I received my NOA-1 on March 12, but as of today no email from USCIS letting me know our petition was approved.

So hopefully once the new center is opened at the end of this month, the I-130 petitions will start being approved much faster!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsInhumane

Inhumane is a very appropriate description of this whole process. I too scratch my head and wonder why it takes so long. If USCIS and NVC is so backed up, well we have quite a few people out of work - hire some of them!

I wouldn't have minded if it was the 5-7 month time frame it used to be but now it's closing on 1 year for us and for some couples behind us, it's taking over a year - yikes!

Hi Thisislife,

I heard that the first week of April will be the time when the embassies will be sending out new interview dates, so keep an eye on your email - maybe there will be some great news this upcoming week!

Congratulations. I am going through email and updating list.

Yes Colombia is pretty good. I believe tomorrow many should start getting May interview dates. So hang on. Welcome to the group.

So was your case complete March 7 or March 25?

Hi dwheels,

I initially sent in our petition for the visa March 1, 2013 and received the NOA-1 March 7th. So our Priority Date is March 7, 2013. I just received an email for 'Case Complete' March 25, 2014 so a year later...

May sounds good to me, I need so scrape up $ for two airline tickets still, so that would give me just enough time for that (ha-ha!) Nice to be part of the group here.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsApril 2014 Interviews

Greetings all,

I finally  received the email I have been waiting for since last March 7 when USCIS initially received our petition -

"Case Complete"!

Nice to see all the hard work involved in getting all the paperwork, copies of copies, etc has actually made it through without any problems. I was doing a little quick math combing through all the Colombian applicants to try to gauge how long from the NOA-2 approval to the interview. I received mine November 27th, so I don't imagine having to wait too much longer to get the final interview/medical email.

Also, NVC isn't really taking longer than advertised either as it came in just under 30 days from the time I sent in the IV packet to case complete so no complaints there as far as I'm concerned. Never really had too many problems with NVC, just the 8+month wait from USCIS to get the NOA-2 - yikes!

PhilippinesShortest time to receive Visa after Passing Interview

Every country seems to work a little faster or slower than the other - my wife's interview was in Colombia and not as many people there looking to leave as in the Phills. Her interview was on May 13th and we picked up her visa on the 23rd. So 10 days for us.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reportsdont want to wait another 4 or 5 months

I feel for you and completely understand how you are feeling. I cannot believe how long this whole thing takes. I also don't understand why they just don't hire more people with all the unemployment we have here. It makes your relationship stronger but it also puts it under alot of stress too. I Skype with my wife every day and try to visit every few months until she gets approved and can come to the states but it's obviously not the same as living together.

We're all suffering, so please keep that in mind when making any decisions. The people handling our paperwork ought to be ashamed of themselves to keep couples waiting so long. Hang in there!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresA word of advice make sure spouse attends interview

As my wife and I are a married couple until the end and have been together since 2008, I couldn't imagine not being there with her after all we have been through to get to this point. For those who cannot afford it or take the time off I guess I could understand, but I can only say that my being there whether I could afford it or not is not any issue whatsoever and knowing this was going to come to pass I made sure that going there is a possiblility.

I want to be there, my wife wants me there and we are a couple through good and bad. So if she gets denied for some silly reason, I want the interviewer to know I am a part of my wife's life - approval or not.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCan our visa be denied because we called the congressman after 3 months waiting for I 130?

I agree that questioning someone being "American Enough" or silliness along those lines is not really something needed here. I am an American and will ask questions regardless of how silly they may come across to someone bored that needs to give their opinion of someone on the forum here unseen.

Nice to see questions asked and answered however they come off as - after all, we are all here for the same thing.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhere is Packet 3 sent to?

Yes, you can get all the numbers you need from the NVC, fill out the DS-260 and all the other forms, even pay and schedule the appointments before receiving the letter.

I am not aware of anytime CDJ used a packet 3 and 4. As a matter of fact, they used not even have appointments. You were mailed an open appointment invitation letter. You could pick which day you wanted to go and show up early that morning, get in line, wait and have your fingerprints taken there before your interview at the consulate all in one day.

hah, makes me wish we where still on those days, things seemed to get done a lot quicker and with less pain...

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhere is Packet 3 sent to?

Nope we didnt put his adress, its a small town in mexico, they dont have street names. We put the city where he was born, and where he has been living the past 5 years but no actual adress, we put my adress instead so that I can receive it. I went to an office that does all this immigration stuff, and thats what the lady told me to put.

Oh I see. Well lets hope that letter arrives this week....

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhere is Packet 3 sent to?

Thanks for the link to your previous comments and links to additional resources. You are saying that for Mexico in specific, they no longer send an actual packet of forms but rather an acknowledgement letter indicating that they have received our case from NVC and they provide you with links to forms to be filled out and some other additional instructions right? If the consulate no longer sends forms tailored for an applicant's specific needs and they rather just have you download/fill out forms online then I guess we could start ahead and continue the process while the letter gets here. As long as we have confirmation that CDJ has the paperwork we should be OK.

I understand the fingerprint appointment and the interview appointments are made through a VISA website they got setup. Does this means there is no longer a Packet 4 being used?

A lots of processes are being changed lately is hard to keep up as the guiding documentation is not updated quick enough.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhere is Packet 3 sent to?

Not in our case, they said he wont be receiving anything, it will all be mailed to me. We didnt put his adress because we knew it would take a weeks for mail to arrive where he lives.

What do you mean by you did not put your Fiance's address. You had to. In the I-129F there is a section where it clearly asks for your fiance address in Mexico. I assume this is the address CDJ uses to send Packet 3... It they send some sort of notification too both addresses that would be a relief.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhere is Packet 3 sent to?

Hi there, can I get confirmation from you fellow members as to where Packet 3 is sent to? I am under the impression it gets sent to the beneficiary in the foreign country where the Consulate has the paperwork. I called the consulate and they stated that the packet was sent on the 17th of June. I then asked to what address it was sent and the rep. told me it was sent to my address (petitioner) here in the states. He did sound like he was doubtful though... Now why would packet 3 be sent to me when my fiancee is the one that will be needing that?

Anyhow, for those that have received Packet 3 already, where was it sent? In my case it has been 2 weeks and have not received nothing at either address. :(

Thanks....

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAnother 'Visiting the U.S. while filing I-130' Post. Need some advice.

This Wednesday (11/27/13) my husband (U.K. citizen) is flying out to stay with me and my family for Thanksgiving. The only recent travel he's made to the U.S. was in May, where he stayed his entire 90 days before flying back home in August. We sent out our I-130 in October, so there is still long to go.

That being said, I am a bit worried about him being let back into the U.S. after only being out of the country for 114 or so days. I know it's generally recommended that people leave the U.S. AT LEAST 90 days after staying 90 days in. What should he say to the immigration officer? I mean, he's got a return ticket set to depart in two weeks, though we will most likely change his return so he can stay longer. We're trying to play the long game here.

Should he say that he's visiting his wife for Thanksgiving? Will they know that he's filed an I-130? And if he's due to return in two weeks, do you think that's all they may stamp him for on his passport? Do you think it would be beneficial for him to carry a copy of the packet we made so they can see that he's trying to immigrate legally, if he's questioned about it? Ugh, I'm stressed. Please let me know what you think.wacko.png
