Friday is not over yet! I got my email at 6:30pm eastern time!
Ok, it's wrong for me to say that, you need to live your life, and not just wait.

Rachel, I'm sorry but involving Russ congressman won't do anything before the 5 months processing time is over.

Don't feel desperate, remember when we first started the process we all estimated the wait to last 5 months or so.
It will happen! Soon! Not soon enough, but soon!

I'm checking many times per day if you guys finally got it! I'll feel so happy when all of us will be done with this stage.

Today my man called NVC and we got our case number, but it just got arrived so they just said some generic sentence that it was processing and we should expect 2 to 4 weeks delay.
Hopefully it won't last that long, Paris ambassy is very slow, and interviews are like 2 months after they left NVC. My interview is going to be right in the middle of the holidays season.
Anyway I am so not ready, when I look at my appartment and when I see all the work that must be done to empty it... I get desperate too. smile.gif

Batta, you're canadian right, you are the beneficiary and he is the petitioner.
The package 3 is sent to you by your local ambassy.

Package 3 is sent by snail mail to whoever is the beneficiary.

Big hugs for you! It's ok, you can vent all you can, you're right, it's better you do it here rather then bitching at your fiancé.

You need to breathe though, try to think about something else. Keep your mind focused on whatever, find a project!
If you can check the status from work, then yes you're doomed. smile.gif

I couldn't sleep last night after getting the news, i'm like a mop over my desk at work.

We should talk about something else than this wait...
Please someone find a topic, I have no more brain cells for today.

Our Noa1 was on July 17th. And not even a touch yet.
I've started to put this "on the side", and I'm trying to not think about it anymore.
Or well, less.

We're still very far from our first expectation (late November)

I'm not very motivated to keep organizing the moving and stuffs...
Well bleh.

It's monday here already, hopefully this new week will bring us good news.

Batta, I don't want to disappoint you but from what I've seen they process RFE's in 2-3 weeks minimum and it can go up to 2 or 3 months. sad.gif
Well, let's keep the "best data". I'm afraid calling right now would just be useless. Everybody says that calling is useless anyway.

If you want to check how long it can last, you just go on Igor's list and look at the people who got an RFE and you can see when they actually finally got their NOA2.

I'm sorry but I forgot, what was the RFE about? If that is the unchecked box, I'd say it's going to last 3 weeks max.

It's useless to call them. Especially we are still in the 5 months window.
Well, you can still do it if it makes you feel better. smile.gif

As Kristin said, it can't last very long because it's obvious that the number of petitions have decreased and soon there won't be any backlog.
Last week, some people who filled in March got their approval, without any rfe, so well...

"Fortunately I have a driving licence and as far as I know I can use it up to a year from the date of my arrival to US. Which is not bad at all considering that in order to get an american driving licence you need SSN and GC first. And getting those it may take a while.
"

EXACTLY correct (at least for NC laws) - that is why I am having Dora learn now and get a license in Colombia - cost USD$170 and she takes lessons 2 1/2 hours a day for 4 days and gets her license! But she is learning on a manual drive in the streets with regular traffic - yikes!! Not even 5 minutes driving around a parking lot to get the feel of it. I'll give her more training once she arrives here, but it will be better for BOTH of us as far as freedom.

For me it was some 400 USD and I took lessons for like two weeks. Manual drive in regular traffic as well. Imagine doing that in a city of almost 4 million people (2 million officially and another 2 visitors and comuters) and probably the worst traffic in Europe. To be honest with you that's not bad at all. You really learn to drive. I remember the hardest thing to learn was how to hold a car up hill without having the car slide back. On a couple of occasions I missed it and stopped right in the bumper of the car behind me! blink.gif

As compared to that, driving in US is a piece of cake! rofl.gif

Imagine Paris... Manual gear too. 20 millions people in a old city with narrow streets.
Firstly, you have to take a written test (which is actually hard), that's 300 to 500€ (good chance you fail the first time, and each you pass it there's a new fee to pay yay).
Then you have to take at least 20h of driving lessons. You can only take those at a certified Driving School (robbers), that's 1500€ minimum. Same thing, if you fail the test (average people need to take it 2 times) you have to pay more lesson hours and a another test fee.
Aaaaand there's a 3 months waiting list for the driving test because there's not enough agents....
The french driving license is probably the most expensive one in the world.

TAKE HEART JULY FILERS!! We filed July 24 (NOA1) and got notice NOA2 Sept. 28 - 66 days!! (Vermont filing). Was quite surprised, as I didn't expect it for another 45-60 days. Now I have to scramble to complete the next round of paperwork. Dora is taking driving lessons now. It's much easier to get a license in her country than wait until she arrives here, and NC recognizes a foreign driving license and she will not be considered an NC resident, so she can remain driving on her Colombia license. (Just something else to consider in your overall plans).

Good luck to all fellow "Julyers". Kurt

I don't have a driving license neither, I live in Paris, there's plenty of transportation systems.
But here, getting the license would cost me about 2000$ so I'll wait!

Gosh, I wish we had filed 2 months earlier. As I'll still be living in France by January the 1st, I'll have to pay a special local taxes for the whole year 2010... Grrr!

And I'll be spending Christmas without my monkey, but I think we'll go on a nice honeymoon instead! Well, if we get no NOA2 by the end of this month, we'll change our plans and he'll come for Christmas.

RussAndRachel (btw who's speaking?), we feel a lot behind though it's been only two weeks since July people started to get approvals, it's actually a very short time. :x

It's not the fact we're "behind" that is the problem but more like the paranoia and everything that comes with it. If I knew when we'd get it I would be totally be fine. It's just we don't know if it's one day or a week or a month which is very hard to handle.

Gahhh AP sucks.

AP = Additional Processing.

Random packages get sent into AP. So instead of spending 3-4 days at NVC it spends 3-5 weeks there.

From what I read it seems to be very random, from a very few days to a few months.
I wouldn't worry for now, it seems to be quite common to be put on AP at the NVC stage.

Sometimes, I'm not sure that knowing all those stuffs is a good thing, we probably all tend to overworry... smile.gif

I hope this is going to be a good week for approvals, this last week was actually so-so.

I really pray for an interview before December. I hate the fact I have to give a 3 months notice for my appartment lease.
Those 3 months are going to be horrible... Just waiting for the end of the contract.... Bleh.

I'm becoming a real psycho, especially since I work on the web. It's like I finish one technical sheet, I check mail, another sheet, check mail again, and same cycle every 20mns or so. tongue.gif
Plus I started to be paranoid, and thought stuffs like "What did we do wrong, oh maybe I didn't put my proofs neatly enough, oh I knew I should have add this or that...!" jest.gif

There's a background check, some take no time some can take like forever...
Some probably require a feedback from whatever security organization (Like FBI, Interpol...) which can last weeks or months.

Hmm, there's the interview of a USCIS agent who explains how it's processed.

Well according to the number of petitions we actually can see on VJ, it's not so surprising that June and July are getting mixed.

Sigh, we both are getting very cranky, a good news like that would be more than welcome now.

Congratulations you two also. Although happy for you, it was tempered by us getting an RFE dated 9/21. I guess that I will have to wait for snail mail to find out what they wanted as the online case does not give any details. I really hope that this does not send us back to the end of the line and I will be anxious to find out what is missing. Given that we have been dating for 4 years, have seen each other 27 times in that time, submitted huge amounts of photographic and other evidence (that I got a buddy who had gone through the process check), I really hope that is something minor and this is only just a short delay.

Congrats all you folks again - the good news is that they are looking at a bunch of July filers right now...

Getting an RFE means they're processing your petition, it's a good sign.

RFE could be about a missing signature, birth certificate format, etc...
Hmm, huge amount of photos isn't so good, it's 5 pictures max. You know sometimes too much info kill the info.

Christmas is usually a no go because of the price of plane tickets. Thought last year, I managed to grab a cheap ticket on December 25th, it was fun to fly with Santa! smile.gif

This week end, he was at a wedding. I feel super lonely and left out here... And on the top of that, there's a huge water pipe leak in my building... sleep.gif

I believe you can always get a good deal on December 25th. That's when few people travel. A couple of years ago I got a cheap ticket to Europe on the 25th too.
Aja is visiting next month. I hope she will be allowed in. There's no reason she won't, but you never know.

I LOVED travelling on December 25th! Everybody at the airport was nicer than usual, everything went much faster. And there was extra chocolates in the plane!
And special deals at the duty free shops!

Oh as a nice rememberance, last time I went to the US, in July, I got upgraded to business class. Gee, when the air hostess told me I almost cried. That was so magic. Best trip ever. The big seats and the nice food make it so different!

I'm sure your fiancée will be able to get in the USA with no worry. Everybody makes it a big deal, many people ask, but I never see anyone being refused. Last time I went to yhe USA, I actually asked the POE agent if it would be possible, he told me there's no problem if you have a return ticket. He was actually surprised I asked...
I think the only troubles she could get is if the stay time is close to the maximum allowed, 90 days. then they become inquisitive.

The 29th to be precise! I'm so excited!!! At the rate Vermont is going now, it will all be a swift journey for everyone! good.gif

Oh snap!
Based on timeline data, your I129f may be adjudicated between December 6, 2009 and December 20, 2009*.
I'm not to November yet, but close! wink.gif

I'm starting to feel the weight of the wait now... I mean, it's getting worse... *sigh*

Welcome to Mike&Andi!

Good morning or evening to my July '09 filing family. smile.gif

Have a great upcoming weekend. luv.gif

Have a great trip! Stay in touch while you are gone if you can!

Awww, thanks for the wonderful wishes. Trying to get a little sleep before we go to the airport but have so much nervous energy. I just love our little group. And so excited about the VSC - it seems like they are still plugging along at a very good rate. good.gif

I hope you got some sleep!
I usually can't sleep at all before leaving, especially if the flight is early.
But the jetlag is a killer that way, the more rested you are the better you adjust.

Mooooooh, I want to go to the airport too!!!

Gngngngn.

We are May 1st. So glad we are all thinking positive. I know I get a little nervous when I see all the posts from people telling others how ridiculous they are for planning without the visa first. But it is difficult to plan a wedding. Glad to know many of us are in the same boat.

They don't say it's ridiculous Victoria. It's just a big risk to take. At each step, USCIS, NVC or at the ambassy, you can be put into Additionnal Processing, each AP can last up to 6 months.
It seems to be very common to be put into AP at NVC.

The risk is that you could get very disappointed by the additionnal process time and on the top of that, you'd have to deal with the whole wedding cancellation and the money loss.
That would be hell, and some VJ members are actually dealing with that. They took that risk, their choice, but they shouldn't whine about it because that warning is stated a few times along the process.

My monkey and I have no real family. The wedding ceremony isn't important for us. So no date here.
I wish we could get at least a little romantic wedding though, but the travels and the visa fees have sucked us completly dry.
I'll feel lucky if we can pay the AOS fee without worrying. So it will be a court wedding. Anyway here in France, you have no other choice but to marry at the city hall so...
It will look "normal" to me. smile.gif
