RICARDO THAT INTERVIEWER WAS A TERRIBLE REPRESENTATION FOR AMERICA

Anyone E-file the AP? Do you complete the form and sent the requested information later? How does it work?

Dee - did you e-mail the EAD?

Texasbound - I feel your pain. After what I just experienced at the embassy nothing surprises me. I DO hope you hear from them soon.

Okay. Here is brutal ordeal of our interview:

We arrive at the embassy early. We are let in 15 minutes before our appointment and there is no line. We are seated in Section A. We are called after about 10 minutes. We hand over the forms, his certificates and what she doesnt want she "throws" back at us. She asks for the Affidavit of Support I hand her everything. She takes the 134, bank letter, employment letter one years tax return and all three years of IRS transcripts and "throws' everything else back at us and tells us to go to section B.

We are called before we can even sit down and Ricardo is fingerprinted. We are told to go to section C.

We sit down and there are about 4 couples ahead of us. After the last couple if finished we are not called. More people from section B are coming over and they are being called before us. We wait for 30 minutes. We are finally called. We are sworn in and the woman tells me to go and sit in the the last row while she interviews Ricardo.

She interrogates him for 30 minutes!!!!!!! She calls him a liar 5 times, she asks him how we met, where we went out together and when we sex! She asks him if he knows how old I am (I am much older than he) when he says yes and tells her my age she says, "what is your problem? Dont you like women your own age?" When she asked him what I did for a living and he answered her correctly, she then asked him how long I had been a teacher, and then she made a comment about how he was just a little boy when I first started working. She told him that she didnt believe a word he was saying. She asked him why he loved me and when he gave her an answer she said that that wasnt good enough, try again. She asked him about MY phone bills for 10 minutes, why some of the calls were only one minute long and others were an hour. No matter what answer he gave her she wasnt satisfied. She grilled him and grilled him about everything. She even grilled him about his own family! She doubted how many siblings he had. She yelled at him and told him that everything that he was saying was being written down and she was going to catch him. All I could do was put my head in my hands and shake. When I did look around at the other people who were waiting to be interviewed their mouths were open and they looked more terrified than I felt.

The last thing that I heard her ask him for was pictures, then she told him to tell me to come up to the window. I just shook my head at her and asked her if she wanted pictures and she smiled this sweet, friendly smile and said, "no". She told him to sit down where I was and she asked me about 5 questions. She started with, "I dont mean to judge you but you are a lot older than your fiance. We see a lot of that here, these young Jamaican men just want a greencard. So, I want to ask you why you are doing this?" I gave her my answer very curtly because I assumed we were done. She asked me when he proposed and I said, he didnt, I did. She seemed surprised. She asked me if I had met his family, their names and where I worked and for how long. She then told me to tell him to come back to the window. She asked him if he had ever smoked ganja and he said, "no" and then she said are you sure you never smoked ganja, not even once? He said no again and then she reached for the pink slip and told us to go across the street to Airpack.

I still dont know if it is real. I am assuming that we were approved because we went to airpack but the joy of the approval was never there because we were still reeling from the interview.

I hope that no one has to go through what we went through.

My friends fiance went to the Embassy yesterday for the second interview. First one he did not have his police record so they did not get past that. She could not go back again so he went alone. Got in, made it past the first window, the second window, got finger printed, basically interviewed but was told there was a slight error with his file and to come back on May 8th. He asked what the error was and he was told not to worry that he would be approved but they needed until the 8th to correct the error.
What is that all about? No one would tell him what the error is.
My girlfriend e-mailed the Embassy today and asked what the error was and rudly they said only the interview has that information and it will be passed on at the May 8th interview at his "final" interview.
Final interview!!!!

Anyone hear of such a thing?

WOW SEAN WENT YESTERDAY AS WELL AND HE GOT THRU AND DIDNT HAVE ANY OF THE INFO.. IT WAS HELD UP IN CUSTOMS. BUT THEN ALL THEY TOLD HIM TO BRING BACK IS THE AFFIDAVIT OF SUPPORT. YOU KNOW THERE IS ALWASY AN INTERVIEWER WHO IS A ####### AND SORRY FOR YOU THAT THAT IS THE ONE YOU GOT. SEAN SAID HE HAD A PLEASANT MAN TO DO HIS INTERVIEW.

SEAN DID HIS INTERVIEW TODAY MARCH 27, 2007. WE WERE VERY UNPREPARED. THE FEDEX WITH ALL OF HIS DOCUMENTS NEVER ARRIVED, I FORGOT TO SIGN THE AFFIDAVIT OF SUPORT, I FORGOT TO HAVE IT NOTARIZED, HE OLNY HAD 1 PIC THAT THE DIDNT ASK FOR AND HE WAS APPROVED PENDING THE AFFIDAVIT OF SUPPORT. WE WERE TRULY BLESSED.

Welcome,

Our embassy experience is posted under Embassy/USCIS reviews. Wish I could be of more help but I didn't attend with husband so his "report" is posted.

It's always better to be over-prepared than under-prepared when dealing with Kingston. Include plane receipts, phone bills, lots of photos, postal letters and cards (if any), and any other supporting docs that can prove you have a legitimate relationship. And of course, don't forget the bank letter, employer letter, copies of paystubs, copies of bank statements, and three years tax history.

Hey Ten (Leo) (F) good to see you round these parts again

Interview help!?!?!?!
:help:

Can those who have went through the Kingston consulate pls share your interview experiences...

Our K-3 was just approved and I am in the process of gathering stuff now.

Do they ask a lot of questions?
Do they really look at the pictures ?
Ticket stubs?
phone records?

I am really stressing here I am hoping that we have enough evidence, and stuff....any timesavers or tips you can offer to make our lives easier? (F)

what a great idea. thanks

My suggestion.....have a file in your computer (or print the information and have a file) name your file
VJ info and everything that has been said that is IMPORTANT information and/or simple things like paying the $100 PRIOR to your interview and KEEPING the receipt (because you take that into the interview with you). You can pay ahead of time, we paid the day before. Keep that information somewhere that the same SIMPLE questions are right there in your "saved" file.
The process is very very cut and dry if you have the information all in one place, you'll be good to go.

Very good advice Kelly

you will need a new computer birth certificate not the hand printed one. it doesnt cost that much may be like 15 dollars us. it is the same info just a bit more up to date and more professional.

hi there wehave our interview on the 27 of march question.... when sean gets to the embassy he has to pay the 100 fee before he goes in for the interview? then where is it that they send him to pay after the interview? i read somewhere that money has to be paid after the interview down the block in walking distance from the enbassy.

The instruction form that is sent out in the packets is for both the K-1 and the K-3 Visa's. That's why you need to do your research and pay attention to what you really need. You have VisaJourney to help you - that's what it's here for. Do not rely on the Embassy.

I guess us "old timers" -- the ones who all filed and had interviews in Summer to the end of 2005 know all this stuff. We had the "luxury" of having people go right before us and tell us what was right and what was wrong. We all did a ton of research and shared openly what we would find out and we sent each other copies of the paperwork from the Embassy -- what we weren't sure of, we did both ways just in case. It's only paper and takes a bit more time to gather. "We" were never quite sure of what "trick" the Embassy was going to try to pull on us so we all went to our interviews 100% prepared -- and we all got approved the first time out.

The "Instruction Sheet" you get from the Embassy (Packet #3) is for all Visa's -- not just the K-1. They never bothered to update it. I brought EVERYTHING with me to the interview -- everything they asked for on the Instruction Sheet JUST IN CASE.

The fee for the K-1 is $100.00 payable at Paymaster before the interview.

The "profile" photos were replaced with "head on" shots the summer of 2005. If you ordered your paperwork from the USCIS (and not just downloaded it) you would have received the revised photo requirement. I did that in March of 2005.

All your forms should be typed -- just to make it easier on the people who are looking over them. Why would you not? Maybe I'm just too ####### but why would you intentionally make it harder for yourself or for the interviewer? Look at the amount of papers these people need to go through -- you might think your handwritting is excellent but to someone else it might be hard to read and that would just give them a reason to give you a hard time.

If it specifically says to put N/A -- do it. If not, use Not Applicable.

I'm sorry if you all think I'm a HUGE B*&$# but it breaks my heart to see some of you not getting approved for things that are really easy to deal with. They never asked for 90% of the paper that I hauled down there but I wasn't going to leave that Embassy without the approval. I worked too hard, lost too much sleep, cried too many nights and missed Roy more than I could ever put into words....this interview was the MOST IMPORTANT thing in my life and I did everything in my power to make sure we got approval.

It's not easy. The Embassy is not fair. But if YOU do everything in YOUR power to give them what they are asking for there is no reason you will not get approved. I'm shutting up now

Okay.
We did NOT get the visa. We didnt even get in for an interview. They didnt let us past the first window. We messed up on some paperwork and now I am kicking myself and crying my eyes out. I cant write anymore now but I will when I get home so no one else makes the same mistakes. :(

Even though the instructions said we needed $335 for the interview, they never took any money from Jomo. We didn't need that $335 till we applied for permanent residency here.

Fill out the 157 online too.

I did not have the letter from the bank or employer notarized. I DID get all 3 years of my tax returns notarized.

335 dollars is only for us CR1 Visa applicants :)! Not K-1

Hi all...well, I just want to start out saying that I thank each and every one of you for the help that you have provided along the way for our K-1 journey. As you may know, our interview was on Thursday, and despite our best efforts, the visa was denied--due to his admitted marijuana use from about 2 1/2 years ago...You know, a couple of weeks before the medical I said to him, if they ask you about drugs just say that you've never used them...it seemed fine then...he was like "cool"...but on the day of the medical he said that the doctor kept asking him had he used drugs in the past 3 years, and INSISTED to him that they would test to make sure....now, because I live here, and I guess I just know that weed can't be traced back any further than 30 days or so, I never really thought that that would be an issue...I just assumed that people pretty much knew that, but I guess not...unfortunately, he told them the truth because he was fearful that they would somehow find out and would deny him the visa...and for his honesty we have paid the price....I have never seen a man cry so much before in my life...and I have truly never felt more broken spirited and hopeless...I don't know where to go from here because I just knew that everything was going to work out according to plan...this has been the most devastating experience of my life....I wish everyone up here luck, and please please please heed the medical warnings---THESE PEOPLE ARE SO CANNIVING AND SNEAKY!! This was a hard lesson learned...I'm not sure what other options are available to us...we've talked, and we do both agree wholeheartedly that being together is what matters the most in the world to us...its just knowing what to do next (if there's anything we CAN do) that is the problem...like I said before, thank you for your well wishes!! I will definitely continue to post here and be of any help if I can...the actual interview experience-NO PROBLEM! Everyone have a wonderful evening and a good day at work tomorrow!!

OMG!!! I am so sorry to hear that. My heart goes out to you both (F)

LOL @ your honey and his fear of Kingston. He will be ok overnight. If you guys have the cash, try to convince him to stay at one of the following - each is right around the corner from the embassy. ( I slept like a baby as did almost everyone on this thread - no gunshots, no nuttin'!_

Also, my dear Henry stayed at the hotel but decided to dash home to St. Thomas the night before and guess what... it rained and rained and rained and cars were flooded and roads impassable. Iwas reading your post about your man going out and i read alot of the responses. but if im not mistaken,

no one hit on the fact that it cost a good bit of money to go to the club. and you guys cant afford it. he

needs to invest in an ipod or download some music from the internet. clubbing can wait till you can afford it

and right now you cant the money he spends on clubs he can put food on the table. now twice a month is

good but not every night. he shouldnt be sitting at home anyway there are alot of job applications to filled

out. i also think he should have took into consideration that you were tired and he should have wanted to

stay home and make you comfortable. i mean he hadnt seen you all day plus the fact that you and he

waited so long to be toh=gether he shouldnt want to be running to no club all the time.

i mean you guys just got married

hope this makes sense.

Damn, Ebony. It must be frustrating to be so damn close and they're still making you go through #######. Your persistence will get you through this.

My husband speaks great English. We are planning for him to join the roatary club. This club is a volunter club to help the commuinty out. He is also going to start GED classes at night. When I get home from work he can go to the night classes. He will also join a summer soccer league. Does your community have anything he can get involved in?

I HOPE I CAN FIND A SOCCER LEAGUE FOR HIM TO JOIN HE LOVES THE GAME ALTHOUGH AND HE'S A GREAT PLAYER HE'LL HAVE TO GET USED TO PLAYING WITH SHOES ON.

ebony sean,

ESL is a good way to keep you SO busy. During the day I too will be working, so I still plan on being online as much as I could get away with here at work. Anything that could keep my fiancee busy like having a bike available, family to come visit when they can, satellite tv for watching programs from her country, online English courses which she currently studies... things like that go a long way. If you could have lunch one day during the week helps. It's going to be different for them, but truely well worth having them with us. If you could during this summer maybe take 2 fridays a month off to stretch the weekend. I'm sure you'll find the right combination of things to relieve your SO of boredom.

IVE THOUGHT ABOUT ESL ALSO. I STILL HAVE MY BIKE ITS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION AND IM SURE HE CAN DO ANY MINOR REPAIRS TO IT. MY SCHOOL IS TOO FAR FROM THE HOUSE SO LUNCH IS OUT. WE WILL LIVE FOR THE WEEKENDS.

Best of luck!

eff

Since I hope to be moving either just before or just after he gets here, he said that he would keep busy around the house, painting, doing yard stuff, etc. I think it would probably be a good idea for him to walk around the neighborhood and get to know the area.

When is Sean coming? I hope the transition is a relatively smooth one. Let us know what works!

I FIGURE THE 1ST WEEK IN JULY WOULD BE GOOD B4 THE 4TH. I LIVE IN AN APT COMPLEX SO THERE IS NO YAED WORK TO DO. NEITHER PAINTING.
