Same as everyone else, three notices and a heart attack when I see each one on my phone!!! Ugh! I just know we will hear good news soon but I'm prepared to wait. Also, I went ahead and wrote my congressman and I have to fill out a form to allow them to inquire on my behalf (fiancé has to fill one out too!) I'll let everyone know when I hear something back. USCIS Service CentersDec Filer at VSC. Told file transferred to Texas

We filed for our K-1 on Dec 18, 2013. Last week we received the same two emails that many of you also received. The email informed us that our file was transferred to a local USCIS office for processing.  Since we were told by an experienced immigration attorney that this was an 'unprecendented' move, we became concerned and inquired through several channels.  We received information regarding our case which is now in Texas (not our local office). Texas is supposedly taking over many of the cases from VSC. We were told that Texas is aware that the USCIS is behind in these transferred cases. They are trying to expedite them to get back on track. Although we are skeptical that our case will get handled in a timely manner, we remain hopeful.  The wait is sooooooo hard!  Anyone else find out where their case is? Anyone have a case that was actually moved to a local field office?

USCIS Service CentersTransferred file from vsc to Texas got touched today!!!!!!

Hi All. We just received the same email. According to an immigration attorney this is an unprecendented action. My hope is that this will simply lead to a quicker approval than than the VSC is capable of giving currently.  But I wonder if these local field offices are prepared to do this type of visa quickly and efficiently???  I am calling my Representatives later today. And also the main USCIS inquiry number.  I will post any information I get.

 

Stay positive and let's hope we all get our approvals very, very soon!

we were approved (noa2) on june 19.  i started calling nvc a few days later. the nvc originally told me 10-15 business days. then a few weeks ago the nvc started telling me 8 weeks.  i have been calling them every day, sometimes twice a day.  we finally got our mnl case number today.  so it was one month for us.  hope yours comes sooner!

We were approved (noa2) on June 19.  Still waiting for case number from NVC.  I have heard of some people approved on June 18 getting their case numbers in the last day or two.  So we are hopeful that ours will be issued very shortly.  And yours should only be a few more days also.  When you call the NVC they are now quoting 8 weeks, but they were quoting 10-15 business days a few weeks ago.  The same old bureaucratic inefficiency...  Good luck!

We filed on 12/19/12.  Our file was moved to Texas in early June and we were approved on June 19.  (Now-Still waiting for case number from NVC.)  In our experience, Texas did their job and got our approval out fairly quickly.  Hope you get your approval soon!

I received this same email a few weeks before my decision was received.  At the time i was confused by it. But in my case, it preceded my petition being transferred from VSC to Texas.  Texas approved our petition about a month after they received it.  I can't be sure this is what your email means, but this is what happened to us after receiving the same email.  I hope this helps...

We were approved June 19th.  Originally I was told that it would be 10-15 business days for case number.  Now they are telling me 8 weeks.  BS!  My fiancee told me one of her friends that was approved on June 19 received their case number last Friday.  I may be calling Congressman again today.

I am under the impression that once you begin the IR-1/CR-1 Process you are unable to enter the US until the process is complete. I am going to Iceland for a vacation this summer and all connecting flights stop in American cities. I would go through customs at the Canadian airport and only be stopping over in an American city. Can anyone tell me if this is possible? Would flying through the States void my process or would a layover be allowed?

I am wondering if anyone can help clear something up for me. One of the stipulations in the IR-1/CR-1 application process is that the petitioner must make at least 125% above the U.S federal poverty. In my case, my wife (duel Canadian/American citizen) was born and raised in Canada and has never had an income with the States. We plan to move to the states and manage and run a store (that has not been open yet) with a friend. Her income in the US is unaccounted for, we will be quitting our jobs in Canada and the income from the store we plan to manage is non-existent as of yet; how will we fulfill that stipulation in the application? I am under the impression that if she files taxes for the last three years with and American accountant and it meets the criteria of being %125 above the U.S federal poverty that should sufficient but will they question how she plans to sustain that income and what sort (if any) guarantee will they need that our shop is successful and she will be able to maintain an income %125 above the U.S federal poverty?

When you mention an immigrant visa, are you referring to the IR-1/CR-1? I was also under the impression that I could not enter the States while the IR-1/CR-1 was being reviewed.

My wife (dual Can/USC) wants to study in America in September. We intend to file the IR-1/CR-1 but we would not be able to complete it by September. I understand that a non-immigrant visa is issued in situations like this, when you aren't necessarily intending to live in the country past a certain date. If I were to move to the states with her while she studies on a non-immigrant visa, would we be able to file the IR-1/CR-1 while we're in the country?

 

And is does the non-immigrant visa limit me so that I would be unable to work while my wife studies?

My wife, a duel US/Canadian citizen, has never lived in the US. Are we able to apply for the IR-1/CR-1 while she lives in Canada? We can begin establishing domicile (i.e. rental agreement, bank accounts) but she does not actually live in the States. Does she have to physically live there in order for us to submit this application?

 

If we submit the i-130, petition for alien relative, once that is approved, can a friend/relative who lives in the States be my sponsor for the affidavit of support? Or would my wife HAVE to be my sponsor because she was the one who filed form i-130? Can a friend/relative co-sponsor?
