PhilippinesHow to ensure you have a clear lungs?

drink milk. Drink ALPINE milk. Lots of it before the interview atleast 3 days to a week before. I don't know why, I have no scientific research to prove, NO VIOLENT REACTION PLEASE, but some of the people i know would do this and they are smokers. They pass the xray exams. One is already in NY :D

Them being smokers and one already being in NY, had nothing to do with drinking ALPINE milk. It means they tested negative for exposure to TB.

How can you actually put this in writing to this person! Drinking milk will NOT effect the outcome of your X-ray. Relax, and have your X-ray, either your clear or your not, nothing you can do except follow the instructions from St. Lukes.

PhilippinesWhere to get the legal Capacity to Contract Marriage
The Affidavit from the US Embassy is for the US citizen to provide to the local registrars office that they are eligible for marriage. If it is for you, see what the civil registrar office wants. Good luck.

PhilippinesSomeone suddenly is a bit cocky

Well, if your lucky, she got the names and addresses of the folk giving her advice.

That's gonna be useful, if there's a denial, as she can then sue them for monetary recompense.

Like that is going to happen in the Philippines. :bonk:

PhilippinesCERTIFIED COPY OF MARRIAGE LICENSE
There are two marriage licenses in the Philippines, maybe 3 if you count the church one. The two I know about are the Civil Registrars marriage certificate and the NSO marriage certificate. Are you looking to file DCF at the embassy? The Civil Registrars certified copy will suffice for the 130 petition, but you will need the NSO copy for the interview.

PhilippinesAnyone have experience getting work with a degree from Philppines?

I would be a fan of a 6 month caregiver course.  It would expose her to some basic experience, it would get her into some classroom settings and a certificate would be great for her self esteem and confidence.

She is in Tacloban and they have some schools there that advertise 2 year practical nursing degrees which I don't know what it really is - no websites. They also have a program called TESDA that has a 6 month caregivers license which is what I'm thinking she can do while she is waiting for her visa - at least she can get a little exposure.

Thank you all for your input.

PhilippinesAnyone have experience getting work with a degree from Philppines?

The education here is near the bottom of the education ladder.  They still require STENOGRAPHY in Business Management courses at Cebu University.  They spend more time in dance classes to prepare for the Sinulog than Math or Business.  Anyone that thinks the Education system in the Philippines is top notch is sadly mistaken.  JMHO

PhilippinesBringing cellphone to embassy

American citizens can drop them off at the entrance way.  Philippine citizens no.

PhilippinesWhat percentage end up having to take sputum?

We were just there at the embassy.  You do not need to be at the interview.  You will probably be asked to sit down while they interview her alone.  I saw this happen, the interviewer asked the USC to sit down while she did the fiance interview.

Sputum test percentage.?  Do a google search of how many Philippinos have been exposed to TB.  Extrapolate the answer.  If she has been exposed to TB and has scarring on her lungs then she will be subjected to the sputum tests.  period.  If she tests positive for TB, she will be required to complete the 6 month medication series at St. Lukes.

Don't go when you have a cold? Drink milk, take vitamins, apples, oranges, etc are completely are false and give people false hope and chika chika (gossip).  Know the facts and deal with them.

We just went through the 2 month sputum culture test, so I am speaking from experience.

Don't worry about being there for the fiance interview other than moral support.  I would suggest making sure all the things you can control are correct and just deal with St. Lukes as it comes.

Good luck.

PhilippinesBPI Routing number and Western Union

If I am not mistaken, in able to have an ABA number, the bank must have a physical branch located within the United States.  I don't know if BPI has an ABA number.  You might just send the money direct to your fiance and let them pay the bills here in the PI.

Philippinespaying for the other fees. who pays?

The USC should absolutely pay for everything.  You need to seriously reconsider this 'romance'.

note:  I am the USC in my CR1.

PhilippinesBuying fiance's ticket with airline miles

There is an old law on the Philippines books that requires redemption of American Airlines miles award for flights that originate in the Philippines that only the American Airlines office in Manila can issue the ticket.  If you know anything about the politics in this country, you will how that could have been passed. Been on the books since the Marcos era.  Crazy.  Absolutely.  But when you finally get ahold of someone at AA that knows what they are talking about, that is the facts of the matter.  I can't find the phone number but I do have the email address.  It being the Philippines it is hit or miss if she replies.  Her name is Jinky Torres I believe.  A google search may provide more information, the office is located in Ermita Manila I believe.

(salessupport@aamnl.ph)

I can't answer if they will allow you to use miles for another person.  The rules are just a little different in the Philippines.  I have originated 5 flights with AA miles while in the PH.  I was never allowed to book a flight originating in the PH with AA in the USA.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsDoes my fiance need to revisit ?
Your lawyer wouldn't give you a refund for any reason anyways. They are just covering their backsides. Read the different accounts on here. I have read many who have done the interview alone. The key seems to be is to be prepared with all the required documents and pictures and to be honest in your replies. Don't pay any attention to what the lawyer says, just mention that to one of the interviewers if you think it is important. Read, Read, Read. !!!!!!

Good luck.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsWhich DS forms need a Barcode?

Also do we include part II of the DS230 - not filled out and unsigned.

Take the part II, you will need to fill it out in front of one of the interviewers and sign it.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresChanging wife's passport Philippines

Wow! DFA Cebu told her that? Shame on them. Some government employees are real idiots.I have a valid passport under my maiden name, after I got our NSO MC I immediately renewed my passport. The guy at DFA (Aseana-Macapagal) asked why I'm renewing a valid passport, I simply said I changed marital status and I want to use my married name.

Exactly why we didn't change hers here in Cebu.

Hornet, you might try a travel agent it getting in changed to her married name. It might cost you a few hundred pesos extra, but they usually have a connection in the local DFA offices.

I submitted all the I-130 paperwork in my wife's maiden name. Her passport is in her maiden name. The lady at the embassy just suggested it all be the same from start to finish. We intend to change her passport in the US to her married name as it doesn't expire until 2016. Good luck.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPhotos question

You mean you pasted the photos on a bond paper then add captions?

No, I had the pictures scanned to .jpg, arranged them in a word document, added captions, saved it and printed it on regular paper. That is what I mean.

I also used regular paper and put 2 or 3 per page with captions. No issues with the USCIS in Manila.
