First, thanks for the service. I have a Niece in the Marine and a Nephew in the Army.

Second, you don't have to go to the interview and even if you go na for outside you go stay dey yab with others getting shuffled around by Nigerian Army people (they own the land next to the embassy and you no say our people everybody get him power). But it gives more validity to your relationship if the CO knows that you took the time to come with her for this important day (I am sure my Wife's own was partly because I was there since the CO checked all page of both of my passports). So you don't have to go, if you go they won't let you in but it's a moral/ego booster for her to know you are with her.

Third, did you check into military expedite for you folks seeing that you are deployed?

And for the expedite, No I didn't check it.
Ok but you know what? Navy is my first job in the us and I started in april 16 2013. I checked on my military pay website and realized that my first w-2 is coming out on the on the 24 january 2014 and I can file a tax with it.. that is the more reason I am waiting till that period so it can help a little. I already have my service record sheet from the navy indicating my pay and when I started and when my employment will terminate "2018". That's the only hitch. Till 24th Jan. Then I can go full force for expedite with a letter from the admin. You seem to be ahead of my game with good advice. I salute you

Mrs. Gowon said a week but this might be due to her planning her schedule from Ibadan.

We used Children Hospital both times. Don't bother getting shots ahead of time to save money, they'll still charge you and give you the shots anyways = naija tinzs.

March is actually a good time due to low fares (United) since the USC should be there at the interview (personal opinion and supported by posting on NairaLand from whom I believe was the IV section Chief for Lagos embassy).

Nice! Thanks Mr Gowon. Was initially thinking it will take like 2 weeks. If I understand you clearly do you mean I have to be present with her to give her support during the interview? Infact to tell you the truth I am in the us navy. And I just got to Virginia yesterday for my duty. With what I started hearing from them sef is giving me a concern.. they said we are moving around in march and we are stationing in spain for 3years from June. then I told them about my fiancee's case that it is something I filed since sept and that I didn't just file for her and I can't cancel it for that reason. I have invested a lot to it, time, money and even promise to her and I was always carrying her parents along. But they gave me a comfort that things will be fine that I should meet with the Admin by monday. They even told me to hurry things up so she can go with me to spain. I had to tell them immigration has it's own rule likewise us navy. But was told the admin can give me a good support and answer by monday. So in my own view I am not sure if I can make it by march for her interview even though it well help her so well.

We have a national police force in Nigeria so they are the same from Sokoto to Ota.

What you'll have to do is go to the state headquarter in Abeokuta. We did ours, and many others, in Iyaganku in Ibadan. They charged us and everybody else so far N5k. What they do is collect all the forms and stuff and send it to Alagbon. You will then return to pick it up in about 5 days and it will have the Alagbon stamp.

Others have reported paying only N3 to N5k at Alagbon getting it in an hour or so but my Wife and I don't really like Lagos that much so we do everything that we can in Ibadan. It's also good to share some of that immigration loot with our local economy. Abi na only Lagos people get pickin for home to feed? lol

Even though I sent a prefilled form out to my Wife, they did have the forms there. You'll be surprised at how much they know about the immigration process. Na our people we they talk about.

Mr Gowon thanks so much. This is my first time hearing that she can do her police report anywhere apart from lagos. I thought she has to do it at alagbon police head quarters lagos. She is from Abeokuta though. So now I can tell her to do it in abeokuta. And please may I ask this. Does she need to download anyform to go with for the police report at the headquarters in abeokuta? Dwheels this just crossed my mind. Does it matter if I only have two photos that show myself with her parents while she doesn't have any photos at all with my parents but she has meet my parents twice? Moreso she is going to visit my parents in lagos while going for her medicals and police report. Should she take pix with my parents as evidence even though I am not present with her right now?

Yes dwheels. I did get my case number and the DoS representative that spoke with me told me that they already received it at lagos consulate on the 23rd of this month. I called lagos consulate directly this morning as I woke up just to find out if they got my casefile. Thankfully someone answered me but she told me that lagos was almost closing as at the time I called them and that I should please call back on monday. But other than the Ds 160 form I filled I couldn't just find my way around everyother thing else. Thanks so much for your response dwheels.

Hello Vjs. I checked our case status this morning and it states ready, immediately I called DOS and they told me that they got confirmation already from lagos embassy on the 23rd of Dec that they received it. We already filled the ds-160 form. But we have not received any packet 3 from lagos embassy nor information in my fiancee email to go and book her interview appointment. My Questions are: 1. can we go ahead and book interview date or wait for lagos consulate update on our case.
2. This second question got me confused.. I don't know if I am to go to the embassy with my fiancee visa fee or go to "Gtb" a bank and pay to get my receipt to book for my interview online because I saw on the travel docs website that with the exception of k1 visa who should come to the embassy with their fees, all other non immigrants are to pay to Guaranteed trust Bank. my case is a fiancee visa case. Please help me out Dear Vjs.

Our file shipped from NVC to the London Embassy on 22/11/2013, was received on 25/11/2013 and CEAC was flagged as "Ready" today. Hopefully he'll get his letter from the embassy that tells him what to do next by the weekend.

for anyone who is still waiting for their case number. I read somewhere that it depends on country and/or individual cases. Some cases will wait at NVC for months and others will be sent out within weeks. So you really can't compare. Good luck everyone!

My case was approved November 14th and I am still waiting for USCIS to send my file to the NVC. I am wondering why it takes so long!!!! I already have money for the medical and the appointments. Two weeks is a lot of time to spend preparing my petition to the NVC.

hey! Luchiniski. We also got approved on the 14th of Nov. I called uscis to know why it has not be mailed to NVC yet and they told me that the waitiing time is one month. Then I wonder when has uscis started holding back approved application for a month before sending to NVC?. Well I think we have gone half way. Fingers crossed. Wishing all VJs well.

Just checked my status tonight and we have been approved..... am so happy because as at this morning it was rfe response review And then checked when I got back from work and it read initial review again only to check tonight and see post decision activity that we have been approved..... thank you all VJs and I wish all who are still expectant a great success.

I did everything on my own as well and this gets me worried too. I have checked numbers around me and 4 out of 7 have got RFE, while remaining 3 including us are waiting for update. This makes me nervous!

Don't worry happyfuture24. Just be strong. I know how you feel. I am also waiting. I filed on the 4th sept. Until 24th oct when they sent me a rfe that I didn't check the criminal part of I-129f form. Well I got it and sent it back to them and my rfe is in review. Still waiting for them for approval.

FANTASTIC NEWS!!!! Hooray! Out if the filers on this thread, who hasn't got approval yet?

I have not gotten approval yet.. though I got an rfe they never sent me any notification until I called for an expedite that I am going to be deployed soon. That was the day I received rfe notification and I replied them as soon as I got the the mail.. I called again to follow it up and made a secondary expedite (as the customer service called it) they told me to hold on that I will get a notification within 30days.

I got an RFE on the 24th of october and I replied them on the 30th oct. My status update then changed from rfe to rfe review.. still waiting for our approval though.

Sounds good but only show them what they ask for. So show them your I-134 and supporting documents first, if not enough they will ask you for co-sponsor, if they don't THEN you ask if they accept co-sponsor and present your brother's stuff.

Depends how tough the embassy is

My fiance had his interview today, I have been working for 9 months (above poverty lines) and he showed them my employment letter, 6 pay stubs, bank statements but they still wanted tax returns

He showed them my tax returns (2010-2012) but 2 of those years I was dependent on my parents, the counselor requested that my dad be a co sponsor.

thankfully my dad had already filled out I-134 form as well with supporting documents.

Always have co sponsor ready, you don't want to take any chances of being refused (or requested to send more documents)

I Will fill two I-134 one as though I am the only sponsor and the other with my Elder brother as a co-sponsor with his previous tax details and account statements. Then tell my fiancee to submit both during her interview. So whichever is deemed fit by the CO. He/she will let my fiancee

It will depend on what the consulate requires, as they can all have different ones. If you are going through a strict and tough consulate, which Lagos certainly is, then you should follow what those, such as dwheels76, that have experience with Lagos have to say. It may be a good idea for the OP too, if their consulate relies on past returns when deciding on the financials. Most of the time it is current income that is most important though.

Have him include a statement about being a recent graduate and then starting his career in the military, and since he did not have enough income while in school last year, he was not required to legally file a tax return.

Jay-Kay..... I got something similar from dwheels76, but in his case, he asked me to get co-sponsor info that my finacee should take to the interview just incase the CO asks to avoid 221g slip or delay.

hey guys,

so my fiance got his b.a. and m.sc. and is now an officer in the us navy. he has not held a paying job position before, ergo never filed for a tax return.

he is making good money now, obviously, well above the poverty limits. for the i-134 he is able to provide three most recent pay stubs and letter from the captain stating salery, position and the likes.

question: will this be enough for the i-134. if not, what are other options. not to make things harder: parents do not approve of our relationship. joint sponsor might not be a possibility. thanks guys

we are in the same boat. I just filed for my fiancee too.I just joined the US navy in April and I came to the state for the first time last year November. I have not gotten NOA2 though. But I am concerned as to whether I should submit just LES of my recent 3months pay as well because I have not filed for any tax before since I came late last year and I didn't even get a job until this year. Wishing you success voltaire-re.. I hope I will find help on what to do when needed.

As far as I know, they do. I personally had one 7 years ago for a K-1. So unless they've changed things, I will say yes. I don't, however, think that an I-134 allows for 2 co-sponsors.

We Just got approved last thursday so very soon my fiancee should be getting ready for her interview. Now my question is on the sponsor of a thing. My income is well enough as I am in the US navy. But I just started (in April) and I v not spent up to a year even in the US. So I don't have previous year tax. Now I was adviced to have a co-sponsor ready incase the CO might just feel I need one. But here is the thing. I have a brother in the sates who files his year tax together with is wife as joint tax. They both work in the same company and make about $33,000 yearly together. Using an arithmetic here it suggest my brother might be making $16k to 17k annually and his wife complementing the other. So if I put my brothers name as a co-sponsor and the CO checks it and realizes that my brother's support can't be enough for my fiancee that may lead to visa issuance delay.
Here Is my Question .. can I use both my brother and his wife as a co-sponsor to my fiancee and if I can how do I go about it? My Type of petition is I-129f.
