I heard that - my sponsor would need at least 125% of poverty level (how much is that ?? yearly / hourly ??) - he/she has to have payed taxes over that for at least 3 years. Others state that you only need to have the first, and as long as the consular officer is convinced that its sustainable. Say thats true, how do you convince the consular officer that it is sustainable /? My fiancee is still a student. She did work for one and the same company for the last five years during her study. She also had a nanny job which is not a taxable income ... But she will graduate soon and then she will have a fulltime job. Hi everyone Im new to this thread, but Me and Amy are a dutch/american couple too LizandPat invited me to stop by Ill have to read back a bit to find out what you guess plot over here, but good to find y'all here OT. I have actually had some less exciting experiences with that consulate as well... not that the man was really mean, he just came across bureaucratic and heartless. But thats not the people in the room, when you step in to the right. (where the important visas get handled) He works at the windows straight ahead when you step in, where the tourist and student visas get processed. But most people there, and especially those that helped me with this visa, were amazing. A very well dressed bald consul with very modern glasses, who was so nice and interested in us. and a smart and very kind black lady that was totally on her a-game. US Embassy and Consulate Discussion	Do I have enough time left ??	After the consulate in amsterdam sent me packet 3, and it never arrived, until i called last friday, then i received it last saturday... i did send out the D156 D156K and D230 but we just lost 3 weeks because of the first letter not arriving... i wont have my I-134's until at least the end of the week So i cannot send out my checklist until then ... Thus I wont get my interview date yet I also still need my medical, because they dont tell me how and where to get that until i send the checklist and my Approval Notice : Valid Mar 20th 2009 - June 19th 2009 Im afraid its not enough time until the approval notice expires.... my heartrate is doubled, and im paralyzed with fear... the only thing i could think of, was to post it here... Though im still overwhelmed with the speed, and after just catching my breath from the petition paperwork, renewed paperwork is gonna take some mental preparation. But hopefully ill have my head together before the end of the week, to start pre-requesting certain forms. the 'new evidence' made me a little worried too. Since i just left February 16th, after being there for half a year, we cant see each other anytime soon. I could have her send me emails and letters perhaps ? and what about skype call history ? any other advice ? should she send me a package with something fun, to have those receipts? all ideas are welcomed. thanks again everyone ... OMG, Im so ... excited... and stressed... my petition got approved already... and ... now im ... overwhelmed... i cant think... We sent it out February 17th, but this weekend we got our approval. Its sent to the NVC. My fiancee read it to me in the middle of her night. So i dont know what the letter says exactly. But ... what am i to do ? to prepare ? What should i have ready for action... i wasnt expecting it to be processed before at least 6 months had passed. now 6 weeks havent even passed.... EEEK Any ... help ? K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	Approved - K1 - Amsterdam Consulate	Im approved !! WOOHOOOO It was a very nice appointment. The lady that helped me was very friendly, and helpful. The consul was a great, kind and happy person. I had a very pleasurable experience. Thank you Consulate if you read this ! The lady collected the forms, and made me feel like everything was already approved. The consul asked me to swear i filled it all out truthfully, and while looking through the package to assure completion, he asked me how we met, where she lives, if i like it there, what she does for a living. It felt like he was really interested, and it seemed to be more as a way to kill the silence while he verified completion, than that he was trying to set me up, to find reasons to deny it or something. So everyone : dont believe the ghoststories. If your situation is a legit relationship, and you have everything prepared and complete: feel comfortable, be confident, you have nothing to hide, and they arent trying to make it hard on people that are for real. A lot of people tried to make me feel like it was a 50/50 chance of a yes or no, but thats not true. By law, public transportation is allowed to deny me access to their vehicles. But when i have my ticket, and plan to take the bus to work, i dont worry that they might deny me. Simply because i didnt do anything wrong, and i have a ticket, so im not a concern to the driver. The same applies here. Dont worry about getting denied. If you do get denied, then you can worry about it then, or better, you fix it. But if you have everything well prepared and are legit, and for real, theres nothing to be worried about. Thanks everyone that has helped us so far. Your support and advice is much appreciated. First for understanding when it comes to extra days off in a year so I can visit her. And now with the visa story. I keep them up to speed every step of the way, and most employers will appreciate your honesty and be willing to keep in mind that you might leave at some point. When it comes to the K1 visa, it does generally take the average time this website states. After that you have half a year to travel to the states. Box with FedEx FedEx will ship it from the Netherlands to the appartment of my fiancee in the USA With her normal streetname etc etc On the enveloppe that we will send out to the USCIS I did use the PObox address for Nebraska SC The one they state on the USCIS website to use for the I-129F ===== Where do we put the I-129F original submission line on the enveloppe (if it matters) Ive currently got it top left ---- So if I understand correctly she will make out a cheque for $455 to Department of Homeland security Does she need to make a copy of that for the other packages ? or only a receipt of some sort ? ---- Oh, and Im getting my DTP booster tomorrow morning. Although digging into the positivity of this information I did come to wonder the following : I have to go to another interview after I got married. This time with my SO. Thats where you need need need the money thing to be in order. Thats where you pay most money to date. But does that mean that they can still deny me after I get my K1 and my money and my wedding in order ?? What kind of interview is it ? Is it with bulldog officers that want you gone, like the kind you would get if you would enter as a tourist and then marry and stay ? Or are they just nice people who are part of a formality ?? Also this is what I had so far for my I-129F Q18 : In February 2005, Amy Robin Bakke was attending a DTS by Youth for Christ in Scotland for 6 months. There she met Rianne Alderliesten, a close friend of Marinus Arie Schot. After she left Schotland, at the end of July 2005, she went to the Netherlands to visit Rianne and her family. In those days she met Marinus. We immediatly fell in love. Amy was scheduled to leave the Netherlands a couple of days later. Marinus immediately booked a ticket to go and visit her for a week, October 14th - 22nd 2005. We called almost daily in the months prior to Marinus visit and have been doing so ever since. In the week of Marinus visit the relationship only grew stronger and soon after Marinus arrived back in the Netherlands, he booked another ticket to go and visit her again, February 11th - 25th 2006, this time for two weeks. That summer Amy came to visit Marinus in the Netherlands to meet his family and friends. In the 3 weeks she was visiting Marinus, July 18th - August 11th 2006, we also made a trip to Paris, France together. Marinus then visited Amy again for little over 2 weeks during Christmas and New Years , December 25th 2006 - January 11th 2007. Amy then visited Marinus again for 3 months, May 11th - August 9th 2007. That is when they've gotten engaged to be married in Venice, Italy; We went there while we were on a trip to Medulin, Croatia. He currently plans to visit Amy again for about a month, near the holidays, around December 2007 - January 2008. Would something like that do ? Too much ? Not enough ? Different ? Because in the dutch thread on these boards they say, for the K1 you dont even need to make 125% of poverty level, thats not untill after we are married and file for an AOS. so still plenty of confusion there... Everyone has an opinion or interpretation and eventually you miss the forest for the trees. you guys are so helpful i so so so so hope youre right about this because its our top concern, since I feel were not suspicious looking people and we actually have a relationship, etc. Although I cant find ALL my plain tickets... and calling went through another service so her number doesnt show on my bills. ... so is it true you shouldnt send more then 5 pictures ? or is that a more or less ? Her parents probably/might show enough on their january taxes. Her sister wants to but is as unable as it gets And other then that we would have to go ask and beg the 2 others that might be able. any suggestions ? What are the risks realistically? And by realistically I mean : im not gonna commit a crime. Im a very nice friendly person. Im more then willing to work. My fiancee makes enough money to support the 2 of us anyway, etc. Also : what are alternatives ? What happens if we dont meet the requirements for showing that income for the 3 years they require but only as a current thing ? Or if we have enough income, and a sponsor, but the sponsor almost meets the requirements ?? I thought I figured it all out pretty well... but I still want to double, triple check things, just to be safe. Thank you all so so so much, for devoting your valuable time to people like me. Its one of the reasons Im going for the K1 way in the first place; out of respect towards helpful people that did it the legal way. I cant deny the tourist marriage way didnt cross my mind, but it just didnt feel right in my heart. One thing that bugs me is that the example form for the g325a shows the beneficiary's name in the heavy bordered box at the bottom.
