United KingdomSent Packet 3 Back, but still no word on Packet 4
I sent mine back at around the same time as you
I sent pack 3 forms back - received proof of delivery stamp 22nd August

I sent IV15 back - received proof of delivery stamp 30th August.

When I called the ' helpline' they advised the interview date will be provided upon receipt of the IV15 checklist, but they had not updated the system.

I've e-mailed a few times too and get the same response

We have no record of having received the forms to which you refer.
However there is a delay of 6 - 8 weeks between the date the forms are
received by the Embassy and the date in which they are processed and
entered on to our system. As soon as the Immigrant Visa Unit has
received the forms and completed any additional processing on your
application you can anticipate receiving an appointment date for an
interview within 8 weeks.

Thank you for your e-mail correspondence.

Which I think is a standard response.

He also called the DOS - exactly the same information.

I'm going to leave it until the 21st Sept and start chasing again

I seem to be getting a response from the e-mails to the embassy in around 3 working days.

Hopefully we will both hear something soon!!

United KingdomHow long has everyone else waited?
I'm still waiting too. I received an email from the embassy on Friday to tell me that I should hear something 4 weeks after the mailing date.

Today is 4 weeks after mailing date so I sent another e-mail, just waiting for a response now.

We just have to be patient..

United KingdomThose who got you vaccinationa worksheet back from medical...
HI

I was confused about this too, I called them it just refers to the fact that you get a waver for the vaccinations that you didn't have perhaps because you had the illness at childhood?! Chickenpox etc.

I was advised that there is nothing to worry about.

I sent my forms back separately on the advice of the Telephone Helpdesk, my interview was scheduled upon recipt of the checklist rather thatn my pack 3 paperwork.
Jackson1975Female02006-10-12 01:07:00
United KingdomWhat to bring to the embassy with us?
Sounds fine to me

But I would also take an a debit card or cash just in case there are any extra expenses.

I had to pay $85 to get fingerprints taken for an FBI name check.

Be prepared
Jackson1975Female02006-10-13 03:27:00
United KingdomI'm not on the system!! :(
HI Becca

Mine took approximately 5 weeks to go onto the system, It was really frustrating and I e-mailed them everyday.

This does seem to be the norm for them, especially when there are U.S holidays within that time too.

Hope pack 4 comes through soon
Jackson1975Female02006-10-12 01:01:00
United Kingdomon the system!!!
I would give 5 weeks from the date you sent the pack 3 in to the Embassy

United Kingdomhow to Pay for the medical?
Cash / Debit Cards / Credit Cards and I'm not sure about cheques. Not many places like cheques anymore!
Jackson1975Female02006-10-21 03:52:00
United KingdomPolice Certificate???
The enhanced disclosure is a CRB and is not the same thing - however, it should be useful when you go to the US if you need to do the same kind of work you do now.

The police check is an an A4 sheet of paper ( if no convictions on ) that has a blue line across the top and bottons stating National Identification Services Authentic Document.

Also know as a Section 7 Data Protection Act 1998 - Subject Access Letter

I don't think it would cause a problem, I can only go by my interview and they took the originals and the copies is did - then handed me back my originals.

When you get your pack 3 you will get a bank giro slip to to make payment for your visa (£63).

Meh! I didn't get one of those!

I remember the people that stand you in the queues outside were giving some out - So just ask someone when you get there.

United Kingdomembassy interview
When you get your pack 3 you will get a bank giro slip to to make payment for your visa (£63).

It's similar to the ones you would complete in a bank to pay in money except instead of one part that gets stamped by the bank to confirm payment there are two parts

One is your own copy and one is a copy you give to the Embassy along with all the other stuff.

I hope this makes sense - When I answered the question at first for some reason I though the OP was talking about a visa Bill, like credit card. I know I'm strange!!!

United Kingdomembassy interview
Forgive my answer - Lord only know's what I was thinking about

YES you do need the visa charge receipt and as previously advised you do not need a photocopy of you passport.

However, since the Embassy have had my passport, I have needed it for several identification purposes - just my luck., so I wouls suggest that you take a copy of your passport just for yourself.
Jackson1975Female02006-10-22 03:22:00
United Kingdomembassy interview
I took a credit card bill but they didn't look at it.

I didn't take a photocopy of my passport either - i just noted down my passport number - just in case I needed it for some reason.

They took the passport off me at the interview
Jackson1975Female02006-10-21 03:41:00
United Kingdomhow long did it take you to get your visa?
Thanks

The thing that is stressing me out most of all is the fact that they tell you it will be sorted out in one week, then when you question it they get s**tty with you stating that you have to be patient!!

I would be patient but if you say one week then after 3 weeks you are entitled to be a little concerned

Secondly, I'm really concerned that I will be waiting as long as some people are in AOS months to a year or more, I would really hate to be parted for that long. I would be fine if we were together and waiting.

It's all too depressing

To everyone that received an text message advising that the passport/visa would be delivered the following day - Most advise that the text message came in the evening.

Could you please advise me the approximate time - I know it's a strange question sorry!!!!

United Kingdomhow long did it take you to get your visa?

I had to send in a notarised letter after the interview regarding my son; which I did. But they've had it for well over a week now.

I emailed them at the beginning of the week asking what was going on with it all and haven't had an answer yet.

*shrugs*

I have no idea what is going on...but the stress is agonna kill me! :help:

I feel for you!!!

They said 1 week to me (FBI Name check pending)- It's hard trying to be patient - I finish my job next week, I have a buyer waiting patiently for my house and Had planned to fly to Steven on the 28th October. Totally fed up right now
Jackson1975Female02006-10-19 06:38:00
United Kingdomhow long did it take you to get your visa?
The woman that interviewed me said that I shoudl get mine within one week - even though I am awaiting an FBI Name Check.

No passport/no visa as yet and interview was 10th October. I had planned to fly on the 27th October I doubt there is any chance of this now

Yesterday the DOS advised that the fingerprint results were back. I didn't want to get excited because of all the hassles.

This evening I received a text message from SMS advising that I have a delivery in the morning.

I also double and triple checked with the DOS and they confirmed my visa was produced today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

United KingdomHow long is the wait for Visa?
I would definately all the DOS the number is as above

Then

press 1
press 1
press 0

Then wait a little while

They seem to have the most up to date info

Forget Scotland when I last called them they advised as the interview had already taken place they would not have any additional information.

Also

When it's an administration issue when you e-mail the londonconsular address they don's seem to respond.

In the 28 days of waiting I sent 5 e-mails no response

DOS were always very helpful

Good Luck

United KingdomThe Idiots Guide to London 1

I actually find your description of the whole medical a bit misleading really. The majority of people who have had their medicals at the Knightsbridge Doctors were treated well.

The easiest way to find them...get off at Knightsbridge on the Piccadilly line. Use the exit marked "Harrods". Follow the little side street it exits onto (not the main road) and then turn first left. The doctors is just on the right hand side of the street. It is not even a five minute walk from the tube.

The medical I had was quick, efficent and handled very well. Staff were funny (especially the X-ray fella) and courteous and I have NO complaints. Any questions I had they answered well. My son has ADHD and I had to answer questions about him. These were handled well by my examining doctor. From start to finish it was around 45 minutes and they were pretty busy.

If you are not happy with your medical fair enough, but in the majority of cases these doctors are pretty good IMO.

Yep I found the x ray man funny too AND the doctor was very child friendly too. I went to Basil Mansions

I did find a mistake on my vaccination records - copied my the medical secretary, however, once I advised them they sorted it out and sent it to me the next morning.
