US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionWhat do I need to send for the I-134 financial support
Thanks for the info... The income is not a problem then... Thank you for moving this to the right area for me

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionWhat do I need to send for the I-134 financial support
You must submit in duplicate evidence of income and resources, as appropriate:

A. Statement from and officer of the bank or other financial institutions where you have deposits, identifying the following details regarding your account

1. Date account opened;
2. Total amount deposited for the past year; and
3. Present balance.

Here are some of my questions...

1. My bank will only print off the whole year’s worth of statements. They will not just put the deposit amounts on a piece of paper. Do I just have to send them huge stacks of statements?
2. Do I send info on my retirement accounts too (401K through work), or is this just my daily Checking, Savings, and Money Market accounts.

I tried to do some searches for this info, but I didn’t seem to find anything. If there is a topic devoted to the I-134 (Not just filling out the form) can someone please direct me to it. Thank you in advance for your help.

My fiancee had her interview today. Everything went very well.... They had to send her biometrics to the States and when they get confirmation they will issue the VISA. I really hope that we can get her here before Friday. I am so happy right now!

I had the same problem, but when I emailed the Finnish Embassy they said that it was not needed. One thing I heard from various people is that each embassy is different so the only thing I would suggest is emailing your embassy and ask them specifically what you need for your packet.

I have a quick question... I keep seeing people talk about the last 3 years of tax returns with the I-134... The only thing i found in the USCIS instructions about tax returns were if a person was self employed. Then they needed to submit tax returns... and even then it only asked for the last years return. Am I reading this wrong, or is this stuff asked for somewhere else?

As of now I have:

1. The letter from my employer
2. By Friday I will have the information from my bank

Since I am not self employed do I have to have the tax returns? If I do have to have the tax returns my next question is can I just get a copy of the last 3 years taxes from my accountant and have them notarized or do I have to get the transcripts from the IRS?

It won't be of help to you now, but in case someone else has this question- when my fiancé did his interview they were more interested in my tax returns than anything else, and I am not self employed. Since it will vary from consulate to consulate its better to have them.

Yeah, i hear ya on that.... I emailed the consulate in Helsinki to find out exactly what they needed. I would say that is the safest bet.

I have a few questions reguarding the I-134. I just moved back to my home town to help save money. I am currently a nanny for my sisters two children I live in there guest house and they pay me 1600.00 monthly. Before moving I worked as a nurse but I usually cashed my paycheck and did not use my checking accout much, my sister is willing to be a co-sponor if needed. Here are my questions.

1. I do not have many assest and I am just over the 125% is it in my best intrest to use a co-sponsor
2. Because I do not use my checking account much it does not look good on paper will this be a problem?

I am just trying to gather everything I need, and do not want to screw anything up! Thank you for your help!!

Erin

I am not going to be much help on this since I am clueless as to how this process works. I hope someone can give you what you need on this thread.

I think that for some reason people like to send in more than what is asked. Just like when your pulled over by the cops, only answer the questions asked. blush.gif haha

It is amazing how clear the instructions are and then someone starts talking about 3 years of tax returns. I simply don't think it is needed folks. Where does that come from??

-ck

The only thing that I would say to this is --- when I emailed the embassy they didn't want the bank deposits (On the instructions) and they asked for last years tax returns (I am not self employed and they knew that). I guess it is sort of a dynamic process depending on where you are being processed. It is funny to me that the government makes these instructions and rules, but then they don't even follow them.

Well, I wrote the Finnish Embassy tonight because I have read so many posts on what other people needed, or said they needed and it seemed like there were so many answers. I went to the I went to http://finland.usembassy.gov/ and then to their visa section. This is the response they sent back....

Hello Brian,

Along the I-134 your most recent individual US tax return and proof of employment are sufficient – nothing else is needed. We do have Kati’s approval and we have sent her the list of needed documents, so no problem. No NOA2 either.
Thank you.

Best regards, US consulate.

It is amazing how fast they wrote back, but I guess it is 9 in the morning there too. It is hard to imagine that as early as 4 days ago I thought we were still not approved... then today I hear they have already mailed Kati the packet 3. Seems pretty unreal, but I am so glad about it. This also cleared up a question I had posted earlier about whether or not they needed the NOA2!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsHoly Processing Batman!
101 days since our NOA1 from CSC. My timeline say that my average processing days are 99-107 for the CSC, but I am still being anxious. This is way sooner than the USCIS time frames, but now that I know other people are getting their NOA2’s I have become a compulsive email checker and it is driving me nuts!!!! Do they just do a mass emailing to the people who are approved? Does it come at average times of a day? Blah blah blah...

I know this is an obvious question, but why are some people approved in like 60 days and others aren't? My Fiancé is from Finland (Very Friendly country to the US) I am prior military with security clearance, both have stable long term jobs, and respected lives? I think the obvious thing here is that we are working with a bureaucracy and things just go like that often... it is just frustrating that there is no way to check how far along the actual petition is. I keep getting these pangs of fear that our application is stuck under someone’s keyboard or dropped behind a desk somewhere smile.gif smile.gif smile.gif How ridiculous is that thought, but it is true.

I guess the magic word right now is patience, but sometimes it is a hard thing to have. Good luck to everyone who has not been approved in the calculated times.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWe are waiting for the NOA2
My Fiance Kati and have been navigating this "Waiting Game" for the last 3 months. I just registered for the site yesterday and I now feel a new surge of hope that we are not going to be waiting until November to get our NOA2. This has been the most intense 3 months of my life. The waiting has been really good for our relationship because we get to talk so much and learn so much more about each other. (THANK GOD FOR VONAGE) I guess it has just been hard not to be able to go on dates and all of the other stuff normally associated with being together.

One thing that I am starting to wonder is this though... We did the I-129F, got the NOA1, and now are waiting for the NOA2... What can we do right now to help us out when we get to the interview stage? I have read a little about doing the AOS and other forms (I really feel like a Novice right now) that other people do. Can anyone give us some things that we can start to do while we are doing all of this waiting? Also, can anyone link any helpful articles or suggestions for us. And one last question is how do people get the detailed timelines at the bottom of their posts??? Is this just something that people make them selves or is there another section of the site I haven't found? Thank you so much in advance....

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresLawyer vs Doing it by myself
Man, I like the doctor analogy... Well, neither of us has a criminal history but I have one previous marriage. I guess this just takes long. I am glad we did not add even more time and money to this process by hiring someone who is detached from our situation. Now that I remember correctly... When we were filling out the I-129F we got our sample form on VJ. This site did provide a lot of useful info. The USCIS site is lame at best, and did not seem to provide even half of the information on how to submit the documents and what to submit as this site did. My example would be the cover letter, things such as putting the pictures in separate plastic baggies, and there were many other things too. This whole process is insane in my view... maybe it is designed to deter stupid or lazy people from wasting their time smile.gif

I am just wondering if anyone knows the answer or has an opinion to the following question. Do people that complete their own I-129F paperwork seem to get pushed back and take a little longer getting their NOA2's than people that pay money for a lawyer to do it? My Fiancé and I did our own paperwork... (Researched a ton and got NOA1 6/23/09) and I am getting anxious watching people submitting their paperwork in August and September of this year already getting their petitions approved. Is it just time, circumstance, and Service Center - or is there any logic to the lawyer question?

I'm in the same boat as you. We however did decide to hire a lawyer, and to be honest I think had we thought about it better we would've never hired him. Why because we file last Nov2008, and got our NOA 1 in Dec,2008 then we got a RFE in May2009 if I hadn't called the freaking lawyer I would've never known about it mad.gif , now its freaking Oct. and we still done know NOTHING. I guess its really just depends if you really think its necessary or not. I, myself think I should've put that money to better use then to spend it on our "lawyer". BEST WISHES TO YOU GUYS!

So you didn't get an RFE for 5 months? What takes them so long?

Having an attorney complete the paperwork (which is really all they do - besides advise their client) does not speed up nor slow down the process. On VJ (and I suspect elsewhere) an overwhelming majority of folks have gone the DIY route with the same results as those who hired an attorney.

According to your timeline, you're just behind the norm - to me, this says you should be due for some news any time now. Hang in there... good.gif

USCIS -

I was so excited on Saturday because I got my letter from the NVC telling me that they received an approved I-129F and were forwarding it to the Embassy in Helsinki. I posted something about this the other day and was questioning whether or not it was normal to not get the NOA2 first. Well, Gary and Alla (THANK YOU) told me about calling and talking to an immigration officer... so I did that and the officer said:

"Wow - you are the 2nd person in a row that has called me about this today . I am sorry, but there is nothing I can do for you for 38 days, you don't show approved in our system so you have to wait until the normal processing time is expired".

I was really nervous so I called the National Visa Center and inquired if maybe I got a hoax letter or if something was wrong. They told me:

"We did get your complete packet and it was shipped to Helsinki on the 13th of this month".

Basically the embassy in Helsinki does not take long to set up interviews and we already have most of the packet 3 done so we are totally dependent on the NOA2 for this interview. I ended up calling my Senator (Really nice people in his office) and asked if they could help me by inquiring as to what the heck is going on. They were totally helpful and have started the process to see why this is happening. I am sure it is just a problem in their computer system or something, but I guess I am a little upset about the USCIS's total unwillingness to even investigate this, or their bureaucratic hold-ups that are preventing them from checking on why there is a problem.

I just wonder how many people are being effected by this problem right now.

I don't understand the "totally dependent on the NOA2 for the interview." Does the consulate require you to have the NOA2 in your possession? Certainly was not the situation in our case....

hmmm... that was my understanding... maybe that isn't the case... how do you find that out?

required documents should be indicated in the consulate P3...

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresLetter from NVC OMG
OMG OMG OMG... 10/17/09 and I just got the biggest surprise in the mail. I have been depressed for the last week or 2 watching everyone getting their NOA2's from their Service centers. Today I checked the USCIS web page to see if we got our NOA2 but there were no updates to our case number.

This is the letter I got from the NVC today.

The State Department's National Visa Center has recently received an approved I-129F petition filed on behalf of your fiance. This letter is to let you know that within a week the petition will be forwarded to the appropriate visa-issuing post where your visa interview will take place.

Our Records show that you filed the I-129F pettion for:

Name of fiance: xxxxx
INS Receipt Number: xxxx

Case Number: xxxx

The case will be precessed at:

Post: HELSINKI
EMBASSY OF THE UNITED STATES, VISA UNIT
HELSINKI FIN-00140
FINLAND

Your fiance will soon receive a packet with instructions from the consular section on how to apply for the K1 visa at that post and what documents will be required. In the meantime, you should visit the Department of State's website at www.travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/types/types_4323.html to determine if the processing post has any information of which you should be immediately aware

Sincerely,

Does this happen a lot?

We are going to start putting her packet together today from some forms I found on the internet (PDF's) but.... Can someone please point me in the right direction to make sure I have the right forms? I could find it myself normally, but my head is flying to high in the clouds right now smile.gif smile.gif smile.gif

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhen did you buy the airline ticket for your Fiancee??
Kati and I have been discussing the same thing. Buying a ticket 2-3 weeks out is totally cheaper, but buying a ticket before evertying is final is too risky. We are going to wait until her Visa is in hand.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresevidence of engagement to fiancee

I assume that you are preparing to file the I-129F. It does not require you to prove that you are engaged. You do need to prove that you have met face to face within the last two years. That is the evidence (boarding pass, passport stamp) that you need to submit.

We just used her plane tickets (boarding pass), dated pictures, and the visa waiver she got when she came to visit.
