A link is broken on the DS 160 web page where it lists the photo specs for your upload. Does anyone recall the photo specs by chance? We have reported the issue. Thanks so much!

Question, the Sydney Consulate is asking for DS-160 in our email. However on one of their links it says you need to submit (Forms DS-156, DS-156K, and DS-230 (Parts I and II). But then online I have read that DS-156/k and DS-230 were consolidated into the online form DS-160 in 2013.

Can you someone confirm, please? I have asked the consulate just to be sure.

THANKS!!!!!!

Thanks so much! I see it says: Present and former residents of the United States do NOT need to obtain any U.S. police certificates.  We are checking even further to confirm. From what I hear the US is able to electronically check these days. I was worried I would have to go through the FBI which could take months.

not sure about your embassy/consulate but here is a cut and paste from our p4 letter.  Hope it helps.

OBTAIN THE ORIGINAL POLICE CLEARANCE CERTIFICATE

Each visa applicant aged 16 years or older must submit a police certificate from every
country where he/she resided for at least 6 months after the age of 16.

Some countries require a specific Police Certificate Request form to properly request and
obtain Police Certificate(s). The Reciprocity by Country page indicates those countries.

Police certificates from certain countries are unavailable.

Present and former residents of the United States do NOT need to obtain any U.S. police
certificates.

For more specific information please visit HTTP://TRAVEL.STATE.GOV/VISA/FEES/FEES_3272.HTML

So probably your best bet is to get a hold of you embassy/consulate and ask them what you need in case they a particular for what they are looking for.

Question: Have any of your significant others lived in the US previously under a work visa etc for at least 12 months? Mine did many years ago. I am curious if anyone had to also get a US Police Clearance?

They can be for darn near everything! We didn't get a RFE. Can you tell us what you included in your petition?

Hi! That's what I am reading. It could even be a box that was not checked correctly.

We included a full scan of passport of every single page; travel visa's i purchased to visit him; flight records for my 3 flights there; flight records for several flights inside the US together; photos from past 2 years including marathons and triathlons we completed together; engagement cards from family/friends; emails including our first correspondence when we met; whatapp messages and so on... the only thing i didn't include are electrical/cable bills with his name on them.

Any advice is appreciated.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNVC Filers - May 2014

This may be something new for people to look out for, as until now we've been on the look out for either a 'real' or 'false' checklist. But as my checklist seems to be a little of both this could potentially lead to a lot of confusion.

Has anyone else received both a real and false checklist all in one?

rpatersonMaleUnited Kingdom2014-05-24 06:16:00
IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNVC Filers - May 2014

What do you mean missed the cutoff by a week?  I dont understand what you are quoting there.  Tax season?  who told you that?

There's a section about tax information in Saylin's NVC Process Wiki that states "Up until April 14th (tax deadline), you can still use 2012 as the most recent year." We sent our AOS package a week after this date so should have been using 2013 as the most recent year not 2012.

I've now spoken to NVC about my checklist and they told me the part asking for the civil documents could be false as they are showing my IV package as still being under review. It just seems confusing, as in Saylin's Wiki it states if they ask for the entire package its a false checklist but if they ask for something specific like the Police Certificate its real. Well they did ask for the Police Certificate, and my Birth Certificate, and copy of my passport. But not the photographs or Marriage Certificate. So does this count as most of the package or specific items?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNVC Filers - May 2014

Do you have delivery confirmation of the IV? I would called and speak with someone to verify receipt of the IV package.

Yes, they have confirmed the receipt of my IV package. I've been calling them for a few days now and they have told me numerous times they received two packages from me (AOS and IV).

The checklist didn't mention the marriage certificate though which just confuses me more.

rpatersonMaleUnited Kingdom2014-05-23 16:57:00
IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNVC Filers - May 2014

Was unfortunate enough to receive a checklist today. But I'm slightly confused as it seems to be a combination of a 'real' checklist and a 'false' one. Has anyone else received one like this?

It asks specifically for us to submit 2013 tax info as we had submitted 2012 info as the most recent year. Looks like we missed the cut off point by a week! Oh well, hopefully we can get this sent off to them quickly and the delay wont be too long.

The confusing part is the checklist also asks for me to submit a copy of my passport, my birth certificate, and police certificate all which I have already sent as part of my IV package. They already have these documents!

So whereas the tax part of the checklist is real and obviously needs action on my part, the civil documents they're asking me to submit falls into the 'false' checklist category we are all familiar with. I'm aware of the difference between the real and false checklists but I've not heard of anyone receiving one that seems to be both at the same time!

Has anyone seen this before? Any advice?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNVC Filers - July 2014

did you ask them that we will give the I864 form in interview.I got the checklist for that. Please let me know if it is possible........

No I didn't ask them for this. I think as its my second checklist and only a minor one they have decided I can just bring the corrected I-184 with me to the interview. But no, I didn't ask if I could do this.

Has anyone else got a checklist like this, on the first page addressed to my husband it states he must send the info to NVC, but on another page it says that he must send everything to me (the applicant) and it will be reviewed at the interview. This is also our second checklist (bless my husband) and it's definitely different from the first one.
The letter also states: "We have finished reviewing your case. We will tell you when we set an interview date for your case."

Does anyone know what this means. Must my husband send the docs to me or NVC, or both. We will phone NVC, but I thought I'd ask here, since they only open on Monday again. I'm hoping that this means they done and I'll get an interview soon!

This whole process is soul destroying and relationship wrecking. Not sure how much more I can take.

This looks like the same thing I got and it is my understanding your husband needs to send the docs to you and you bring them to your interview. But if you are not sure you should call NVC and ask.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNVC Filers - July 2014

So good news and bad news:

Today we finally heard the long awaited words CASE COMPLETE!!!!!!!!!!

Obviously that's the good news. The bad news is that we got checklisted a second time for our AOS package! However, as it seems to only be a minor thing (I think our co sponsor made one or two errors on the I-184 form) they have decided to complete our case anyway and have asked us to re-do the I-184 and I will need to bring it with me to my interview.

So even though we have gotten a second checklist which could have delayed us another couple of months, they've given us the benefit of the doubt and completed the case provided I bring the corrected I-184 to my interview. In my mind this was a narrow escape as I'm sure if they wanted to they could have asked us to resubmit the AOS package a third time! I wonder if this is common for people who have already been through a checklist delay?

Anyway, I'm not complaining as we've finally got a case complete and now we're on to the next stage. However, I do now have the added worry of bringing the corrected I-184 to my interview and hoping there won't be a problem with it again. That is stress I could have done without!

So good news and bad news, but so happy for our case complete!!!! : )

OMG! Just checked and my AOS fee has changed to N/A!!

Will have to wait another 7 hours till NVC opens for business again to phone them to check if my case is complete, but it looks promising, right?

For those wondering, we got checklisted for AOS and the new documents we sent them were scanned on June 4th. Today is the 26th business day.

Fingers crossed for good news once I can call them!

To all the people that have received the news of their interview dates over the last couple of days by calling the NVC, has anyone received their official email notification yet? IF the interviews were schedueld according to Priority Dates, the jsumner is rightly before you. But, as we saw last month, NVC does not schedule according to Priority Date or Case Complete date. As Agent Don said "we put you where we can fit you".  Why they have a responsibllity they clearly cannot handle is beyond me.

Once the Embassy has your medical, that's probably the best time to ask for an earlier interview date as you are "ready" for interview. The medical at Knightsbridge is really about a week out with scheduling, so I would schedule that ASAP.

Thanks, that's useful info. I will definitely get on to scheduling my medical ASAP.

Can I just ask exactly HOW is the best way to request an earlier interview? Emailing the embassy? Phoning them? I see you succeed in doing this. How did you contact them?

rpatersonMaleUnited Kingdom2014-07-30 10:01:00

September 15th 2014 is our interview. Gonna move that baby up if possible!

Congrats!!

And while I'm very pleased for you that you've gotten your interview date, this is a perfect example of how the NVC doesn't particularly make sense. You got your case complete on the 28th July then two days later recieved an Interview date of 15th September whereas my case was completed on 11th July and after waiting 19 days I've just found out my interview date is 23rd September.

I'm obviously happy to have finally gotten an interview date but why are other cases that completed after mine being interviewed before mine? Luck of the draw?

jsumner86, you mention you're going to try to get your date moved forward. Is this an easy thing to acheive as I've read elsewhere that if you request your date to be moved you could potentially be setting yourself up for even more delays? I'd love to get mine moved forward too. What is the best way to go about this?

When is your interview scheduled?..... I just said that i was ready to go and that my CC was June 15th and that i was annoyed that i seemed to have been scheduled so sour of sync with the others. I just got an email back saying that it had been arranged for 2nd September 8:00am and that the confirmation was in the post .....

Looks like you've been incredibly lucky. Or I've been unlucky. When I asked them for it to be brought forward they have simply told me no.

My interview is scheduled for September 23rd and my Case Complete was July 11th. So that's two and a half months between the two!

Seems to be no rhyme or reason to it and they really wanted to know why I wanted it changed. Perhaps they only offer a new slot if one is available and when I asked there wasn't one. Leads me to believe it might be worth asking again in a couple of days or so.

bdrew was initially declined for an earlier interview date at London, but she and her husband kept on the embassy and eventually the date was moved up after their MP intervened on their behalf. Might check with her exactly what they did :) Best of luck!

Can anyone share the reason they gave when asking for an earlier interview date? I simply was honest and told them I was hoping to be reunited with my wife as soon as possible after a long and very difficult time living apart during our visa application process. Even though I'm 'ready' to be interviewed now after having my medical I guess they just didn't think my reason for wanting a sooner interview was valid.

I suppose I'm just a little shocked as so far I've only seen people here reporting success in getting their dates moved. Do you think this is something I can try asking for again after a while or is that the end of it? In order for the date to be changed do you need to have a valid reason? Is simply wanting to be with your spouse as soon as possible not a good enough reason?

rpatersonMaleUnited Kingdom2014-08-13 08:39:00

Just got denied an earlier interview at the London embassy. : (

"Unfortunately, we are unable to offer an earlier appointment.  You should attend as scheduled on September 23rd."

I explained to them I'm ready for the interview, have completed my medial and the results are now with them and still they said no. I have seen here that others have been very successful in bringing their interview dates forward. I thought it would be a simple request that they would grant if they had earlier appointments available, but I guess not. Is it related to the reason you give them as to whether they will change it for you? I see Eastyo11's date was brought forward almost an entire month at the same embassy only yesterday!

Anyone have any advice here or do I have no choice but to accept the initial date they have given?

INTERVIEW RE-SHEDULED FOR 2ND SEPTEMBER!!!!

I'm trying to get my interview rescheduiled also but the embassy have responded with this:

Please explain why you are unable to attend the interview as scheduled

What reason did you give to get your date changed as you've been very lucky to get yours brought forward quite considerably.

Congrats by the way.

What reasons have others given for asking for their date to be brought forward? Will they refuse if the reason I give is not good enough?

The only way to get in touch with the London Embassy is via their contact form. There's no way to re-schedule via phone.

It took the Embassy exactly one week to receive the medical. I would send another request towards the end of the week.

If they already received your medical, I would reply back to the e-mail they sent you stating they didn't have your case to request an earlier date! They'll reply back faster to previous inquiries than new ones.

Also, I agree with bdrew!

Your interview was scheduled on a Thursday and the only UK shipment since then left NVC two days later on Friday Aug 1st. My best guess is your case was part of that shipment and that nobody at the London Consulate bothered to login incoming cases yet. Take a page from bdrew's book and stay on top of them!

Thanks MoBar65, I will!

I tried calling them on the phone earlier to check if my case was there yet but after selecting option after option as prompted by the recorded message I finally got a message saying that I should check their website then the call disconnected! I couldn't get through to a human at all. Anyone know the correct number to dial for the US embassy in London and what options to select to actually get through to a person?

Personally, I would wait until it shows Ready. London isn't affected by the glitch anymore, so they are not experiencing any delays right now.
Don't worry about losing opportunities, my original interview date was scheduled on June 24th and we got the new interview date on July 17th :-) Good luck to you!!!

Thanks for your advice guys. I decided to email the embassy and try my luck anyway and was suprised to receive a reply from them pretty much straight away. The sad news is it said this:

Your case file has not yet been received in the Immigrant Visa Unit in London.  Please note that it takes approximately 8 weeks for case files to be transferred to the Embassy once you have received notification from the National Visa Center (NVC) that processing there has been completed.

8 WEEKS!! That can't be right can it? I'm sure it'll get there sooner than that! I'm surprised it's not there already. I know it should only take a couple of days to get there so I'm not sure why it isn't there yet.

I guess I will have to wait until the status shows as 'READY' before trying again. At least I know the medical results will definitely be there. Looks like they'll be arriving before the file itself!!

I have my interview date scheduled for 23rd September and I'm hoping to get it brought forward as much as possible so will be contacting the embassy to request an earlier date.

I have been waiting for my file to reach the embassy and my status to show 'READY' on the CEAC site before I contact them but it is still showing 'IN TRANSIT' and has been for some time. My Interview notification letter was dated 1st August. The file should be there by now right? Should I wait until the status shows 'READY' or just contact them now? I feel with each day that passes I'm losing opportunites to get an earlier date.

I have also had my medical last week and expect the results to reach the embassy any day now.
