IDS does not apply to K-1.

Thank you so much! Plus, it sounds like I might as well send her one of my copies of her petition right now. It contains my divorce decree {singleness}, my passport, and our photos together.

OF course, I've already done that. However, it only adds to the confusion, LOL.

Does anyone know what the IDS is, which is outlined as a requirement on the CFO site?

Hi i had seminar already here in cebu..no need appointment just go there early morning dont forget to bring 2 identification and the followings:
Birth certificate..photo copy
marriage certificate...original from NSO
passport both .....photo copies
pictures

Hi Katy. My fiance' plans to attend in Cebu. She has her CENOMAR, NSO birth cert., and passport. Photocopies of all that are enough? Her only photo ID is a voters' registration, plus her non-NSO birth cert and baptismal cert. You think that is enough? Does she need original passport for some sort of initial stamping that she has attended it?

WHAT kind of photos does she need to bring? I don't understand that one. Thanks.

PhilippinesLearning to drive in the US
Driving school, IF at all possible, for a couple of reasons.

One. We're men. We're stubborn, and we're naturally a bit concieted. We DON'T know it all, and that includes the rules-of-the-road for driving, defensive driving tactics, traffic laws, etc.

Two. We ALL have bad habits, or perhaps at least habits which aren't the most efficient or safe behind the wheel. No need to pass them on to our spouses.

Three. It's a FACT that it's naturally more difficult to learn from a loved-one than from a private party. You have certain expectations to please your loved-one, and expect certain sympathy from him/her. You don't have this bond with a private instructor. Only the desire to learn it properly, to pass the exams, etc. Less hurt feelings and the possiblity for causing some pain in your relationship.

Hope that makes sense?smile.gif

PhilippinesDurian - aphrodisiac food
I had intended to try it on my trip. HOwever, my fiance' said that if I eat that, I'm not getting NEAR her for the rest of the day. I didn't think it was worth sacrificing our limited time together.

I did get to smell it, twice. We were on the 2nd floor of the hotel, and it was wafting down the staircase from one of the higher floors. Then leaving Mindanao, some jerk had it with him to board the plane. Stunk up the security check area which we all had to pass through. mad.gif

PhilippinesManila Airport Guide
IF your connecting flight is PAL/Air Philippines, you won't even have to leave the new Centennial terminal at the airport. IF you have a connection to Cebu Pac, or other carriers, then it involves a bus-ride or long walk to the other terminal, from what I understand. Just keep your wits about you, and you'll be fine.

Very likely, someone who's done it a time or two will be there, and might lend you a hand with your confusion or questions. While the RP officials I encountered were not necessarily 'cordial', I didn't find that they were at all rude. Just very matter-of-fact, businesslike comportment.

If I had my way, there would be no fiance visas at all. If you want to bring someone here, then go marry them and then file a marriage visa. I have seen and heard so many cases where this didnt work out for one reason or another.

...after only having spent a very brief time with them in real life, you are asking for trouble. BIG TROUBLE

I am SO greatful that you don't have your way! I also really doubt that you have "seen and heard so many cases" that didn't work out. I personally have heard and read of a couple where the Filipina arrived here, and didn't like our culture, or found out the USC was a schlub. The K1 allowed her to get back home w/o any obligations, free and clear.

Imagine if she was already MARRIED upon her arrival here? Even if she were able to get back to the RP, she would be saddled with the stigma of a marriage that she could not in any way hope to unwind or free herself from!

I am blessed to have fallen in love before I ever met my fiance' in person. I didn't go there just to be "sure", or with the hope of "hope that we hit it off", etc. etc. The trip is required, of course, but I would have went anyway. I wanted to meet and thank her parents, see her village where she was raised, and get a taste of the culture. My time there was indeed much too short, but duties and obligations back home were waiting.

As to Cebu, I won't say that I hated it. However, I didn't much care for the congestion and business. Sounds strange for someome coming from the 5th largest city here, but it's true. However, I wouldn't hesitate to go again, and just stretch my legs a little more to broaden my horizons. I wish you well there in what you hope to do.

And, if you do succeed in meeting your own lovely lady, be sure to take her up to Mountain View Park. yes.gif

Might I suggest NOT closing it. Just put it in your safe, or lock it up. Pay it down to zero. That way, it helps your debt-to-income ration on your credit report, plus, there's a card which will show zero-balance. Plus, with little activity, they may lower your interest rate after a while to 'bait' you into using it again. devil.gif

I think you did just fine with that decision. I would also suggest joining our own, local, Arizona Federal Credit Union. You only need deposit $25 to start a savings account with them. Since they are run for their members, they're rates are lower, and it's generally easier to deal with them on loans and other accounts. It's nice to get a montly dividend into my account, also. The more you have on deposit with them, the higher the dividend.

Just a thought... smile.gif

Of course, she will not be at ALL isolated here! There's several evangical churches with largely Filipino congrations, and at least two Catholic churches I know of with a Filipino mass. Yes, Barrio Fiest is right behind the I-HOP restaurant. It's sort of hidden from view as you go east on Elliot, just past Alma School. So, turn into the parking lot at I-Hop, then you'll see it right behind there.

I ate at a Barrio Fiesta inside the Ayala Mall in Cebu. It was NOT GOOD. Thankfully, this one right here in Chandler is VERY good. I've had their kare-kare, garlic rice, and fried squid. All yummy.

I have no idea what the temp or humidity was on Cebu when I landed on 1/20. However, I looked out the airplane window to see a porter hustling out a shopping cart with umbrellas. Since the sun was beaming, I asked WHAT the umbrellas were about. My fiance' said, "It's hot here, honey.".

I've spent 13 summers in Phoenix, and I grew up near Miami, Florida. I'm feeling Cebu was hotter.

WOW! I guess so far that I've been very blessed in my mailings so far! I have not personally asked my fiance' about EVERY letter I've sent, but based on what I have asked about, she appears to have gotten them ALL. Several cards, including Christmas cards, and several padded envelopes also. Plus, she couldn't possibly live any further east in the Visayas, and it all seems to have arrived there in 3weeks, give or take a day!

I was also told by some local town coucilmen that the PO there is privatized, so the mail-carrier is not a government employee. That makes it even more scary, IMHO.

Okay, can the poster quoted above please tell us a little bit more about LBC and how it works?

Xoom has been nothing but great for me. I've set it up to withdraw straight from my checking. Only the FIRST time I used it required 5-days to clear. Each successive time she was able to get the dough in about 1/2 hour. This last time, I changed from cash pick-up, to a wire directly into her account. That took about a couple hours. They now have my limit set at about 3K per transaction. I'll NEVER use that, LOL.

I HOPE that's true! I remember how MUCH consternation I went throught over question 19! So, for the benefit of others that may search for this, here is MY actual answer on the I-129F, which just got APPPROVED....

We met via a German-run site, http://www.filipinokisses.com It's for men & women worldwide interested in meeting Filipinos. I answered 'YES' because I paid a fee to access contact information. The attached copies show our initial e-mail conact via the site. Subsequent contact was via our own e-mail, Yahoo Messenger, postal mail, & telephone.

I printed the actual two initial e-mails we exchanged off of the site, AND, included a copy of our profile pages showing references to having found each other.

I hope that provides some comfort to others who may be worried about it.

PhilippinesWhere to honeymoon in the U.S.A.?
Hi neighbor! I'm in N. Phoenix, and RheaNick is in Awatukee. smile.gif

In our own backyard, I've two suggestions with a short drive north.

http://www.skyranchlodge.com

A beutiful place, with awesome view of the red rocks in Sedona. The Lodge and the tiny Airport are the only things up there. Ask about the suites, which have a small kitchenette. But, for what they charge, I bet you can eat out at all three meals and save. The Airport Restaurant is pretty good, but my favorite is the Alien Diner. Just ask them, and they'll give you directions. Picture good, heary America diner food, with some Greek options to choose from.

Half an hour further into Oak Creek is...

http://www.garlandslodge.com/

WHile it's probably too cold now, you COULD attempt to use the river at Slide Rock State Park. But, this place is probably going to offer more solitude and privacy, and be a further drive from eating and tourist sites in Sedona.

IF you choose this route, or even anything in that area, be sure to check out this wonderful shopping and dining area...

http://www.tlaq.com/

It's designed to mimic a small, walled-in Mexican village.

Look at it this way, it's DARN NEAR April 15th here. Either you have FILED, or you have filed for an EXTENSION. I would imagine the USEM is going to ask for one of those proofs. If you can present a valid copy of your extension, as the poster above you did, then you're probably going to be okay.

Even with only 4 months of income, you still need to file. You're not going to owe anything, I would imagine, but the law is the law. smile.gif
