Waivers (I-601 and I-212) and Administrative Processes (221g)Administrative Processing in El Salvador

Today I chatted with the reps over the Internet. I asked about my husband's visa status. This is what the rep told me "thank you for your information. Let me inform you that your passport is at the embassy in the process of being delivered to the express cargo agency you selected in our profile". She told me it would take 3-10 days for my hubby to get his passport. I was confused as ceac still shows "refused" and no updates on ustraveldocs. I told her about it. She then apologized and said that the case is still under review. That an officer is reviewing and to expect to get notified any day now. I don't know how much to believe. Has anyone gotten passport and visa issued but not showing up in ceac and/or ustraveldocs ?

I'm hoping it did get issued. I'm holding unto gods hands through this.

You talked to one of the reps on ustraveldocs?
Hoping its true you should email congensansal see what they tell you. :) crossing my fingers

Thank you Mxy22, Imma look for it. Each day I feel like my depression is getting worse. I feel so stressed out, and well yeah, I'm unhappy. But, I'm praying and I'm keeping myself optimistic. I guess I should start focusing on another activity and not checking ceac site multiple times a day.

Yes look for it i try not to think to much but at night i cant sleep thinking. I check ceac so many times a day

Yes, I even figured out how to reach someone by phone, it's tricky, by dialing the 703 number and then going through some menus until you get to the embassy info, then you can actually get someone on the line.  I've talked to many different people, each with their own version of how long it's supposed to take- 30 days; 60 days; 90 days; 180 days; and of course, "there is no time frame"

Let us know how you get to talk to someone i always get those menus and never get anyone. No one ever gives the same answer its the same with the DOS every agent says something different.

I'm so upset and impatient...my husband has been gone for 5 years....I'm ready for him to come home...all my paperwork is in. I don't understand. I ask god for strength, faith and patience for me and for all of you....god has the time written for everyone and although I fuss I accept it. Please don't lose faith guys.

5 years this is too much something needs to be done embassy needs more efficient workers. Last thing we can do is lose faith in God we have to put our trust in him.

Hi, I've been reading your messages and I'm stuck in the same process as some of you.  My wife had her interview on June 24th.  The counsel doing the interview said everything was ok, all that was needed was a copy of my tax return, which he asked to mail back along with her passport.  She sent them the same day and since it's been a constant fight to get someone to give a more realistic time frame.  This AP is a joke.  I wish you all the best and hope your families are reunited soon.

Hi have you emailed them yes they never tell you how long it might take we just have wait and hope it all.ends soon it seems alot of people are in the same situation.

I agree! I think the hardest part is by the time you get to Administrative Processing, you are basically so close to the end that you can touch it... Somehow, being so close to the end makes it harder to keep the patience... this is basically the LAST step- ufff, but feels like the longest!!!

This step is were our patience is tested so close to the end

Celebrating that it's been 3 weeks since the interview... I know we probably still have 5 more to go (Primero Dios que no sea mas), but since I have nothing to count down to, I have to count the other way ;)  Wish that this separation didn't have to go on so long, but I suppose it's completely out of our hands... God knows, and His timing is perfect <3

Yes we gotta do something right if not we will go crazy it has been 3 months since my husband interview. The separation is the worst but we have gotten so far in this process we have to stay positive God knows our hearts and needs and he doesn't give us more than we can handle this process has only strengthen our marriage more. I believe in God that he will see us through this with God all things are possible if you just believe :)

Thank you MXY and Winky.  This is soo not fair! there are soo many illegal ppl in the US committing crimes and none of our husbands are criminals!! I know of some people that cross the border multiple multiple times and then get papers that do illegal things!! I think its BS because us girls as US citizens just want to be with our husband's and we are dong everything the right and correct way and still we get treated like ####### :( I just called my lawyer to see what outcomes they have had in the past in response to the letter that i received and he said sometimes people wait months and over a year also and that there is really nothing that can be done regardless of situations...My lawyer also said that this can be a way of them just putting the case on the side for now :( such bs and not fair at all to any of us!! I keep praying that things work out for all of us and to live the life we want with our families!

You are right theres people with bad criminal records that gotten their green card and our husbands that have no record are the ones paying for that. We are left with no choice but wait my husband they are still reviewing the documents its gonna be 3 months next week since they received them.

it wouldn't make a difference unfortunately :( our son just turned 4 and he has a kidney disease called nephrotic syndrome and now he is steroid dependent and when he relapses his body retains with water and gets swollen in his belly and his face omg its soooo sad :( i sent pictures of our son to the embassy with a description of our son's disease and that it could lead to kidney failure and nothing! :( my hopes are soo down now its not fair that any of us and our families with children have to suffer like this!!

Sorry to hear this you would think they would expedite your case they are heartless. They have all our families separated we all have children missing out having their fathers wish they would fix this issue and process cases much quicker we as US citizens have rights but they don't care and have us waiting so long to be reunited with our spouses like if we are criminal paying a sentence.

I usually send mine in Spanish. I feel it's more formal... "Usted", agradecida, etc :P I work with the public and sometimes I feel Spanish is a more polite language than English. Lol...

Ok no wonder that is true i always send in english cuz what if they write back in their weird wording they might just confuse me lol

BUT- the Ready status says that they are ready for to set up the interview, and they already had the interview... I think that is what's confusing me:

Your case is ready for your interview when scheduled at the U.S. Consular section. If you have already scheduled an appointment for an interview, please prepare your documents as directed in your appointment letter and appear at the consulate on the appointed date and time. Otherwise, please wait until you have been notified of your interview appointment. Additional information about how Immigrant Visa interview appointments are scheduled can be found at: http://travel.state..../info_3731.html

Are there more than one status for READY? thanks guys!

I dont think they need to interview anymore they just havent changed her status to AP because she is not in AP and they cant change it to issue either until hes done with AP so they have just left it with ready

I just had a thought... when I look up our case number- 2 searches appear

SNSXXXXXXXXXX 01 (Administrative Processing- updated August 19th)
SNSXXXXXXXXXX 02 (Ready: for interview at embassy- updated August 20th)

Since I am applying for my fiancé and his daughter- do you think one of these numbers is his visa and one is hers? Does anyone else have experience with applying for 2 people on the same visa?  Could this mean that one is ready, and we are only waiting on the other? But, it's weird because they already had the interview on Aug. 14th... When I called DOS- they just say that we are in administrative processing...

Yes one is for him the other his daughter they cant issue hers until the principals visa is issued he is the one in AP once he is done with AP both visas will be issued

Yes let's hope all gets approved for us all...I'm getting upset looking at how the system is running things. It is my country and I love it will all my heart but the u.s. has to get the ball rolling. We have all been separated for a very long time. With gods help its lla possible. We just have to be patient. God has it worked out for us.

All we can do is be patient and know that God is with us and with him all things are possible we just got to believe and not lose faith in him soon all this will be over for us all. Keep up with those prayers God knows all our needs.

Well, let's hope this so called "long term AP" doesn't take a very long. It's not like El Salvador is a high risk country. I mean, aren't the US and ES allies? That day at the interview, my husband wasn't asked tons of questions. The only question CO gave him is if he had a common child with me. He said yes and CO asked if he brought his birth certificate. He said he didn't have it but he brought the temporary version and CO accepted it. CO said everything looks good but he wanted the 1040 tax document of the year 2012 from our joint sponsor. He said that when he sends out this paper, his visa is approved. He was never told he is going to put on administrative processing. My husband never had serious trouble. He never has been to the USA. He is not part of the gang. He is a normal man who only wishes to have a life in the US with me and our son. My husband is nothing in El Salvador. He hates the situation he lives in. This country is so poor and dangerous and well, what else can't I say? I have lived there and it's not easy to live in this country. Wish me luck and let's hope things turns out great for all of us.

Lets keep our hopes up that they dont take too long.and this is resolved soon. And the situation is bad in el salvador i spent close to 5 months living there its dangerous theres no future for people in that country.

Never heard of legally required AP its just background checks they are doing. If he had problems when he was young and he turned in the proceso judicial and hasnt had any problems since then he should be fine.

Have they updated your status on ceac from that email they sent you. They never updated mine

Yeah thats the only threat i thought of too our husbands dont have any affiliation so not to worry. Yes hopeful something will happen this weeks for all of us.

My god. mad.gif

I don't know about you guys but yesterday I was randomly checking out El Salvador's ustraveldocs.com and I noticed something different on Other Information on Application Pending Further Action page (aka 221(g) or Administrative Processing).
  Other Information
Some visa applications require further administrative processing, which takes additional time after your interview with a consular officer. You will be advised of this possibility during your interview. Most administrative processing is resolved within 60 days of your visa interview, but some cases can take up to eight months. When additional administrative processing is required, the length of processing time will vary based on the circumstances of each case. You are reminded to apply early for your visa, well in advance of your anticipated date of travel.

I swear last time I was at that page, this little text wasn't there.

Wow i think that kind of processing is for AP that is background checks with the government here in Washington and those AP are mostly for high alert countries with terrorism. Dont worry thats not what we are in because they have asked our husbands for more documents and most cases like that i have seen they dont anything from them after their interview.

You know, when my husband went to the interview, my son was 1 and a half month old at the time and I seriously thought he would here when the baby turned 2 months.

I know it's unfair. I wonder why other Salvadorans got their visas in less than a week while others have to wait and wait and wait...

I wonder too some seem to get it quick i guess it depends on the mood they are in the day of the interview. The CO was really nice to him but kept finding excuse not to issue that day the visa he kept saying i need to check with dhs if you paid your bond for voluntary departure my husband told yes i did heres the receipt he told oh ok nevermind then he saw that he had a work permit when he was here and decided to ask for his first work permit application he didnt have it with him.

Waivers (I-601 and I-212) and Administrative Processes (221g)Administrative Processing in El Salvador

Do all of the 'Administrative Processing' updates say the same thing?

Mine says:
Your visa case is currently undergoing necessary administrative processing. This processing can take several weeks. Please follow any instructions provided by the Consular Officer at the time of your interview. If further information is needed, you will be contacted. If your visa application is approved, it will be processed and mailed/available within two business days. Under the U.S. Immigration and Nationality Act, Immigrant Visas for "Diversity Visas" cannot be issued after September 30th of the year in which you were selected to apply for a Diversity Visa. For example, entrants into the Diversity Visa Program in Fall of 2011 were selected for Diversity Visa 2012 Program, and selectees MUST apply and receive their visa prior to September 30, 2012 otherwise they lose eligibility to receive a Diversity Immigrant Visa, regardless of additional administrative processing. In addition, please note that some immigrant visas may not be able to be issued if the annual numerical limit for that category has been reached.

Just wondering since there are different types of administrative processing, that there might be different wording?

Thats what mine says too i dont know what the other AP says
