So yes im a bit of a brain fart and need someone to explain to me what im doing..! i try reading all these forums but im just confused as to whats right now.
I got my husband to call a military helpline for visas and guess what!!...They dont know what the CR-1 is.
We have been married 2 months tomorrow and filed NOTHING mad.gif

Who decides if we are applying for the K3 or CR-1? I thought we do but i somehow read that ''they'' chose the CR-1 while filing the I-130 or something like that wacko.gif

Is there anyone who could send me a PM so i can get in contact and ask questions because otherwise im going to be in germany forever unsure.gif

2 questions:

your profile says you're from the UK; but you mention you live in Germany. So my questions are:

1.- Do you reside in Germany? of the UK?
2.- Do you live with your husband abroad?

The reason I ask is because if you live together abroad, you might be eligible for Direct Consular Filing - which results in a CR-1 visa.

and kilcristina, ####### your comment. Not cool

I live in germany because my dad is in the british army, im dual national..my mum is german. I see myself as british but i have both passports.

My husband is in the states, he was stationed here in germany but PCSd back to america in january.

you decide what visa you want...

Either spousal visa process begins with the I-130... plain and simple... you want a spousal visa you need the I-130.

If you only want the IR-1/CR-1 visa then the I-130 is all that is needed to start...

If you want a K-3 then you would file the I-129F in addition to the I-130... Most people nowadays choose not to do the K-3 route as the I-130 petition approvals have sped up quite a bit compared to just a few years ago where there is only a small difference in overall processing times and the overall cost for the IR/CR visa is much less

Thank you so much for replying i really appreciate it. Do we have to note it anywhere that we are applying for the CR-1 seen as for the CR-1 and K3 you have to file the I-130. How do they know what we are after?

So i started working in 2007 and was in college and school before that, Do they want to know that too or is it just about the jobs ive had since 2007?
They want to know your employment history for the 5-year period - if unemployed during any of that time - list it as 'unemployed' or 'student' - don't leave time-gaps.
Also where do i find the additional sheet? or do i just use a blank sheet?
Just a blank sheet - be sure to include the question # as a reference (so they'll know what question your reply is in regards to.

Thank you!

Between 2004 and 2007 i was in 4 different schools due to moving around with my dad being in the army..im guessing i have to put all the addresses of these to right?

Employment question is Nr. 4? They dont have numbers next to them so im not sure.

Where it says this form is submitted in connection with an application for: What one do i put if im applying for the CR-1?

Im sorry of im bugging with all these questions but i really dont want to get anything wrong.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresFiling them out with Adobe Reader??

We filled out all the forms with the pc, too. Didn't have any problems.

I looked over all our completed pdf's (I-130, G-325a, DS-230) and there was plenty of space for city and country of birth.

We used Foxit Reader for all of them. I am pretty sure, though, that the Acrobat Reader can do all of that, too.

Maybe I am missing something. Which form are you referring to?

Its on the G325a where i am having the problems with the dates and fitting in osnabruck, germany. When i download it, it opens it with Adobe reader and i cant change anything on there like the size of the spaces as its a secure document.

Quick question on the side...whats the DS-230?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresFiling them out with Adobe Reader??

Use number format for the dates mm/dd/yr

If the name is too long then leave that blank and hand write the name on the printed form.

For the dates do i not need to put the full year? and not just 09

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresFiling them out with Adobe Reader??
As me and hubby have messy writing i figured it would look neater if we filled all the papers out on the comp. When i download the forms and fill them out there is never enough space, e.g City and country of birth i can only fit in Osnabrueck, Ger! What can i do? Do i need to write the rest on a seperate sheet?
Its the same with the months on the months i can always only fit in 3 letters and the dates there is always the last number cut off
on the examples it shows the whole name of the month on them so im guessing thats the right way.

Also at the bottom where it says alien registration number everytime i try and type non it comes up with loads of zeros?!

Did anyone else do it all on the computer?? Any tips??

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresmost likey not allowed to visit?
Quote: Separation from family may be longer than if filing for a K-3 Visa (or K-1 visa for a non-married fiance). The applicant will most likely not be able to enter the US while their IR1-CR-1 Visa is being processed.

What if i can prove that i still have a job here in germany? are the chances high that they will not allow me to visit my husband?

If you married for love, yes you do.
You need to prove that in your visa. It includes things such as joint bills together, plane ticket stubs to visiting eachother, pictures, etc. I didn't do a CR-1, so I'm not exactly sure what to add.

This might be able to help though.

after we got married we started renting a townhouse that we both signed for even though i dont live there yet, is that proof too?? Im not sure i have plane tickets anymore but i have the stamps in my passport?!?!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresGerman police certificate
I havent read anywhere that i need to get my german police certificate translated but think i read something along the lines that it has to be the same language as the country the visa will be give in?!?

I also found this
1: If the beneficiary’s interview will be in their native country, all documents from that country may not need to be translated. All documents from outside their native country should be translated in English with an accompanying certification from the translator, and the original language documents.

Does anybody know if it has to be translated or not?

When it comes to my medical, where do i go? i know not all doctors do it so is there anywhere, where i can find out where i have to go?

What exactly are the next steps..i have read through some of the guides but would feel alot more confident and sure about this all if i read it from someone who has just done it.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresQuestions about medical?
So i read yesterday that if i go for my medical in dortmund it could cost 155euros, what it gods name does this cover for so much money??? && it takes 3 hours?? what exactly do they do?

I also read this: If you have an early morning interview, you can have your medical completed after the interview (walk-in). Be sure to mention it during your document check. Otherwise, the Consulate will not guarantee that you get to the doctor in time. The results will be faxed by the panel physician to the Consulate.

Does anybody know how it is possible to get this? I live in elmpt and it is going to cost so much money to get a train to the closiest doctor which is dortmund one day and then on another day get the train to frankfurt. I also work full time so it would be alot eaiser if its possible to do it all in one day. If i cant do it on the same day obviously my visa comes before my job but id prefer to not miss out on to much work as its loosing out on much needed money.

No, EP is where everything is sent electronically. Even the packets are scanned as PDFs.

Only China and Canada have that option, apparently.

The rest of us have to send it in via postal mail.

Have you given them your email IDs yet????
