Congratulations!!

Now sit back and relax smile.gif

And try not to spend too much time on VisaJourney... it'll drive ya nuts! blink.gif If you don't believe me, just ask my robotic pet rock...

Gratzies!! Can defo recommend sitting back and relaxing - chilling out is defo the way forward laughing.gif

As for not spending too much time on VJ - I think I would have been driven nuts *not* going on here - there is a fantastic community atmosphere, support and advice every step of the way and shoulders to cry on when you need them biggrin.gif

Good luck on your journey! *hugs*

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresMy fiance forgot to date the g325a (gulp)
Defo - you can date it yourself - it shouldn't be a problem smile.gif I think my OH altered some things on ours too - we got a touch yesterday biggrin.gif Of course that might be an RFE but at this point I am just glad to know it hasn't fallen down the back of a filing cabinet somewhere laughing.gif

Also it helps to have the photos time stamped where you set your camera to print the time/date on the photos smile.gif My camera doesn't have that option sad.gif

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresmy request for military expedite
It can't hurt to ask again - after all it was them who advised you 30 days. Of course they might try and say it was 30 working days but you can always quote the direct text smile.gif I can't see them burning your file for calling a few more times to chase things up though biggrin.gif

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresGoing through US Immigration in Dublin
Thank you!! I thought it was cheap to get to Ontario, CA!! Can't get direct flights anywhere so it makes for a longer trip but just want to fly across the Atlantic without stressing about Immigration!! smile.gif

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresGoing through US Immigration in Dublin
Ok so I am *finally* going to book my flights to the US for Feb and I will be going through Dublin (yay for Ryanair!). I just wondered if there was anything specific I had to do to go through immigration in Dublin - is it automatic? Or do I have to ask specifically to do it?

I'm just trying to figure out how it all works really - I know that I can do it, I just don't know the finer details etc. As I have NOA2 now I will obviously be bringing relevant paperwork just to be on the safe side but I am still a little hazy on some of the finer points of how it actually works!!

Any advice welcome!! biggrin.gif

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK-1 Stategy to save time
Defo - we didn't know what we were doing and even though that didn't delay us (although has caused some... interesting compromises to be made!!!) when I sent the evidence to my OH in the US it still took four weeks as the package was sent back - apparently it was addressed wrongly... of course it was addressed as I always address things to him, only this time it actually mattered!!

Owel - 'tis in the past and am proud to be a July Filer smile.gif Have made some great friends smile.gif

Yes but it still shows ongoing communication - maybe an overview of dates would suffice with a couple of conversation examples... Ok - it might not be necessary but I know I would prefer to have too much info than not enough smile.gif

Jeremy is the guru on this so I have sent him an e-mail about it - no doubt you will have a decent answer before he gets back to me though!!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresInstant message logs
Well - it might be a bit long winded but you could always go through and read different sections from different times - you won't need everything so you could just look conversations every month or so - you can pick ones you think are suitable biggrin.gif

I know Jeremy did a screen print of e-mails we had sent to each other showing dates and subject headings - that was like 20 pages long in itself... (prolly shouldn't have sent the whole thing but...)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresMarrying First Cousin
I never knew that biggrin.gif

I'm pretty certain in the UK it is fine to marry your first cousin but illegal to marry your second cousin... or something like that... In fact when I was younger I used to chase my cousin around the house trying to kiss him laughing.gif

Gratzies!!!! biggrin.gifI have no clue what comes after either - i figure I'll let my friends go through it first, iron out all the wrinkles and figure things out, then annoy them all the time with questions laughing.gif laughing.gif laughing.gif

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduressilly question...
Defo - go for it and good luck!! You might hit delays and like the above posters said - you can delay things a little at later stages anyway smile.gif I am not moving until the end of June now so if I get my packet 3 before I go to visit the US in Feb I am not going to send it back until after anyawy - an interview date while I am away would not be good!!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTouches
CBR - I can totally understand why you would OCD over it though - you have had so many touches it must be driving you nuts!!!

I don't think it can be helped though... it does drive you crazy blink.gif When you get nearer your time and see other people who filed the same time as you get approved then you start to get obsessed.... at least I did!!!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures???????important question???????
It is hard work but I am a strong believer in that if you are meant to be together then you will overcome any hardships life throws at you smile.gif My OH and I have gone up to 4 months+ without seeing each other and I know others have gone much longer. Of course the initial "honeymoon period" cools off but that is when you start to see your OH without the blinkers on and decide if they are still the person you want to be with smile.gif

You'll get there - keep your chin up and think positive!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresLetter from Employer
Ok - here is the letter I drafted using the example posted and a few additions:

To Whom It May Concern,

I am writing to confirm that [NAME] has been employed full-time with [EMPLOYMENT AGENCY] since July 23rd 2007 as an Administrative Assistant, and is an employee in good standing with an hourly wage of £7. I can confirm that [NAME] will be returning to work for [EMPLOYMENT AGENCY] following her holiday to the USA on Monday March 3rd 2008.

Signed

[NAME, Supervisor (or other position)]

Can anyone think of anything else to add? Re-word some parts? I am employed with a company through an employment agency as a temp but I obviously want to avoid using the word temp in the letter as it doesn't really suggest ties to my home country. I haven't heard back from the agency yet but will post when I do smile.gif

@kgnj - this is for entering the US while applying for the visa - not to do with the affidavit of support smile.gif

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresLetter from Employer
Lol - yeah it's a party - hadn't thought of it like that laughing.gif But yeah - what we are doing is totally legal - it just looks dodgy to an IO because it is easy to prove you are married but not so easy to prove you aren't!!

Like I said - I don't think I will get any problems but I want to be prepared in case they do ask questions smile.gif I wish I could get more excited about it but I worry about Immigration more than I am excited!! I am so paranoid I don't even want to post pics on facebook or anything just in case it looks bad if someone finds out!!!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresLetter from Employer
I'm not getting legally married.... oh this is soo frustrating......

We are having a ceremony with no legalities - no license, no certificate, no signing the register because we are not stupid enough to breach visa conditions. We booked the wedding back in April when we were being quoted 6-7 month processing times and didn't know any better.

In order to save ourselves and our families thousands of dollars we decided to go ahead with the ceremony and have a legal wedding later on the K-1 visa...

Does that make sense?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresLetter from Employer
Thanks CBR! I kinda adapted it a bit anyway but here are our plans (please for those of you who don't know me, please don't judge me - we are merely trying to make the best of a bad situation tongue.gif)

[nutshell]
Going to the US in Feb for three weeks to have our wedding ceremony (non-legal) as everything was already booked. Having honeymoon then returning to UK to wait out rest of visa. Have no intention of staying/breaching visa conditions because frankly, I am not a moron - just a little misinformed when we started this whole process. Wanted letter to confirm I will be returning to work to show if Immigration so desire. I work for an agency as a long term-temp (have been working for a company since July that the agency put me with) but my employer is actually the agency and not the company i am working at if that makes sense.
[/nutshell]

I'm at home now or I could have posted what I sent to the agency - I'll have to wait til Monday now smile.gif

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresLetter from Employer
Hi guys!

I'm trying to draft a letter from my "employer" which is basically the agency I work for. So far I have one sentence:

"I am writing to confirm that X will be returning to work for Y following her holiday to the USA on Monday March 3rd 2008."

It just seems a little... sparse...? Or is this really all I need with some headed paper?!

An answer in the next five minutes so I can send the mail might be a bit hopeful but would be greatly appreciated if so!!!

Cheers!!

Am just worried because I really don't have ties to my country that I can prove - work as a temp for an agency and live with my mum!! Am trying to get letter from agency but... hopefully I won't need it smile.gif

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFiance Visit To US Citizen
Ouchies! I stayed over there for 7 weeks last summer but haven't been over there since April 2007. I think I had more questions in April because I gave a residential address where I was staying tongue.gif Not sure whether to do the same this time or put a hotel - we don't stay at the residential address anyway - it is just a central point of contact...

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFiance Visit To US Citizen
See for me - whether I get turned away in Dublin or the US - we are having a non-legal wedding (no license etc so won't breach visa conditions) and all my family are flying out so... I figured that if I get through then at least I can relax over the Altlantic smile.gif

It's nice to hear of people who had no problems as well - I think (correct me if I am wrong) but people who have difficulty communicating in English have more issues because IOs have been known to put words into their mouths sad.gif

I'm going through US immigration in Dublin. Although again, I can't see any reason for them to turn us away - we aren't doing anything illegal smile.gif We just have to make sure we cover all the options smile.gif

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFiance Visit To US Citizen
Most people suggest just going in and saying you are visiting friends/partner/boyfriend/girlfriend/family/fiance(e). You don't need to even mention the visa unless they ask. It is recommended that when you go through immigration that you don't offer any information unless they ask for it but it is advisable to have it on hand in case they do!

I am (attempting *gulp*) entry into the US next month and intend to say I am visiting my boyfriend for Valentine's Day. I will bring my NOA1/2 and as much as I can of ties to my home country (which isn't much tongue.gif). I will answer questions honestly and fingers crossed it should be fine smile.gif They only turn you away if they feel you are going to a) do something illegal or cool.gif overstay your welcome smile.gif

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresOne mor elittle question
I'm not sure of all the ins and outs of it as I haven't been through it just yet and I am not in your situation (I am also in work which makes it hard to investigate here!!) but I do know that if you are below the 125% poverty line then you will need a co-sponsor when you fill in the I-134 (is that right?)

Apologies for not being more specific!! It shouldn't have any real bearing on your application though unless you can't find a co-sponsor smile.gif

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK1 from Germany...unclear...help?
Haha - ok - you sound like me smile.gif I've been through the exact same thing so hopefully I can help smile.gif

The date you filed means you shouldn't necessarily hear anything yet. It took me 152 days to get my NOA2 and it took many others longer. As far as I can tell, CSC is just beginning to process early August Filers while they finish up us July lot smile.gif You might hear something in a month or so - maybe earlier if you are one of the lucky ones but seriously nothing to worry about just yet smile.gif

As for booking the ceremony - we did the same thing - as the whole process is taking so much longer at the moment than it was when we booked our wedding we are now having to settle for a non-legal wedding in February as my family had booked tickets, we put deposits down etc as well - it means I have to try to enter the US next month (I should be fine but am nervous about it) and then return to the UK to wait out the rest of the visa. Then I will go out and we will have a legally binding ceremony to fulfill visa conditions in the summer smile.gif You should be fine - you have allowed 11 months which is good although there can still be nightmare situations where you might not get it in time (if your case goes into extended review or whatever). Don't panic just yet but if you get to a point where you are worried I would seriously consider your other options smile.gif We had to and we've picked what we think is the best choice for us - it is different for everyone smile.gif

I am sure you will be fine but I wish you all the luck in the world - hopefully you'll be luckier than us!! laughing.gif

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhat Made You Choose The K-1 Visa Instead Of the Spouse Visa?
We honestly didn't know much about the whole process when we started and again - we felt that by going through the K-1 we could continue our relationship and see how things went while applying for the visa - if things didn't work out in the meantime then at least we hadn't just got married the immediately put the pressures of a long distance relationship onto it smile.gif

Needless to say two years on we are very happy - we have pretty much mastered (if yuo ever can!) the long distance relationship and are looknig forward to the challenges of living our future lives together smile.gif

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedureswhats next after NOA2?
If you want a tiny step by step:

Receive NOA2 hard copy
Case gets forward to NVC (up to 4 wks + depending on service centre)
NVC send case to embassy
Embassy send packet 3 to beneficiary
Fill in more paperwork etc, book medical
Send forms back
Wait on packet 4 and interview date (again goes to beneficiary)
Attend interview

That's it pretty simplified - you can see the rough timeline from people's siggies and also if you look at the dates to fill in in the VJ timelines then that will give you an idea smile.gif
