ThailandPacket 3

I dont understand why people are saying send the documents. They are all in PDF. You can fill them in for your fiance e mail it and she can print it out. The only one that is any issue is the online evisa forum and that one when you are done you can print to PDF then mail to your fiance.

Am I missing something here for the forms?

Prepare all docs required now for submission after you are SURE the case is an the I V section. Doubtful there will be any letter as I think they use email now. Keep in mind that these cases are sent to the consulate section first and then transferred to the I V section across the street which takes longer than you would think. Due to this the I V section would report they don't have the case if you inquire too early.

Your fiancée should begin now to obtain the police report. Last Oct they changed the system to include a charge of about 300 baht. Have her call the BKK police to confirm the fee and how its paid. If there is no need for a serious background check she will have it in about 2 weeks. If you send me a P M I will forward a direct line phone number to the right cops or she can just call the reception. There is a lot of bad info about obtaining these reports most of which simply isn't true. I just got one for someone and it went very well.

She can go at anytime now to have her medical done. It is good for about 6 months. It takes a few hours and she will leave with the docs to send or submit to the embassy. She has time to get her shots at her local doctor to save money. If that is done she will need to make sure she brings the records to the hospital.

Send her your signed 134 now. It is not a requirement to submit tax info but it is a good idea. Get this free from IRS on the web. Takes about a week to receive or get in in person from your local IRS office.

There will be a visa fee that she can pay at a Thai post office. This can be done at any time including the day before her interview. There is a Thai post office just across the street from the embassy behind the high rise building for example. Its just to the left of the parking lot down a little soi.

So once the documents leave NVC and get to the Embassy prepare our docs I need the NVC number first right. That is the case number that is used for the rest of this process?

Its my w2 and all the stuff submitted with my taxes shes has all copies of it and the embassy site did not request tax transcripts. The Thai embassy site did not request a tax transcript but it states. My taxes are straight forward. Its my wage and my house. Thats it.

I also have my statement from work with the county seal stating my position and my wage.

ThailandThailand and NVC

Glad you got a laugh out of it but you may want to know what's reality. They don't have in the system until they scan the bar code into the system. So it may be in the mail room but not moving thru the system yet. I am surprised they acknowledged they even have it at this point.

The NVC number will be all you need to work with the embassy. The case will probably or hopefully be gone to BKK by the time you get the number. NVC doesn't do much with these cases.

All cases forwarded to BKK go to the consulate section across the street from the embassy where the I V section is. This causes a small delay in the I V section being able to say they have the case. Do not send in the P 3 info until you are certain they have the case. When you are send it in even if you don't get a notification from them.

Have you sent her a 134 with a tax transcript for at least one year? Tax info isn't a requirement but it is a good idea.

She has a copy of my whole w2 information and my works information stating in stamped format and noterized on my income. It should be more then enough I would think.

ThailandThailand and NVC

So 12 days now 9 of them Buisness and the NVC has recieved her file they said they cannot give me a case number other then my WAC cause its not in the system yet. Made me chuckle cause I guess if they say they have it its in the system.

Anyhow Questions and I posted this in thailand because I feel it deals more with Thailand then the NVC so please dont move it :)

When we get the NVC case number is this the number we use for the rest of our K1 Trip or will we get yet another at the embassy?

How long do you guess it will take to get the number and move along to BKK?

ThailandPacket 3 and packet 4

I didn't include mine in packet 3 as it took 3 weeks to get it so i sent the rest except police records. On interview day, i provided them with my police record and it was not a problem.

Thank you so much! Thats great news!

Just a quick question the instructions for packet 3 and packet 4 state 2 2x2 photoes. Do you include this in both packets?

Also on packet 3. Can you send in packet three without a police report and give it on interview? I have been hearing thai girls are doing this on my fiances site. I told mine no for now.

If your wife will have a cell phone go with Boost Mobile. They have a international calling for 10 dollars a month and the shrinkage plan. I think im paying 55 dollars for my unlimited cell packet. It runs off Sprints networks so it works well. Just cant use it for areas where you would be roaming.

ThailandBest Airline & POE for a Thai

I was thinking about this since Gigi will be comming soon. I am sending her Delta since that is the flight I took twice now and I can walk her though Narita and portland with my eyes closed. That and Narita has AC again last I checked.

I would say use the airline you feel yourself comfy flying and have done yourself. That gives you experiance to help your SO get to where you are.

ThailandThai Police Cert

Just to confirm my experience for thai police cert, its exactly what Joshandgigi posted. And yes they asked for usc bio page, but i didnt have it w/ me coz it was not stated anywhere that it was needed, only had naturalization cert at that time and they took it though one police wasnt sure that it would be ok, but in the end i got it. Oh well, i thought the embassy should have included usc bio page in the instruction in packet 3 on how to get thai police cert, but again house registration was asked from me on interview day though it was not stated anywhere in packet 3 or 4, was it?

So it looks like were not the only one.

joshandgigiMaleThailand2013-07-08 12:42:00
ThailandThai Police Cert

I don't have anything to add to this.  All I can say is that my wife never went to get the police report on her own.  She paid some lawyer 5k THB in Chiang Mai to deal with it so she didn't have to travel to Bangkok and back.

Any time a Thai deals with the police, and the police know that there is a farang involved, the price/bribe/teamoney whatever you want to call it, is going to go up.  Same thing when the police deal directly with a farang.

I'll tell a story.  There's a guy that I worked with when I lived there.  He's from the U.S.  He would travel from his home in Rayong to BKK every Monday morning to work and then travel back home on Friday every week.  This guy is about 6'4" and 250 or so, so he sticks out there.  Well it's very common for him to get pulled over and jacked up by the cops.  Usually costs him 100 THB or so.  $3 U.S. not a big deal.  One day they the stopped him twice on the same highway.  Different cops.  He got pi$$ed the second time, and got his wife on the phone etc.  Basically she just told him pay the 100 THB.  I guess he just started looking at it as an additional toll.

Another story.  I was standing outside MBK near the BTS station smoking.  I threw down my cigarette butt when I was finished and went to walk back into the mall.  Two cops walked up to me and each grabbed one of my arms and said "come with us"  So I went with them to this desk they had set up.  There's was another farang there with his Thai girlfriend.  I had only been in Thailand for less than a month at this point, so I called the (bar)girl/long-haired dictionary I was with at the time and told her to come out of the store.  She talked to the cops and explained to me that since I threw my cigarette butt down there's a fine for littering.  500THB.  I gave the cop the money.  He told the girl, "ask him if he wants a receipt."  Of course I said no.  The cop took the 500 THB, folded it up and put it in his front shirt pocket and said have a nice day.  Later after living in Thailand for awhile, I learned that these guys weren't really cops at all, and if I would have just told them to pi$$ off, there wasn't much they could do about it.

That's just the way it is.  And it's not just the police.  There's some kind of mentality going on there where they assume that farangs have an unlimited supply of money.

I totaly understand about this. I understand about bribes ect and corruption. Ive read alot and have seen it happen to other Farang. I have been stopped and asked questions. I think since I speak thai decently im short I allways smile and just sorta fit in. Even with the police ive run into, they have been polite to me and have even changed their minds on any type bribes. I am not sure if its just good luck or I have not ran into someone who thinks im actualy a ATM Machine. My Thai friends and fiances family have never expected a cent from me none of them are upper class and they just enjoy my company and love practicing english with me. Last trip I had we went to a Navy yard and 8 of my friends showed up from differnt parts of BKK they all paid for dinner and the gas there and back. I never paid a cent.

My  Thai friends and soon to be family stick up for me too when asked or talked to. Doesnt matter if its a vendor or a police officer. Ive allways politely thanked  police officers when they start talking to me for keeping me safe in Thailand while im there. It seems to give some face. I guess ive allways been one to defuse a situation before it happens too.

Maybe I am silly for thinking that but I havent ran into any issues yet and I dont think I will. Maybe its because im running into real police because im not sitting in congested Farang areas. Maybe I just have good Karma for helping keep Thailand clean. I guess Ill never know.

Josh

ThailandThai Police Cert

Thanks but I have been in the USA for years now. I have never seen a situation where the USCs passport was required to get a police cert. I think people should be very careful in giving this info to anyone including the Thai cops. Usually the NOA will be enough. That is if there is anything usual about this aspect.

If I was in thailand and asked for my passport I would let them see it a picture isnt any differnt. The hotels want copies of it and some bike shops hold onto it. I dont see your point.

Was that a scan of the passport or the beneficiary, or the petitioner?

They wanted my front page of my passport. Im the petitioner.

So She had a photo of it from her phone in case I lost my passport and she just printed it out and that was good enough for them.

ThailandAnybody have problems with your family excepting your new foreign spouse?

She has been here three months.  My family appears to like her as well, but apparently as a girl friend not as a wife.

Family is important to Thai people I totaly understand that. Maybe try to win some hearts by having a friend send some gifts like scarfs or something simple from Thailand and tell them it was late on a boat and you diddnt want to say anything when she got here because you diddnt know if they would ever arrive. Sometimes simple things that truely feel from the heart like that can win people over. Maybe have a Bi Weekly Thai dinner you two cook for your family or maybe just find that one family member who likes her and if they hit it off it will flood into the family?

ThailandAnybody have problems with your family excepting your new foreign spouse?

My family was brought in with my fiance. Shes easy to love. We will be married on the 5th of oct and already shes being treated as if shes a family member. Heck my familys visited me more times since shes been here the last 3 weeks then the 5 years I have lived at my house.

If shes still in thailand have you tried getting premium skype and inviting them to talk to your fiance.

My family started sending letters. They all have line and chat with her and skyped with her while they were in thailand. They also sent eachother gifts.

ThailandPictures! Pictures! Pictures!

Thai people are always up for pictures. Heck some even go to the beach 5 hours away to get out of a car take a picture and bring it home to show what they did for the weekend. I think maybe with the Thai culture they think that if there's not lots of pictures there's little evidence. My wife takes pictures all the time and so does her friends in Thailand and across the world so I think that's why its semi important to everyone.

ThailandGetting a housewife credit

Adding someone as an authorized user doesn't build them credit.  They can charge to the card but if you don't pay they have no legal responsibility to the account.  Most CC will tell you this if you ask will you report this card to her credit.  It's called piggybacking as described above and because so many people did it to build credit and then the economy collapsed they don't report it anymore as it's inaccurate to the consumers spending.  You could have anyone piggyback years ago and never had met the person.  Adding her name to utility bills won't build credit either as your not borrowing money and then paying it back.

I'm in the same boat and she got a secured credit card on her own to build credit.

As for proving relationship:

Joint accounts (we don't have any) but you can use them

Adding name to house (not really sure what's the point for you) I'm in the same situation

Name on car title (my car is paid off and she can't drive)  again pointless, as I'd have to insure her as a driver without a drivers license

Insurance (rental apartment is on both our names, house in other state is under only mine) I'll bring this document in

Healthcare, both our names are on the health plan with my work  I'll bring this to the interview

Life Insurance, she is listed as my beneficiary, I'll bring this to the interview

Joint filing taxes, I haven't filed 2013 as I'm still waiting for overseas documents.  Even if I filed now it wouldn't be joint as we got married 3 months ago.  I don't understand this one as sometimes it's beneficial to both to be married filing separately.

Are you concerned about building credit for the Mrs. or concerned about proving the relationship?

Im just planning ahead. we just did the AOS and want to make sure I start putting ducks in a row. Time tends to fly with my wife because were doing so much :o) I just want to make sure to plan now instead of later. Its the way I am and in my minds eye I would die if for some stupid reason I had a officer on a bad day in 2 years say Oh no theres not enough and she goes home. id rather be ready and full with everything we need and more.

I don't plan on going into debt. I was asking that because we went to do a loan and they refused her as a co signer even though my credit score is very good and my debt ratio is super low too.
