as you some of you know my co-sponser back out on me and now we are scrambling to find a way to get him home.
I make 16,292 min and up to 17540 max (with overtime which I get alot of )
I also only have one tax return from last year which shows ####### on it because I was released by the doctor to go back to work finally. It only was 5k on it as it was the end of the year. Before that I never worked and my ex was the one who filed.

Can I use my SSI of 546 a month as well to add to it. I dont know what I can use for assets..my car is not in my name yet ( almost as I making payments...) I dont have much in savings and I fear this will break us if I cant get him home..we are both bawling and pissed off right now.

My son was a complete jerk about the whole thing and I tried to explain to him about it...yet he made me feel as if I was a burden to him.

I feel horrid inside and feel like dying I do not know what to do.
I JUST WANT HIM HOME and I have no one to cosponser at all...no one

I've been thinking about ways to get around this. I have some but I'm not all too sure how ethical it is. It looks like you're only about $3600 away from meeting the poverty guidelines. Can you temporarily borrow that from a friend or family member? If you put that money into a savings account then you can count it as assets for the affidavit of support. Additionally, if you file your 2008 taxes right away - beginning of Jan - you could submit that with your affidavit of support and your income would be higher than previous years. Is your employer at all flexible with your hours? I don't know how much OT you can pull in the next month but if you can do alot that may pull you over the poverty guidelines in your 2008 tax return. I hope that is helpful. I'm really sorry that you're having a difficult time.

I really hope there is something wrong with all of our timelines and they are wrong. Mine says anywhere from January 12 to February 6!!!!! FEBRUARY! crying.gif

I don't have any clue but a guess - maybe they're taking into account all the days the USCIS will be closed in December. Probably not, i dont think that igors makes predictions based on things like that - but that is something to consider. I will be off from work Dec 24 - Dec 26 and then Dec 31 - Jan 2. I bet most companies have holiday schedules like that. That's alot of days with no USCIS work.

Hello all,

I'm back from my holiday vacation with my fiance. No POE problems to report. They asked him the purpose of his trip. He said visiting. They asked if it was for business and he said no. Then they stamped his passport, no problemo. I barely thought about the NOA2 during the week but now it's back to the waiting room. Shouldn't be too long now.

Congrats on the approvals!!

Question about this:

QUOTE
If asked I was just going to say I was visiting friends & family.
My take on it is - Don't lie at POE but don't offer information they don't ask for.

People say that often on here, but.. isn't it a lie to say your purpose is 'to visit friends and family' when you're there to visit a fiance, and also have a fiance visa pending? I mean it might not be a good idea to mention the visa part, but when you have several stamps at that airport and say it's because you're "visiting friends and family", it seems like a straight out lie to me..

Glass half full or half empty?
There have been a few posts from people who have said at POE 'i'm visiting my fiancee' and they get turned back. This has even been with proof of ties to home country, employment letter etc
In fact when i visit i will be visiting family & friends so it's not an out & out lie.
Is your fiance's parents not going to be your family? and his friends your friends?

I guess you say whatever makes you comfortable, but sure as hell i'm not going to say anyhting that will give POE a perfect opportunity to turn me away.

After 8 visits, half empty. tongue.gif

I've always said boyfriend and fiance, hence why I'm anxious to suddenly change that to "friends and family".. I don't know what they have on file, or if they'll take that as lying if they probe further.. technically though yes, they are my family and friends (or soon to be)..

It's difficult to know what to say for the best when all you want is to get through POE unscathed! The one & only time i mentioned boyfriend i was given a really hard time so since then i've just said family & friends.
Do they put on file who you say you're visiting? On 2 occassions i've not even been asked who i'm visiting just want to see my return ticket.

You're over in about 3weeks aren't you? Hope whatever you decide to say gets you in without any drama.

I don't think it's an outright lie. It isn't giving all the information but my objective is to get my fiance here for a week. I definitely don't want him to lie but if avoiding the word "fiance" will get him into the coutry for a short vacation then I guess that's not being completely honest. My advice to my fiance was to answer the questions truthfully but to avoid the word fiance. I think he's said girlfriend before without any problems. I've definitely said boyfriend to French customs although most of the time they just looked at my passport and stamped it without any questions...

Eh, hopefully this will all be a non-issue on Saturday and I can give some good advice on how to "get through the POE unscathed" as Rob&Dawn put it.

I'm more excited than ever! And let me share my excitement with you, so that maybe I can spread some happiness since some of you seem pretty down.

Each day that passes is a day that we're closer to being united with our future husbands and wives. We really are in the home stretch! The biggest part of our waiting is over, and even for those who are waiting to use the NOA2, the situation will soon be in OUR HANDS and not the government's. At last!

I am so overjoyed for the people who already have their NOA2 and have no doubt that ours are all on the way. I have longer to wait than most of you because I'm technically an August filer, but I'm starting to gather everything. By next week, the cosponsor paperwork will be in a nice little envelope and ready to be mailed. I can't believe it's almost Thanksgiving and we're a mere month or two from an approval.

Christmas is nearing and listening to jazzy holiday music while driving down the snowy roads makes me feel really in love. I miss Sebastian, but the warm, fuzzy feeling of love is way more overwhelming.

Remember, we are all head over heels in love and our stories are INCREDIBLY romantic. This is the stuff books and plays are written about- falling madly in love with an exotic foreigner and fighting all odds to be together. And our stories lead to fluffy white dresses and happily ever after smile.gif.

Keep your chins up! Lots of hugs!

smile.gif Completely agree!

July friends - my fiance is coming to visit me this weekend and wants to use the word "fiancee" if asked who he is here to visit. That makes me very nervous. i don't want him to be turned away. Aubrey, Shannon&Nick and anyone else that has any experience with this, can you remind me what your fiances' said when questioned about their visit? He will have a copy of his lease agreement, his work contract, his itinerary w/ return ticket information and a copy of the NOA1.

Thanks all for your advice. I'm thinking that it'll go smoothly. I mean they usually ask, "what is the purpose of your visit?" He can say "for a vacation" or "visiting for the holidays". "who will you be staying with?" --" At a hotel and with friends." I guess I freaked when he said that'd he'd be honest and say "I'm here to visit my fiance." hahaha I think I'll just have to talk to him. So scared of him being turned away. I swear that he's going back to France after Thanksgiving week! smile.gif

I just wanted to say, even though I had never posted before, I loved reading everyone's warm messages of support - and you guys don't even know each other. It really inspired me to believe in the kindness of strangers, and whilst I'm so happy for everyone who has gone through this awful K1 process and is about to get their NOA2s; sadly, my fiancé has told me he isn't ready for marriage. It breaks my heart as we were sure to get our NOA2 through in a couple of weeks time, but whilst I know the only way we can be together is to get married, we've not even been together a year - and we knew we'd only be marrying for a visa. So, after a lot of crying and talking, we agreed to wait a couple more years, then reapply for the K1 visa. I can't say I'm not scared though - what if the USCIS refuse us just because we withdrew our application the first time round? I'm hoping that this kind of thing happens frequently, with newly engaged couples putting in for their K1, then withdrawing them just to enjoy their relationship a while longer before reapplying the second time a couple of years down the line. Anyway, after that rant, I just want to say - thank you for giving me hope with the visa situation, and you are all in my thoughts - the best of luck to getting your NOA2s, then getting your K1s, and then finally - marrying the one you love.

Hello missbluesky, I just want to offer a few words of encouragement. I'm sure that it was a very difficult decision for you and your SO to withdraw your petition and I think it's very honest and honorable that you and your SO have decided to wait a bit. My SO and I have been dating for 3 1/2 years - 3 years before we decided to petition for the visa, so I know what it's like to wait and wait and wait before you decide to take the plunge. It can be discouraging at times but sometimes its the best route for some people, especially if you're overly cautious like me. I'm sure that you and your SO will be back soon. Best, best, best luck and happy holidays!

Hello July Friends!

Next Saturday I'm going to see my SO. In the K1 guide its says to send your SO a complete copy of the packet with originals of all supporting documents. So when I see my SO, I plan on giving him the complete copy of our 129F packet. As supporting evidence of our relationship, I included copies of my passport stamps - proof that I'd been to France to see him. Do I really need to give my SO my passport just in case the CO asks for it? Does "originals of supporting evidence" refer to documents that establish identity like a birth certificate or a passport, if used as evidence of US citizenship? Or maybe the original of a divorce decree? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hello all. I also posted in the main K1 forum and received some advice from others that have already gone through the process. You can check it out here: http://www.visajourn...h...161952&st=0

I have really have some dilemmas. First it is very difficult , as it is for all, to keep my fiance upbeat. She is really having struggles understanding the system and obviously doesn't want to spend another day alone. Our relationship has been 2 1/2 years and in hindsight I should have moved quicker. I understand our redtape processes as I have lived in the states my whole life. I think with the holidays approaching in a month and a half it is that much more difficult. The other issue is my business, I am in the title industry and we all know about the mortgage crisis. I worry every 2 weeks if I can make payroll or not. I obviously have had a stable check for 5 years and my 3 years worth of sweet IRS returns. But I am hoping I can hold out until she gets an interview date so I can send my financial package. It would be horrible to go through this and at the last moment not be able to show the income to support. Everyday it makes me sick to feel this pressure. Our job market is not very stable, that was an understatement. So immediately finding work in the 11th hour could be difficult. Has anyone thought of what happens if in the final days they can't show the income? Man, my stomach is in knots. ClockWatch2.gif

I didn't really consider this until last night. While I don't think I'm in danger of losing my job, you never know in this economy. I spoke with my mom last night and she agreed to co-sponsor if needed. I agree with Gemmie, maybe you should line up a co-sponsor if needed. Additionally, you could list assets if you have enough.

Yes true, BUT if it is approved why would it matter if he gave approval?? He is not going to be living there anymore? Unless you both plan on heading back one day and he can use that for a good reference..

I never heard of a place doing three months THATS a long time..I wonder IF there is an exception though

ROband Dawn...HAHAHAH You sound like me!!! I would do the same! Lord knows I waiting 1.5 years to see Kai face to face again..I would NOT wait 4 weeks let alone a week (well maybe a week so I can get a decent flight price ROFL!

hmmm that's a good question. I guess that it doesn't matter but my fiance a big one on following the rules, making plans waaaaaaaay in advance, following the plan, not diverting from the plan... We discussed the 3 month thing awhile ago and just built it in our "timeline". I guess it's just important that he leaves his job on a good note, doesn't burn any bridges etc. for references and the like. It's hard for me to imagine that they'd really ask him to stay for 3 months after he gives notice. I suppose that he has to wrap up projects with clients and they need time to find a replacement. I think a month is reasonable - maybe 2 if they really need it. He plans on giving notice once he gets the visa after the interview.

Holidays smile.gif

Right now I'm at work dressed as Strawberry Shortcake but I have no plans for tonight. It's raining outside. I'll be spending Thanksgiving with my SO in Washington DC and NYC. My family is a little annoyed because I always go away for Thanksgiving to spend time with my honey. Christmas will be with my family. I'm looking forward to next year's holiday season - all of them with my SO.

I know that some of us have been a little down about the wait but I'm actually in good spirits. October is over. We'll see alot of movement in November and December. My SO and I were just talking about how we need to start getting our paperwork together. We were kinda on cruise control for the past few months. Back in action!

I just wondered if this is normal practice at their site? There were no new touches btw.

I had the same message. I'm sure it's just a normal security procedure.

It's good to see some nice things happening. Had a small heart attack when the tax transcripts showed up today...I had forgotten about them and mail from the IRS is usually bad. good.gif November is only a few weeks away...

Speaking about tax transcripts, how long did it take you to get them? I ordered mine more than a month ago and still haven't received anything. Not sure if it's a normal waiting period or not. unsure.gif

I ordered mine in August and got them in a week or 2. maybe give the IRS a call and see whats going on or reorder them?

No news for me, no touch since we received the NOA1... Waiting... Are you guys like me, cheking your status online 3 times per day ?

I haven't been checking a whole lot lately. I am signed up for e-mail alerts, so if there is anything going on with my case, I will be notified. Plus I know that realistically nothing is going to happen in the near future... sad.gif

I'm with you. I check about once a week, if that. It always says the same thing 8/01/2008.

Hey everobody, I'm a july filers too so I thought that it could be cool to be a part of this topic. How are you doing guys ? For me it is not so bad for now cuz' I am still in the US with my love, but I'll have to leave in 3 weeks cuz' it will be the end of my 90 days waiver visa. I can't stop thinking of how hard it will be to leave him without to know when I will see him again sad.gif
I hope that the NOA2 won't be too long to get, I don't want to stay in France during months and months.

Anyway, I wish you the best !

Juliette

Hello Juliette! You and I are both July filers, filed at CSC and will go through the embassy in Paris. Maybe our touches, approvals dates etc. will be similar???

I'm not sure why you think VSC is faster...it was at one time, but it isn't anymore. This morning from the list there are 4 approvals out of CSC and 2 out of VSC, all on the 26th. All May filers.

Because Vsc has JUNE approvals...WE have only may...so therefore THEY are faster:) that is why:)

YES they have slowed down but not enough to be where CSC is:)

yes.gif I think they are all too slow for either of us !

You can say that!!!
I just been sad the last week missing kai...Its been over a year since I have seen him physically...I thank GOD for webcams and voice chat LOL

anyway...I been working double shifts so I been BEAT to death this week ..WHICH makes me tired

hope you all are good!!!

A year is tough. sad.gif The longest I've ever gone without seeing Jeremy is 6 months. Keep your head up and get some rest smile.gif. I'm thinking we'll see some approvals of our own in November...hopefully, hopefully!!

The reports of my demise have been greatly exaggerated. whistling.gif

There goes my theory that your parents kidnapped you and were holding you hostage in western Texas. Hang in there, we all relate. You guys will be together sooner than you think. On the bright side, July, August and September are done, so really, we've all got like 1.5 months left... cool.gif

True! Although I filed in late July so I've only served time in August and September but I'm lumped together with the rest of July so once you early July-ers start getting approvals I'll feel better. smile.gif Cheers to the end of September...on it's way.

Helllllllllllo July filers! smile.gif The VSC June filers approvals are atleast encouraging to me. The past few days my timeline dates went from mid-Dec to late Dec/early Jan but the June approvals are a good sign. I filed at CSC so I don't think it affects me or other CSC filers as much but it's still good news and hopeful for all of us. I hope that the July VSC filers hear good news soon!

Okay today the wait is killing me! Althought September is flying by it still seems like November/December is so far away and that is when most of are cases will be processed.

How is everyone else holding up?

kinda dying too. i watched a french foriegn film last night...that made me feel slightly better tongue.gif once everyone starts posting touches (a few months from now) we'll start to feel better.

I think that my fiance will be here in May/June. He has to give his job 3 months notice. 3 months! Some random French law...I don't get it. So I'm thinking visa will be in hand by February/March and he'll arrive May/June. It's a long time but I'm trying to save $$$ before his arrival. I miss him sooo much though. We're planning our Thanksgiving trip so that's lifted my spirits. We're going to spend the week in DC and NYC.

Cham - Sorry it's been rough for you lately. I was there a week or 2 ago. It'll get better. Ahhh this waiting.

Yeah the 90 days starts once your fiance arrives in the US.

Back to work...

Have you guys checked your timelines lately? It's insane how fast they are moving the dates up...maybe all those extra people and higher fees helped. I've gone from mid December to Last week of November over the last month. kicking.gif

Yeah I have. My fiance checks it nearly everyday and it keeps moving up. I've gone from early Jan to mid/late December.

No worries Aubrey! we all have bad days! i'm flown into a couple rages before! i'm real sad today too, sooo lonely...just want my life with him to begin!
(Sorry about ur kitty, hope he gets better! i have 3 myself, love them to bits!)

Hang in there! we all understand...its real hard to deal with! really hard and painful! But hey, you found the love of your life! If this is what you have to go through to be with him, isnt it worth it?
I have hard days where i thought, forget it, its too hard! i'll just be single and call this all off!
But I cant live without him! He's my best friend and my love, if this is what i must endure, i will!
Be strong!!! You'll get your happy day too soon! *HUGS*

I'm right there with you. I've gotten pretty sad the past couple of weeks but I spoke with my fiance on the phone last night. It made me feel better. It's hard to start planning your life together, to get so excited about it, but still knowing that its so far away. Atleast my fiance and I will have a short visit together around Thanksgiving. I'm going to buy my tickets soon. smile.gif
