Thanks Danu, and all re: the dress.

SS, I LOVE that dress that Jenelyn picked out! So cute, and beautiful! I like the short ones. smile.gif

I wish there was a David's Bridal near me, but I don't think so. If there is, it's in Toronto, which is a 2 hour drive away. Not too bad, but far enough. I don't buy many things online, and have come to realize that I reeeeally need to try stuff on before I decide if I like it. laughing.gif I'm jealous of the David's Bridal deals! My dress is still pretty cheap, but a slight bit over my budget. Are you guys getting any alterations done, and if so, how much do you expect it will cost?

Back to NOA2.... for the support financial documents that are needed for the next steps... how long has it taken for you guys to get them in? My fiance hasn't got his yet, and I'm a bit concerned.

My dress at DB cost me $450, I am sure that DaVinci dress would have been over $1000! Its the same style! I saw it in a wedding magazine after I had bought it from DB and was glad I did, it said compare to DB style, sorry but im happy with my DB dress! LOL!

I'm not honestly sure how much I will be charged, my mother is paying for it along with the alterations to my sister's bridesmaid dress. My seamstress whom we have been going to for years is an older lady who also makes wedding dresses. The last time I saw her was for my grad dress. I'm sure she won't be over $100.

I love this song and would like it to be our first dance song, makes me cry everytime I hear it! Unfortunately my fiance is not a huge fan of country, so we will see what happens.

There is also another Brad Paisley song that is very much "us."

Just got off the phone with USCIS about an address change and they asked me if I have been receiving mail from them. I said I received the first notice from them in April. Then the woman said "Did you receive the Notice of Approval sent this month?" After I wiped myself off the floor, I asked what was the NOA2 date and she said July 16. So the touch I got was for the approval. To top it all off I called my girls and they said could not talk now, her first husband and father of her daughter committed suicide today and she was meeting with the family at the moment. Did I ever mention my preference for Chinese Sweet and Sour? However, I do not like it in this circumstance.

Congrats on the approval endoftheroad!!! My condolences on your fiances ex husband rose.gif

I just called because I was so distracted by the fact that it'd actually reached the NVC, that I forgot to ask for our NVC number. I asked if it had been shipped today, because I saw 6 packets go to London tonight, but she says it's undergoing "additional processing" and so it is still there. Frustrating, but I hear all packets undergo AP of varying lengths.

Yes, Monday, for sure!

Lisa I hope your AP is short and sweet at NVC! Thank goodness it finally got to NVC though!

Well technically I called the consulate and a voice prompt gave me a 1-900 number for interview questions and bookings. That's who I called by they said they don't do immigrant visa's there so I'd have to call the Calgary airport border station and they would know the answer. They however were only recorded responses unless I knew the extension of the person I wished to contact. But now I know better than trying to get anything useful from the consulate.

Still not received at the NVC, have you had any luck Emily and Gareth?

Mine's not there, either (NOA2 on July 20).

Hmmm I wonder on which end is the hold up? USCIS or NVC? I remember seeing a post like yesterday about someone who had an NOA2 date of early July and NVC just forwarded to the consulate a few days ago OR the person just received notification from NVC that it was forwarded...I can't remember for sure, but thats alot longer than I had to wait.

Another slow day at the NVC. I'm starting to recognize their names I've been calling there so much. Worse is that I think their starting to recognize my voice, their a little less friendly every time I call.

I'm thinking it has to be getting procesed any minute now.

I also called the Vancouver consulate today and asked them a question about proof of custody, not only is it 1.89$ a minute to talk to them but she didn't know the answer and gave me the phone number to someone who supposedly would and when I called it, it was just voice recordings.

The phone bill is going to tick my parents off pretty bad so hopefully the NVC has my case soon!

Just wondering... why are people calling the NVC? I'm calling to make sure Ian's address was updated so his packet 3 goes to the right address.

They do still send letters indicating when your paperwork is received by them and forwarded on, right?
[/quote]

Yes the USC will get a letter from NVC stating that its been received and forwarded on such and such date, and that address that packet 3 will be sent to from the consulate, and will have the consulate case #. If you get the case # by calling then the beneficiary can book their medical depending on the clinic requirements in London.

Well mine didnt show up at all until the day the approved us, we got touched the next day, no email, no approval notice online...it still says pending. We got our NOA2 in the mail. I thought it was funny because they FINALLY put our case online, but couldnt update it to show it approved.

Just give it a rest! Please?

I do not appreciate inaccurate statements or slandering it would be nice if those were put to a rest.

That quote by member thetreble was not directed at you, go reread that thread please. It was a response to the OP to which they have disagreed on many issues because the OP is originally from the USA and now a Canadian PR. It had nothing to do with you and I do not see how it was "picking at you"

Waiting for the NOA2 was tough I agree, waiting for next part of the process, NVC, Vancouver was probably the worst part. I had about 6 weeks between the time of sending back packet 3, finding out my interview date two days later after sending it back and the actual interview. Those 6 weeks were horrible, as well as the time it took to get the packet 3 letter from Vancouver.

Jauque timeline:
05/05/2009 - NOA1
07/17/2009 - NOA2
2 months 12 days

minnew timeline:
01/14/2009 - NOA1
03/19/2009 - NOA2
05/28/2009 - VISA
Total 4 months 14 days

usagroom timeline:
04/16/2009 - NOA1
?????? - NOA2
Now at 3 months 10 days

And you two are complaining about the wait????

If mine was like Jauque's timeline then I would have had my NOA2 in June and if mine was like minnew's timeline my girl would be getting the VISA next month!

I am not going to sit here and argue with you about timelines and who is waiting longer or shorter and who should be complaining usagroom. I do feel for those filers who have had to wait longer or have gotten into security checks, I wish I fully understood why. I understand that you are frustrated that it is taking this long for you usagroom, its not easy and the immigration process is not something to tread lightly into, one has to be strong to get through it. It was frustrating for me to come onto VJ and see people who filed after me getting their NOA2, but it happens. Its all a part of the waiting game.

I probably have some early gray hairs! laughing.gif My mom was gray by the time she was 30! helpsmilie.gif

The wait sucks for everyone, its a very stressful anxious time because the United States government has your future with your fiance in their hands. On top of that I was waiting to make final wedding plans. Even after the NOA2 I thought I would breath a big sigh of relief, but not so, it only made things more stressful in the weeks leading up to the interview. A complete nervous wreck!

Everyone's experience in the this journey is different and everyone will adapt differently to the stress. The last part of the K-1 process was the worst for me and my fiance.

LOL I can totally relate to all the comments/questions by family and co-workers....so sick of answering questions by them! Everyone believes I should be able to marry without a visa and stay and get my citizenship right away wacko.gif

As far as the honeymoon, it will be a belated honeymoon for us as well. We want to go to Maui next year. We have talked about going to Vegas for a mini-honeymoon just to get away for a weekend if there are some good deals on airfare and hotels, which there are, but its going to depend on vacation time he can take and finances as well. He really wants to go to GA for christmas next year to see his family as its been a few years since, and there may be a trip to Toronto next summer as well for my cousin's wedding, hoping I have my GC by then!! Maybe the in-laws might suprise us with a paid honeymoon...*ok quit dreaming* laughing.gif

Lisa I hope you are able to get the tax transcripts you need! If they don't send you the transcripts then you will need the 2007 and 2006 tax return AND their supporting W-2's.

Hey look on the bright side, you will have all the supporting documentation that you need for the I-864 for AOS now, the 3 years of tax info, no waiting or scrambling to get that stuff to send off for AOS. Oh and I am excited that we will qualify for the I-864EZ!!

Why would they ask for the past 3 years in tax returns if it didn't matter? I have paystubs saying that I'm making enough, but not a lot other than that. I want to know because I'd rather not send just my information in and have it be denied, but I'd rather not drag my mom or sister into it if I don't need to.

Where did you see something about needing the past 3 years' tax returns? The i-134 says they're only needed if self-employed, or did I totally miss something?

Also, please link me the reference on the child support. I just want to make sure I filled out my form correctly.

I also brought 3 years worth of information, just to be safe, the 2008 return and transcripts for 07 and 06. The interviewer did not even glance at what he made for 2007 or 2006, I am assuming because 2008 was over the limit for the poverty guidelines. Did not glance at paystubs or the letter of employment either. I dunno maybe it was because he's military.

I have read on VJ and I cannot find the link for it, but somewhere I read that they use the guidelines for the I-864 at the consulate level to determine if your support will be sufficient. (No brainer right? If you can't get a visa because of poverty guidelines then no AOS) The I-864(Affadavit of Support) form for AOS asks for the past 3 years tax information submitted, employer letter, and proof of military status if you are eligible for the 100% poverty guideline

You can get tax transcripts for the past 3 years from the IRS for free! Took about a week and a half to arrive. We were not able to get 2008 transcript, because it was still income tax season but told that in August of 2009 you should be able to get the 2008 transcript. Some people if I remember correctly who were going through this the same time as me got there 2008 IRS transcript when asked for in April around the income tax filing deadline.

I brought pictures, boarding passes and a few months worth of phone records, did not ask to see them at all! Better to be safe than sorry though!

Best to check out the regional forums to find out what others have done for the specific consulate! The I-134 requirements are the for the most part universal though for each consulate.

I'm not gloating, I had noticed that another person received a touch today and I wanted to share the good news that people are getting approved today after a really slow week.

Oh, I think the months are for when you get the NOA1. No problem, just saw the other thread and that you were a May NOA1er. Why do you think you were approved before any April of May NOA1er?

In all honesty it probablly doesn't hurt that I'm Canadian not that I think its fair, I want everyone to get there NOA2's pronto. But I also think based on last Friday there was a huge influx of approvals that maybe for whatever reason they've made it through the H1/2 (whatever work visa it was that was slowing down the K1's) and are now trying to get back on top of things. I expect a huge turn around rather quickly.

As for whether or not you are an April filer just because your NOA1 was in May has no relevance so I don't even know why anyone brought that up other than the fact that you apparently post in both threads... I ended up with an NOA1 in May, as attaya mentioned, and haven't even LOOKED at the May thread because I consider myself an April filer, since that was when we frantically got our ###### together and sent it off.... it's not our fault that CSC doesn't always stay on top of things... Same with Allie apparently, and yes, a few others. I've NEVER seen anyone be picky about whether or not someone belonged in a thread (other than between service centres, since they are so different in time lines and what not). If I'm not considered an April filer than why the heck do I bother checking this thread... I know you're frustrated with the delays that have happened usagroom, but cut people some slack. You've ruffled feathers in here before, some of which were my own, but this isn't a time to bring up completely unrelated issues with someone's good fortune..... that said... I did comment on some of those issues, but that was a response, not an initiation. lol I hope your touch is in indication of a quick approval!

Ashen- I hope your approval comes quickly! I know how frustrating it is to see others who have NOA1's after you being approved! It is defininitly not a first come, first serve fair system at all!

"my NOA1 was May 04/09, Lucky Me!" is the title of that thread. Doesn't sound like an April NOA1er. whistling.gif

Seriously? There are many VJers who post in 2 different months of "filers" because of sent date and actual NOA1 date, I sure did! and I posted in both threads about my approval! One will never know why it takes longer for some to be issued an NOA1 or get their checks cashed, it just happens. Can one not be excited about an approval? Like she said she had posted in this April thread before. Sheesh!

Congratulations again Jauque!

Actually the filing date is noted on the NOA1, not when you put it in the mail. Notice I said CONGRATS first thing. What different people think is gloating is subjective, that is how the feeling is. Can't argue it.

We are all happy when people move ahead in this process.

Yes I understand that there is a received date on the NOA1, mine was dated Jan 13th, my actual NOA1 was the 14th of January. I sent it in the mail Dec 18th...I don't think mail to California takes 3 weeks! Anyways, congratulations on your touch! I hope that your NOA2 is soon after!! I never got an email, just a touch on my case, then the NOA2 arrived in my fiance's mailbox a few days later! smile.gif

Congrats but are you gloating? You started a thread about yourself and then you posted in the April thread. Your NOA1 was in May, not April.

Posting it 1 time isnt gloating but since it was posted in three different topics.. it really comes accross like gloating... mad.gif

*Holy smokes! She filed in April! Same thing happened to me, filed in December...NOA1 in January! How about a big congratulations instead!!! Sheesh!! It happens that people file after you get approved!! It happens to everyone!

I've been posting in this thread since I started this journey and in case you didn't notice this thread is called is April 2009 "filers" and as you can see in my signature I filed April 20th. I'm not gloating, I had noticed that another person received a touch today and I wanted to share the good news that people are getting approved today after a really slow week.

I'm sorry hunny but it doesn't matter if you are Canadian or not, I have seen lots of Canadians end up in background checks at USCIS or even AP at NVC. Its just the luck of the pile.

If you are logging into your case status online, there will be a "Last Updated" date, if that date has changed then you will know whether your case has been "touched."

Should I be worried that the check has been cashed, but we've received no email confirmation as to our NOA1?

Can't check the status online, as only the front of the check was scanned/submitted, with no case number found.

Sometimes it takes a week or so from the cashing date to get NOA1 in the mail. There won't be any email (at least I didn't have any) about it. I also had no case number anywhere on my scanned check.

Hang in there!

Just dropping by to wish the April CSC filers good luck!!

Lisa and Ian-I noticed that your local office is Omaha, NE, not too many people on here from Omaha. I will be moving to the Omaha metro in September! Keep in touch!

TXLady--just to throw in a little practical suggestion. I sounds like you're in that wowee, I'm so in love, infatuated stage where you just can't stand being apart. If you want to do the immigration the safest, least risky way (K1) like you said, then it's going to take some months to do. He's spending a lot of money flying back and forth. If you could just stretch out the visits a little longer in between, it would probably make the whole process go smoother because waiting is part of the game. If they decide he's been too much and deny his entry to visit, then you're stuck with a big chunk of time apart while the petition is getting processed. So I guess I'm just suggesting pace yourself. Be sure and read everything at the top of the page under the blue tab called GUIDES and the one called VISA FAQ so you understand all that's required...the fees, the documents, the translations, the proof that you make enough to support him. The K1 flowchart is a good overall picture. It's in the Guide tab.

Ok so I have a question and I will be applying for K-1 sometime in next 6 months. I used to be on a F-1 student visa and lived and worked in the U.S for 1 year in the U.S until the end of May of 2008, my American boyfriend only lives 4 hours from me, and it would be weekend visits, can I be denied entry due to the fact that I will be visiting him at least once a month and I have already spent 1/2 a year in the U.S? Can he be questioned as well coming up to visit me? I thought I read somewhere too that only a max of 180 days...this whole thing substantial presence stuff that I had to deal with for the past 6 years of being in the U.S and taxes is confusing! I really wish we would have just gotten married and done AOS....that would have been so much less painful! (expensive) Anyways, thanks in advance!

This advice may suffice for those couples who will face interviews at lower-fraud consulates (such as those in Canada), but it's cavalier at best for anywhere else. See post #8 in this thread:

for some ideas that you might wish to apply, even though your situation is different than the one that the post actually addresses.

Regarding mailing addresses, think about using the most reliable and permanent address available, such as that of parents.

Doesn't hurt to file extra ammo. Better than not having enuf.
Just be sure a make copies and send to the bene so they will know what was said and submitted when the CO questions you.
Sometimes less can be better.

Also, forgot to mention in my last post, if you haven't already come check out the Canadian Forum, they have been a great help as well.

We are also in the process of getting together the forms and required supporting evidence, I feel overwhelmed too but reading the Guides and looking at the filled out example forms has helped alot and has really helped break down everything that we need to do for the whole K-1 process. My bf and I have been together for almost 4 years as well and he is in the military. As far as the address question I believe you would put down his current address or if the training address is not current at the time keep a record of how long he was at the training address. Is he receiving mail @ that address or somewhere else? When my bf deployed 3 years ago im pretty sure his mail was collected by one of his roommates. Anyways hope this helps!

My fiance and I have been together for 3 years pretty much, and we met online, but we have seen each other on several occasions. We're in the process of putting the I-129F package for the K-1 but we're not really sure where to start.

Should we fill out all the forms and then work on the letters, and then work on getting pictures printed out, and everything? I'm just so confused, and would really like some help.

Also, he is currently in the army and is at Fort Bliss, Texas for his AIT training. What should we put for his home address at this time? Military address or his house that he used to live in, and where his parents still reside.

Thank you. : )

Hey everyone! My fiance and I are ready to send in our I-129F package, pending the arrival of his Birth Certificate, which should arrive today or tomorrow! Hope I am not missing anything, but if I am please advise! Thanks! Hope to have a smooth journey!

You don't mention any evidence of having met in person during the past two years. This is critical. Be specific about just what evidence of meeting is included.

The only evidence of meeting I have are boarding passes from a trip to visit his family in 2007, hotel receipts and gas receipts from a trip to visit his family in 2008, I never received any passport stamps..I am assuming because I am from Canada, I was on F-1 visa up until May 2008. We also lived together for almost 1 year and had a lease agreement with both our names on it, but have not included in the package as of yet.

I see. Your list should be part of your cover letter, you'll want to label the list and the evidence as "evidence of meeting".

Your evidence of living together a year is the best possible relationship evidence. Unless it also evidences you living illegally in the US for a year, I'd include it with the petition.

Ok thank you, I will add it to my cover letter. No I was in the U.S working with OPT under the F-1 at the time we were living together. The reason I have not added it is because I am worried about the IO thinking well maybe they are already married? some people frown upon couples who live together before marriage. We are NOT married. Our addresses will be the same on the G-325A, mine as a previous address and his as a current address. Anyways, maybe I am reading more into things than I should be!
