We did not say it is not a serious problem. It sure is. However, the applicant was registered "automatically" at the DMV which happened and still happens to many applicants. The reason we say not to worry is that the big positive here is that the applicant did not vote or did not use the US citizenship claim to get a job for example. If that would be the case, then he would be in really really big trouble.

I read about many cases where applicants were able to clarify with USCIS that they were registered to vote accidentally and at the end their naturalization were approved.

So the steps that need to be done:

1. Find out how the registration did happen at the DMV?
2. Inform the Board of Elections to be removed from the voter list.
3. Get a letter from the Board of Elections confirming removal and also confirming that the applicant never voted.
4. Schedule an infopass appointment at the local USCIS office and clarify situation with an officer.

My 2 cents even if I'm not an expert. I don't think that you have to be worry, this kind of thing may exist much more than you can imagine, with DMV; if you don't really read the document and ticked the wrong box, and English is not your primary language.
A lot of people come in this country and they don't even speak English, so you imagine all the mistakes that they can make...

He didn't vote, that is a good thing, so the best is to follow the steps proposed by nwctzn.

If they do, i may have a little problem.

I submitted my N400 application last Nov. 2012 and i will be soon scheduled for an interview. Everything's going smoothly with my application but i thought of something.... I am a flight attendant for a regional airline and we fly in out of the country so I am required to have my green card and passport with me at all times. I know it takes about 4-6 weeks to apply for US passport. On the interview, should i ask if i could keep my green card after the oath taking until after I get my US passport? (Will they let me?) And if they do, will that still be valid when i get through Immigration at airports?

I am confuse, I cannot work without those documents with me... Please, i need your input and advice... Thank you!


Hello,

Yes, you will have to submit your green card, when you will have the oath. However, they give you the certificate of naturalization.
I'm sure that you can use your certificate of naturalization instead of your green card- Ask your employer.
Think also that it can be a little risky to travel with this document (A4 format) it seems me.
You can apply for the us passport the same day, bring everything that you may need for that.

Think about it, if if if if USCIS does some researches and find that the company is ABC with address XY, and find that your new company is ABC+ with address XY. And that ABC+ is paying you, instead of ABC. I think that they can find the link between the 2.

No, but seriously, the I.O. just did his job, and since you answered all the questions in a satisfactory manner, you'll get your approval in about a week or two, at the very latest. Find confidence in the fact that applicants who fraud the system have a really hard time passing such an interview, and that's the idea behind being subjected to interrogation.

There is a misunderstanding somewhere, and i didn't insinuate anything at all.

My question was simple. Because you talk about "your" N-400, on your second post. So i asked you politely what is your relationship (more thinking that you were a dependant, like a daughter, a wife, which could maybe change the answers that you can obtain).

My question was more in what way "your" N-400 is link with "his" N-400? 

It was to help you, don't be so defensive, please?

Other VJ members would ask you the same question, if they don't understand your question.

By reading again, you second post, I may have misunderstand that "your" N-400, is the N-400 that you are preparing, not "your" own N-400.

Sorry, but it was not so clear the first time that I read it.

OK - I think I am finally getting this....

 

 

The penalty fee might be something payable to the PI gov - is not set up by the USA gov at all.

 

Should be dead easy to get the USA passport renewed but then what?

 

 

To EXIT the PI using that passport there is an overstay fee collected by the PI gov somewhere somehow....  I would seek the path of obtaining an 'exit stamp' in the USA passport and if it's less than 200 usd...   go for it...

 

otherwise - it SEEMS that it's more cost effective to get a PI passport and renew the USA passport - as a PI national would not be charged the overstay penalty by the PI gov....

 

OP - if the aunt has a checklist from some entity - which entity is on the masthead/letterhead?

Notice how he laughed at the tattoo of his name and said he didn't know why she did it.   Talk about not knowing someone.   Pretty simple:   it cost her almost nothing, means nothing in reality, but is scammer-type "proof" that you love someone.  Instead of treating you decently they put your name on their arm.   It's a merit badge at home too - the Americano badge. 

 

God Almighty the Vegas wedding.   How trite and Cliché.  This seems to be some kind of merit badge for scammers too.   I met a dupe here that worked at Sentry Hardware.   After the Vegas wedding, she went straight back home and he hasn't seen her since.  She didn't apply for advanced parole so they'd have to start all over again with a new visa application for entry. You think about all the condoms that would buy if he actually had a use for them...

 

We'll see him on the "Effects of Major Changes" page soon enough.  He's going to marry her, she'll leave him, and he'll want to know how he can get off the hook for signing financial liability.

Well the only thing she can do is marry him within the 90 - day window. If she has the visa in hand, they won't stop her at the border. 

 

Again folks, this is not a troll posting, there are numerous cases like this not just on visajourney - I know three scammers personally from my wife's neighborhood.   One got her Americano to buy a Sari-sari store and build her family a new house.   Another strung her guy along for almost three years.   He was sending everything he could afford and didn't even have enough money to visit her. 

 

The tatoo - Christ almighty.   Threats of suicide.  Our friend is moving up the ranks to a visajourney classic.  Think it's bad now?   Wait 'till she gets here.  

 

Yeah, we see those kind of things in thrillers. When somebody has a tattoes of his/her lover on her/his arm and are ready to kill because of "love".

Hope than nothing happens to your friend or one of his friend because the lover-tattoed doesn't appreciate their relationship.

I have one of my friend who wanted to split with her boyfriend, he loved her, cut his veins, they went to the hospital....after she changed regions to be far away from him, wanted to split but was afraid to be morally responsible, if he tried again to commit a suicide. She became pregnant (they had a long distance relationship), married. She never enjoyed her mariage, but he wasn't a bad boy. Years after, they divorced. The mariage never worked for her.
