US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionInterview Questions
My question

Is it good to tell that my fiance was divorced once, instead of telling on my interview that he was divorced twice?
we only have his 2nd divorced decree, and my fiance could not get his first divorced decree because he is in Iraq until July, what we have decided is he only wrote his latest previous spouse (that his 2nd ex wife) to our packet that we sent to Vermont with the complete documents and his 2nd divorced decree, and they didn't ask about any additional document from us.

His first marriage last only 3 months because the first ex wife had a baby with other men while my fiance is in Germany.
His 2nd marriage last for 17 years and divorced for nearly 2 years now.

Does the NVC or Consul at interview will check my fiance previous marriage without telling us?
What should i expect from this interview?

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionManila: Visa Approved!!!
my interview experience:

i wake up early at 3am, i went to US Embassy at 5am, i just found out that my DS Forms 156 that i have is invalid i did not notice this bar code on the last page and one thing wrong i just handwritten it which is not good and i have been told its not acceptable, ok i went to the nearest printing area and print my new DS form 156 and it cost 245pesos and it cost too much but i dont have choice, a fixer help me to find this place, not far from US embassy, then i rush back to US embassy and show my interview schedule with my voters ID, and fall in line, ok everything went well, its so cold inside the US Embassy, then i fall in line for them to check all my DS forms and my interview schedule then they gave me a number they always said to some beneficiary to never leave any blanks on the forms, after few minutes then they called my name and done my finger scanning, then like an hour, i saw my number on queue board and i went for my pre interview and go the specific window, its a filipino interviewer

She ask me this

My NSO birth Certificate
My cenomar- (my certificate of no marriage is one month old)
My NBI - (my nbi clearance is 1 week old)
Whats the name of your petitioner
His job?
How old is your petitioner?
Whats your relationship to your petitioner?
When and how did you met
If i have work? blush.gif
Is your petitioner have kids/children?
When was the first and last visit?
Age gap? 15 years
If we have traveled together?
how many times he visited me?
if i have kids?
if i am married now?

She ask my fiance' affidavit of support and i show her my folder, and what i did is remove it one by one from my plastic filler because she just want to staple it and so that the consul can easily read, she get the following:

Military ID copy
Notarized Affidavit of Support Form 134
Form 1040 Income Tax return 2008
Pay Stub end of 2008
Form W2 for the year 2008 only

she didnt ask the bank statement although she just look at it and didnt ask any divorced decree and she didnt ask any of the previous marriage of my fiance

she ask me if we have pictures together and i gave to her my 2 folders:

Evidence of Genuine Engagement:
Our Letter of Intent to Marry with Love Story
Engagement Ring Receipt
Engagement Day with Family Pictures (with captions)
Engagement Ring Photos (with Captions)

Evidence of Meeting Prior to the Petition:
Fiance Copy of US Birth Certificate
Fiance Copy of US All Passport Pages
All Hotel Receipts with other receipts used during visit
Evidence of Solo and Pictures together (with Captions)
Itineraries from Travel

Thats it, then after 1 hour i saw my number on queue board and i went to the final interview, and he greet me good morning and he told me to sit down and raise my right hand, that i am swearing all the information that i have submitted are true and i will be honest to all the answers, and i said YES! his young around 30's

here his questions. while he is typing on his computer
When was the first and last time you saw your fiance?
when and how did you met?
and how many days?
how could you marry a person if you just spend a short days with him? he repeat this question twice to me and i repeat the same answer
is your fiance is still in iraq?
what his job in Army? Chief---CW4
if i have kids?
is your petitioner have kids?
have you been traveled outside the Philippines? my answer is NO, not yet and never
have you been traveled together?
if i was married before?

and he check my cenomar, nbi and birth certificate and DS forms and he said OK YOUR VISA IS APPROVED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
he talked fast and i answered fast, i think my final interview to him is just 2 minutes

i just notice he didnt ask this from me because iam ready to show it:
any emails and chats
remittances
letters together
copy of cards sent by my fiance to my mom and my letter
fedex receipts and fedex received package photos
our webcam pictures online
our call history online

on my pre interview and my final interview i saw our I-129F APPROVED STAMP from national visa center, our G-325A with my fiance's 2X2 pictures there, if i am not mistaken the photocopy of my fiance passport all pages and birth certificate, the divorced decree of my fiance is attached there, and the letter of approval from NVC are attached together with my medical result completed from St. Lukes and all my DS forms with my birth certificate, cenomar and nbi, and all my fiance affidavit of support that the pre interviewer get from me, i notice its a bulky documents that they put together with my passport. but i didnt saw our emails and pictures that my fiance sent to Vermont Service Center, the final interviewer bring back my 2 folders and thats it.
I think that would be my travel document that i will carry on. kicking.gif

Thanks God! i didnt feel nervous during my interview, coz i was talking to my fellow beneficiary that having problem to their process, i feel sad for them, when im done with my final interview i keep looking for them but i didnt saw them, hope their visa is approved also.
Keep faith everyone, its a rewarding feeling to be approved!!

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionneed information/advice
is there anyone can give me some information regarding my situation.

i received my conditional green card june 7, 2010.
my husband left USA for him to move in camp casey korea on september 19, 2010
i left USA october 2, 2010 (two months after i gave birth, flew with my little baby) and i arrived in the Philippines and stay until November 12,2010
my first visit in camp casey korea was November 12, 2010 to February 3, 2011 (for tourist visa)
i flew back again in the Philippines February 4, 2011 and stay until April 11, 2011
my second visit in camp casey korea is april 11, 2011 and will stay here until July 2011 (for tourist visa)

i called the USCIS that i am not eligible for expedited naturalization because im not on military orders with my husband that currently in korea, my husband will stay here on unaccompanied tour til september 2012. but im currently here for tourist visa that im visiting my husband every two months, im only allowed here per 90 days of my visa.

my military husband might go to iraq around year 2013, is there any chance for me to be qualified for expedited naturalization? how about my previous stay in the philippines and korea, is there any effect for my residency?

i need to remove conditions on March 7, 2012 (my green card will expired on june 7, 2012)
me and my husband plan to file for removal conditions nextyear here in korea, although im not in orders. but the US embassy seoul in korea said i can do my fingerprinting in their embassy. we have all the medical records here that i can submit together with my supporting documents, and also i have the commanding officer approved my stay here everytime i visit my husband.

is there anyone already approved for removal of conditions overseas most likely similar to my queries?
let me know
thanks everyone.

US Citizenship General DiscussionIn line for Interview

Hi guys, I have a question. Has anyone been placed in line for interview for almost a month and still dont have an appointment? I read in the other topic that after they send you a letter where they put you in line for the interview USCIS usually send the notice with the date of the interview short after that. I was placed in line for interview on the 7th of july, and still dont have an appointment. Any advice?

we have the same situation, i check mine online and it says i was place on july 28 for testing and interview in line schedule and hope to received my appointment letter anytime soon.
kilipitFemalePhilippines2011-08-02 23:38:00
US Citizenship General DiscussionHow long it takes being on the in line schedule

You will receive another email that says you have been scheduled for an interview, and you should receive a letter within 14 days.
You will normally receive the letter within 2 - 4 days.

Until you receive that email, there is not much to predict. Some people take a week or two and others take several weeks before their status changes.

I want to reiterate that it is highly unlikely that they will grant you your request for same day oath since the process is fixed and we all have to go through it the same way... however, I wish you good luck that you get that taken care of quickly. Some people leave the interview knowing when they are scheduled for Oath and others need to wait.

Good luck again!

Thank you for this input, its been 15 days got no letter yet. i will wait until it comes. Godbless

US Citizenship General DiscussionN-400 July Filers

Our case status was updated today with an email stating our case has been placed in line for interview scheduling. Is there another message that comes after this that lets you know that the interview was actually scheduled or this is the same thing? So excited that this is moving along so quickly-however being in KC just means that there is a LONG wait after the interview to when you finally get an oath ceremony. Has anybody heard from the people that filed before us to Arizona-just wondering if their cases are moving along and they never came back to update.

US Citizenship General DiscussionN-400 Interview Experience at Fairfax office.

Hello Everyone -

I had my naturalization interview last week in Fairfax, VA office. It was a 5 minute interview, I had my appointment for 8:20 a.m. and I was called at 8:22 by the IO. The IO was a fairly young male in his mid 30's, he introduced himself on the door and than again when we got in the office. There was another officer with him who was in training, IO introduced that officer as well. The officer began with N400 application, asking usual stuff like address, phone number, etc. Asked for my passport, green card and drivers license - he also saw my selective service registration card and matched the number I provided in the application. After that he gave me a line to read, which was:

What is the capital of USA?

and asked me to write:

The capital of United States is Washington D.C.

Than he asked me 6 simple civic questions

1. What is the supreme law of the land?

2. What is an amendment?

3. When was the constitution written?

4. What is the rule of law?

5. Who makes Federal laws?

6. Who wrote the Declaration of Independence?

After that he stopped and said Congratulations you have passed the test and asked if I was available that day for the Oath Ceremony. He scheduled me for the same day Oath ceremony at 2:00 and told me to report at 1:00 p.m. I was out of the office in a total of 30 minutes in the morning and returned back at 1:00 p.m. I applied for the N400 in the first week of March and was fingerprinted mid April.

I took the Oath the same day and got my certificate. I will be applying for the passport book pretty soon. How long does it take to get the passport if you expedite the process, does anyone knows? and how can I find out which Postal offices accepts passport applications.

Congratulations! i will have my interview on November 2 at Fairfax Virginia. praying and cant wait til become a US citizen.

Thanks.

Philippinesnbi and ds forms questions
for anyone who have nbi clearance, on embassy list of documents that nbi clearance should be in the applicant’s current name>>> Yes, Im using my current Name, birth certificate name>>> yes same as my current name, maiden name>> IM not yet married and any aliases or nicknames used>>>?, including different spellings you have used of those names. is it mean that i should include my aka/nickname on my nbi or is it ok without my aka? any idea.

in ds156 Non Immigrant visa application question number 9: Other first and Middle Name USed? what is the better answer here?

http://manila.usemba...v/wwwh3024.html

MAIDEN NAME AND OTHER NAMES REQUIREMENT

Boxes 8 and 9 of the Nonimmigrant Visa Application Form, DS-156, require you to list any other Surnames used (Box 8) and/or First and Middle Names used (Box 9). This is a REQUIREMENT. For example, if you are married, this means you MUST list your Maiden name in Box 8 of the DS-156. If you are known by a nickname, you MUST list this in Box 9 of the DS-156. Failure to list the other names by which you are or have been known may result in delays of your visa processing.

Does my fiancee fill all those DS forms out directly on the PDF file online and then print them? If questions don't apply should she use N/A or None?
We want to hear from people who have already filled these out so she does it right.
Thanks!

Hi there! I just wanna ask if your fiance received a packet 3 from the USEM? Thanks.

DS 156 2 copies should be type and printed online-its required. it was told to us on my interview day.
DS 156K 1 copy and sign it and DS 157 2 pages (1 from bank and 1 from online, handwritten is ok), submit the blue receipt and attached it to the back of your DS157 which validated by the bank
do not leave any blanks, on my interview day some fiance got delayed online because of this.

PhilippinesN/A or NONE?!!!!!!!!!!!
QUOTE (rockhouse @ Aug 22 2009, 10:55 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Many of the questions that require numbers will not accept N/A or NA or NONE. For instance, number 19 says, "spouses DOB". Well she doesn't have a previous or current spouse so she tried N/A, NA and NONE. The forms then tells her that in order to proceed it needs numbers filled in for the DOB of spouse.
The only way she can proceed to page 2 is by just picking a random number for her spouse, (which she doesn't have), or to leave it blank.
Can someone PLEASE pm me or something regarding these forms. We want to do it right, but there seems to be NO right way to do it!

hi, for some information that needed N/A or None then handwritten it this is what happened to me on the day of my interview last August 17, 2009. About Number 25: Name and Telephone Number of Person in US, she should type your name there.
Here's mine:
on DS 156 number 8, 9, 14 i put None
on number 16 Fax Number- None
Business Fax Number- None
Page Number-None
on Number 18 and 19 both None
on Number 40. Application Prepared By: I put NOT APPLICABLE

hope this help.

PhilippinesCall to schedule interview.
you need your Manila Case Number, your full name, you are a fiance means you are K1 visa type, your fiance's full name, where he lives in States, your email add, and they will give you a date of your interview or they will tell you to choose specific date, in my case, i choose my own interview day and i ask if still available and the filipina lady told me yes it is, then they will send to your email add your interview day and confirmation, print that you will need to present it when you enter US embassy on the day of your interview. bring the Embassy Letter on your medical day in St.Lukes

hi thank you so much for the advice on my upcoming flight, i really gives me good thinking that early as now i can do it well while traveling alone, thank you for the inputs especially on what to do and pay inside the airport and about my luggage, i have 1 luggage and 1 carry on bag only, thank you so much for this, I really appreciate it from the bottom of my heart to everyone who gives input to all my queries.
my mom told me to put something on my luggage so that i can easily recognize it, my luggage is black and told me that once my luggage mixed with other luggage and yet i cant easily recognize it because most people use black luggage. i went to my CFO this morning and its easy to get the sticker on my passport and they staple the CFO certificate on my passport too i thought they will interview us or give counseling and only ask a copy of my PRISM yellow certificate, 1 copy of my visa and cfo application form and payed 400, then gave me a something to read and a few reminder before traveling, that's all. about my visa simple error still i am thinking if they will assist me but how i am sure they will issue my visa before thursday, i dont want to miss my flight, i heard its 2 to 3 days before they will release the visa, i am afraid because of this, because my flight is early morning of Thursday.

PhilippinesFlying ALone
hi, i have a question i just notice on my visa that my fiance address is Hopkinsville NY, instead of Hopkinsville KY because i am going there in Hopkinsville Kentucky, i think its not a big issue on the misspelled letter right? and all my personal information on my visa are all correct except that, and my flight will be on Thursday August 27 will depart Manila at 6:45 am through Northwest Airlines, then fly to Nagoya Japan to Detroit which is my Port of Entry. I already have my E-ticket and itinerary and my fiance book my seat online. its my first time to fly especially alone, what i should do when i get into Terminal 1? how many hours i should be in the airport prior to my departure. and yes i will need to attend CFO on Monday the last thing that i need to do, i need to find this CFO address, im from Pampanga, any suggestions?
Thanks to all inputs in advance.
and congratulations to all who passed interviewed this august!!!

PhilippinesDon't know what to expect

Thanks for the reply, but I want to know do they just take her to examination room and tell the results or does she receive a written letter stating the results

hi, i had my sputum test when i had my medical exam in st. lukes, she needs to call the st. lukes on the given day they told her to know if she is negative, if they said she needs to report and be there (they will told her to come to st lukes), on the lobby the guard will guide her if what floor of the building she needs to go and have her vaccinations, all her paper work will be given to her and she will see there the result of her sputum test and all forms she already filled out on st lukes during her first day, but she needs to surrender that to the lobby section on releasing area, together with her passport, then the releasing section will ask if shes already have a interview schedule on us embassy or not, if she dont have yet they will be the one who will call the us embassy to reschedule her for visa interview. on that lobby the st lukes will give her a paper slip saying that she is done with her medical and she is clear but its not the medical result, dont worry the sputum is not a big deal on the interview. when i found out that i need sputum test and wait for 2 months for the result, at that time i already called the US embassy for my interview scheduled 2 months prior to the release of my sputum test.

PhilippinesFinancial Arrangements between couple?

You may not be earning but you are taking care of the household, taking care of your family and soon to be baby, then, thats fair enough that your husband provides you with all your needs and the niceties of life. Both of you has his/her own respective roles to be performed as family. The allowance you receive becomes your own money, and it is always fun to utilize your own money wisely - either spend or save it. Enjoy being a mother. Its a joy to be at home and take care of your child and witness the important moments in your child's life as she/he grows.Good luck!

Hi that is true, i do all the household cleaning and he really appreciate it so much, i never allow him to do household work because its not that too hard to do, now he is moving in Korea and im about to move there after i give birth. i do agree that couples should have open talk about finances, i still wanted to work in the future but husband is not yet decide especially working in Military is allot of adjustment for moving and he might come back in Iraq after Korea. before i came here we already talk about everything, and he already discussed it to me. Thanks for comment, hope to share more later. Godbless

PhilippinesFinancial Arrangements between couple?

Hi,

Im just curious, just wanted to know from the US citizens on how much or to what extend are you willing to support your spouses? I mean what is customary here? Do you expect to manage your finances separately or have a common fund? What about the household expenses, who pays? or is there any customary sharing of expenses? How about sending children to college, do parents here normally provide for their children's education or let them work to send themselves to college?

Thanks.

Hi, Im not a US citizen but heres my opinion about this topic, me and my husband who is currently a CW4 in US army has provided everything for me, i have my filipino food every week, i have my filipino channel since i came here, he send money to my mom every month. he pays all the bills, he dont allow me to work because he wants me to stay at home and now having a baby. when he buy something he always ask me whats my opinion or if i like it, we never debate or argue, just be supportive and not destructive. and i even have my monthly allowance even im staying at home. yes me and husband will provide college education for the child future, but most of the talk he wants to do it by himself.

PhilippinesRenew passport in your nearest consulate area!!!

Till now i have been working on how to renew my passport. I live in Florida, I found a website which the name is the Philippines Consulate and there is one in Miami....http://www.philippineembassy-usa.org/. I have told that I can renew my passport there. I called and talked to them and asked my problem. I have been told that I can only go to Washington D.C to renew my passport.
I also need to change my name in my passport into my husband's last name, so the consulate in Miami told me they can do it and that I just have to bring my "original marriage certificate" but not renewing the passport because they dont do it there and that they told me to go to Washington D.C. Now I am screwed because anyone I asked told me you can do it in your nearest consulate in your area. I dont know who to believe.
Is there anyone know about this situation??

josie

hi, if you are renewing your passport with your married name and you are married here in USA you need to submit a report of marriage that can be download the form to the philippine consulate washington dc website, i live in kentucky and i already have an approved report of marriage that they sent to me but they cant renew my philipine passport which is a brown machine readable passport, they told me to apply for a new passport and not to renew it and they need me to appear personally to apply for a new passport but i dont have time to do that because i cant travel from kentucky to washington dc and im waiting few weeks from now and having a new born baby, i will just apply for a new passport when i get there to the philippines after i give birth and luckily we are moving in korea in august and i will have time to go to philippines to do that stuff.
