Mexico, Latin & South AmericaHow did u meet your SO?
My first trip ever to JA was in March 05. I went there on a mission trip to Morant Bay. I went to Spring Garden church and met a young girl (my sister in law) there. Then I went back on another mission trip in Feb. 06 and the young girl I met the previous year, brought her sister there to meet me. The next day me and her sister hung out until I left 2 days later. We talked just about every other day. Then I went again on another mission trip in Mar. 07. The third day i was there, i asked marla to marry me and she said yes and we got married the day before i had to leave. leaving was the hardest thing I ever had to do. I have been back since our marriage and i plan on returning next month.

We fell in love fast but i know it all was from God.

Mexico, Latin & South AmericaKingston Interview SOON!
My wife called the embassy today and they let her talk to someone. They told her that they will put our case in the batch for next scheduled interviews. They told her we should have an interview by Feb or no later than early March. Just wanted to share the good news, I am getting excited, I want to see my baby!

2 questions about interview

1. does my wife have to have my original passport for her interview?

2. How much money does my wife have to have at the time of her interview? (visa fee? and what else?)

We are doing k-3

Also does my wife schedule the medical or does the consulate?

Mexico, Latin & South AmericaScheduling of Interviews in Jamaica
A good estimate is about 2 months and I think they have already scheduled all the March interviews and I would look at late April or early May.

YES, I would drop off the DS230 instead of waiting on pkt3. The embassy is known not to get the pkt 3 to you and you will have to call the embassy to schedule an appointment to drop the form off and you will have to wait until the embassy gets paperwork from NVC before you can do that

Mexico, Latin & South AmericaQuestion about police reports
Only takes about 30 min to 1 hr, depends on how busy they are.
They mail you the form back, there is 2 methods to this -- pay more and get in 1 week, pay less and get in 2 weeks

Mexico, Latin & South AmericaJamaica -- Phone problems?
I will also buy my SO's family the 16hr plan and they can call my wife. If my wife needs to talk to them, she can text them and they can call, instead of her calling them. That's what I do now, if I need to talk to my wife, I text her then she calls me back.

Mexico, Latin & South AmericaEr, I feel lost now...
Congratulations on everything moving fast for you. My best advice concering the DS-230 is when the consulate receives the documents from NVC, then e-mail the consulate and request an appointment to drop the DS-230 (which you can download) then they will mail you packet 4 (which is the interview date). Don't wait for the consulate to send the DS-230 b/c I never recieved it and it delayed my process by 6 weeks.

You should have an interview somewhere around late May

I need some advice.....

Look at mt time-line and you can see the frustration. My wife (who is jamaicn) dropped off the 230 form on Dec. 27th and we still have not heard anything. Seems like the embassy in not organized at all. Should i call to see if they have scheduled an interview date yet? If so what is the best number to call?

Also, we still haven't gotten a passport for her daughter yet....how long does it take to get one?

hi everyone ...

I am not sure where is the best place to post that

I'm really new in here, but something is not new, it is almost two years that I am with Mark , and most of this time, we were away, yes we talk on msn, skype or any other way, just it is so hard not to be together.
I am so very happy that I have him in my life, but everyday ...I am a little bit more sad.
How you all do to manage this time ?
I am almost done with school, so I'm supposed to be busy during the day, but I can't think about anything else than being near him.
I really hope I can get some help and advice
Thanks and good luck

Yes it is hard being away from the one we love. I married my wife 1year ago and today is her interview and it has been a very long and hard road. But I know the only way I am able to do it is to rely on my God. I know its hard to believe this but being away for so long is a good thing b/c if you can stay together through this you will be able to make it through anything. The time has strengthened my marriage.

Just stay in prayer to God and He will give you strength and stay connected to your husband as much as possible and give each other all your love. The day will come when you will be together and the time will make it so much sweeter.

Now I thank God for not letting Marla come to America 2 weeks ago and post-poning her visa approval. I am glad she is at home with her family during this time.

Yes that was my beautiful wife and step-daughter. They did ask for more pictures but she said she got them past that, and all she has to do is take the I-130 back but now the e-mail is saying she to do another interview. Should I be worried? I wish I could go over there but due to finances and bringing her here, its just impossible.

Dear Mr. Stephens:

You are required to do an interview when you return with the copy of your I-130 petition. The earliest possible appointment date is April 24, 2008 at 12:30. I have gone ahead and scheduled the appointment for that date.

I'm going to fax it to him on saturday

what is the dress code for the interview? Jeans and Tims ok? or some dress slacks and shirt w/shoe's?

Firstly congrats to Gill!! We got approved on Tuesday as well!!!! You can wear whatever you want. There is no dresscode. If you have any shyness get rid of it because they talk to you through a speaker where everyone can hear what they say to you! We went there early, checked in. You have to the appt letter in your hand before they will let you in and they check for your name on the list. You go through security and metal detectors, and then take a short walk bacak to where the actual embassy is. You go to the check-in desk, the space is so small so make sure you stand where you can fit, but also so no one tries to take your spot in line. I carried a folder with dividers and all the forms very organized. The reception guy was so impressed. He asked for 4 photos, the DS 156/DS 157, the police, birth, non-impediment, and passport. He checked them and gave us a number and we went in and took a seat in section A. They called our number and requested the same docs the recptionist did, plus my tax info and I-134. She was tossing our stuff around, guess she was having a bad day, but then she asked me to stand to the left and let Andrew be in the center. She checked the docs, kept them and told us to proceed to section B. In section B, you just wait to be called for fingerprinting. Andrew had trouble with this. He is an electrical technician at Federated Pharmaceutical and they work him to the bone literally. The guy had trouble trying to get his fingerprints because they were rubbed off a bit. After that you proceed to section C. This is where you can hear everyone's interview. So many people got denied or turned around because they didn't have all the docs. If you can go with your fiance to this interview..please do! Those who were there without their partner were given a very hard time. Everyone was getting denied left and right and you could hear every reason why...not all the docs, not making enough money, one guy was being fraudulent. He had tried to sneak into the US before. Lots of people were lying when asked questions.....how did you meet, when, when did you get engaged, how, how do you know they love you, where is proof....ect. It was so scary to watch. Then our number was called....we got to the window and had to swear to tell the truth. She asked us how long we have been talking Andrew said Dec. 23, 2005..I said...no, it's 2006. Then she asked how we met and he said myspace.com. Then she got hard in asking well how is it the two of you got together, do you want to marry everyone there, do you date all who sends you a message...just gave him a hard time. He stutters a bit at times, but this time he was having an extremely hard time, so I asked if I could answer, she was rude and said no..he should no for himself. Finally she let me answer, truth is he went blank. Then she asked him when the wedding was and we said June and she told me in my statement of intent I out April, and I said yeah because I didn't know Jamaica would take so long so we had to push it back! Then she asked him what kind of work I do and he answered. Then she granted us the visa. Told us to have a happy marriage! I should have been happy, which I was, but I was so upset with Andrew because he forgot and tensed up..we went to airpack just across the street, and then we left. I apologized to Andrew, we made up and had a great day and I am looking forward to him being here soon. His family is not so happy because he is leaving. They feel like he is abandoning them. his mom won't speak to him and all....so much. if they only would remember how they felt when they found love..once you find it, you do what you have to to keep it and help it grow. We also went to the movies that night. It was his first time there at Carib. We went to see Step Up 2. I had already watched it before. It was a lovely evening and now my family and I are just awaiting his arrival....and our big day...June 7, 2008 @ 2pm!!! To God be the glory for all He has done!! He is good all the time and all the time He is good!!! Sorry so long, but I want you to have as much info about going to the interview as possible. If anyone has any questions, let me know. God bless you all!!

Congratulations on the approval!!

Marla did'nt get denied, the lady told her everything will be fine just bring back proof of the file I-130. Did you have that form at the interview?

Thank you! I don't even know what the I-130 is. Honestly never heard of it. Are you K-1 or K-3? I am K-1. Maybe that may be the difference. I can ask my lawyer for you if you need me too. I hope I didn't offend you. I wasn't talking about Marla in particular with the denials and all. There were so many!! Anyhow, let me know so I can look into it for you or gather info if I can. We are all in this together!! Be blessed!!

No you did'nt offend me at all......K1 does'nt file I-130 ........I think all we have to do is wait for a follow-up appt to be sheduled but any extra info is always great. What day is your husband coming to America? Bought plane tickets? And how much?

Cool!! I am trying to get him here this weekend. I have not brought the plane tickets yet just in case it takes longer than intended. He's not my hubby yet...June 7th will be the day smile.gif!! This airpak express people never answer their phone. They have a visa tracking link, but it is not accepting the info so I just emailed them and I am still trying to call to get a status update. Again...it is the waiting game.

I hope he gets to you this weekend, Delta is the cheapest tickets i can find through expedia.com
And, try this # 202-663-1225 they can tell you if the visa has been issued (printed). Hit 1 then 0 and you will speak to an operator, give them your kng#

I have no other reason than true love and life-time commitment with Marla.

I didn't send my husband the approval notice that I-130 application was approved do you think I should fax that to him just to be on the save side?

Yes I would def. fax it to him.

it's mostly cause visa fraud is so plentiful in JA why are so exact with everyone..most of the interviers are American

Exactly.....visa fraud. Plus, let's face it, it's come up again and again when couples have had problems on this site, that they didn't know each other well enough from the beginning.

We have had the worst luck and experience with the embassy, I know I married my wife on the 2nd visit but its true love and i think for any marriage to last for what we go through with the waiting and still be together and in love is a marriage that will make it. I have had a total of 4 visits with my wife in the last year with one of the visits lasting a month, so I can say i know my wife well and I do know I have a lot to learn, but we are very compatible.

Marla called the embassy this morning, they told her we don't have to schedule another interview, just a blue sheet interview. Which we should get one within 2 weeks.

Marla said the woman who done the interview was very rude and did'nt believe that we had a true marriage because I married her the second time I went to Jamaica. But Marla gave it to her and the lady finally said everything will be ok just bring proof of I-130 that it was filed. The lady even had to write that in on the blue paper there was no check box for that. She was just trying to find a reason to prolong this. Anyways, hopefully i will Marla within 4-5 weeks.

202# told me that their system says the case is still being processed. I asked them if they could help me in any way being that the ava appt date is in Aug, they replied by telling me that I will have to talk to the embassy reguarding my case all they can do is tell me what the computer says.....I am going to fax her a copy of the form she (Marla) needs tomorrow and we are both going to call the embassy until we get a satisfied answer. They cannot do this to us, i won't except it!

Thank you all for the answers, help, and encouragement.
