IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedureshelp pls...medical exam requirement
QUOTE (zenki_james @ Aug 24 2009, 07:37 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
help pls!!! my fiancee called the embassy this morning and he sat my interview schedule on the 16th of september. my question is what are my requirements in having the medical exam at st. lukes clinic? and one thing more do i really need to bring the letter from the embassy? coz i dont have yet that letter but they sent an email to my fiancee its a confirmation letter about my interview schedule...i dont know why i dont have yet my letter coz embassy said they approved our case last august 17,2009....im planning to have my medical exam on the 27th of this month...sorry to many questions..i dont really know what to bring thats y pls help me

you should have gotten the appoinment confirmation email from embassy right after your fiance set the eschedule for your interview. but relax, coz sometimes they send it to you a couple days later.

for medical at st. lukes, you need to bring the following:

1.) appointment letter from embassy (tell your fiance to forward the confirmation letter to you and print it, this is needed the most, without it the security guard will not let you in)
2.) letter from NVC that indicating your case# (you should know your case# when ur filling up he SLEC form)
3.) 3 2x2 ID photos w/ white background
4.) passport
5.) black ballpen
6.) P10,500.00 for medical fee

Note: wear clothes that easy to disrobe and comfortable shoes/sandals/flip flop as you will be needing to climb the stairs back and forth from the 2nd to 5th floor.

good luck!

I've waited for more than 3 months to finally write this...APPROVED!!! NOA2 was received by my husband today. Thank God! Last week, I posted "DOCUMENT OTHER THAN CARD/TRAVEL DOCUMENT MAILED TO APPLICANT" topic here asking what that means. I thought it was an RFE or something else. Our I-130 was approved on August 17 but was returned because my husband forgot to change his address online. They re-mailed it on September 3 and he received it today (Sept.10). Thank God and good luck to all. NVC, here we come. Please be good to us.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAddress change question

I filed the I-130 and received our NOA1 on November 2nd. I moved a couple of weeks ago, and know I need to change my address with USCIS, but I don't want to delay our second notice. My mail will be safe and received if it goes to my old address so should I wait until I receive the NOA2 or should I change my address with USCIS now?

Thanks everyone :)

I changed my address with USCIS and it was no problem. I called them up and made the change over the phone.
I received the confirmation letter about 10 days later. Remember, the FBI is watching you. Haha!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresInterview Experience

I just had my interview yesterday and it seemed to be fine. ^_^

Here's my story. The Indian prescreener took my fingerprints, my passport, medical results, & our photos together. Ask few questions like, who petitioned me, the date of our marriage, where she lives, who are in the photos, where was the photo taken, what is my job here, how much is my salary. Then he asked me to go back to seat and wait for the CO to call me.

After about an hour an a half, the CO called my name. He verified my fingerprints, then ask me to sign under oath the part II of the DS-230. Then he started to ask me questions like, what is my wife's name, how old is she, where she lives, how long have she been there, what is her job, how did she get to the US, if she has any relatives in the US. :reading: He also ask me what is my job here, if what job am i going to take once I get to the US, if i applied for any job in the US already, if I have any relatives in US. He also asked how did we meet, when did we get married, how long we've been staying together, when was the last time we're together, do we have any children, or been married before.

So far that were the questions I can remember that the consul asked me. It took us about 10 minutes in the interview. He finally asked, if my visa will be approved when am I planning to go to the US? After that he took a purple card with a serial no. & a text "pickup passport date" then he stamped the date January 30, 2010. Then he told me to go back to seat & wait for my name to be called. After a minute, the prescreener called my name, give me the purple slip then asked me to go to fedex and return back the air waybill.

Not like the other vj'ers, I never heard the magic word, "Congratulations!" or "approved" from the consul. Then when I returned back the air waybill, I asked the prescreener if I'm approved. He just said "Yes!". ..then I went home.

That's all I can share for now. I am hoping that my visa will be delivered very soon. I just can't wait to be with my ONE GREAT LOVE!

Goodluck to all those with upcoming interviews! Just keep praying...and it will all turn out fine.

Congratulations!

time to start packing.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresWill it always be this stressful?

Thanks for the advice. Sounds like the hardest part is the waiting. I will keep you all informed.

One thing to think about is the medical at St. Lukes. This is a hurdle that comes before the interview. They are sticklers. If I could go back and do some things differently, I would spend more time prepping for this. Our interview date was rescheduled due to a suspicious spot in my wife's right lung upper lobe. As a result, a sputum exam was ordered which requires 3 days of spitting in a cup and then a 2 month lab culture. so, I would suggest that you use the waiting time to get a pre-medical exam completed. Put your focus on the xray and tb test. Be sure your wife speaks to the radiologist to get the results and find out if there is any tiny tiny tiny spots. Not only is the US dead serious about keeping tb out of America, seems like St. Lukes enjoys the additional revenue they get from processing 150-200 sputum exams every week of the year.

Something you might consider doing during the wait.

You might have done something different with the Rich Grandma, something along the lines of HER giving you 100,000 usd to put into a bank account in YOUR name, then YOU show it as CASH ASSETS for the I-134 for a K-1.

Then once yer lass is in the other island, you can return the money to the Rich Grandma.

You might have come to this idea all on yer own, if you had bothered to :
-- read the guides and
-- read the instructions for the I-134.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAdditional Processing??
Your frustration is totally understandable. Yes, seems most get the noa1 within 10 days of receipt, but...not everybody. With that said, There is a 30 day response time window. Meaning, USCIS has 30 days to get your noa1 out before they have to start acting on your calls. But, based on your timeline, seems like you are in the position to request some action. How did you send your packet? If it was regular mail then unfortunately you might have to start over. Stop pay the check and send your application packet again. Hopefully you sent it via fedex. Verify the delivery date and who signed for it and push a little harder for them to track it down.
Hard to tell you to relax because we would be worried too.

BTW...I called USCIS once or twice every week because our I-129f never got uploaded to the website. I never got the impression that someone could call too much or too soon. Customer service reps sometimes do their job and sometimes they don't.
The way I saw it...they are working for me so I was not shy to call and ask questions.

Hang in there and good luck

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedureshow to check status to the NVC

how to check the status to the NVC to know if the embassy already recieved the packet?

How do you know when you can have the schedule for interview?

DHL can help you to track your case....

1...when you know that your case have been forwarded to the embassy, example; case forwarded March 12, 2010.
2...go to DHL TRACK
3...then under track list click on track reference.
4...type in the reference in this shape EXP11MAR2010A then push track. You can always try the March10th if the first one wont work.

NVC will send you an email indicating the schedule of your interview. In our case, I received the appointment letter before NVC forwarded our case to the embassy.

Good luck!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresWhat happens after receiving Welcome Notice in the mail?

Hi All,

I arrived in the US (POE: Guam) on the 19th of April. While I was on CR-1 Visa, they have stamped IR-1 in my passport because as at date of entry in the US, I have been married to my American spouse for almost 4 years. So anyway, I have receiced my SSN in the mail a week after I arrived. And on the 29th of April, I have received a letter from USCIS: Notice of Action: Welcome Notice, with Notice Date and Receipt date of April 29, 2010. Today, I received another letter with the same Receipt Date: April 29, 2010 but with a different notice Date: May 3, 2010.

So now I have got two Welcome Notices from USCIS.

My question is: What happens after the welcome notice? When should I expect the greencard? And what do they mean when they said I SHOULD hear from them within a 30 days and if I don't, I have to contact them using the number on the receipt.

Thanks in advance for everyone who will answer my inquiry.

I received three welcome notices as well, and my green card was in the mail a week after.
