K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresSo hard waiting . . .
Take up a hobby....? Go sightseeing? (not sure if you're the USC or the beneficiary... but either go enjoy things in your hometown that you might miss or find things in your city that your other half will like?)

Good luck!

It's so hard waiting seeing people with NAO1 dates after ours getting their NAO2!! We haven't got an RFE or anything!! Is there anything I could be doing in the meantime to make things go smoother down the road when we finally do get our NAO2?

Obviously, patience is not one of my better virtues!!!!

No, they probably won't call them. But you don't want to leave any information blank.

I cant find their address online.

The US Embassy will need to call of my employers?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedurescant remember eployer's address
Can you try searching for the company / place you worked online?

We did that to find my fiance's old addresses. I mean, we called everywhere-- to the point of calling the stores on the high street to ask them what certain roads were called, what building numbers were around there, etc.

Hi, I dont remember my former employer's address in Korea, I only worked there 2 months, what do I do now?

In my passport it says that Ive been to korea, and it asks for employer'd address in the form, but I dont remember the address their address anymore.

Pls advice.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPlease Help!!! I think we made a huge mistake...
I'm sure everything WILL be 100% fine and that copies are excessive, but better to be safe?

Thanks Kristin - I will start making copies and such tomorrow and have a new pack in the mail to him by the end of the week!! I feel much better now that I know it should all be okay!!! Thank you SO much!!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPlease Help!!! I think we made a huge mistake...
Nope - nothing was wrong for sending it all in.... just that they lost one of his pieces of paper, which was a bit of a bummer for him.

I don't believe it took any longer for him to get an appointment than normal... he's flying off to the US here in 4 days time to be with his loved one, so things did work out in the end ;-)

I'm sure you'll be fine. :-)

Okay, I will copy things. So, your friend did not get RFE'd for sending it all? Good to know! Did he get an interview date rather promptly, or did it take extra time b/c they had to go through everything?

* Kristin *FemaleUnited Kingdom2011-08-22 13:54:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPlease Help!!! I think we made a huge mistake...
They SHOULD have everything in his file when he arrives... he will tell them that all the documents were sent in.

If possible, do send a copy. They misplaced part of my friend's I-134 last week (he did the same - sent everything in), and he needed to go back and get another copy of that document; it put him back by about a week and a half.

So - my fiance ended up sending EVERYTHING to the embassy. I gave him clear directions on what forms, including the cover letter, forms and DS-2001 to send out.

However, instead of following my directions (he was in a bit of a hurry) - he sent the entire packet we had collected for him to bring to the interview. This includes my 134f, letter from employer, tax transcripts, copy of the NOA2 etc...

What will this mean? Will we have an RFE because he sent too much? Will it delay us getting an interview? Do to I need to resend him this information so he has it for himself at the interview? I have a copy or can make a copy of everything that was in that packet.

No need to list back acount balances or assets if your income is sufficient!

Piggy back question regarding I-134. If you are not going to send bank statements or if your income is sufficient do you still list your bank balance on the I-134 or just leave that off?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresEvidence of Financial Support and Engagement
You will need to show financial support. As Jay Kay mentioned, you'll have your USC fill out the I-134. Supply past tax transcripts and a letter from the employer/recent paystubs.

With regard to London, no need to send evidence or proof of ongoing relationship. London is super easy.

If you're like me - and a paranoid freak - we brought stuff to the interview, anyway. If you read past reviews of London, it's not requested.

All the best!

You do not send financial evidence with the I-129F petition, but the USC fiance(e) needs to show they can support you when you apply for the visa at your local consulate. You will need the I-134 from the USC. Read the guides here on VJ, and check out the instructions from your consulate's website.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresApplying for SSN
Correct - no AP until after you're married.

With regards to ID, when I went with my other half - they asked for his passport, but he also gave them his old UK license.. not sure if it was required or necessary, he just kind of forked everything over in one go :-)

And I guess I can't apply for AP till after we're married.

You should be good to go,

No need to include the receipt of the gift and the picture of her wearing it.

I would just like to know if I have gathered enough evidence so I will not get a RFE.

So far I have:

1. Copy of her passport and stamps.
2. Copy of her boarding passes.
3. Skype call records
4. About 20 Pictures
5. Airport parking tickets
6. A receipt of a gift I bought her. Should I also include a picture of her wearing it?

Any advice? Thanks :)

Egh... I'm not 100% sure how it works when it comes to nannying.. it depends if the family paid taxes from your wages, etc. It's tricky - I know a lot of individuals who are nannies tend to get cash-in-hand or just cheques w/o taxes having comes out :-/

I am working now, but making $9 an hour unfortunately doesn't cut it for the income requirements, I don't think...

When I was in Holland, I worked as a nanny, I guess I'll have to contact the family I worked for to get the tax information?

2) I was in a similar situation - spent the last 3 years in London, I wrote my age and then birth - 11.26.07, 02.05.11 - present

3) Since you are using a co-sponsor and not using your assets to make up for the income shortfall, no need to complete information about your savings accounts, cars, property, etc. Leave blank.

4) Since you're not using assets, nope.

5) Even though you earned foreign income, you should file tax returns. You file them as foreign income earned abroad, which is tax-free (for the most part, unless you earned a high amount... I don't have the exact figure, as I didn't exceed it) You should have gotten an end-of-year statement or something similar from your employer in Holland and then you can use it to file US taxes.

6) What you need for you depends on your specific embassy but usually two of the following will suffice: recent pay stubs and/or letter from employer and tax transcripts. Your co-sponsor will need to provide the same.

It looks like you are working now and may have suitable income? (just based on that you're providing pay stubs, etc...) Is there a reason you're using a co-sponsor?

Okay, I have some questions...I've been reading all the other threads pertaining to this and my exact questions haven't come up yet, so here goes it...

1.) I have a co-sponsor. They're my best friend's parents. Do they fill the paperwork out together, or should it just be her father completing the information?

2.) Number 2 on the I-134 says I am ___ years old and have resided in the US since _____. My question is- my permenant address has always been here in the states. I did live in The Netherlands from July 08-Dec. 10 so should I put on there that I have been living in the US since December 2010 then? I'm just a little confused by that one.

3.) The next question is in regards to part 7 on the I-134. I don't have a savings account, just checking. So do I put 0 on the first line? Should I open a savings account? When it asks about personal property, I own a car, and personal property, like the stuff in my house. Do I list an amount like 10,000 on that line? Or do they just want to know about the car? I have no stocks and bonds (will this affect me?). I do have life insurance, but I don't know what they mean by cash surrender value.

4.) I saw in another thread somebody included a photocopy of their car title. Is that helpful in any way?

5.) I don't have tax returns for the last three years. When I worked in The Netherlands I had to file through the Dutch system, and I believe I ended up having to pay social security, but my employers paid that on my behalf. I don't have any W-2's from the last three years. Should I include a letter stating this situation?

6.) From what I've gathered I will need three months of bank statements, a letter from my employer, a letter from my bank, and three pay stubs. Does all the same go for my co-sponsor?

Thank you for your time! :)

Unfortunately, no, you cannot leave the country for your honeymoon. You will need to wait until he received his Advance Parole for travel.

Lots of great places to go in the US though!

So, my fiance & i were planning to leave the country for our honeymoon, but is that even possible? Does he have to stay in the US for a certain amount of time for AOS stuff? Do we have to wait until the AOS journey's complete? I guess we didn't even think of that when planning. No plane tickets purchased yet, so not a huge deal, but curious.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-134 Affidavit Support Questions
If your dad's income is suitable, no need to list his assets. Assets only need to be listed when being used to make up for income shortfall.

Since you a using a co-sponsor, you don't need to list your assets, either.

Each embassy is different, so I can't speak yours persay, but USUALLY two of the following are required (in your dad's case) recent paystubs or letter from him employer and 1- 3 years of tax transcripts.

No need to get any back letters from previous employers; that doesn't matter. It's current income that counts.

I am about to prepare my I-134 and am planning on attending the embassy trip with my fiancee. I am a full time student with a I.T summer job in a private school with the possibility of being promoted to work there permanently if approved by HR. I wont know the answer to that until next month. I have only been employed at this current job for 3 weeks and before this current job I was employed at the same school but as a summer camp counselor. I have worked as a camp counselor at the school for the past 5 years every summer. The list of supporting documents that I am planning on taking from both affidavits (me and my dad) are the W2s,Tax Transcripts, my dad`s letter of employment, my future letter of employment (if rehired) and our 1040s. I have a couple of questions in regards to this matter.

-My father has agreed to be my co-sponsor but he has filed jointly with my mom do I only list my father`s income? Is he required to list his assets?

-As many of you know a student doesn`t have much assets only ones I could think of is my computer, laptop, clothes and my car then again I am not dependent from my father. Am I required to list my assets even though I am using a co-sponsor? If so am I required to provide proofs of the assets such as receipts? I`m not sure if I still have the receipts only one that I may be able to show is my payment history from my car.

-My boss has told me that if HR hires me they will wait for me to start work until after I get back from Pakistan. Would a letter stating that I will be employed on the date that I get back be equivalent as a letter of employment?

-Before the 2011 summer season started I was working with a private video company since September 2010. If I don`t get rehired at this current job would a letter stating my wage and position from the video company be necessary?

-Is it necessary to show my previous paychecks as well as my father`s paychecks? How about bank statements?

Thanks in advance for your help fam.

You should be fine.

All the best!

My interview is on the 12th July at the American embassy in London for a K1 visa. I have put together all the relevant paperwork but noticed for the I-134, my Fiancée could only supply me with the last years tax return and the last years W2.

She is a nurse and has quite a highly paid job and we are well above the poverty line required. We also have a letter from her employer for on going employment which states her salary, along with her last 6 months wage slips (I can get more if needs be).

She doesn't have the older one's and won't be able to get them in time for the interview date. Is this going to be a problem at the interview and will they deny my application because of this. Is there anything else that I, or my Fiancée can supply which may be acceptable or are we taking a massive risk as it's 3 years worth and no other exceptions?

Your help is appreciated.

Settled in Mission Viejo 'cos I have family there... I moved back from the UK in February of this year and it was easier to settle back in to US life with family nearby. It's good for my other half 'cos he's involved in the equine community, and having the South County horses nearby is convenient. I work up the road in Irvine for a technology company - so have a brilliant commute! Can't beat the 10 minute drive in the morning!!!

My other half's family just moved to Dorset (from Berkshire before that Newmarket before that Northern Ireland before that Somerset...!)... not sure where abouts exactly, but I hear it's lovely!!

That's a nice place to live! What do you guys do for work? I'm kind of stuck here, I want to move but the job's retirement is a good deal so I will stick it out, especially in this economy.

Karen is from Scotland but presently lives in Christchurch, Dorset. It's about 2 hours to London.

And when she came here for a visit she fell in love with root beer. :-)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures6 months still waiting for NOA2
* hugs * Hang in there..

Looking at Igor's timeline, you're time is almost here!!

Hi guys, I guess I'm feeling very down today, this process is harder then what I was expecting, I didn't know it was going to be this hard, and I'm not talking about paper work, It just a waste of time, I sent the papers 6 months ago, I haven't receive anything, no REF, no touch, no thing, they should at least give you some update on your case, I mean we are humans not animals.

I sent an e-mail to the senator about month and half ago, he tried that I needed to fill out the Act form in order to helped me, after I did that Vermont replied saying that I have to waited until 6 months so It will be consider "Outside of Normal Processing Time" (ONPT).

• Sent an e-mail to Vermont VSC.Ncscfollowup@dhs.gov when it hit six months that was about two weeks ago, no answer
• Sent a fax to the senator and they called last Friday to send another fax saying that my case needs to be expedite due to ONPT I faxed on Friday nothing has happened
• Sent an e-mail again to Vermont 3 days ago, still waiting
• Called the 800 and I was told to wait 30 more days

What else can I do? Should I send a letter to the first lady? This whole process is driving me inside, I keep checking my e-mail, my status online, and running out of hope

Anybody has any ideas?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAffidavit of Support
You do not send your I-134 in with the initial package.

What you can do, however, is when it is time later on to supply the I-134, you can include a letter from your employer, stating that you've been employed for such and such time as a whatever your job title is, and that your salary is xxx.

Good morning,

I'm about to submit my I-29F visa application. Along with the I34 Affidavit of Support, I was going to submit a recent pay stub as well as my 2010 W2 Form as proof of income. However, I got a pay increase since 2010. Should I submit a memo explaining the increase? Or would that be unnecessary? Thanks!

On the Guide, there is a letter you can print off the details that you are able to get your SSN, even without your GC. (We didn't need it though, but came armed with everything.)

we did this as well as 3 other couples and they told us we had to wait until they get their green cards this was done before the 90 days wife got her green card on the 2 and went and they told her it would take 4 weeks

Do make copies of your boarding passes - those are great!

Assuming you booked your flights online, do you happen to have the itineraries stashed away in your old email somewhere? I was surprised what a search in Gmail brought up for me :-)

Pictures are secondary - so it's good that you have boarding passes and all that. No, the photos do not need to be on photo paper - but do remember to make note of who's in the photo, date and approx where you are.

Can't help on the Skype front, but I know this question's been asked before, so I'm sure someone will pop along wiht an answer. All the best!

so I'm looking at this as I'm wanting to send this out tomorrow after getting my passport photo, and I have my boarding passes going into London, will those be alright if i make copies of them? do i have to show my return ticket as well? and well I'm not sure if you can find your itinerary for your past trips because he cannot find his boarding pass for his last visit here in february. bit bummed about that and I'm wondering if it's going to cause a problem or not? i have emailed to see if they can send me them in an email and i can just print them out but haven't heard anything from the airline yet. I also have a lot of pictures, and I want to keep my originals as i only have one so i can make copies, but do they have to be on photo paper??? also, we have a lot of skype phone calls - does anyone know how to print out a log of the phone calls between us??? i dont want to print out all of it cause its got to be a whole lot of paper that I'm sure they don't want to go through. thank you !!!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresEvidence of relationship
My fiance and I were super paranoid (we had absolutely no reason to be) so we submitted things like postcards we wrote to each other - these were dated from the postal stamps.... we didn't save the envelopes from our letters so didn't bother to submit those.

Emails are accepted. And people have submitted them before.

Every consolate is different though :) But all the best!!

Hello,

I have just sent off my package three and in readiness for getting an interview (hopefully soon!) I am looking into compiling the evidence...I have passport stamps of being together in the same place, two previous employers wrote letters confirming our relationship (we met whilst working together)and I have film dated photographs. What else is good? We have a million cards, letters and emails but I don't know if they accept that? I have so many keep sakes and mementos but I think they want very specific things.

Does anyone have and advise please of the things that they like and don't?

Many thanks,

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAddress problem
As 'AKSinghSingh79' stated, that's the best thing to do.

Good luck!

You're in luck! I just filled out both mine and my fiance's G-325A forms and both of us have a thousand addresses.

I'll tell you what I did. I wrote as much as I could on the lines that the forms provide. I left the last line open so I could write SEE ATTACHED SUPPLEMENT. Then I created a word document and put at the top, G-325A Last 5 years Residency Supplement.
Then I made a table similar to the one on the G-325A and filled in all the information. You can skip this step if you want but I then converted the word document to a PDF file just because sometimes my computer does some screwy things with the formatting when it prints.
Make sure you sign and date the bottom of the supplement. There ya go! :)

You can do the same thing if you had an equally lengthy list of former employment.

Good luck!

~A

The actual 2011 income requirements can be found here: http://www.uscis.gov...form/i-864p.pdf

Affidavit of Support is taken very seriously by CO. To be on the safe side, your co sponsor should be making away above poverty line!
He or she should be making at least $40,000/yr to be a co sponsor, provided your co sponsor is SINGLE.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresThe A number and tha NOA2
The A number is the number beginning with an A on the NOA2.

Hey Everyone,
I am preparing the paperwork for my fiance was leaving blank all of the spaces where is asks for his A number. I was okay with this based on what has been written on Visajourney before, however, when I was looking over the Approval notice for the I-129f I saw that above his name there is in fact an "A" number and it seems to be in the same format that the forms autofill. I went back and added the number thinking that it must be his "A" number, but now I'm not so sure. Any thought? I'm wondering if I should re-do everything and take it off or should I just leave it and assume that it is in fact his number.

Thanks, feeling a bit nervous!!!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK-1 Visa US Embassy London
So sorry to hear this.... :-/

By any chance, were you born somewhere outside of the UK? Sometimes they do 'extra checks' in those situations.

If anyone can shed some light on my status, that would be great?

I had my K-1 visa interview at the US Embassy London on June 5th 2011. The interview went well, nothing was asked of me in addition to the paperwork I provided. I was first seen by an administrator who went through the paperwork I had mailed to the embassy and she confirmed all was OK. I was next seen by an American inteviewer at a second window who again went through the paperwork and asked simple questions like what's your profession. Again nothing was queried and he stated everything is in order.

At the end of about 15 minutes he said they had to do some more administrative processing, and they'll be in contact via the details I have provided. I was given the blue 221-G form with only the box that states Administrative Processing ticked.

Since then I waited 60 days and called the embassy in London to no avail and no details. I've called the processing offices in the US again no details of help. They all give the same answer pending administrative processing. It is now entering the 4th month since the interview and I have no idea how long I have to wait.

Does anyone else have a similar experience?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresA little confused on which is the best option
Personally, I'm not sure I would trust an immigration lawyer who only charges $50. I know couples who have spent thousands. And not small thousands, either. Also, VJ is a great resource and you can do it all yourself, if you have patience.

When you file taxes after working abroad, you can file it so that your foreign income is excluded from being taxed. Don't worry, I didn't know either. I only learned that I needed to when I started our K1 process.

You'll need to provide evidence why you were not required to file a tax return. Did you work while you were in Mexico? Did you know that US citizens are required to file tax returns even when they live abroad? Your income must be 125% of the poverty guidelines for your household size in order to qualify as a sponsor. For a household size of two (you and your fiancee/wife) you'd need annual income in excess of $18,387. If you don't make enough to qualify then you'll need a joint sponsor who qualifies.

DON'T let her get pregnant! You don't have enough physical presence in the US after the age of 14 for any child of yours to derive US citizenship through you. You'd have to get a visa for the child, as well. The child would become a citizen after adjusting status in the US.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresThank God, approved in CDJ!
Congratulations xx

A big thank you to you all for all your help. Long live the visa journey community!

And for all who are about to go to CDJ, is not nearly as scary nor as difficult as it seems. The consular officers are all extremely nice. Check your papers twice and bring extras copies just in case and you're all set. It's a long wait, but it's worth it. Good luck to you all!

You're still required to file taxes in the US, even if you don't pay.

I've filed this way for the last 3 years... with the help of my accountant. Because he did all the 'work' (the $100 I spent with him was well worth it each year), I'm not quite sure how to go about it... but hopefully that's a starting point, and someone else can shed more light?

Hi all,

So, situation here is that when I lived in The Netherlands I was a Nanny, my employers told me they were filing the taxes and taking care of everything. They're American citizens so I thought okay cool. Well, with going through this process I had them email me the tax information from 09 and 10. When they sent me the stuff she wrote on there that these are payroll taxes, NOT income tax. That they never filed those. What the heck am I supposed to do now?! I did pay social security to the US both years, which is what I was required to do, and they told me that I didn't owe the US any taxes because I had to pay the Dutch government. I don't know if I should be really, really worried about this? Or what? I've never gotten anything from the IRS about not filing and had no clue about this until yesterday. Is this going to throw a wrench into this K-1 process? Any suggestions/advice would be awesome! Thank you in advance.
