CaribbeanOur CR-1 Journey is Over!! Thank You Jamaica Peeps

I am so happy right now I can't breathe.  Our CR-1 visa has been printed!!! 2 Weeks and 3 days after the interview (November 26th) It's been issued and printed.

I just want to thank all of my Jamaica friends who have encouraged me throughout this process. And thanks for putting up with me freaking out all the time.  I know I've been annoying but honestly this whole process has taken so much out of me.

Total time from filing to Issued: 1 year and about 1 week.

Thanks so much to all of you for your support throughout this journey.  Much love to you all and continued success on your journeys.

BethAnn

congratulation bethann - I pray God's richest blessings upon you and your other half.  may your journey from now on be filled with prosperity, fantastic health and all the best things life has to offer.

Hi RR Jones, my hubby and baby  waited 78 days excluding holidays and weekends so I understand what you are going through...I did contact the senator and after one week after they wrote to them my file was picked up and my husband got a call stating that is file is there for awhile and they wanted to ask him a few question which was answered and the file just kept on updating and the visa was issued two weeks after, so give it a try, also, I send a lot of emails, not sure if they care or was annoyed but something works..ensure you send your case number, your full name, dob,  beneficiary's name and  dob when sending  emails .God bless you and I hope everything will work out for you...

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsCR1 Approved Today!! Cautiously Elated...

I can't believe it.  My husband was approved this morning at the embassy in Kingston Jamaica.  The CO invited me into the interview and honestly I am so glad he did.  He said he was concerned because my husband could not remember the date of my last trip to Jamaica.  He just knew the month- so the CO told him to come get me when he found out I was waiting outside.  He was a really nice guy.  He asked me to give him the dates of some pictures; he asked me how many times since my wedding have I been to see my husband- and I said 8 and 14 times total.  He was impressed by that because he said, and I quote, " and it's not like you are coming so often to see family or anything right?  So you must be coming like every 2-3 months."  And I said yes and with that my husband got approved.  Not only that but the CO said we would have the visa in a week so we could fly back to the US together.

What a long and tiring day- but oh so worth it.

Thank you VJ for all your support and guidance throughout this journey.  I couldn't have made it without yall.

BethAnn

Great News Beth Ann , just a reminder to pay for  the green card before leaving Jamaica, all the bless and I pray long life and happiness ..

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsFiance has his trip booked! :)

Salaam and peace, ya'll. My fiance finally has his flight booked! We had a problem getting his son's passport from DHL. My fiance opted to pick up at the DHL headquarters but he did not realize he needed his son's birth certificate to pick up his son's package. He no longer had his son's birth certificate and in Jamaica, it takes 3 days to get a new one. sad.png He went on Tuesday to pick up and I am sooo glad I did not go ahead and buy their tickets! We firmly believe visa in hand before plans!

So I was disappointed but we believe everything happens for the best so we are just going forward. He ordered a new birth certificate that day and it should be ready on Friday, God willing.

Now we had a lot of issues with finding a flight because of so many itineraries not giving ample time to clear immigration at the POE. We finally opted for a straight flight from Montego Bay to Atlanta but my fiance lives in Kingston.

He is taking the Knutsford Express on 5 am Tuesday morning and his flight leaves at 2:58 pm. So he needs to be there by 1 pm for his international flight.

Wondering if any of you have taken that bus and if in reality you had enough time to make your flight? He doesn't have any friends in Mobay so it would be difficult for him to arrive the day before. If anyone has taken that route, please share your experiences!

Please remember to let your husband go online and pay for the green card for himself and son before travelling - all the best and God bless.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresQuestion about green card fee for CR-1

Hi BethAnn, follow the policy of USCIS, they stated that you should pay for the green card before the person migrate,  just do it and get it right the first time, you will definetely get it before the one that apply here after entry...God bless u..

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresQuestion about green card fee for CR-1

Hi BethAnn...It will be best if you make the payment for the green card before he leaves Jamaica and so it will take him a month to get his green card, you can also pay for it when he gets here but you will have to wait for a longer period to get the green card, he does not need to show the receipt at the port of entry,.My hubby said he showed them the receipt upon arrival and they did not need it...after entering the country, he should wait for two weeks then go apply for his social security number...my hubby went after a week but the office said he had to wait for two weeks...Good luck and God bless you both.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresBaby on the way, will this cost process to stop

cray5ol.gifHi VJ family I really need ur response and help, I visited my wife several weeks ago in Jamaica, spent a few weeks I found out today she is now pregnant, which will be my first child. AM a May filers our case was transfer to NSC on dec 4. I feel strongly it will soon b approved but am very worried now as a friend told me the pregnance will stop the process or reject it until the baby is born then I wound have to file over??????? how true is this plz I need ur help

Hi AP...These are questions and answers from the US Embassy through one of Jamaica newspaper, please read, hope this helps..ASK THE US EMBASSY

Migrating while pregnant

Wednesday, August 21, 2013

Q: My mother filed an immigrant petition for me and my family. We just had our interview at the United States Embassy and the visas were approved. I'm about seven months' pregnant, and I would rather not travel until after my baby is born. What are my options?

A: If you are a pregnant woman coming for an immigrant visa interview at the US Embassy, it is important to disclose this information to the medical doctor during your required medical exam, and to the interviewing consular officer.

The officer will be able to give you the best options for you to travel with your baby, depending on the child's due date. If your visa is approved and you migrate to the US and give birth to your child there, the child will automatically become a US citizen.

If you are closer to your due date and cannot travel, however, you will still be able to take the child to the US without adding him or her to the filing.

If you have been issued an immigrant visa and your child is born after the visa issue date but before the visa expires, the baby is not required to have a separate immigrant visa of its own. Your child must have a valid passport from his or her country of nationality, and the birth certificate stating you are the parent. You can take your child with you when you migrate to the US, and present these documents at the port of entry with the rest of your family's immigration packets.

If you have recently given birth to a child but have not yet had your interview at the Embassy, your baby will need to be added to the current petition in order for him or her to travel with you and immigrate to the US. You will also need to bring documents for the child, such as the completed DS-230 application form, birth certificate, and medical exam, to the visa interview.

For more information on immigrant visas and contacting the US Embassy's immigrant visa section, please visit our website at http://kingston.usem...rant_visas.html.

The Embassy staff in Kingston will answer questions you may have regarding the US Mission, including consular law, regulations and/or practice. In order to respect privacy, staff will not answer questions about specific visa applications. The embassy employs a visa appointment system, so it is only necessary for visa applicants to arrive 15 minutes before their scheduled appointment.

Send your questions to: editorial@jamaicaobserver.com and we will send them to the embassy.

USCIS NVC and US Embassy all fall under the same umbrella , one cannot work without the other ...and I was just advising the BethAnn...she may do what she preferred ...

Q: I recently visited the Embassy for an immigrant visa appointment, and the officer told me that I should remember to pay a new immigration fee before I travel to the United States. Is this different than the fee I paid when I began the application process?
A: Since February 1, 2013, US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has required immigrants to pay a new US$165 fee. This fee covers some of the costs associated with processing immigrant visa packages and green cards. This fee is paid after the immigrant visa is issued, so it is not the same as your visa application fee.
The new USCIS fee is paid online using debit, credit or chequing account information. To begin the process, visit www.USCIS.gov/immigrantfee. If you do not have Internet access, another individual may make the payment for you.
Immigrant visa holders are encouraged to pay this fee before travelling to the United States. You will be allowed to enter the United States if you have not paid the fee, but your green card will not be issued until after the fee has been paid. Failure to pay the fee before travelling to the US could, therefore, cause delays in your green card processing. When the US Embassy returns your passport to you via DHL, you will receive an information sheet about the new fee.
The only immigrants who are not required to pay this fee are individuals who receive fiancé(e) visas, returning residents who have SB-1 visas, children who enter the United States under the Orphan or Hague adoption programmes, or Iraqi and Afghan special immigrants.
The Embassy staff in Kingston will answer questions you may have regarding the US Mission, including consular law, regulations and/or practice. There is no rule that states the Green Card Production fee has to be paid before coming through a POE.  Furthermore, that fee has nothing to do with the Embassy as the fee is paid to USCIS, not the State Department.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCan my husband travel with CR-1 visa same day as pick up

Guys,

My husband screwed up and didn't pick up the visa today so now he has to wait until Monday. My question is this- if he picks it up Monday morning from DHL, will he be able to use the visa the same day to travel to the US? Will he encounter any issues at POE? For some reason he keeps thinking he has to wait a day or two before he can use it. I plan on paying the green card fee before he lands in JFK.

Any problems with this? Urgently awaiting your responses.

Thanks,

BethAnn

Hi BethAnn

He can travel the same day he received it and take my advice and pay for the green card before port of entry..get it right the first time and follow the rules of the Embassy....Blessings.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresSenate Member HELP!!!

Ok so my fiancé was approved at the Kingston embassy on AUG. 30th. Today is 90 days of waiting for them to process the last papers they requested. Who do we contact to get this thing rolling? We have our wedding date for Fed 1st. a lot is riding on this getting complete. Does anyone have a template on what to send to a senate member?! Any help would be much appreciated. Thank You.

I agree with everything that Darnel said.  Our file started moving a week after the senator contacted the embassy, so I think it is worth a shot.   All the best and our prayers are with you both.
