US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionAnyone in the same shoes? I-134 Jitters
To My Fellow VJers,

I just need to get this off my head so I'm asking for your thoughts and opinions regarding this matter.

Here's our scenario in a nutshell:

2002 - 2006 - We met in the university, in Manila. We became a couple. Graduated in 2006.
2007 - 2010 - We tried to do business in Manila but return of investment is very slow and we are getting older hence the dream of settling down.
June 2010 - He went back to NY (he is a USC and his family is based there, he just went to Manila to study college) to find a job so we can settle there for good. He
wasnt able to find a job right away until after 7 months.
Feb 2011 - He got employed, a full time job where he earns above the 125% poverty line. He got another job, a part time job in his dad's business.
So basically, he has two jobs that earns above the 125% poverty line for a household of 2.

My concern is this: We don't have ITR papers to show the consulate as he just started working. My interview at the consulate will be approximately around August 2011 so by that time we can only show letter of employment and pay stubs, and some money in the bank. I've read some refusals due to lack of financial documentary requirements. I'm extremely bothered by this. Please shed me some light.

Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussioni-751 January 2014 filers

Spoke to a tier 2 representative about my case being outside of normal processing times. She said they are currently working on January 6th cases. Seems strange since so many people, who filed after that got approved already...

We are on the same boat.. called 2 weeks ago and spoke to a tier 2 officer, they said everything looks good but they just need more time (which probably means they havent worked on it yet) and told me to call back again after 2 weeks to follow up.. might try calling again tom... i filed 01/09

called USCIS customer service after the 6th month since NOA... they said although it is already outside the normal processing time of VSC, when they looked at their secondary system they said that the office where my case was sent was still dealing with previous cases backlog, so mine was considered to be still under normal processing time.. geezzzzz. it is just taking forever.

Philippinesusing a co-sponsor
we are in the same shoes.. my fiance just got his job too..since he studied and stayed here in the philippines for quite some time, he doesn't have income tax returns for 2010. That somehow worries us but i think having a stable and above the poverty line income now is what actually matters. i guess we are halfway on our waiting time..keep us posted what happens to your interview..
Sashi BellsNot TellingPhilippines2011-04-21 02:46:00
PhilippinesDo the Philippine consulates accept CO-SPONSOR NOW?..

You should get one to play it safe. I think it depends on a case-to-case basis. In my personal experience, the CO who did my interview did not accept our co-sponsor, but I know some who have successfully used one. If your fiance did not meet the requirements then you should definitely have one. :)

HI, i read here you used co-sponsor but was not accepted.. i just want to ask if you submitted the I-134 of the co-sponsor together with your other documents? or you gave it during the interview proper?
I'm somehow worried, my fiance just started working last february, so we dont have ITRs yet since we've been together here in manila before he went back to the states. His current income is $800 per annum short of the 125% poverty level which is $18,400 i think. But he does have savings in the bank which is over the x 5 the $800 shortage, which i read could be used as a cover up for the shortage. We've been together for 9 nine years and the upcoming interview is freaking me out. Posted Image

I know co-sponsors are not not allowed in USEM but we're also preparing his mom's ITR's for back -up, just in case.

PhilippinesVisa Delivery
Hi, I see you are under CR-1, I'm under K-1, i don't know if it's the same but I think they do additional processing for your papers like if youve submitted some more documents in the interview, in K-1, with the visa delivery theres comes a packet that you are not allowed to open, you have to bring it sealed and present it to your point of entry.. that contains maybe your files..

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNOA1 February Fillers?
Oh sweet at least I'm not alone here.....that's quite a relief. I was also reading the January 2011 Filers it seems that some of them got there NOA1 within 3 days, I hope it's also gonna be that fast for us. We should really keep each other posted knowing we have the same timeline, it's hard to wait isn't it? like wondering everyday what happened to our "hardwork" paperwork, well I guess this is just the start for us

I totally can relate.. feels like ages.. waiting and waiting, checking if there's any update.. and yes, the start of a long visa journey.. a waiting the game that is worth the while.

I also read about people getting the noa1 the same day, though the usual is like 4 days. wheeew we should have it this week.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNOA1 February Fillers?
Nice, very informative! Yes, we have G-1145 with the package and paid through personal check mailed to the Lockbox address. Oh, so we still have to wait for the mail before we can get the case number? How about for the e-mail or text notification is this also considered as NOA1 or just acknowledging that they received the package? Also, I think getting through the USCIS site we can also use the Receipt number, not sure though will this also be mailed together with the NOA1? Thanks so much, appreciate your response.

Hi! We have the same timeline, we still don't have the NOA1. Hopefully this week.. Just like you, we keep on checking..

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsI am a February filer
hi danik713,

i have the exact concern for VSC.. no feb approval so far this week.. im thinking they are trying to organize things and they are approving the RFEd cases last year and then moving on to january so as to be in the proper order.. im not sure.. the march filer who got approved i think was an expedited request.. oh my where are our case files.. the approval rate seems to be slower again.. hmmm..

 $75USD to mail measely papers.. ridiculous. It is pricey to "overnight" to Trini too. Next day delivery actually takes several days - talk about false advertising.

Congrats Andrey & Milena!!

Lovelyjoy, about time huh? I thought NVC was supposed to be quick, but I suppose a couple weeks is nothing compared to the NOA2 wait.

Welcome smasbreuk, you should get that case number soon.

Would anyone like to put a good word in at VSC for the rest of us? This week VSC has approved petitions from August, Septemeber, October, November, December, January, and March - but nothing from February. I am pretty sure we have no red flags or anything obvious to worry about, but every day I get a little nervous or paranoid. Lately I've been thinking about the interview and getting denied there. I wish there were more members or reviews for Trinidad like there is for Canada or the Phils.

jingo, I have read from other VJ members that once a form expires they will continue to accept it until a new version is published. There are also some forms which indicate "previous versions also accepted." I do not know this for certain and have only read about i so I can't give you a link/source - but hopefully they will post something new on Monday. It's really not a complicated form so I'd hope Consulars would be understanding... but who knows.

I think yes, all K-1 goes to TX Service center first then they sort it out and send them to the either VSC or CSC, depending on the petitioner's location. They sent NOA1 notification through sms and email, still waitin for the snail mail. They gave a case number that you can use to track visa USCIS website.I believe you will get it this week =D
