United KingdomLondon Medical - Knightsbridge Doctors

Has anyone had any luck with rescheduling an appointment with them?

I have one for 9:30am on the 6th, and I am struggling to find a way of travelling there without staying over night (not something I can afford this month).

It's fine to change it, as long as you give them at least 3 days notice, otherwise they charge you £95...eek!!

Hi Scotch,

Sent off for that last week ( can't remember the date exactly ). I know I've dropped the ball on this one, I should've researched it all back when we got our NOA2.

Sending P3 off tomorrow and then just a matter of waiting for the Police Cert and then the medical.

Assuming I can send the packet 3 off without having the pol. cert. and the medical?

Hey don't worry about it, there's so much to try and remember at this stage of the process, what to send in and when, that at times I've felt as if my head's about to explode..!
If packet 3 is good to go, send it in. It took them about 10 days to log mine in.
You should get your police certificate back in a few days, they sent me an email to confirm they were processing it as well.

Also, when I phoned the Knightsbridge clinic to ask what dates were available for the medical, they could offer me one the next day, so don't worry, you'll be able to get that done quickly :-)

Quick question to people in the know...

I'm just about to send Packet 3 off. Do I need to wait for my police certificate to book the medical? How do I go about booking the medical and the interview on the same day? I don't really fancy travelling to London twice in a short time (hopefully short anyway).

Is there any point doing both on the same day?

Hey there, unfortunately it's not possible to have the medical and the interview on the same day :(
The embassy won't schedule your interview til they receive your medical results. So I'd get your medical set up asap. You will need your police certificate for the medical, have you sent away for it? It'll take about 10-14 days...

United KingdomLondon Medical - Knightsbridge Doctors
Just wanted to post a quick review regarding my recent medical.
I had it last Fri, Feb 18th and for anyone who's feeling a bit anxious about it, don't worry, it was pretty quick and easy :-)

I arrived at Bentinck Mansions about 10 mins early (it's a 5 min walk from Bond St tube) handed over everything I was told to bring and was given another questionnaire to fill out. It's pretty similar to the one they ask you to bring with you, just a bit more detailed.
Was then called to go and see the nurse to discuss my vaccination record. She was perfectly pleasant, asked me if I'd had chickenpox (even though my doctor had written on my vacc record that I had..) and asked me if I wanted the TDap, which I did. (I hadn't been able to get it from my doctor and was anxious to get everything out of the way for AOS). She gave me the jab then I went back to the waiting room.
I was then called by the doctor, I think he was called Dr.Sugar who had a quick look at my info. I hadn't had to tick 'Yes' to any boxes, so he seemed happy with that. He then took a blood sample, listened to my heart and lungs and sent me on my way. No peek down the pants(!) personal questions or anything like that.
The final step was the chest x-ray which literally took 2 mins. Again, the man who operated it was very pleasant.
Went back to the front desk, paid my £225 :( and received a certificate of my vacc and a copy of the DS-3025.

In and out in 45 mins :)

United KingdomAnother vaccine question

We're pre-emptively re-doing all of them in anticipation of getting the NOA2 in about 40 days, but we're not sure about whopping cough. The nurse says that he is vaccinated, and won't give to an adult, but there are no records. Any ideas? Are they letting you schedule your interview, now, or do you have to wait until you have medical clear and what is the wait time, currently, just curious, as you are ahead of us in this wait game.... .

NOA1 10/27/2010 CSC

Well done KutaKendra, you're a lot more organised than me..! lol
I've never heard anything about needing whooping cough...As far as I know all that is required for AOS in the case of an adult is mmr, TDap/UK equivalent and a not on your vacc record from the doctor that you've had chickenpox, as the varicella vaccine is available in this country. See if your doctor will give you the flu jab as well, Nich-Nick told me there has been a change in legislation about that.
Here's the link http://www.visajourn...43#entry4427343
They won't schedule your interview til they have your medical results. No idea about the wait time to be honest, hoping London will get my packet this weekend, getting my packet 3 together this week...I'll keep my timeline updated!

United KingdomAnother vaccine question

If your doctor won't give you the shot, then that's his medical decision and not much you can do about that except beg him for maybe a 3 week interval. Another option that you could try from our experience--

We had no VJ tips, so husband went to NHS and showed them the list. His doc said he was covered except for MMR and did an immunization thing to take to Knightsbridge. At the visa medical, the shot nurse said his DTP record wasn't sufficient. He elected to go back to NHS to get it free. Knightsbridge held his records and gave him their fax number. They wait on the lab work to get back too. He got DTP at NHS and they faxed in the details to Knightsbridge. Then Knightsbridge added it to his immunization worksheet and signed off and sent everything on to the embassy. They mailed him the finalized DS-3025 immunization record. They were very helpful in that way. Maybe you could ask them to hold your results until you can get your other shot.

I know you're in a hurry to get to that finish line, but one extra week in this frustrating journey gets really small later when you're down the road past it. Or you can just pay Knightsbridge for it which is the least hassle. I bet they will give it to you. That's probably the advice I would have given back when I was all tense about things--just pay for it no matter what it costs and get it over with!!! Arrgh!

Good luck to you.

Thanks again Nich-Nick for the sound advice :-) I do tend to get myself in a bit of a flap sometimes, and it takes a while before I can stand back and think clearly...
That's great that the clinic were so helpful with your husband. I think I'll just get my mmr today as planned then get Knightsbridge to do the other one.
I think I've been more anxious since I got our NOA2, if that's possible..! It doesn't help that I haven't seen my fiance in nearly 5 months, but I just have to keep drawing on those reserves of patience.

United KingdomAnother vaccine question
Don't suppose there are any doctors out there who can help me?!

So my visa app is currently winging it's way from the NVC to London and I've been trying to sort out my vaccines for what seems like forever...
Really don't want to have to pay/find a civil surgeon for the AOS.
Getting my mmr booster done tomorrow, had to be postponed as I was on antibiotics...Now the doctor is saying there has to be a 4 week gap between the mmr and the DTP/Tdap injection... is that right?
Is so that's a real pain in the a** as I was hoping to have my medical in 3 weeks time and leave with a completed DS-3025

Or maybe I'll have to try and get them to give me the Tdap in London and hope they don't notice the mmr was only 3 weeks before...!

Superb ta! That would have been a wasted journey.. Think the embassy site could do with updating that!! Do they tell you everything you need ie vaccinations etc?

I know, there's no mention of it, they seem to be forever moving the goalposts... :(
Here's the link for the London embassy medical exam page: http://london.usemba...xamination.html
On the right there's a link "additional info etc" which is a PDF with MOST(!) of what you need to know about the Knightsbridge clinic, including the questionnaire that you need to fill out and take with you.

A few other people have mentioned it on here as well. Not sure why, but it's a fairly recent thing...

I got the NOA2 in the mail earlier this week and the notice from the NVC with my fiance's LND number today! Things move fast when you get out of USCIS.

Now I just have to figure out these sponsor forms. I'm not sure if I am actually supposed to check the joint sponsor box if I'm going to have a cosponsor to meet income requirements! Does anybody else know how to fill it out? (form I-864)

Hey Amelia, congrats! For the financial affadavit of support you'll be filling out form I-134 for the interview. I-864 is for adjustment of status later...
Unless you're scarily organised and filling those forms out already...! lol :-)

hey guys

question for you.. my case got sent from NVC on 25th Jan.. My packet 3 hasn't arrived so should I call someone..? Also Ive noticed some of you have booked medicals before receiving packet 3.. Is that the case and how do you kow what to bring..? Sorry Im being a gimp here but this whole thing is becoming overwhelming!! Good luck to you all!!;0)

Hey! Yes, I know how you feel, it's all starting to get a bit overwhelming...!! Did you get your London case number from the NVC? If so, call the DOS and they'll be able to tell you if London have logged your file and if/when they've sent out Packet 3.
You can book your medical as soon as you have your London case no. You need to take your Police Certifcate with you, plus your passport, passport photo (UK size is fine) vaccination record and the medical questionnaire that you download from the website....

United KingdomIf you are filing a K-1 through the London embassy raise your hand!!

So... I want to find all you London K-1ers out there! I have talked to a couple of you via Visa Journey and Facebook, but I want to see who else is out there! It makes a world of difference to find people who are going through the exact same thing as us.

If you ARE in the same boat AND you are due to receive your NOA2 soon, I am happy to tell you that it seems right now, the embassy is moving pretty quickly through things!! I called the NVC today to see when our case had been sent out (they were closed yesterday due to inclement weather) and found out that it had left NVC on Friday last week. I then called DOS and talked to a very nice woman who said she had "some good news for me" :) Packet 3 was sent out TODAY!!! I am floored. I did not expect that fast of a turn-around. It sounds like we will be receiving our Packet 3 less than 2 weeks after I got the hard NOA2 in the mail. I am keeping my fingers crossed that this means they will work quickly to log our paperwork once they get it and that we will have our holy grail, the interview date, quickly as well!!!

Hi!! We have the same NOA2 date :-) Our case was also sent from the NVC to London last Friday! Thought I would leave it another few days before calling the DOS...holy moley, your packet 3 was sent out today?!!!
I just booked my medical this morning for the 18th...Bloomin heck, better get a move on filling out my packet 3 forms...!!!

Do you mind if I add you as a friend? Would be good to keep in touch :-)

Hi there, I also wondered why my packet 3 letter was taking so long from London. It turned up on Thurs dated the 3rd of Feb - with no stamp or postage payment on it..!! Probably a miracle it turned up at all! Maybe that's what happened to yours..Maybe they're try to save money???! :bonk:

United KingdomOh no...

Wipe away the tears. You did exactly right! Always follow the London website at this point of the journey. Only the paper DS- forms go in the mail.

Nich-Nick thank you for coming to my aid yet again :)
A lot of UK VJ'ers have been saying on here recently that you had to include photos in packet 3. But like you said, I'm following the London embassy's instructions.
Seems like a lot of people on here have yet to do that...wow did I just say that out loud??! :innocent:
scotchland5206FemaleUnited Kingdom2011-02-19 16:55:00
United KingdomOh no...

Can you not bring them to the interview and have them accept it that way without RFE?

I know its different but in Canada you are ment to bring the photos to the interview and they staple them onto the papers in front of you.

Hi Inky, thanks for the reply :-)
You have to take 2 photos to the embassy for your interview in London too, I think that reading other VJ'ers posts made me a bit paranoid...! The aim is to get through this process sanity intact lol!
scotchland5206FemaleUnited Kingdom2011-02-19 16:52:00
United KingdomOh no...
So I sent off my forms for Packet 3 yesterday when I was down in London for my medical. Thought since Royal Mail is doing such a great job at the mo (Note my sarcasm) they'd have a better chance if I sent them literally round the corner...
Now I think I've messed up because I didn't include passport photos :crying:
It doesn't say anything on the embassy website about including the photos when you send in the forms, but I just read on here that I should have attached them to the DS-156 ...?

Possible delay coming my way... :(

Thanks for your reply, all info that you have given has being really useful. Please I would like to know if its okay for us to get all the necessary documents such as the police report now before our NOA2 approval or should we wait till we are given an interview date? Thanks

You should apply for your police certificate as soon as possible as you will need it for the medical :)
You should read Nich-Nick's K1 UK Help, it covers everything you need to know.

You can get them done in your local Snappy Snaps if that's easiest, think it's about £13 for two, not sure of the exact price.
When I was in London for my medical yesterday I went to a place in Charing Cross underground station that does them for only £8, but obviously that's only helpful if you're in the area..!

This is discouraging! I just got word from DOS that our packet 3 was logged today (we had them sign for it, so we know they got it on Tues last week). I knew it would take a while for it to be logged... but I thought once that happened the interview would be set relatively quickly! His medical was on Feb 11th and they received the results on the 16th. I hope it doesn't take too long to have an interview set!

Do the people in the US embassy in London celebrate American holidays? Or just English ones? Like, would they be closed on Pres day even though they are in England?

It is quite discouraging, I know what you mean..! We're a week behind you; they received our packet 3 on Tues and would have received the medical results today...Well we'll just have to wait and see, looking more and more like a middle-April interview...I was hoping to be bouncing out of here by then!
Might have to push back our incredibly tentative wedding date....

Hi Chimneygrl, although you sent them packet 3 a few weeks ago, they will wait for the results of your medical before scheduling an interview. So if your medical was last Mon, the 14th, the embassy would have your results Thurs/Fri. It seems to really vary from case to case how long the wait is going to be. Keep calling DOS like you're doing as someone on here, whose interview is on Fri I believe, didn't receive the interview date letter at all..! Someone else whose interview was last week was only given a weeks notice..! :bonk:

I had my medical on the 18th so am hoping to hear something within the next couple of weeks

My advice is to keep checking back every day!! My fiance called the DOS last Tues, woman said our interview date was still pending. Received my packet 4 appointment letter today informing me that my interview is THIS Thurs...! So I would be prepared for incredibly short notice at the mo...

(The letter was dated last Thurs, the 10th)

So we neglected to call the DOS for 3 days and now it's a mad scramble. Think my printer/copier is about to burn out lol...

You've made the right choice. Put yourself first. You know the misery of waiting on London. What if they didn't send you a new appointment for a month and it was for June??! You'd be a basket case. :crying:

Re: paystubs. He can scan and email.

Hey Nich-Nick, that was my feeling exactly. What if I had emailed to request another appointment date and the person that read it thought; "well they obviously don't care that much so we'll put them to the bottom of the pile"
Definitely not a risk worth taking. I would be in a real state, you're right!

I have work commitments that I'm really not sure I'll be able to get out of...

Ask DOS if they have record of all that specifically entered. There are people who have found out the P3 was never received (or more like it was lost by the Embassy) And check back. Nattrav said her letter failed to come until the day before her interview when she was on the way to London. Luckily she knew the date from DOS and went without her letter. The letter took 3 weeks from when it was mailed and didn't have enough postage. It should come soon but keep on top of it.

Just thought of another thing. What date did you give them for your wedding in the cover letter? Wondering if they shoved a few in before you that had earlier wedding dates.

Wow, what is it with the embassy and their lack of postage payment?! Maybe they think that they're exempt from paying it or something...! I think I mentioned it before, but my packet 3 instruction letter turned up with no stamp on it. But I was half-expecting to not receive it at all from what I've read here.
I need to get my fiance to go through the records with them like you suggested. He doesn't fully understand the process, basically because I've done it myself(!) so I think he's only been asking if the interview date has been set.

Ha, I had the same woman I think, just after you. It also felt like she had to go all the way across the office to check... She told me mine is pending too, but I only sent my Packet 3 after the medical last week. Everything is paid and my side of everything is done. She hung up after she said 'it's pending, that's all the computer says.'

Wow it sounds like we did have the same person! It was my fiance in the US that called and I was listening in on Skype. That's what she said to him, he said "ok, thanks" and that was it, no "bye" or anything..!

United KingdomInterview Date...

Ok, so... have you had your medical at least 5 days ago? Have you sent in your packet 3 at least 3 weeks ago? Have you paid your visa fee?

If the answer to all three questions is yes, then your interview should be set any day now, and the DOS can give you this information:
The date the embassy received your medical results, and the date the embassy logged your packet 3. I am assuming that they have both of those pieces of information if they are using the verbage that your interview date is "pending." I head words regarding our interview ("your appointment date has not been sent yet") once all of that information was in the computer.

Call the DOS and ask specifically, "when did the embassy log packet 3?" and "when did the embassy receive my medical results?"

Our interview date was set roughly 4 days after our packet 3 was logged (they had previously received the medical results). I have heard that if packet 3 was logged before your medical results were received, it could delay the time it takes for your interview to be set, but I don't know for sure if that is true or not.

Hey there, I had my medical on Feb 18th, sent packet 3 on the same day, so that's 3 weeks tomorrow, and paid the fee 9 days ago...
Hoping to hear better news tomorrow..! I know you're not supposed to compare your timelines to others on here, but I can't help it! Someone sent in their packet 3 four days after me and got their interview date 5 days ago...

The pharmacy is literally a 30 second walk, they're really efficient and organised. £3 to store your electronics, which is pretty reasonable in my opinion, considering they have the monopoly for the US Embassy and could charge a lot more if they felt like it..!

Getting there early doesn't mean you'll be seen earlier. I got there at 8:15, my time was 10:00 (!) because I couldn't sleep so I thought I might as well go. Had a cup of tea in Starbucks (couple of doors down from Gould's Pharmacy) and joined the queue at 8:45.
I was in the door with my ticket number by 9:05, but wasn't called to the first window until about 10:50. After that, it was about another hour before I was called to the second window. I was out of there around 12:30. (I'm just about to do a proper review)

its a laptop that fits a wide screen laptop,so i dont wanna take a chance on that being considered a 'small' laptop. i think im gonna just wait at the pharmacy around the corner and then run back to the embassy as soon as i get my backpack put away. thanks for all the help with this

When I was at the embassy on Thurs, the guy in front of me in line for security had a smallish backpack, no one batted an eyelid. As long as you have no electronics (that includes any cables, headphones as well) and don't have a backpack that looks so big you could take it on a mountain expedition (!) I'm sure you'll be fine :-)
