Congratulations!

What time was your interview? I have mine tomorrow at 1 pm and I am not sure i will be able to do the oath ceremony the same day. I was also thinking of going early morning.

thanks!

My interview was at 2 pm, but I wasn't called until about 3:10. Still made it to the last oath ceremony that day (I should mention that my interview lasted about 45 minutes), they actually started it late, around 4:50 to make sure everyone goes through.

Good luck!

Brijo, I know this is a very hard situation for you, and I hope that everything turns out well. Just know that the rate of false-positive results can be quite high even in advanced tests. Please give your family my best wishes, you have been such an inspiration and help to all of us here.

So you requested for name change when you file N400 and requested addition change to the name change at the interview?

No, I did not request name change at the time of filing.

I definitely think so. I requested additional change to my name (spelling) since I had to do it anyway. I think other changes to N400 (for example, updated travel) are acceptable during interview.

Congratulations mwazowski! Was your oath a judiciary oath? Is it really possible to have the name changed during the interview? I thought it has to be done when we file.

No, regular oath with everyone else. The IO just wrote the new info on my N400 during the interview and I had to sign a paper (I think it's the actual petition to change name) he printed with the old and new name.

Thanks Brijo and Nightingale!

In my birth country they use a patronymic as a middle name. Although it is not included in either my passport or any of the docs issued in the US (except our marriage certificate), it is still considered a middle name by the USCIS. If I didn't want it on my Naturalization Certificate (which I didn't), I had to do name change. And since I was doing it anyway, I changed the spelling of my first name slightly, which I wouldn't otherwise have done. But it all worked out great!

Hello everyone!
I passed my interview today! Amazingly, took same day oath even with the (unplanned) name change.

Sorry I have been silent for so long, it's just that my case is not at all straightforward and I was not sure about the outcome to be honest.

Can you please update:

ID, OL, OD 09/09/13

Thanks and good luck to those with upcoming interviews and awaiting updates!
