K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsBANK ACCOUNT BALANCE

Hi fellows,

Always good to hear from you all. How much is good enough, I mean for low income earners like me to show in my letter from the bank for my fiancee's interview? Somebody told me that your account balance must be in the $5000, at least. How true is this. Peace.

There is no requirement for your account balance. However you will need a letter from your bank showing the total deposits and average monthly balance for the last twelve months. This you will need for the interview. Of-course, as Jamie said, you will need to make enough $$ anually to be 125% above the poverty guidelines.

June is coming  as well as NOA-2!!!

June??? I was hoping for end of May. Maybe that is wishful thinking. But I did start the first of March. I am soooo tired of waiting. I need some good news. I miss my lady toooo much. Can't wait to see her in June. Hang in there everyone.

I think about June only because we got our NOA-2 on 27 March :) What worries me alot is our petition wasn't touched at all

I saw many February filers got NOA-2, so i gues our time is coming :)

Yeah, I have been doing a lot of wishful thinking hoping that we would get our NOA2 at the end of May. May 31st will be exactly 90 days for us. But I won't hold my breath. I haven't got any touches since 03/12/07, but I really don't think that is a problem. At least I hope so. I figure when it is finally touched, it wil mean something important. I find myself on the USCIS website every day now, used to go only once a week.

Hang in there all of the March filers, we are nearing "our time in the spotlight"

The wait is getting harder each day I look at the calendar. My petition has been "setting" for around 72 days now and I can't believe we will have to wait up to three more months or more! I am heading off to Bangkok in four weeks for a seven day visit. I can't wait!!! But alas, I know that I will have to return and go into the "waiting mode" for many more weeks. But I know that every day that passes by on the calendar is one more day closer to being with my love.

Hang in there everyone!

good.gif good.gif good.gif good.gif Yesterday, after a long hard working day. I received an email from the USCIS telling me that I got approved:

EMAIL: "On April 7, 2008, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE(E). Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service"

They received my application on Jan 30 2008 and I was mailed a notice NAO1 couple days later.

QUESTION: Do I need to do anything now??, I guess i am waiting for my NOA2 Hardcopy to be mailed to me to see what is going to happen next.

I noticed that some of you have tracked their application throughout the whole process......are they going to issue me another receipt number or they will notify me once the application arrives to the right location.

Please let me know

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reportsand so i had my interview today..
QUOTE (envy_me @ Apr 24 2008, 02:47 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
and so i had my interview today..

my interview appointment is 7:30am, i arrived at the USEM 5:30am (nde nman ako bibo! smile.gif ) lotsa peeps offering visa picture and seat services. don't be surprised by the peeps offering u seats and askin for the P30 seat fee.. wacko.gif

around 6:15-6:30am the guard started to call peeps that are scheduled for 7:30am interview, and so we immediately walked towards the line near gate 2.

at the gate 2, we were asked to show appointment letter and an ID, after passing the guard, we passed through a door where all your bags and stuff will be scanned, then pass through pavilion, and we entered the USEM.

inside the USEM, we were asked to sit on blue chairs and wait til the guard call our row. then we waited for several minutes then we were asked to stand on line where they gonna ask for your DS forms and in return they gonna give you a number that you’re gonna use the whole time you're there. (note:make sure u have filled them out correctly and completely, hassle kse pag nde). after u got the number you have to wait for your number or your name to be called for the pre-screener or finger scanning.
(note:pinoy lahat ng pre-screener.)

then, i was called for finger scanning first, i repeated it for 3 times since my fingers seem wet and that when i try to push it down the scanner it wouldn't show perfect prints.. after that i was asked to sit for a while and wait for my number to be flashed on the screen.
and so my number was flashed and i was asked to go to window2 2. the guy asked for my birth cert and nbi, but insisted that he gets my cenomar.. he did smile.gif he asked my questions about my birth cert.. then he asked for the affidavit of support and income tax return 2007 but i gave him 2006, 2007, and w2.. then asked for pictures and emails, i said we hav no email since we chat everyday, i also told him i got phone bills of my fiance.

so all in all, with the pre-screener i submitted birth cert, nbi, affidavit of support and income tax returns w2, 2006 and 2007, pictures and phone bills and chat logs.. also with the pre-screener i was asked some questions like when is my bday for several times.. LOL! then i was asked to sit at the waiting area and wait for my number to be called.

and my number was flashed for the final interview.. WINDOW: 28
i entered the room and he greeted me good morning..
i sat and said "hello, good morning!"
he asked me to swear that all imma say is true.. i said "YES!"

here are the questions : (note:this is how i remember the order the questions were asked to me)

1. who is your petitioner?
2. when is his b-day?
3. where was he born?
4. was he ever married?
5. how did u meet him?
6. when was the first time you talked to him?
7. what does he do for work?
8. what do u do for work?
9. how many times did he come to visit
10. for how long?
11. when was the last time he visited?
12. how many times did he come to visit you?
13. why didn't he come back?
14. did he meet you parents?
15. why would you wanna marry him?

then he looked at the phone bills of my fiance, our pictures and he read some of our chat logs..

then he said.. "well, everything is fine.. we just need one more document from you"..
my face became serious and he said "u don’t have to worry, here's what i need you to do.. when you go outside, wait for your name to be called and pay for your visa delivery"..
i smiled then asked if that is all.. he said "yes" then i said "thank you"..

outside.. my name was called after around 2 minutes, the guy from window 37 asked me if i already paid delbros for doc verification, i said yes and he asked me to show the receipt, i showed the receipt and he gave me a pink and white slip, i dint ask why i got the white slip since almost all girls got them and i heard from the girl infront of me when i was standing on line at window 37, she was advised that its for document verification..

this was my experience and hope it will help..

QUOTE (NaTroy @ Apr 22 2008, 02:31 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
We had our interview on April 7 scheduled at 6:00AM. We arrived at the embassy 4:30AM and the line was already huge!! After about 45 minutes, some embassy workers in yellow shirts came out and started breaking up the line into four lines according to types of visa interviews. It was complete confusion and the first worker told us to get in the wrong line!! After we figured things out and got in the correct line, we finally entered the embassy around 8:30. After about 15 minutes inside, we were called to window 25 to submit our forms and supporting documents. We received a numbered ticket. Another half hour later, we were called to window 13 to get her fingerprints taken. After that, we waited until around 2:45 for the actual interview. We were called to window 21, were the consul agent swore us in in Spanish. He spent several minutes looking over the documents. He read several of our emails. Then he asked me the following questions in English:

CO: How did you meet your fiancee?
Me: Thru an international dating site.
CO: Were you married before?
Me: Yes.
CO: When did you first visit her?
Me: August.
CO: 2007?
Me: That's right.
CO: (Looking at my passport) You went to Brazil?
Me: Yes.
CO: Did you take her with you?
Me: No, that was before we met.
CO: Who do you work for?
Me: Comcast.
CO: (Looking over telephone records) What is her telephone number?
Me: 829-***-****
CO: How many times have you been to the Dominican Republic?
Me: For her specifically; four times.
CO: You visited before?
Me: Yes, once in 2006.
CO: What was the purpose?
Me: Vacation.

And that was it! He didn't ask her anything. After a few more minutes of looking over the documents, he turned to her and said in Spanish, "I'm going to approve the visa. You will receive it within a week to ten days." We thanked him and went to Domex to pay the courier fee.
The visas for her and her daughter arrived 10 days later, and she arrived in the US last night! It still seems unreal. She will go back to get her daughter in August.
Kudos to this website for the invaluable advise and information. Now we are just looking at the adjustment process. At least now we are together.

Congrats!!!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAll new for me.
Hello Everyone,

My fiancee and me are just starting our Journey. I am just starting the K-1 process. I hope I have posted this correctly.

I am from Tennesee and my fiancee is from Thailand. I hired an American attorney in Bangkok and he seems like he will work out well. She spent six hours in his office Friday completing all the paperwork. The attorney's staff took her to get her photos and they were very attentive and helpful. He will FedEx the paperwork back to me this week for me to sign and send to the processing center here in the U.S.

This is hard for both of us being apart like this and sometimes I feel helpless, since I have hired someone to do the paperwork. Although, I do feel more comfortable having the attorney do it.

So any words of encourgement would greatly be appreciated. I will post here on a regualar basis.

Thanks,

Randy

Hi Everyone,

When we send in our telephone bills to show proof of a relationship, is it ok to black out phone calls that are not to our fiancee'? I make a lot of telephone calls and I really don't want more people than necessary to know who I call, even goverment workers.

Has anyone done this when they send in their phone bills? Is it ok to do?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresProof of meeting documents

After already getting some great advice here, I'm almost ready to send in my I-129F packet. I'm still a little unclear on getting simple things translated like addresses and ID cards. Do I need a certificate from a certified translator or can I traslate this myself? I really only need to translate the address on mine and my fiancees ID cards and on bills that show us living at the same address. I called some translators in Tokyo and they have said there is no special certificate needed. Is this true? Anyone do this before?

What I have done so far is to copy the ID's and bills, highlighted the address and provided the Roma-ji script below it. Is that enough?

Ryan

I know when you need to translate official documents such as; birth certificates, name changes, etc.. I am pretty sure they need to be translated by an official translation service. My fiancee had a name change when she was in college and that document was translated by an official service. I did hire an attorney, so he got it done for me.

Welcome aboard and we here at VJ wish you the best!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNotarized Vs Certified Copy

Been reading alot (who here hasn't  ) and people seem to be using the words "Notarized Copy" and "Certified Copy". Maybe I'm reading too much into it but could any of you blame me? Is there a difference between the two? This is the impression I'm getting.

Notarized Copy: You take the orginal documents to a public notary. They make copies of it on their copy machine. Stamps it and signs it with their infomation and stables it. If the stable gets removed it's no longer a "Notarized Copy".

Certified Copy: Getting a copy of the document from the place that first issued it. It looks identical to the orginal or has a "copy" with the seal of the place that issued the orginal document.

Or is it:

You can't "Notarized" a copy. You can only "Notarized" a signature.

You can "Certified" a copy by adding the lines: "Copies of documents submitted are exact photocopies of unaltered documents and I understand that I may be required to submit original documents to an Immigration or Consular officer at a later date." Date, sign and print your name on it. Or do you have to fill out the FC-029?

It may seem like I'm nitpicking and I would perfectly understand if anyone thinks so but I received an email from a friend with the instructions on Packet 3 from the US Embassy In Cambodia. I rather give them whatever they want. They want an orginal AND certified/notarized copy? I'll give them 2. lol They are known to misspell things and such. Are Notarized and Certified Copy the same thing? Or is there no such thing as a "Notarized Copy"?

Requirements based on the email of instructions:
Birth Certificates: The original and a certified copy of your birth certificate is required.

Requirements based on AFFIDAVIT OF SUPPORT requirement.
Notarized copies of his or her latest federal income tax return;

A notarizied copy of something is just affirming officially that YOU have signed whatever document. It just verifies that is is truly your signature.

A certified copy is a copy of a document, (Birth Certificate, Death Certificate, Marraige Certificate, etc.), that the copy is from the originating source, i.e. County Clerk's office or a goverment agency.

So long story short: Notarized document is verifying your signature; certified copy is an original copy from where the document was published.

Good Luck,

Randy

I agree with everyone. I am so sorry that this has happened to you. But she has shown her "true colors". Of all the things for her to do; this has to be the worst. Trust is extremely important in a relationship and perhaps even more in all of our situations, with the miles and the wait between us all here at VJ.

If she has broke the trust now, do you really want to take the chance with her later on? I would say move on and don't let her threats of suicide bother you. She is just trying to manipulate you. You deserve better.

Hello Everyone,

I have not made many postings here, but I thought this one might be important. :)

I finally sent my package to the Texas Service Center on February 26th. I sent it Expess Mail and it didn't get signed for the day it arrived. But the following day, on the 28th, it was officially signed for and received!

Now I join the many wonderful people here at VJ following the U.S. goverment handle the most important paperwork I have ever done in my entire life. I am prepared for the ups and downs, the highs and lows, and the painful waiting to see my love finally here with me.

Take Care Everyone,

Congratulations in getting your packet mailed! That's one step down, more to go :P . Though you mailed it Feb, technically, it makes you a March filer (I think the first one). Your case will be transferred to California since TSC and NSC don't process I129F anymore...

Well, good luck with your journey. Sit tight because it's going to be a long wait for you if you'll get impatient.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAnother February Filer
Hello Everyone,

I have not made many postings here, but I thought this one might be important. :)

I finally sent my package to the Texas Service Center on February 26th. I sent it Expess Mail and it didn't get signed for the day it arrived. But the following day, on the 28th, it was officially signed for and received!

Now I join the many wonderful people here at VJ following the U.S. goverment handle the most important paperwork I have ever done in my entire life. I am prepared for the ups and downs, the highs and lows, and the painful waiting to see my love finally here with me.

Take Care Everyone,

Randy

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDumb Question
Hi Everyone,

When you send your 129F to the Service Centers and it gets to NVC. Just what do they do with it? It takes an average of 90 days from NOA1 to NOA2. So what happens in that 90 days? I understand the backlog of petitions, but really??? What really happens with it? Do they do any checks on the petioner? I mean if they do, it only takes a button or two to be pressed on a keyboard. I am pretty sure no checks are done on the Fiancee until later, right? So I guess most 90% of the time, it probably just sets on someone's desk or filebox someplace until it gets looked at. Another question also. Why doesn't TSC and NSC send petitions to the CSC? So, what does the TSC and the NSC really do?? Just curious.
