IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAssembling the I864 Packet....
Hey Guys! I just got my NOA2 yesterday and I am getting the necessary paperwork for the NVC stage.

I have a question about the I-864 tax information.

I ordered my tax transcripts for the last 3 years (06, 07, and 08). I also recently (this past July) changed jobs. So I've gathered all the pay stubs necessary, etc. etc. etc. etc.

But, my Question is, in 2006 I made just UNDER $7,000. I was a graduate student back then, and that was pretty much all I made. Good thing is, my income went up dramatically in 2007 and 2008 (and this year as well), so at least for 2007 and 2008, I made more than enough to meet the 125% requirement.

Is there going to be any problems for the NVC because of the 2006 tax and because I switched jobs this past year, even though this year (2009), so far I have made more than enough for the 125% requirement and I have around $10,000 in savings?

Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks!!!!!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAm I Giving Her Hard time
I am not using an attorney because my friend had the same problem of it being stuck in NVC for about 4 months. Attorneys who do immigration services have several people and never seem personal.

My friends experience was that her attorney was too impersonal and never was on top of requesting for the necessary paperwork until weeks later.

I think it comes down to confidence in being able to do it right. It can be overwhelming for a lot of people. It also depends on how comfortable your wife may be with handling paperwork. I myself hate paperwork, but can do it, but others who are not used to filling out federal government forms, etc., can have a problem.

Just wait my friend. Once you come to the US and try to do your taxes all by yourself, you will realize why your wife opted for the attorney. wink.gif Or why accontants in the US make so much money during tax time.

I filed everything myself because I actually wanted to learn the process and have the time to do this and that and sit and post on VJ smile.gif

It's also ok to feel a little confused, but I think most of us Americans have learned to keep busy with work so the days go by a lot faster and we can see our loved ones again smile.gif
