I'm so confused right now.

We've been calling 315-1566 at the embassy to find out how to get a damn copy of the Packet 4 letter. The person that answers keeps sending us to the automated system saying they no longer answer public inquiries. I spoke English and still no luck. I also told them atleast direct me to another number if I'm reaching the wrong one. All I need is some instructions on how to get Packet 4 appointment letter.

According to recording, it has been April 9 since they stopped answering public inquiries.

Help! How do I proceed in getting a copy of the appointment letter.

Hi Chester...I don't know if this will help your problem but maybe you could try to contact USCIS and get past the customer service people to speak to an agent...the agent may be able to pull some strings at the embassy to get the info you need.

good luck and keep me posted, Scott

Howdy Scott!! Looks like you get to see your sweetie a lot. Good for you!! Also looks like you are fairly new here. Your in the right place. Good luck to you and I hope your journey is short and sweet.
I am off in the morning to Bogota for the interview on Friday. Good luck to me!! LOLO>LOL.

Hey Buck!!! I do see my sweetie a lot but as you and evryone else knows...it's not enough til she's HOME!!!...I will be seeing her again in 17 days and I can't wait!!!

That's pure BS, any document presented at the lab, medical and embassy does not need to be translated if it's written in Spanish.

Buck, I hope she doesn't get it apostilled since it does not to be. People in Colombia will try to convince her that she will need the apostilles only to make more money. It doesn't have to be.

Diana

Thanks Monoke..............I had expressed to her that we needed to be prepared and that over prepared was better then under prepared. When she missed her flight on Sunday, I told her that she needed to be on time for all the other appointments. She said OK...........The result is, I got her a little excited I think. I found out it was the taxi driver who told her the nonsense about the B-cert in english. It was someone she met at the hotel that told her she needed passport size foto's.
One problem that has come up thru this is that even though we communicate very good, at times details are difficult to express clearly.
I am pretty positve that Friday I will be posting a happy WAHOOOOOOOOOO!!! I will be down there in 2 days and will be able to sift thru all the chatter. I get a picture in my head of all these people "experts" telling everyone what to do and then the talk between others waitng for the interview talking about stuff. It is an emotional event and human nature to swallow what ever is given to you. Man, if not for this site and this thread I would not have a clue to know right from wrong.

Hey Buck,

First of all I would like to wish you both the best of luck with your interview...it seems like you have all of the bases covered. I'm sure that a lot of V Jers getting closer to their interview including myself are feeling some of this pain for you... I would only hope to be as well prepared as you and Paola. God bless and keep us posted

Nice to see you again Scott! I can't believe how time flies. Good luck with ROC, it's the easiest process so far.

Scott,

Thanks for the info! There is so much info that isn't documented. If it wasn't for this website, then I would have to hire a lawyer.

I couldn't agree more Mark...we'd all be thousand$ in debt to lawyers without all of us VJ'ers helping one another.

I believe that the Certificado de Migratorio must be picked up in Bogota.

You can get it at any DAS office but allow at least 2 weeks for delivery.
If you don't have that kind of time it can be had immediately in Bogota.

Hi everyone!!!...

I see a few familiar faces and lots of new ones in this part II thread and I just wanted to check in to say Hi. We continue our journey as time has flown by and it's now time for lifting conditions. I see Charles and Lorena (parkpapa) recently posted and are in about the same time line as us...Hi Charles...

Anyway, for the newbie's...It's a long but worthwhile road you're traveling. My wife Yenifer has changed my life and I would do it all again 1000 times if I had to. I love her with all my heart. Have confidence that even through the rough times of your journey, it "will" be worth it in the end!!!

Godspeed to the Forum...

Well today i feel very impatient. It has been 105 days and my adjucation date is growing every day on my timeline. Why i dont know. Ive called USCIS three times and they tell me it may be a couple more weeks. Ive been really good about not getting upset so far and i will continue to be positive, but really the only touches that i have had is from the calls i have made. I am positive that this will be the month it would make a nice birthday present. Im not so worried about the petition because i had my lawyer put it together hoping that the money i paid will keep me out of RFE land. Still just the wait is making it uneasy at times. ClockWatch2.gif

Hi Justin,

I feel your pain. We are a few days apart from our petition timeline and every day is a little painful...but less painful with this forum as a vent. I have basically given up on trying to contact the USCIS for info because it turns out to be just a very frustrating experience. They can't tell us anything that we don't already know. All I can say is just try to hang in there and we will all do this together!!!! wacko.gif

Pekewl: I see our timelines are 1 day apart. I am tempted to call using the RFE, but logically I know its too soon. Should we just keep waiting? I know the approvals are coming about 120+----what does anybody else think about calling? Ramzis and Alane

ramzis51,

I don't want to rain on anyone's parade but I want to keep it real for everyone. As you all can see by my timeline it took about 142 days for our approval and I do know how tough the wait is...and by the looks of things that, unfortunately seems to be the norm now. Also I want you guys to know that when I spoke to an officer to confirm our approval on 09/24 she told me that it would be 30-45 working days before NVC received our case and not to bother calling...yeah right!!!...now that used to take about a week and now is supposedly up to 6-9 weeks!!! crying.gif

I will let you guys know how accurate this info is as time passes and I have more news. good.gif

Thanks Scott.. so with my situation (look at my timeline) can you kinda help me what should I say to the officer when I call this Friday if still no NOA2? Like what do you think is appropriate to say about what my lawyer said about my case? Since my case has resumed already from a RFE response back in August 22. Thanks for all the help.

I think in your case where you already have an RFE be very honest and very specific about the questions you pose to them. Try to explain details about the RFE and ask about the time frame...and why is it taking as long as it is and what more can be done to expedite the petition. Hopefully the officer you speak to can give you some answers.

Keep us posted.

Hi Scott..first of all congratulations.. 2nd is can you tell me how can you actually speak to an officer instead to a USCIS customer rep? As far as I am aware most of us that had tried the RFE trick ended up speaking to someone who doesn't really know a thing. Thank you.

This is a prompt list that will save you phone time since you may have to call several times before you are connected to the service center...if at the end of the prompts a message tells you there are no officers available to take your call you will be transferred to the national call center (this is a waste of time) just hang up and keep trying to get an officer...it took me about 20 tries so don't give up !!!

Call 1-800-3755283
Listen for the choices and follow these steps ...i other words for the first choice press 1, second choice press 2, then 2, then 4, then 2, then 1, then put in your case number ( EAC or WAC AND THE NUMBER) then 1, and last 1....the last one will connect you with a live operator...then you say you are calling to inquire about the RFE ( request for evidence ). Tell the officer that my lawyer told me i had an RFE and you want to know what they are looking for.

This works...I've used it twice and it worked both times.

I have been where you are and now I am way beyond our (hopeful NOA2 date) and now the wait is even more torture than in the beginning.

I believe the wait is worse because my LOVE and I do know each other better each day (6 trips to Colombia and 2 hours on the phone every day) thus the time appart becomes more and more difficult! wacko.gif

Good luck to you in your journey.

Scott

I am still not getting any touches despite the people approved the other day.

Feeling a little down as nothing is going right to plan, Fingers crossed that I can at5 least be assigned an officer now.

Scott and Yenifer have you been assigned an officer or started having real touches yet ??

Absolutely no activity at all even after several calls to customer service which in my opinion is a waste of time and another frustrating venture...really, I am so disappointed in our USCIS for being so lame. I am hardly proud of the job that they are doing and feel for everyone that is in the same boat as I am...the whole mess just plain SUCKS!!! (excuse my French)

I guess all we can do is hold on tight for this not so fun ride.

KEEP THE FAITH!!! And keep in touch.

Hey Parag!!!

Thanks for thr updated list...we went from 66 to 12 on the list...Yahooooo!!! kicking.gif

Even though we are really in the same position as we were in yesterday it feels good having a little false hope blink.gif ...it's definately better than no hope.

The work that you've done for this thread is greatly appreciatd!!! good.gif

Good luck- should be close now

Thank you...I hope we are close...the wait doesn't get any easier in fact I think it gets more painful!!

I think it would be less painful to walk on a bed of hot coals. At least the pain would be over quickly, unlike this visa process. wacko.gif Hang in there Scott we will get there good.gif good.gif

Yeah...I'm sure it will be soon...maybe tomorrow...or the next day...or the day after that...AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! wacko.gif
