Asia: East and PacificNVC sent out
I see you picked up your packet 3 at US Embassy on 30/11/2006. I am wondering what are the documents included in this packet. I was told that the US Embassy will mail this out - you cannot pick it up. I am just wondering how you were able to go there in person and get your packet 3.

Asia: East and PacificThe Petition Process for bring someone from Viet Nam to Unites States of America
This process usually takes a minimum of 10 months

form I-130
petition goes to USCIS
if approved the USCIS will forward to NVC to be aasigned a case number.
this usually takes about 2 or 3 weeks.
The NVC will send a packet to the petitioner and the beneficiary

the petitoner will receive an Affadavit of Support Fee Bill and form DS3032 Choice of Agent and Address.
the benefiary will only receive the DS 3032 Choice of Agent and Address.

The petitioner must pay the Affidavit of Support Fee Bill and sent to payment center in St. Louis, MO
The DS 3032 must be completed and signed by the beneficiary - return to NVC in Portsmouth, NH

Once the DS 3032 Choice of Agent and Address form has been checked for completeness and the NVC has received the Affidavit Support Fee Bill. The NVC will then mail to the petitioner a form I-864 Affidavit of Support.
This is completed and returned to NVC in Portsmouth, NH

Upon receipt the NVC will check it for completeness.
Then the NVC will send out to petitioner a Visa Fee Bill
This must paid and returned to St. Louis, MO

Upon receipt of payment - The NVC will sent the petitioner a form DS 230 Part 1 Application for Alien Registration.
this form is completed by the beneficiary and returned to NVC in Portsmouth, NH

This process may take a minimum of 4 months to complete.

After this completed and verified the NVC will forward the packet to US Embassy in Ho Chi Minh City, Viet Nam.

US Embassy will take between 2 and 4 months from date of receipt to assign the beneficiary an interview date.

it is recommended to make a follow up after it has been at least 2 months since the US Embassy received the case file packet.

They may give the beneficiary the packet at the window if the case file has been assigned an interview date.

The US Embassy staff is usually very courteous and helpfull.

They will usually tell how much longer to wait to return again - if it happens they have not yet assigned the beneficiary an interview date.

Once an interview date is assigned the benifiary receives a packet - this includes the DS 230 Part 1 Appliaction for Alien Registration and DS 230 Part 2 Sworn Statement.
There will be instructions for your medical vaccination assessment and medical examination
Instructions for your visa photos and locations where to have them taken.

There is usually about a 2 or 3 week period to have this completed - then you should have everything ready for your interview.

Interview day - Be sure to arrive early!!!
If you a Pink slip it means you passed the interview
If the beneficiary is granted a visa by the consular officer - usually the visa is ready the next business day after 4 P.M.

A kind word of advise - once you know your case is Ho Chi Minh City - make the beneficiary has her police backround completed - this could take 6 to weeks to get from police department.
