CanadaWhat do you guys do for health insurance?

Nope it's not medicad! It's just private insurance. My husband is a paramedic and that's how we went about I, because his employer insurance was more expensive and accepted in less places.

Sounds like Medicaid administered by Healthplus?

CanadaWhat do you guys do for health insurance?

I'm living in the U.S. now, preparing to get married, send off my AOS packet, and all of that stuff. However, I want to get health insurance so that way if I get in an accident of some kind I, and my parents, are not bankrupt.

What did you guys do? What should I do? Does Obamacare affect me at all?

Thanks in advance!

My husband got myself and our newborn baby private insurance...IT's called healthplus, and it's really great! We've used it for my daughters' 2 month appointment, and my gynecologist appointment and both were FREE like back home! We were in SAMS club and thats where we signed up for it!

CanadaAoS Approved.... YAY
Awesome, I am pretty sure we are going to get an RFE because we only sent them W 2 for tax return info.

Thanks. I filed for AoS at the end of May and got an RFE for things I already sent them (in June/July - can't remember) and then got the notice a couple weeks ago that I was approved and that the card was in production.

I got an email that it was shipped out on Thursday. So I should have it this week hopefully.

For more accurate times, my timeline is updated with all of it...

YAY... mine should be here soon... this week i'm hoping. Here's to not having interviews lol

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsApproval of visa, but question about POE

Hello all! Our interview went smoothly and we were approved. I am the US citizen, and I was coming home from Toronto into New York on Wednesday, alone. The border patrol agent was just awful. She was asking me all these questions about why I didn't have any bags, where my fiancé was (when I told her she rolled her eyes and asked if they had actually approved it, like it was beneath her) then she started asking all these questions about my fiancé. She wanted to know how he'd been in the states so long (since November. I told her he was allowed 183 days without a visa, she rolled her eyes again), if he'd been arrested, I said no. Then she asked if I was sure. I said yes, we had to do a criminal background check for the interview and he's had nothing more than a few speeding tickets. She rolled her eyes again. I don't know if she was just being nasty or what but she ended up getting a supervisor over who basically let me go right away. Does this sound like something to worry about? We've followed all the rules to a T.

I guess I'm feeling nervous about him crossing now, even though we haven't done anything wrong. If there was a problem surely they wouldn't have issued a visa, especially with him having a clean record and no problems with the law.

Stupid lady making me all paranoid. Any ideas what could be up?

Don't worry about it...

I am from Windsor and crossed into Detroit on a regular basis to see my fiance and ALWAYS had a rude CBP at least once a week. They are always trying to play God - it's pretty ridiculous. Just let her be bitter, because she can't take away your approval!

Congrats.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsPREGNANT women and flying

Hello all,

As my unborn son's due date gets closer and closer, I am getting more and more stressed out. I just want honest, truthful answers.

His due date is 03-12-2014.

My fiancee said her medical exam was on 02-12-2014, she passed it, but had to pick a "slotted time" for her interview schedule. She told me her interview will be on 03-03-2014.

My questions:

How long is the turn around time for the VISA after the interview?

Secondly, I've heard many people say airlines (or whoever) won't let pregnant women fly when they are 37-40 weeks along? Is this true or not? Any true answers are gratefully appreciated!!!

Worried in Hawaii

I flew at 38 weeks pregnant, never had any issues.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedureshello VJ

Anything can be used - but they never even asked for our pictures or conversations. We were approved in 15 minutes.

Good luck,

Katie

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresIs a dating website considered a "international marriage broker"?

We met through a free dating website.  I don't consider it a "marriage broker" as we didn't pay money.  But the I-129f next asks for their internet address.  Should I mention it here, or in the description of "the circumstances under which we met"?

No it's not, I met my husband on match.com - which you pay for, and I was approved and now live in the USA.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures2 Questions (1 of them not really visa related)

Hi Chris,

First of all - go get real passport photos, it's not worth them delaying your case for the wrong pictures. They're VERY particular about following the rules, do exactly as they say.

And as far as the drivers test goes, it depends what state you will be moving to. For instance, I now live in Michigan and there is no need for a drivers test to get a michigan license - I only needed my Canadian unexpired license and had to do an eye test. What state will you be in when you do move?

Nevermind , I see Kansas is the state. I would google their government laws for drivers license and what exactly you'll need to do...

I needed a bill in my name and my SSN before I could get my license in Michigan. They will have guidelines on their website, just research it!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTraveling to US with k-1 visa - getting through customs

Hello fellow journeymen,

My fianceé has now finally received her K-1 visa from Colombia and we are thrilled.  We have tickets purchased for her to come through Miami in May.  I will be with her as well.

Is there anything she should know when going through customs?  What kind of questions may they ask her?  Should there be any problems whatsoever?

I'm sure some of you have probably gone through this already so any help or advice would help.

Thanks!

Mitchell

First off, congrats on the K1...

as far as POE goes - mine went smoothly, this is how it went. we got to the customs booth and they asked for the envelope and my information, I explained I am coming over with my K1 Visa, I went in for further processing where they went over my things, and asked if I am importing my car (since I drove to the USA from Canada), and then they took the envelope, stamped my visa with my I 94 number and the expiry within 90 days. Within those 90 days you must marry, they will tell you that as well..Other than that, from my personal experience it was very easy and fast. BUT each officer is different, some are power happy. Hope yours goes well :)
