USCIS Service CentersConfused on NOA1 Date....
In my timeline I have listed California as my service center even though I sent my I129F to Texas and had it transferred to Ca. Should I list my service center as Texas or California. Also my my I-797C has a recieved date of October 13,2006 and I notice date of October 23, 2006 and I have listed my Noa1 date as October 23,2006. So you are saying that I should change my timeline to an Noa date of October 13? Is this the way everyone else has been entering their timelines? Thanks

USCIS Service CentersI-129F - October filers
Hi Sankofa, wow you are right. I am hoping we can get the visa by sometime in February but won't be worried until April due to the expiration of my fiancee's employment contract. She is from the philippines so if she has to leave Hong Kong we will have to start all over again I think. Best of luck to you and to everone waiting for thier approvals.

USCIS Service CentersI-129F - October filers

Thanks. Yes, I have seen this. But the purpose of that thread is different. The purpose of this thread is specifically to track recent filings, particularly since so many of them have been transferred to other service centers. I am hoping this will become a thread that will make it easy for recent filers to keep abreast of the experiences of others in a similar situation - not someone who filed months ago or who had issues because of the IMBRA transition.

We filed the K1 in October also so I will be very curious to see how close our timelines are to others that filed at about the same time. Eventually we will be dealing with the embassy in Hong Kong.

Thanks walls1010, not only will the Visa be issued in HK but her current passport is also issued in HK. I will research this some more in a week or so when I have some extra time but I am pretty sure you are right on this matter. And for anyone who is wondering, it is not to save $$$$ that we are concerned about this but there could be schedualing problems and wait time for the sticker that would be a problem during a short visit to Baguio City(not to mention a couple of extra bus trips to Manila).

My understanding is there is a requirement for all filipino emigrants to take sometype of class.
Here is the CFO link to research more information

Thanks, thats just what we needed.

When she starts to exit the airport at Manila holding a Philippine Passport WITHOUT the CFO Authorization (Commission on Filipinos Overseas) - then expect that the Airport Authorities will be seeing $$$$$$$$$$$$$$ signs for their pockets.
She very likely could be taken into a room and as the clock ticks - tic, tic, tic, tic - the plane starts it's engines - tic, tic, tic.

It's not a pretty picture.

So are you saying that is only a requirement based on the type of Visa. As I said she has never had a problem traveling back and forth to Hong Kong for her employment. I know she was last home inAugust of 2005. For all I know she may already have the authorization. Do you happen to have a link where I could learn more about the CFO Authorization. Thanks

Thanks, yep thats the one I was thinking of. My fiancee will already have her visa (K1) so she will not need to change her name or renew her passport. I wonder if she had to take the class before she went to HK even though she does not recall it. Also if she comes directly to the US will she have to take the class whenever she returns to the Philippines? I would hate to have her turned away from her flight over this in either case.

Asia: East and PacificExiting the Philippines
My fiancee is a Filipina that has been living in Hong Kong for the last 18 years. She has traveled back and forth to visit her family when she is able with no problem. After she recieves her visa in HK she is thinking of going home to visit before coming here to Florida. I think I read that there is a course which is required for citizens of the Philippines to take before they leave the country. Can anyone tell me if that would apply to her(she would be there a week or two) and how easy is it to take so that you don't have a problem when you leave the country. Thanks for any help.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionPacket 4 and snail mail
Thanks, it turns out it was actually lost in the mail. They responed to my email and another packet will be sent out at once (at least thats what they said). Somehow the address got messed up. I asked for the phone number to schedual the interview but we will have to wait for the packet to arrive. At least it is the first (and hopefully the last) problem we have had.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionPacket 4 and snail mail
I contacted the embassy by email and they replied that the Packet 4 was mailed on March 13th 2007. As of today there has been no sign of it. Has anyone from Hong Kong had trouble with mail deliveries. It seems strange to me that they do not have postal codes. Thanks for any help.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDo i need to have the copies???
Exact copy???? oops. I have copies of everything but not sure just which letters and phone records I sent. Don't have copies of the pics I sent but my fiancee does. Just not sure which ones I included. So should I try to reconstruct as close as possibe or just send to my fiancee the copies I have and let her take the whole thing to the interview? Also do I send her my passport?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFiancee Visa Debt Problems???

Once married, your debt becomes her debt! Be sure she realizes this and what $40,000.00 of debt takes to pay off. Of course bankruptcy is an option. anyway you decide, let her know how serious this is!!!! and how it may affect your future credit, rental, purchases, credit cards, buying a house. etc!!!!

Good luck and just be honest with her.

I don't know about all states but that is not the case here in Florida. Here we are only respnsible for the debt that is in our name(of couse that would include any joint debt with any other person including your spouse).

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFiancee Visa Debt Problems???
Your creditors may give you a 1099 for forgiveness of debt if they write off your credit card bills. On the plus side that would make your income go up. On the down side $40,000 of extra income would leave you with a BIG tax bill. I don't know if tax debt would be an issue but I would suspect that it may.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCURIOUS
Did not use a lawyer and did not find VJ until after I filed. I made a few mistakes (like form 325 instead of 325a) but fixed them after double checking and a couple of weeks of mailing back and forth. Also I did not include a cover letter, just the app and a list of attachments. Then again I think my case is very straightforward and would recommend that people use a lawyer for more complicated cases or if they are uncomfortable with filling out government forms. Even though I did not recieve an RFE even if I did the delay probably would not have been long enough for a cause of concern. That being said I am very happy I found VJ and I believe it will help make the rest of the process much easier for me.
