K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsJust sent in K1 I-129f Package!!

So we just got our I-129f package sent in yesterday after a few days of form filling, photocopying and double checking! Seems like such a weight off our shoulders now! Hopefully there wont be any need for an RFE seeing as we covered every base possible!

What do we do next though? I know there will be a long wait, especially going through CSC, but is there anything in the meantime that we can be doing?

Also, we will need her parents to be our co-sponsors as we are both in school and so obviously dont earn enough for the income limits...is there some kind of guide which clears that all up, as it seems like theres quite a lot to do to get the sponsor stuff sorted(and after i thought the I-129f was a lot to do!)

Since you're in the UK, you can go ahead and order the police certificate now. That typically takes 40 days to get and is good for a year. So, go ahead and get it now so that you can address any issues or anything that might be on it (hopefully, it's clean! ;-) )
Also, your fiance will need a long form birth certificate. So if that's not on hand, it can go ahead and be ordered.
Just my thoughts as it's what I was advised when my fiance and I filed back in May. But yeah, mostly just sit back and wait! That's the hard part! Best of luck!

Did you send your package USPS with confirmation of receipt requested? I mailed mine on May 24 and had electronic confirmed receipt that it was signed for on 5/25. yes---all Nebraska packages are forwarded to California. I haven't had my check clear yet, but I expect (and HOPE) to see it any day!!!! patience is the key


You need to get that case number off of the back of your check so you can keep up with everything online. We filed our k-1 May 4 and when I hadn't received my hard copy NOA1 more than 30 days later, I called the UCIS. They said that there had been a computer glitch and the hard copy had never been mailed out. So they went ahead and mailed it out yesterday. He assured me that it in no way affected the progress they were making on our case though. Still... if you haven't received your hardcopy NOA within 30 days, call them. I'm sure I'm not the only one who who was affected by "the glitch." lol.

I took my fiance to the airport last night :( . That will be the last time I see him in person until this K-1 stuff is all sorted out. With school and work neither of us have time for a vacation. He made it home safely, but I'm missing him already.

I was wondering which other VJ members are seperated from their loved one(s) throughout their visa processing?

Yep, I suppose most of us are in the same boat with regards to being separated from our fiances. Mine went back to Northern Ireland on the 15th of May and I won't see him until everything is finalized... we're hoping October. We have a similar timeline as well, although since you are being processed in Vermont, yours should go a lot more quickly. :yes: So at least you have that! :)

I miss him terribly but try to focus on the fact there are many things I want to get accomplished before he gets back, so it keeps me busy. Plus we speak to each other loads every single day. Hang in there.... next time you see each other you won't have to say goodbye again. THAT'S the good news! Hang in there and come here when you need some support.

Ours was hovering around the 25th of July from the time we got NOA1. About the 3rd week of June it jumped to July 10th or there abouts. Now it's moved to August 8. :(

A month ago the timeline date showed September 8, 2007. I was hoping she would be with me for Christmas. Does this mean she will not be here until the 4th of July next year? The timeline keeps changing but, not for the better.....Is anyone else concerned about this?


Yes, count me in as "concerned." In the span of just 3 weeks, our adjudication date has been pushed back an entire month. :crying: I too, was hoping my fiance could be here in November. Still a possibility I suppose, but that's really pushing it at this point. Here's hoping they speed up again soon.

Yours is taking no longer than any of the rest of ours. The entire process just got terribly slow these past few months. Many attribute the slow-down to increased fees at the end of July. But who knows. Looking at your timeline, you should be approved in the next one to two weeks. Just hold tight.

When you send in Packet 3 make sure you enter an anticipated travel date. If you leave it blank or put ASAP, your file will not be prioritized. London is very good about scheduling interviews based on the date you enter in that field. So, I don't think its completely out of the question. We received our NOA2 on Sept. 20th and NVC STILL does not have it. We do have all of our packet 3 paperwork filled out and ready to go and we put Dec. 5th as the travel date, which is probably VERY optimistic on our part. But like you said, Julez, we didn't want to leave it blank. We, as most at this stage in the process, REALLLLY want to be together by Christmas. Fingers, toes and all other crossable appendages CROSSED. blush.gif

Thank you! I was encouraged b/c when I spoke to NVC today, I needed to make an address change for my fiance, & the lady told me to fax it immediately b/c she said that the papers will not be there very long. She wanted it faxed within the hour! Sure a lot more efficient than USCIS! The personnel have been very nice; also an improvement.

Hoping for some more approvals and NVC arrivals ASAP. good.gif

After a heads up from Pedsgirl, I called the NVC and our case, too, had been received!!! YEYYYYYY!!!! Such a relief! I had been concerned that they'd actually LOST it because it took so long to get to NVC from our NOA2 approval.
Here's hoping the rest of the process is a LOT speedier!
And for those still waiting on their NOA2's I've got you in my thoughts and prayers for a SPEEDY process from here on out!

I'm SO relieved and SO happy to be FINALLY have reached this point!!!! It's been SUCH a long journey, but maaaaan.... very, very worth it!!!!

Despite our efforts to get him here in time for us to be together at Christmas (uber quick mailing of EVERYTHING), and even putting on our forms that we were getting married Dec. 24 and he had plans to travel here on Dec. 18, my fiance's interview was scheduled for Jan. 8, 2008. So all Christmas plans are now thwarted. crying.gif This process has been so long and arduous. I suppose I should just be happy there is finally light at the end of the tunnel. And I suppose I will be.... after Christmas is over.

I agree with "everyone". You simply can't count FOR SURE on the visa being there when the plane is ready to go. If you don't have the money to risk then just wait. If it's there by the time you're ready to go, you can always go for "stand by".

You can find eveyrthing you need for Package 3 here:

Print all of those out and follow the instructions. It will tell you to send in pages 1 - 4 (the "Checklist" and some other information). Note that the pages aren't in order on this link for some reason. But the pages themselves are numbered when you print them out, so make sure you have them in order.
On the first page, it will tell you all the forms you'll need to send in along with pages 1-4. You can find those here:

There is one form you'll have to fill out online (DS 156) and THEN print. It generates a bar code on the page that the Embassy will want. You can find that form here:

Also note that there is one form that you do NOT sign. They want you to fill it in but they want you to sign it in front of the Consulate I think. So just read your instructions carefully.
Also, I would NOT send in Packet 3 before your case leaves the NVC. You want the Embassy to have your case on file before you send them your Packet 3. So once you know your case has left NVC, wait a couple of days and then mail in Packet 3.

This should speed things up considerably!!!!

The NVC sent out our case to the Consulate in London on Oct. 30, they received it in London on NOVEMBER 1 AND..... sent out our Packet 3 on Nov. 1 as well!!! wacko.gif SUCH a welcome change from all the months spent THUMB-TWIDDLING waiting on our NOA2.

I have some good news too. I had written everyone in the government who represents me on October 16th, and everyone has been telling me they are looking into it.

Got a letter today from one of my reps, and it said they were told my file was forwarded to NVC earlier this week!!!! Yaaay!

I called NVC, they have not gotten it. I called USCIS, and it left November 1st. Yesterday. So, not MUCH earlier this week! wink.gif

Ah...bout time. I can only hope we're speeded along through the rest of it now. We're all ready to go; have all the money saved up for all the fees we'll have to pay for this next portion. Adam has his police certificate. Just a matter of waiting again!

We've been planning on me going to England for Christmas and Adam coming back to the US with me, to stay! My trip is all booked - December 20th to January 4th. Everyone keep their fingers crossed he'll still get his visa by then! There's a chance he still will...

Thanks everyone who's been there for me, and I'm still keeping all my fingers crossed for everyone else who has yet to be approved.

Ahhhhh....only took two months and the help of congress, but it's moving again!

Amazing amazing amazing. I was getting ready to leave for work- i get up early- and called Dave to find out what happened with his interview this morning at 8 am!!!! i'm imaging concentrating at work today will be near impossible!!!

I had to do a change of address too. I just did it online with no problem at all. Go to
https://egov.uscis.g.../jsps/index.jsp
and click on the change of address link at the top left hand side of the page. Once you change your address it will generate a touch, btw.

I have a question for you Zee....
I noticed that your wedding date is set for next year. On our NOA2 that we have, it said something about the approval being good only through Jan. 20, 2008. I have NO idea what that means. Like if my fiance didn't come into the country before then would we have to start over? That's what I originally thought. But then I saw your timeline and figured that couldn't be the case. I believe you got your NOA2 before we did, so I'm wondering what the expiration date on the NOA2 actually means.



I believe the date on the NOA2 is how long the approval is valid for scheduling an interview etc but it can be extended by the embassy if an interview date is not given in that time frame. Once the interview is done and the visa issued the only time constraint is when the visa expires. So, in our case, we may need to extend the validity of the NOA2 because it expires in January 2008 and our interview is in March but then once we have our interview in March we are only worried about the expiration of the visa itself.


Ah! Okay! Excellent. I've been so concerned with worrying about the NVC NOT getting our case yet, that I haven't really given much thought to anything else. But I had been wondering about the expiration date. So thank you!!

I have a question for you Zee....
I noticed that your wedding date is set for next year. On our NOA2 that we have, it said something about the approval being good only through Jan. 20, 2008. I have NO idea what that means. Like if my fiance didn't come into the country before then would we have to start over? That's what I originally thought. But then I saw your timeline and figured that couldn't be the case. I believe you got your NOA2 before we did, so I'm wondering what the expiration date on the NOA2 actually means.

This delay between NOA2 and NVC receiving the case is absolutely unacceptable. All they have to do is STICK IT IN THE FRIGGIN MAIL!!!!!!

I don't know what else to do. I mailed our NOA2 notice to NVC this morning myself in hopes that it'll at least raise some questions over there.

Plus, with the UK postal strike, everything is bound to take much longer for us. I mailed my fiance the original copy of the NOA2 the day after we received it (Sept. 24) and he just got it this morning. wacko.gif

Right, so as NVC still has no record of receiving our case which was approved on SEPTEMBER 20 FFS!, I called them AGAIN this morning and talked to a live person (thanks, Annette! MUAH!). Her name was Kelly and she was great.
She said it should've been there by now (finally, an HONEST response). She told me to send a copy of my NOA2 directly to the NVC. I am going to do that today. So, those of you who have been waiting more than 3 or 4 weeks for your case to get to the NVC, you might want to do the same.

I last saw my honey bunny on May 15th... a very tearful goodbye at the Atlanta airport. crying.gif Like everyone here, we thought we'd definitely be together again far sooner than this.

We got our NOA2 on Sept. 20th. NVC still hasn't received it. sad.gif


I'm still hopeful that we'll be together by Christmas. But I know we're pushing it at this point.

It's coming up on 30 days since my NOA2 and the NVC has STILL not received my case. Has anyone else here with NOA2's experienced such a long delay with the NVC? This is not boding well for wanting my fiance to be here by Christmas. crying.gif

Ok I couldn't hold it anymore and I called the CSC for the RFE trick. Piece of advice: don't say "my lawyer said that I got a RFE" if you DON'T have a lawyer huh.gif no0pb.gif huh.gif the lady on the phone called my bluff, cut me off and told straight out "you don't have a lawyer on that case, sir"... mmm well mmm so basically I took a begging tone and asked if I could get some info since I never received a NOA1 and all of that, it's been more than 4 months. So she checked and it appears that I have been adjudicated to an officer on Sept 23rd!!! So I guess I could receive some news, hopefully positive SOON... All hope is not lost. Some news is still news...
Just felt like sharing the experience.

When I called and used the RFE trick, I used the line, "My friend, who is an attorney said that since it's been such a long time since I've heard anything that I should call to see if I have an RFE." That worked beautifully.

I don't know why it increases. But I hope this gives you a bit of perspective....

For the longest time my adjudication date stood at Sept. 22... for WEEKS it was Sept. 22! Then, I sign in and it jumps from Sept. 22 to NOVEMBER 16th!!!!!!! ARRRRGHHHH!!!! But the good news is... it was approved a couple of days BEFORE Sept. 22, so you should really judge your estimated adjudication date more by the people who've filed just before you rather than what VJ estimates. yes.gif

Mine came simultaneously just about. I was checking the website 150 times a day and then I got an email notification, and checked the website again, and sure enough... it was there.
