It doesn't make a difference to him because he's not used to the wife taking the husbands name, in his culture. He wants me to do what makes me happy. I know this is not a very important post but yet it something "important"to talk about while waiting to be together. Making me feel hopeful, you know? His family name is Cruz, and although I would LOVE to his name, just to feel connected to him, it's kinda hard to pronounce correctly and may seem strange to most people. Others keep their maiden name professionally and have a married name for personal stuff. Britney Spears didnt become Britney Federline when she married. My fiancee will take my name, . Here in the USA it is a symbol of the marriage for both to share a name. Good luck in whatever choice you make. Its up to you what you want to do. So, I am going to give this a try. I have read that this is not a legally binding document, unlike the I 864. What exactly does that mean? "not legally binding"? I know that you are all talking about the Phillipine Embassy, right? but I'm wondering if some of the things would apply to other embassys as well to hurry things along. I checked my e-mail tonight when I got home and then went to check my spam folder, (which by the way I had changed the settings to NOT delete those messages because one other poster said they recieved their notice in her spam folder and I did not want to take a chance) and THERE IT WAS!!!! K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	April 08 CSC filers	Hello my April filing buddies just checking in with everyone, reading all the progress reports!! there is such great news here. it's been a long month for me so I haven't been on much. I am just worn out from waiting and then the waiting being made longer because of this delay or that Finally I am seeing light at the end of the tunnel and I can start to count down the days (assuming all goes well at the interview ) I miss Marcos so much and it feels like life is on hold without him and to top it all off his work has consumed him so that we don't even get to talk a lot. If he can come on the first of December it will be exactly 9 months since we have seen each other (enough time to have had a baby LOL) and I know there are those out there who have been apart a longer time than that and I feel sooooo for them but I guess, as I have read, when this is all over and just a memory it will be so worth it and it will not seem like such a long time nor such a big deal. Sometimes life just gets overwhelming at certain points though. SOOOOOOO, here we go, the last leg of this part of the journey to be together. Not very helpful at all. It's kinda sad, really. Maybe I should try again. I read the instructions, but how do I prove I will not be a public charge? I don't think I need to fill out the affidavit of support because seriously, I have NO ONE to support aside from myself. Or does my fiance fill one up instead? I didn't mean that you have to fill out an I-134 for yourself, definately the USC fills out the I-134, but I only meant maybe you show the embassy your financial situation, if you have any savings, assets, etc, and your income earning potential (ie, your work history) And in our case, they wanted to know that Marcos has some place to go, that someone is going to be taking care of him when he gets here. I am NOT saying the financial information about you decides whether you get a visa. I was just trying to help you with your confusion about all the paperwork. If you fiance meets the poverty guidelines and is going to fill out the I 134 form, and it's only you and him he has to support, I really wouldn't worry about the public charge issue. About calling the embassy, I think, maybe, they can't volunteer information, that's why they answer yes or no, because that was the way it was when we called to, they didn't answer any question but the one he was directly asking. Well, I guess it's nothing, just a clerical error and there shouldn't be anything to worry about. I called NVC last week and was told when my case arrived and when it left. So it's not a huge deal to know the exact dates but on the other hand it really brings peace of mind knowing it could be at the Embassy or very close to it!! Beta, our timelines look almost identical! I know what you mean about trying to plan a wedding... we set a tenative date that hopefully works if everything goes well at the interview. I received a notice from the NVC that they had recieved our petition, etc, etc, (YAY good news!!) So to find out what date they received it and when they will send it off I have to call??? So everyone who knows the date received and date left has called NVC?? Now, bad news... the last resource we had for a co-sponser just told me today that she wouldn't do it I feel like giving up, like not getting my hopes up because I am afraid he will not be able to be with us I know I can't give up, though! I read somewhere that the I 134 is a non-binding support affidavit... does anyone know about this? does it mean the person who submits it is NOT legally bound to be supportive? (obviously I am talking about a co-sponser NOT the finace, who of course will submit one too). I am going through my list of people for co sponsers and am to one of them who I am a little nervous to talk to, so I want to have ALL my information accurate before I meet with her. I have read tons about it but I am not sure about this. I have also heard that the embassy in Madrid does not even take the information for a co-sponser, in that case, how will my fiance get a visa as I do not make the income required? ok, so I am starting to get EXTREMELY nervous waiting for the NOA2 and just want to get everything in place so hopefully the rest of the process goes smoothly and quickly!
