National Visa Center (Dept of State)AOS Question

yes the only thing i have under box 12 on my w2 this year is for my tax free pay to the combat zone. housing and other allowances arent there on my previous ones. That stuff only shows up on my LES. The only thing that shows up on the w2 is base pay...but if i dont use what was in box 12, i will just barely make what they call the poverty line.

Maybe you could just include a copy of your LES with total entitlements and a letter from finance or your CO saying you make this much a month on an official letterhead

National Visa Center (Dept of State)AOS Question

So i got the tax transcripts from my past 3 years filing. I filed married joint (ex-wife). How do I show what my income is and what I am trying to qualify for? I guess in this case I would have to send my w-2s also? I have been told in the past on here that might trigger an RFE also since i'm not sending the 1040 in with it. I think even if I print out my turbo tax filing it doesnt separate our income. What is the best way to go about this? I know someone has dealt with this.

Also, on the I-864 is says that I have to add any other claimed dependent from previous year's filing. (that would be my step-son) It seems confusing...I might have to wait to submit the AOS until after I file this year so I dont have to claim my step-son (I pay no child support for him). I am pretty sure I will qualify with my income alone even if I have to count him, but it is all how my tax return looks. I have 4 months of tax free income from the last year, but if you add up just my base pay I more than qualify....I also get income that isnt taxed too..(housing, food allowances along with COLA). I really want to have all this together for when I go to the philippines this weekend, but I am pretty overwhelmed by the forms and what is being asked.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Being also in the military im sure they look at your 1040 completely especially when BOX 12 Letter Q on your W2's which lists your non taxed combat pay, as far as BAH, BAS, COLA and FSH its simply that allowances, what the military gives you to pay for housing...its not listed under income cause its not its allowances.

Just my insight

National Visa Center (Dept of State)Ds-230 question

Fill it out. Have the beneficiary sign it.. then have it emailed back to you, so u could send it to NVC. Your courier is more reliable than here in the Philippines :) Its best if you can send that form from there. Just to be sure that itll get to NVC quick :)

God Bless on ur visa journey!

Not Correct, Has to be an original Signature on it not a scanned emailed copy,so have her sign it then mail it back to the petitioner, I had her sign in Blue ink so no confusion over an original. You will get an RFE over it if they suspect it being a photocopy

Philippinesany new xoom coupon

Yeah, the representative told me that coupon codes are only meant for new customers. When I told them that I never got a coupon code when I first signed up, they told me something like "too bad". I just found out they now have a $50 minimum for each transaction, and I never really checked their exchange rates versus other companies, so I didn't realize until now that the rates aren't so good. Guess I should have been checking that all along, but I probably sent my last money to the Philippines through them anyway.

Ive tried them all..Xoom, Moneygram, Western Union..the fees are way more expensive to what I do now......I made a second Checking account, and once I received the Debit Card, I sent it to my wife, and whenever she needs me to send her money I simply transfer funds from one account to hers. Safe and effective and i have a Bank that re-emburses me for all the ATM fees involved with her withdraw at a ATM in Phils so its basically free to me now to send her money, granted she only can use this at an atm although it is a debit card but has my name on it so cant use it at any stores.

PhilippinesDivorce
Searched thru the forums there were a lot that were close but not yet the same , my question is for a buddy of mine who is in the military. He married a Girl from the Philippines back in 2003 and married her in the Philippines, and got a divorce back in 2008 by default due to no response from her (he is a USC born here in USA) and she is Filipino. a lot of his paperwork was lost/destroyed/misplaced including his Divorce decree. well thinking he is legally single maybe just in US but didn't know about Philippines law process so assumed he was single and she was single cause of decree. got married to a different girl this past Apr 2010. when processing something i forgot what he say but they need a cer no marriage for both of them and it came back with the first marriage certificate of his first marriage from 2003 not from 2010. and what or how can he going about fixing it so the marriage is not void or does he need to get re married if he cant find the original decree or does he need to file another one past the marriage date?

thanks in advance

PhilippinesWarden Message: Redesigned Consular Report of Birth Abroad
FYI for anyone in the process of CRBA

U.S. Embassy Manila
Warden Message
December 22, 2010

THE EMBASSY OF THE UNITED STATES IS TRANSMITTING THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION THROUGH THE EMBASSY WARDEN SYSTEM AS A PUBLIC SERVICE TO AMERICAN CITIZENS IN THE PHILIPPINES. PLEASE DISSEMINATE THIS MESSAGE TO ALL U.S. CITIZENS IN YOUR ORGANIZATION OR NEIGHBORHOOD. THANK YOU.

The Department of State is pleased to announce the introduction of a redesigned Consular Report of Birth Abroad (CRBA, or Form FS-240). The redesigned CRBA, which is an official record confirming that a child born abroad to a U.S. citizen parent or parents acquired U.S. citizenship at birth and serves as proof of citizenship, has been updated with a variety of state-of-the-art security features to help prevent fraud and identity theft.

Beginning January 18, 2011, overseas posts will still document the citizenship of children born overseas to U.S.-citizen parents, but the CRBAs will be printed at our passport agencies in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, and New Orleans, Louisiana, using the information provided by overseas posts. By centralizing production and eliminating the distribution of controlled blank stock throughout the world, we will help ensure uniform quality and lessen the possibility of fraud. Additionally, the Department will no longer issue the DS-1350 Certification of Report of Birth Abroad. Instead, the Department will simply provide new FS-240s in response to requests for additional, replacement, or amended CRBAs.

In order to upgrade our systems for this change, the Embassy Manila is suspending CRBA adjudication from January 1 through January 18, 2011. CRBA applications submitted during that time will be adjudicated after January 18.

PhilippinesCFO: 12 slots per day?!
So just to make sure im reading correctly from the CFO website, She has to go to the Guidance and Counseling Sessions in CFO (12 Slots per day) and the Pre-Departure Orientation Seminar (PDOS) for Filipino Emigrants (70 slots per day) 2 different Seminars, or can she just go to the Pre-Departure Seminar once she have her Passport with Visa in Hand??? prior to her leaving to the USA? just want to make sure so less time spent in hotels waiting cause she from a different island, and a 7yo child will be along with her.

Thanks in Advance

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresexpired or not expired???

Good day to all! I am a spouse of a US citizen, and had been petitioned for IR-130. But I am still here in Philippines. Everything were done already from the medical to the visa interview at the US embassy in Manila but I was given a blue paper after my interview. I'm lacking more papers from my husband. The consul asked for last 2 years of ITR of my husband. But unfortunately my husband wasn't able to send me those needed papers because at that time he was in Iraq working. My visa interview at the embassy was last January 12, 2010. So means it was 2years ago. Now my husband asked me to go to the US embassy in Manila to bring the documents ( ITR )that the consul asked from me. Now my question is: can I still be able to do that? I mean, will they still accept my documents? Can I still be given a visa? Or do we need to go through all the processing from the beginning again? Need your help thanks! God bless!

Yes I believe so, but someone correct me if im wrong since on the bottom of my invoices states

If a period of one year passes without communication to the NVC, all submitted fees and
documents expire and must be resubmitted to resume the immigration process.

so you should be able to just Redo the NVC process and continue from there, but i would call the embassy and find out for sure, maybe they have a similar timeline as well

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresHelp - DS-230 Application

I have a few areas on this form to double-check before my wife sends it to me.

Part 1
#19-25 - Does she put my family info (Petitioner) or her family info (Beneficiary)?

#31a. - I will accompany her back to Hawaii when her VISA is ready, So she enters my name, correct?

#31b. - No one else but Me & Her will fly back to Hawaii, So she enters "N/A", correct. (fyi - my name is in line #14, "N/A" is in line #29)

Part 2
#40 A-L , - All should be checked "No", correct?

Majority of everything on this form relates to the Beneficiary unless stated,

19-25 (Beneficiary Info)
31a - if filing for more that one applicant such as myself my wife(CR-1) and her 7 year old daughter (CR-2) so we put her Daughter there.
31b - we put NONE cause her daughter will be traveling with her, not at a later date

Part 2 #40 A-L - That is if anything relates to you in those statements but for US we put no on all of them

When i sent mine in I just filed the current years return so it wasn't in the system yet, so i sent in a copy of the filed return including all worksheets and schedules W2's and the previous 2 years transcripts along with the last 5-6 months paystubs, no problem with that for the NVC

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresPOE Selection

Given that Thailand to Florida is an incredibly long flight (more so when traveling with a 1-year-old), I was thinking it would be a good idea to stop off in Hawaii for a few days when my wife gets her visa before continuing on. This would give us a little break in the long flights and we can enjoy Hawaii for a bit. Also, we wouldn't have to worry about how long it would take to get through immigration in order to make a connecting flight. And then, when we fly from Hawaii to Florida, we won't have to go through immigration again.

Anyone see anything negative with doing it that way? Is it allowed?

yes its a USA POE and its allowed and Hawaii is one of the easiest and fastest POE you can do, considering all the tourists we have visit, here the average is around no more than 20-30 mins in and out

you can read the latest review HERE

Hi, all,
This question may sound a little silly but I was kinda wondering that after NVC schedules interview date at the US embassy, I just have to take a medical and show up the interview with medical result and other required document, right? Do I have to do anything specific before the interview or I just wait till the interview date and thats all?

Here is a list for the interview

I am sure this question may have been asked many time. But, honestly, I am not sure what term to use to search for it. Here is my question: how thick was your application? K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI'm so screwed... anyone have a solution?

Have been saving msn conversations and all pics on laptop since jan of this year in prep of K1 filing. 2 visits to her with all the pics as well. I was about to file this coming week, all forms and relivent info was on computer. WAS is the operative word.
My hard drive crashed yesterday. Took to local PC store to retrieve the file that contained all the info, said they cant retrieve. EVERYTHING I NEEDED TO FILE IS GONE !!!!
Anyone here a computer geek? (PC store said platter is bad) :crying: :crying: :crying:

Here is what I used before and works as good as it says I thought I lost everything and saw this covered on G4Tv a couple years back and tried it out when others told me all is lost this recovered it like a charm....word of the wise..this is what I do, after each conversation I print out a hard copy or save it in .xps format and upload it to dropbox a free online 2GB storage and which she can access as well if she needs anything
