If you have not got AP a few weeks before trip, you may want to schedule an Info-Pass appointment to your local fild office and see if they will issue it to you on the spot.

wow. i didnt know you can do that on the spot... uhm about the fingerprinting, will they need another one for this application alone knowing i had one for my AOS? thanks! biggrin.gif

USCIS Service CentersI-131 re-entry permit questions. help?
hi everyone.

i sent my re-entry permit application at the nebraska svc center last december 4 and was very happy about it until i read about the receipting delay on the website. is the NSC also experiencing delays as the others?

im planning to leave mid january, i dont know if its possible now.

-on the form, i wrote january 15 as my target date of departure here in the us. will they consider that to at to somehow prioritize my application?
-and does anyone know how long does the uscis call me for the travel document biometrics?
-in the first place, do they actually need another biometrics appointment even if i already had it for my AOS months ago?

thanks!!! i would really appreciate a reply on this matter. smile.gif

USCIS Service CentersMy Re-entry permit application is pending, can I leave the US now?

In that case you should be fine leaving anytime now.
The instructions clearly say that you have to file the application while in the US but can pick it up at an embassy abroad and that leaving the US before a decision is made on approval will not affect the application.

thanks! then id have to book a flight soon! smile.gif

You got me confused a bit: You don't have a timeline but in your info it says you filed for AOS and it's pending... that would mean you did not apply for a re-entry permit but for advance parole...

So, is your AOS approved or not?

hi im sorry for the outdated info and the timeline. yes our aos is approved and my aplication for travel document is now pending. thanks!

To be more precise:

With pending AOS status you file for advance parole if you wish to travel before receiving resident status/the greencard.

With approved AOS (as a permanent resident) you file for a re-entry permit if you will have to live outside the US for a year or more.

You can pick up the re-entry permit at an embassy overseas, not the advance parole document though.
If your AOS status is not approved - don't leave the country without having the actual travel authorization in hand (the email you got only says the case is pending, it does not say it is approved) or without beeing 100% sure that you will be able to pick it up at the embassy in Manila. I am not sure if that is an option for an AP document, maybe someone else can answer that question.

oh yea im gonna be outsoide the US for more than a year to finish my college education...

USCIS Service CentersMy Re-entry permit application is pending, can I leave the US now?
Hi. I filed my I-131 last December 4 and received the Receipt Notice a few days after.

I checked my case status online using the receipt number and got this:

Application Type: I131, APPLICATION FOR USCIS TRAVEL DOCUMENT

Current Status: Case received and pending.

On December 7, 2007, we received this I131 APPLICATION FOR USCIS TRAVEL DOCUMENT, and mailed you a notice describing how we will process your case. Please follow any instructions on this notice. We will notify you by mail when we make a decision or if we need something from you. If you move while this case is pending, call customer service. We process cases in the order we receive them. You can use our processing dates to estimate when yours will be done. This case is at our NEBRASKA SERVICE CENTER location. Follow the link below to check processing dates. You can also receive automatic e-mail updates as we process your case. Just follow the link below to register.

Does this mean i can leave the US now? (on the application form, i chose to send the re-entry permit in the Manila US embassy) Im waiting for another mail which would tell me when to leave or something but I dont really know if there is such. please clarify this matter to me thanks...

USCIS Service CentersFiled Travel Document, Waiting (and Worrying)
QUOTE (Kathryn41 @ May 25 2008, 08:07 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I believe you are supposed to have your travel document before you leave the US if you plan to be outside of the US for more than 6 months. Is it possible for you to return to the US before 6months in the Philippines instead? I know it is expensive and you would like to visit your family longer, but if you wish to live in the US you need to satisfy US immigration that your home is in the States, not the Philippines. By returning in under 6 months you shouldn't have difficulty in re-entering the US. If you wait longer, you may definitely have problems if you don't have the appropriate document. Hopefully, someone with more specific information will be able to advise you if you can use a travel document received after you have left the country. In the meantime, please give serious consideration to returning to the US before you are out of the country for 6 months.

hi. in the form 131, there was an option to send the travel document/re-entry permit in my US address or the US Embassy in Manila. and i chose the second option since i know that i wont be able to wait for it for that long. and obviously there have been no updates on the case. still it is pending. btw, im here for my college degree but ill be back before November of next year to remove conditions... (urgh to the delays caused by the overflow of apps!) thanks for the advise. i hope someone in the same situation or was in the same before answers this.
