US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionQuestion on the DS-156 Form

we have just received our "interview package" and my fiancee has to fill out the DS 156 form. There is a question on that form that asks if my fiancee plans to work in the US. We plan to get married with in a week of her entering the US and she is not going to work during that week, but as she is going to be living here a lifetime i think that it is fair to assume that she will be working in the US. How do people think that we should answer this question.

With respect to the others who have replied, you should definitely write "no" or "no intention to work." This is a trick question, just like the one that asks if the fiancee plans to attend school in US. They are trying to get evidence that the marriage is fraudulent, or that your fiancee wants to come to US not to marry you, but merely to attend school or get a job. Write "no" and your fiancee can still get work authorization later, like any other permanent resident.

Good luck!

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionCan we be overseas and still lift conditions?
We are due to get our Green Card this fall with the usual "conditions". My question is, Can I accept a job overseas and still lift the "conditions" at the end of the two years, if we are indeed still overseas? Or is there a US residency requirement for those two years?

Any help appreciated. Thanks!

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionAR-11 & I-865 boo-boo
Hi, all, I am getting ready to submit our I-751. But in reviewing the posts here, I realized I never sent in the change of address stuff (AR-11 and I-865), not once, but for the two times we've moved since receiving the original GC.

Are we in hot water with the USCIS? Should we submit just the latest move, albeit late?

Any advice appreciated!

Eddie y Gabriela

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionMoving! But not yet approved!
Hi, all! We filed our I-751 in August at VSC, which is still processing all the August filers.

Now, I have been offered a job in Oregon (CSC territory).

Does anyone know what the procedure is for notifying CIS about the address change?

Even more important, how will it affect our application?

Many thanks!

Congrats!! Wonderful Christmas present!!
By the way, when was the approved date?

I had not even looked until you asked. It was Dec. 19. Yes, wonderful Christmas present.

We have a beautiful 8-month-old daughter who has two passports, one Peru, one USA. And in a couple of years, Mom will also have two passports (citizenship is delayed because I was assigned to Europe with my NGO a little while, and don't want to get into the whole absences thing).

We feel like we've attained some stability now about where we can live, where we can work, where can raise our daughter.

God bless all of you!

Had bio appt today - I was all geeked out and wanted to go 'back there' w/ hubby to see everything but no go. sad.gif Oh well - it was still interesting. We got there about 15 mins early and they let us right in. Were only about 4 other people in there and 2 technicians doing fingerprints.

I did find it interesting that there was a desk there solely for I 90s (there was a big I 90 sign above that desk). Go figure!

Eddie y Gabriela - that does make me wonder how much of the application the ASC's see. Weird! I wouldn't have thought they'd have access to much more than your
I 751 maybe, but certainly not the photos you sent as 'proof'. Bizarre!! Guess that proves ya never really know...!

ETA the service center will adjudicate if they approve you w/ out interview; if you are interviewed, your local office will be making the decision. I presume your ASC and local office are two different places, or are they the same - meaning do you live really close to the local office, so they just send you there for fingerprints - or were you actually at a separate ASC?

If I understand you correctly, yes, we went to the Philadelphia ASC, so maybe they are making the decision, not the Vermont CSC. Being "touched" the Monday after the Friday biometrics makes me think maybe Vermont has handed it off to the ASC.

Then again, who knows? Good luck and Godspeed to all,

Curious comment from the fingerpring and photo technician at ASC in Philadelphia when my wife got her biometrics last Friday: "Your daughter looks much smaller in the photos."

We filed in Vermont CSC, yet the tech has seen the application? Who's making the decision to approve? Maybe they sent a copy of the app to the ASC? All very strange.

Anyway, yesterday we were "touched".

Good luck to all.

Hi, all! One more baby step: Got our BIO letter today. It's for Sept. 18 at the Philadelphia Application Support Center. Anybody know that place?

Best to all!

My wife's GC expires today, and, lo and behold, our 1-year extension letter arrived today.

Great timing. For the record, the NOA1 date should be 8/11 at, strangely enough, 21:08. They working double shifts there?

Anyone know when we should all expect the biometric appointment letter? A week after, a month?

Thanks,

So, exactly what is the NOA1? Is it the letter that extends the Green Card one year?

Does it also set the appointment for the biometrics?

Thanks in advance,

Hi, all! Our I-751 arrived Monday and the check for our fee cleared last night (Thursday).

Maybe VSC is grinding away at our apps.

Hi, all! We sent our I-751 Saturday, Aug. 8. Be so kind as to add us to the list. I'd do it myself, but I find VJ to be the most non-intuitive message board I've ever seen, although the information here is great.

Here's hoping all goes well -- and quickly -- for all of us.
