It does feel good to be at this stage and thanks for all the tips! So you think it's best to apply for the police certificate now rather than waiting for packet 3? I guess it ticks one thing off the list. idea9dv.gif

Another quick question is it ok to leave the country in-between the medical and the interview? Not that I've got that far yet! I've got a wee holiday planned in June and think I read somewhere that they don't like you doing this?

I did it, had my medical on the 19th December, went to Texas christmas eve till the 6th Jan and then as soon as I got back sent in packet 3, no probs at all

ME too but I sent packet 3 in and had, had my medical before I went to the States for Christmas / New Year.

Thanks for the advice. I didn't think it would matter, plus it's within the EU so it's not like I'm going boating on the Amazon or anything like that!

And like others here I've made an appointment with my Drs surgery to see what vaccines I need to get up to date. Lovely lovely NHS star_smile.gif

Hi guys,

just wanted to say hello. So glad I can join this thread FINALLY blush.gif

Plenty of good advice to read about smile.gif. I'll no doubt be posting asking for advice once I get past NVC stage biggrin.gif.

I thought I'd dip my toe in too. We got our NOA2 yesterday. I was so busy trying not to get too caught up in the next stage (taking it one stage at a time) that now it's arrived I feel a little underprepared! So I shall be reading this thread with interest reading.gif

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionLondon Embassy; Medical After Interview?
Not that I'm at that stage yet, but thought I'd offer advice!
As pothergavel says you can have the medical after the interview but your visa won't be processed until they get your medical results, or you could try to schedule it for next week if possible. But this might just add some stress. As you booked the medical before they gave you the interview date it's not your fault at all.

Hi Everyone,
well im just curiuos the processing time shown on USCIS website is showing April15th 2008...so it mean people like us who have applied in Nov 2008 will have to wait for nine months..My fiance is in Iraq he cannot go to the phones tht often to call and check...so please if you have info about how long it takes frm NOAC1 to NOAC2?
wht USCIS has written is it true , or has there been people who hv go their petitions approved just like iam reading on VJ Website?
How long do you think it will take for our petition to get accepted?
I will appreciate all comments ..
please drop a line ..
Blessings n Wishes to all who are waiting to be joined with their loved ones..
I miss my Soldier boy....

God bless

On the USCIS website it also states that this is as of 30 Nov 2008, so I take this to mean that as of Nov 08 they were processing April 08 applications - so 7 months. Correct me if I'm wrong! unsure.gif Hopefully they will update it soon for 31 Jan 2009, so we can see if this has improved or not...

QUOTE (acinlove @ Apr 3 2009, 08:59 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
What's gonna happen?
I check everyday my status on uscis website and my application is still pending and is not touched. I don't worry about that because I know it's still early for me to have some news ( I wish I was in CSC!!!!)
I am extremely worried for my timeline in visajourney.
One week ago my timeline showed me an exitimated date for adjudication on June 2nd!, three days ago was showing June 15th, yesterday was showing June 25th and today:

Based on timeline data, your I129f may be adjudicated between June 30, 2009 and July 22, 2009*.

What's gonna happen to us - VCS???? I am scared that everyday the timeline will add 5 days. What's going on?
Please somebody knows it?
Thanks crying.gif

As everyone has said try not to think about it too much. I took a couple of weeks off from VJ cos I was getting myself in a state looking at how my timeline was changing everyday (sometimes up, sometimes down) and how other people were getting approved so fast. My timeline moved to mid April after a few weeks, then moved to mid May to mid June a couple of days before we got our NOA2. It's not an exact science at all. I would just aim for the 4-6 month range. That's a lot more helpful in trying to keep the stress levels down good.gif

It feels like a while since I was on here. I loved the support you guys gave, but found it too disheartening listening to people who got approved after 20-odd days saying it was about time cos they missed their other half too much. Like the rest of us don't feel that. Anyway bitching over!

Funny thing is today was when I finished up my job too. It's almost like they were waiting to do everything at once. But I've got work with a friend for a while until my interview (whenever that may be!) to keep me busy and out of mischief. tongue.gif

Congrats on passing the test, so many people in the USA will blow it off and say it's not a big thing but it is for us UK types, I passed mine just over 9 months ago. Word of advice - look up the DMV of the state you're moving to. Some states (NC in my case) will let tourists without intent to migrate drive on their own foreign license (in our case, the card and paper counterpart, with or without the International Drivers Permit), but you cannot use it if you intent to become a resident and must take the local test and get a local license before you can drive there. Bummer for me.

Thanks guys (and BL2B)! Yeah I'm going to check out what the case is in Virginia. But I've been assured that the test in the US is a LOT easier than it is over here. I've just got to learn how to do everything the wrong way round!

To answer the other question by maria teresa, since we started the visa process my fiance has visited me twice and will come over again in May. So it'll be 3 visits in total. Since he moved back to the States in July 2008 I visited 3 times. We are lucky that we can get the time off work and afford to travel. I think it would be unfair for USCIS to expect everyone to be able to do so many visits though.

Little Johnny was on a park bench stuffing all of his Halloween candy in his mouth. An old lady came over and said. "Son, don't you know that eating all of that candy will rot your teeth, give you acne, and make you sick?"
"My grandfather lived to be 105 years old!" replied Johnny.

"Did he eat five candy bars at a sitting?" the old lady retorted.

"No, said Johnny, but he minded his own freakin' business."

I've got one. I thought I'd keep it slightly topical:

A couple goes out to dinner to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. On the way home, she notices a tear in his eye and asks if he's getting sentimental because they're celebrating 50 wonderful years together.

He replies, "No, I was thinking about the time before we got married. Your father threatened me with a shotgun and said he'd have me thrown in jail for 50 years if I didn't marry you. Tomorrow I would've been a free man!"

I've started doing the exact same thing!
"When are you getting married" - "When the US Government sees fit to let me!".

It's good to know that I'm not alone and there are other people in the same boat! It's difficult to try to explain how I feel to other people some times. I don't think they really understand the process and what's involved, and the waiting! But I plan on educating them wink.gif

Well I guess we all better make the most of living in limbo!

offtopic45vn.gif I decided that one thing I could have control of was my wedding dress so I contacted a few places. One woman looked down her nose at me when I said I hope to get married in August, but couldn't be certain. She said something about how that wasn't leaving it very long and I'd have to get something "off the rack". Then she proceeded to tell me how she has clients who are getting married in 2011 who have already bought their (couture) dresses. Oh to have a simple wedding where you can plan the date! But this cheers me up when I get stressed about the visa thing, cos they might hate the dress they chose in 2011, whereas whatever one I chose I know I'll still like it in a few months. And that day will be worth the wait! kicking.gif

I just joined VJ today (but have read the guides etc). We submitted in December and am already bored of waiting! I guess it's made harder by the fact that my other half used to live in the UK with me, but left in June 08, so it feels as if we've been waiting on this visa a lot longer! I'm not normally one to join forums but it's just nice to find a place where people are going through the same thing, cos no-one else quite gets how stressful and frustrating it can be!

As tinichka says fill in your timeline and that will give you an estimate. It also depends where you are filing. California (or CSC) works faster than Vermont (or VSC). The "processing times" tab will show you roughly how many days it takes to get your NOA2.

Things change!
When I did my first K1 people {me also} were cussing CSC as VSC was whipping out K1s in a month. CSC was taking 6 months. Either the center of population moved or ???
Longer the better as maybe K1s will get to know their mates better and not end up dealing with the government again hoping their divorce goes thru quickier!!

Such a stupid comment. You think someone makes the decision to marry (and thus apply CR-1/K3) more lightly than someone who decides to do K1?

I agree. I lived with my SO for 3 years before starting this process. He went back to the States and we decided that the K1 would be the best way to do things. We didn't jump straight into it thinking it would be an easy ride! Oh and I would say that we know each other 'pretty well'.

As for the original topic - I understand the frustration when you see one centre is working faster than the other. Let people who get their NOA2 in 15 days celebrate (albeit through gritted teeth wink.gif ) and celebrate with those that get approved after 200+ days. If it makes you feel like you are doing something by contacting people to complain - then do it!

I for one am planning on getting a job for USCIS and ruling it from within jest.gif
