Mexico, Latin & South AmericaTranslating police certificates for the Bogota embassy

If any document is either in English or Spanish, you don't need any translations. But if you have one that is in another language, then you will need to get it translated.

Diana

THANKS YES, THEY ARE IN SPANISH AND THE FORMS IN ENGLISH.

Has anyone had to translate the police certificates for the Bogota Embassy, in Colombia? We are confused, because the packets 3/4 says nothing of translating this documents.

National Visa Center (Dept of State)How to contact NVC or DoS for case number

I am in the same boat here, I received my NOA2 on August 27th, and still no case number. I contacted them, but told me to wait at least 8 weeks from the date I received my hardcopy. It's been 7 week so far, and this week I will contact them again. Good luck to you on the rest of your journey!

National Visa Center (Dept of State)Can USCIS forward a petition to Consulate without NVC?

You will have a visa number that has nothing to do with your case number filed .... you already finished the first part of the process .... we have no way to know nothing for a while

now they should send to you a copy of you NOA 2 and then the NVC will send you the new number of you visa case .... oops8rh.gif in this transition we have no way to find it out ...

You have to way at least 3 week to cll the embassy in Bogota if you do not received the visa case number. I am in the same boat , if I received something I will let you know reading.gif

we have to be ready for the medical and the final interview into the final destination. devil.gif

good luck !!

Yes, I receive the NOA2 at the end of August. It has been 7 weeks already, but NVC told me to wait at least 8 week. So will see it I hear anything next week..Thanks!!

National Visa Center (Dept of State)Can USCIS forward a petition to Consulate without NVC?

Ok, good to know. The reason I asked is because I called USCIS and the representative told me to call the consulate where it was forward. I told her that it should have been forward to NVC, but I don't know how qualify she was. I'll tried again on Monday..THANKS

National Visa Center (Dept of State)Can USCIS forward a petition to Consulate without NVC?

Good day fellow members,

Has anyone had any experienced with this that's confusing me. Our petition was approvedkicking.gif  on August 27, which I thought the next step is NVC. The form I-797C Notice of Action states that it was forward to the listed consulate. It says to contact the consulate about visa issuance. NVC does not have our petition and it's been 30days today.

Can USCIS forward a petition to the consulate without going through NVC? I am confused, and maybe on Monday I will contact the embassy in my fiancées country, because I don't know 100% where my petition is.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reportscontacting USCIS

First thing you need to do is ask your agent to get you a copy of all that was sent -hopefully he/she has a copy.

USCIS is not grammar school, so misspelled words won't really be a problem. Misspelled names or other biographical info, addresses, could be a problem.

You did get a NOA1 (notice of action telling you the petition has been received), right??

Don't panic!

You can call USCIS but there will not be any additional info. I'd suggest you register in the USCIS site so you get notification via e-mail/phone. If all goes well, your next notification will be a NOA-2, which will tell you if approved. If something is not quite right, you will get a RFE and you will have the opportunity to provide additional evidence.

Of course you could be denied, but usually it's either that some fundamental error was made in the application, or insufficient evidence was given.

Four pics might be enough, there is no actual number. WHat USCIS wants is for you to establish that there is a relationshiop, though really the mandatory things are: both are able and willing to marry (that is single/divorced) and you both have met in person within past 2 years and after the petition was filed. Pics by itself proof nothing, together with boarding passes, itineraries, receipts of hotels, tours, etc, dated will establish that better.

The petition will be reviewed based on the evidence presented and aproved, denied or a request for additional info will be made (called RFE-request for evidence). Current times are around 4-5 months I think. you can check that in what is called Igor lists here to get some idea. DOn't be surprised if it takes as long as 6-7 months. Then petition (upon approval) will be sent to embassy in country of fiance and an interview will take place. That is several months away. NO one can expedite that, unless you happen to be in the military.

Most people here is a DIY, unless you have some special circumstances -it would help if you describe your case, so best advice can be given. Most people here does NOT have special circumsntances.

In case someone here provides dubious or incorrect advice; it will be corrected. There is a lot of very experienced people here, inclusive with the country of your fiancee. If people think you would be better with a lawyer, it will be adviced veery explicitly.

For now, sit back and wait, there is not much else you can do, even if mistakes were made in the petition.

Thanks for your response, maybe I'm building stories in my own head from anxiety . I did get a NOA1, and I did register with USCIS, too. Yes, I provided all itineraries, receipts of hotels and presents I send on her birthday, and financial information because I provide for her. For now, like you said, wait and wait for the next 4-5 months...

Thanks.....

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reportscontacting USCIS

Has anyone contacted USCIS while they are waiting for approval the their K-1 petition? I just want to know if all the information was sent correctly, because I pay someone to help me and it was worse than doing it by my self. He only requested 4 photos, but I have visited her every year for the past two years. He say USCIS only needs four. The letter on how we initially met was sent with a misspelled word, and he said that would be fine, because USCIS would not denied my petition because of misspelled word. Would it make a difference if I request to see an immigration office, to check on my petition. I may be stressing, because like many of you, this is very important to the happiness of my future.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNVC Received approved petition after two months!!

original documents??? are what exactly?

I meant original signatures for Forms DS-156, I-134, and letter of intent. It's all email in packets 3/4, too. Not the forms, but the list of documents requested from the embassy is what's email.

I was getting worry that since the day I receive the NOA2 on August 27, NVC kept telling me to call in two weeks and so forth...Finally, on October 28th I receive an email that they have received my petition and was forward to the embassy..to my surprise on October 31st I receive another email from the embassy of my fiancée's country that they have received my approve petition.
