Africa: Sub-SaharanArrests made in sham marriages with Ghanaians
You said a mouthful blah...marriage is taken so lightly by some

also their motivation for greed and material things outweighs their need to be decent to each other

Those US citizens deserve the jailtime they may get because that level of greed and stupidity deserves some type of punishment. It angers me because I have struggled to convince my family & friends that I am doing the right thing and that I really and truly love my fiance and he loves me.

When I tell my fiance stuff like this, he hates to hear it. He feels like since our intentions are so good that this type of thing brings such negative attention to us & makes people doubt that a marriage long distance & across boarders can last. His heart is so pure and so is mine.

Though we have not conventionally "dated" and spent every weekend together, I respect him, I laugh with him, I want to be his wife. I want to die with this man. (L)

Africa: Sub-SaharanHOW DO YOU GET A LETTER FROM YOUR BANK??
This is why I opened an account with Wachovia. I know its off topic, but Customer Service these days is below standard. They don't even try to consider your life and what you are trying to accomplish if it's outside their "procedures". I mean man, you need a letter. Does anyone know how to write a letter anymore? *(Form letters not included)

Africa: Sub-SaharanHelp What Does this Email Mean???

That same info was on USCIS website waiting for me when i logged in to check on the status of my case weeks ago. I think the concrete interpretation to that notice may be that your case will have a shorter processing time than what obtains on USCIS processing times for your service center. That is not surprising because your case would have been reviewed to almost completion pending the RFE sent to you.

It means the final determination of your case is pretty much around the corner: Approval here u come....

Africa: Sub-SaharanGazing What Interview Date Will Be Given
I was wondering...does anyone know if the same calendar is used in Lagos for both I129 and I130 applicants? Or better yet...K1 and K3 visas. What I mean is OHENSANNE said their interiew is Nov 27 and I think they have a K3. Does this mean that all the dates in Nov are filled by now and there is no hope for other people to be scheduled in Nov? I thought maybe K1 and K3 are scheduled differently. I am really hoping so. Let me know your thoughts.

Africa: Sub-SaharanProviding proof of fiance relationship
I don't think anyone is going to sift through 4000 sheets of anything! That's overkill if you ask me. In my opinion a VARIETY of proof of a relationship is what's best.

Yes, emails (I think I printed about 60-70 over a period of 10 months).
I also included 15 pics of us together with the dates on the back
I sent him greeting cards via postal mail
He sent me via post family pics, letters & cards which I photocopied along with the envelope he sent them in. I sent him the copies so he'd have evidence of his sending things to me too.
I provided my phone bills for 10 months on my cell and home.
I also printed my other friends and family emails to him
There were some friends that sent him greeting cards wishing him well for the interview.
Even my coworkers (who are probably really tired of hearing about David) plan to send him interviews wishing him well before his interview.

So really, I think it's a combination of things that will help.

Africa: Sub-SaharanTraveling to Nigeria

I have found that for travel from Nigeria to USA, some of these websites are not Naija-friendly. North American Airlines allows you that option of placing Lagos as departure city but some others do not even have Nigeria in the list of countries..................annoying, if you ask me...

So apart from NAA, Airfrance and KLM, what other airline permits you to place Lagos or Abuja as departure city?? Any ideas???

Ohhhh I am annoyed with the same situation  . I did find that United will allow you to search and fly out of Lagos since their partner is Luftansa. Even if you find a flight for your fiance, how do you pay for it? Most won't allow you to book it online with your credit card (at least I was told that). I really worry about sending my fiance $1,000 via western union for a ticket. I don't want him to have to walk around with $1,000 in his pocket...makes me uneasy. I would prefer to use my visa in case anything happens, I am protected.
What are some of your thoughts or experiences? I am really hoping for a deal of some sort too...hopefully less than $1,000!

I also suggest love letters, any postal mail sent or received *(including the envelope)*, any wedding arrangements/announcements or events that you may have planned when you arrive in USA such as a receipt for a hall you may have booked. A few of my friends are going to post greeting cards to my fiance congratulating him on his approval. Which we just got today!

Africa: Sub-SaharanINTERVIEW CHECKLISTS !!!
I too used to be very worried about the face to face interview. I think we all have to remember a few things:

1. This is done on a case by case basis when these visas are issued. One case may have more photos, one may have more emails or phone records etc. I think that one should present what you have...all that you have and have, of course, carefully reviewed with your Fiance. David & I only have 35 or so pics also, but we have about $2,200 in phone bills, over 200 emails, letters we posted to each other etc...Even some of my family and friends have written David, so he has their cards/letters too.

2. Then you have to remember that the CO is a human being. It could be that the CO's cat died, his mother is ill, she is feeling tired, he has a bowel disorder...the point is...you NEVER know with humans...unpredictable!

3. Remember to have faith in your SO. He or she will just do the best they can with all the evidence that you two have. PRAY and be sincere. I would suggest eye contact and gentleness show.

That's all you can do...YOUR VERY BEST! So I try not to worry, but BOY, do David and I prepare ALOT!

I wish Taye and your SO the BEST of WISHES on your interview. :star: Please stop by and let us know how it goes!

Africa: Sub-SaharanNigeria Trip a sucess
Perhaps it was the sudden realization of the great world outside the borders of this large nation; Perhaps it was the ability to overcome their worst fears and prevail or perchance it was the confidence that grew out of surviving outside their comfort zones and the list could be endless...

Now you have been able to catch a glimpse of Nigeria. With your new found knowledge, i can only hope that you would not hesitate to educate some more, dare i say it...., ignorant brethren of ours who, worse still, share the colour of our skin yet are quick to latch onto statements about a nation whose citizens they may never have met, dined with, studied with, worked with or for, simply because they "heard that.....".

Masterpiece, these are profound and true words. I wonder what you do for a living. Hopefully you are a physician, nurse, counselor something involving humanity and people...some job that allows you to share ideas with others...You are very pleasant.
