Yeah, it's really frustrating the lack of completed timelines. I suppose it has to do with what was said earlier that it could be either because of over excitement or disappointment.

CaribbeanRE: Questions for my fellow Jamaican filers
I don't know how he gets by without having a TRN when most things you do these days you're required to present it. He will definitely need it for his police record as you pointed out. On Thursday when I went to express mail my package to NVC, I had to present a TRN number along with my ID in order to do so. Tell him to look about it as soon as possible, so there won't be any delay when it's required for any document he is looking about for immigration purpose.

Hi, there are actually a few threads some pages back in this section where some persons gave their reviews of the whole procedure and the time it took. If my memory serves me right, I think they were posted about three months ago.

I have never heard of this service either? I know that my husband went to the tax office in Sav for his. Not sure if I would use any service that I am not 100% familiar with.

Neither would I. Too many unscrupulous persons out there, so you have to be extra careful.

It may or may not be a scam. There are hundreds of privately owned businesses that provide passport services throughout the island. They accept applications, fees and courier the items to the passport offices in Kingston. They're like the middle man. I know this to be a fact because my fiance used one when his passport expired. The one he used was an office near his area -- they did everything -- people could even pay down on their passport fees and then pay it off at a later time. This is something very common in Jamaica. I never knew they even still did payment plans on airplane tickets at travel agencies in Jamaica, until last year. This may even be one of the places that could be open on a Saturday.

Never heard of any of this before (not disputing that it's not true). Only heard that the tax offices across the island have been offering such services to help minimize the huge turnouts at the passport offices.

FYI there is a scam going on and there is a location in Kingston taking money regarding passports within the office on Saturdays. There is also a police officer involved that I do have the full name of. Contact with this office has not been positive but we keep trying.

No surprise to me. Seems like too many persons these days are so consumed with greet that they will resort to whatever means to make money. It really saddens me to hear of all these scams going on in my country. For an island of this size there are just too much wrongs going on.

I do hope though that your husband gets through with his passport very soon so things can start moving smoothly along for you guys.

God bless.

Thanks so,much for your detailwd post. He is outside of negril about 30 min. Where can he go to get the right one?

Hey, see this link for other locations besides Kingston where he can apply. I'm seeing a location in Montego Bay which might be closer for him: http://www.my-island...in-jamaica.html

Since you have been approved and is moving on to the NVC stage, it's the right time to have him go and look about it. After getting your case number and the time comes for him to submit the ds-230 form to NVC with all the relevant documents, he'll be required to also submit police record.

For the police record, they offer an express service for $2000JM for 5 or 7 business days. He'll need to take his passport and two passport size pictures.

CaribbeanJamaica Police Cert sign it?

Do you need any papers to take with you to get you police report. Mom trying to get some ahead of time they told her she has to have the consulate's name for them to put on the paper. Don't know what they want.

Well, in my case, since it was for a CR1 visa and it had to be sent off the NVC, I wrote Nation Visa Center on mine. So I determined it has to have the name of it's intended destination.

Yes, there is a section for her to sign. I remember when I was collecting mine they told me to make sure I signed it before using it. I did so before sending off one to NVC.

I don't think it will be a problem. my mom always give my wife ackie and breadfruit to take with her for her parents every time she comes. My mom is spending a week her and her parents right now, and she took some with her on her trip earlier this summer.

Jamaica's mailing system is actually not that bad. I used their express mail service to send off my package to NVC and it got there ok and on time. I have also received quite a few valuable packages and have not once had a problem.

Check out the poe ( point of entry) section. Filter to the reviews of his poe, the airport in the city where he'll be entering the US. Some poe are quick, especially those that don't get a lot of immigrants. The ones that do may have an immigration processing area that people are told to go to and wait their turn to be processed. CaribbeanKingston Medical Exam Tips

My fiancé had his medical exam on Aug 23rd. He spent about 7 hours there. They did a physical exam, x-ray, a blood test, a vision test, and asked some questions. He did his vaccinations prior to the medical exam, so he brought his vaccination record with him. My fiancé didn't have any of his vaccination records from the past, so we just had him do all of the required shots a head of time, which was about $200 USD. They said he didn't need anymore vaccinations at the exam, so they just charged him $9900 JMD for the medical exam. They let him know right away that he passed the medical exam and told him to come 3 days prior to the interview to pick up his medical records to bring to the interview. What are you nervous about? Do you have any specific questions? The cost of the exam will totally depend on how many vaccinations he needs, if any.

This is about right. Had mine last Monday. I was there for about 7hrs as well. The amount it will cost depends on the amount of vaccines he'll need after paying the registration fee. I needed three vaccines, one in two doses. I'll have to get the other dose in 4-8 weeks. They told me that all my test looked great, which I took as me passing the medical. There is really nothing to worry about if your fiancee is healthy and not on drugs.

CaribbeanSent in K1 30days and still no Receipt #
Most people get noa1 within days of mailing off their petition, so it is certainly not normal to wait 30 days. However, I've seen a few threads from people in similar situation as yours. I don't know if they eventually heard something positive from USCIS. I do hope you will hear something soon though, as I know how frustrating it must feel not knowing for sure if the petition was received.

CaribbeanK1 Jamaica - DHL Pick up vs Delivery

Yeah, it's due to AP. But what causes it to go into AP? Does everybody go through AP after the visa has been approved? I'm sure they review all documents after approval, but it must be sitting in a pile somewhere untouched.

No, not all approvals go through AP. AP is when they do further checks and clarifications for whatever reasons. Hopefully yours will be quick. Just keep getting in touch with the embassy until they tell you AP is over and the visa ready to be issued.

Agree. Some (K1) took 2+ weeks. Not sure how some are processed quicker.

I'm not sure if she was the same person that said they were told they are in administrative processing. If she is, the hold up is definitely due to AP and not so much DHL.

CaribbeanK1 Jamaica - DHL Pick up vs Delivery

Wow didnt know they delivery visas to your home...they never asked him that. Did you have to ask the embassy if they did that or did they ask you?

I guess they do home deliveries to mainly areas in the cities or close to one. The DHL yellow slip is the first thing you're given at the front desk of the embassy. You then choose where you want to have it delivered to by writing the address along with your name and contact number on the back. I would assume that if the address that you put on the back, if it's out of their range, they will tell you to choose a DHL closest you for pick up when you go at DHL window to pay.

For certain areas pick up at the nearest DHL office is the only practical option. I'm in Portmore so I opted for home delivery, so hopefully I'll get it delivered to my house soon.

CaribbeanDENIED

I have an UPDATE. My fiance was contacted by the embassy by phone around 4pm. They called him, blocked number, it was a man. He said that he was sorry about today and they are going to generate a new interview date for him to come back in. The "system" will print it off and it will be mailed to him, he should receive his new appointment date letter within 2 weeks. He said that he will need to return with more proof and bring more pictures. Make sure to write the dates on them. He said just bring pictures and it does not necessarily have to be pictures of us together, it could be ones of me alone at my house that I send to him. He does not have to do any of the forms or fees again; only pictures or proof. I do not understand and I do not get it, but hey, at this point, we will take anything they want to give us. So now, more waiting...

That's great. All the best with the new interview.

National Visa Center (Dept of State)6 days and Case received by NVC!!!!!!!!!!

Hey guys,

I sent an email two days ago and today I got the answer saying they received my petition on NVC \o/

Then of course, I called to make sure and yes, its there... the OP told me they got it May 14th!

Now i need to wait between 7 to 12 days to get my case #

Happy Happy! it took 14 days to get there... but finally its gonna be moving again!

Wow that's great news. I'm happy for you. My wife called Tuesday, but they told her they haven't received ours as yet. She's going to call back tomorrow and see. I hope we'll get some good news then.

Ours has just been received and have not yet been assigned a case number after almost one month since it was approved. I know how difficult it is when the wait seems like forever. You just have to not think too hard about it, and just pray, be positive, and hope things will go smoothly in a timely manner.

National Visa Center (Dept of State)NVC CASE COMPLETE ?

just called nvc to see if they have recieved my packets and they told me to wait 20 days before calling in to check if they have them ! is that really true or was he just trying to cut me off ? im ready to get an appointment ....

That's what we were told too. It then took us two weeks and some days to find out if they received the package and that the case was completed. So it seems like their usual response. Just keep calling every week until you hear something.

They ALWAYS say that, but that is NOT always the case!~

There have been plenty of members who have gotten their interviews scheduled at all times of the month.

Once the date is set, ask them what EXACT day the case was sent to Kingston and I can help you track it through DHL

Well, my wife is due to give them a call by next week, so we'll see how it goes.
