Quick question: I received package 3 today and saw that of form DS-230 I got only part I, no part II....

Even though the forms 'expired' they are probably still good as they haven't been updated. You can go to uscis.gov and check the forms list or DOS website. On the uscis site it shows dates of forms still accepted on the list.

In your timeline it says that Ombudsman filed a formal inquiry...could you explain what you did and what he is doing???


I filed form DHS-7001 with the ombudsman. It's for people seeking an immigration benefit (like I129f) who are having problems with USCIS. It's a simple form where you fill in your info and describe your problem.
Ombudsman takes it up with USCIS and you get an answer within 45 days. Much of the ombudsman's work is aimed at fixing the overall problems and I think he uses the complaints to get an idea of those so I am afraid it may not help much more than congressperson's inquiry. But what else can we do. mad.gif I tried to add a link to the form below. Also it has to be mailed, not e-filed.

If you experience problems with a pending USCIS immigration benefit, please submit your case problem using Form DHS-7001, CIS Ombudsman Case Problem Submission. Hey guys. I jsut worked ten hours straight and my brain isnt' working when I try and figure this out. How do you figure 30 days out of processing .. for a date?



Sorry to give you some bad news on this, but the beauty (from vsc perspective) of having a set processing date like june 18 and adding 30 days is that TIME NEVER MOVES. Unless your received date is within 30 days of june 18, i.e., may 18/19, you can NEVER get to that magic 30 day mark!!! mad.gif

So we won't be able to ask for service until they admit they are processing july 6 (received june 6), in my case for example. Who knows when that will be, and meanwhile they are processing october petitions. So we are stuck with waiting for them to post updates and hope the dates don't go backwards like they told Lora once! blink.gif

But anyway, it doesn't seem they give a $%^# about service anyway so what good is a service inquiry?
I really hope Lora's Senator is able to get hearings on this so there will be some consequence for their fouling up this process.

Hey guys. I jsut worked ten hours straight and my brain isnt' working when I try and figure this out. How do you figure 30 days out of processing .. for a date?



Sorry to give you some bad news on this, but the beauty (from vsc perspective) of having a set processing date like june 18 and adding 30 days is that TIME NEVER MOVES. Unless your received date is within 30 days of june 18, i.e., may 18/19, you can NEVER get to that magic 30 day mark!!! mad.gif

So we won't be able to ask for service until they admit they are processing july 6 (received june 6), in my case for example. Who knows when that will be, and meanwhile they are processing october petitions. So we are stuck with waiting for them to post updates and hope the dates don't go backwards like they told Lora once! blink.gif

But anyway, it doesn't seem they give a $%^# about service anyway so what good is a service inquiry?
I really hope Lora's Senator is able to get hearings on this so there will be some consequence for their fouling up this process.

As a side note, I tried to call using the RFE trick today because I thought I might be getting close with all the Sept filers approved lately, I couldnt get a RFE person and it kept kicking me to cust. service so I tried back about 10 times and still couldnt get a hold of one so I just let it take me to the cust service people. This is at 430pm CST. The cust serv rep told me that my case is still pending and I was still in the 6 month timeframe. She added they are currently working June 19th petitions. I check the CRIS website at 730pm CST and it shows approved. Shows what they know.

I'll be happy for it. It hurts my heart that nobody from June has been approved in days and days and days and days. Since before the holidays at least. Still waiting on my congressman. I sent over a privacy notice they don't require just to see if that'd give them a poke. I doubt it will, and I'll have to call next, which I hate doing because it feels like I'm nagging.

But seriously, this sucks.

Technically speaking no one is allowed to view your case without you present for the call. It's a waiver form.


*dies* My congressperson told me that realistically this should take a year. USCIS is ####### and underfunded and if we push now they'll just ignore them. A YEAR. And I can call back in a month if I haven't heard anything.

Don't be silly, they are not processing september now!! I have that on the authority of Don, ID (short for IDiot) 138LM - a supervisor from customer service!!!

They are only up to June 18, which has mysteriously appeared as the current processing date for both CSC and VSC!! And AFTER the update was sent out on december 14 it said 6 months still, now it has changed without an update??!!?

So, conveniently that means us june people cannot even ask for a service inquiry because now we are not 30 days past this bogus date. Sounds a little coincidental to me ...

when you sent in the RFE how long was it before the website showed that they continues to process the petition.....I sent my 1 week ago and nothing


I overnighted it on a Friday, 12/14 for them to get it Monday, 12/17. The site reflected they received it and resumed processing on 12/18. On the advice of others on VJ, I wrote RFE all over the envelope. I am not sure whether that helped.


Anybody know how to file of a formal request for service? You have to wait a month after 6 months to do so, yes? Well, that's Sunday. tongue.gif So, any tips guys? My congressman has been no help whatsoever. Once, they gave me the same line that the Customer Service folk did, and the second time I received no response at all.

Yeah, I wouldn't call CS and ask for help. They'd just tell me somebody had it, don't complain. Nevermind they've been saying that since November.


Forget them......Do the rfe thing and act innocent about how you got there....that was what made mine move....of course I got an RFE but at least I knew they had it..........Customer Service just runs interference for USCIS


That's what I do, but I get different answers about my status every single time. It's with them on the 24th Nov, the 28th Nov, soon, wait two weeks, soon, wait two weeks, the 28th DECMEMBER.

I understand believe me......I was told mine was with an adjudicator from Nov. 1 then Nov. 17, then Nov. 28th, then Dec. 12.......Finally touched Dec 12 from a change of address.....this really old lady talked with me rustled paper and started talking to me about my application.....I think she was the adjudicator......that is why I think she pulled the crate from June first week which we are all in and is slowly.....very slowly breathing and working on them.....Virgil said the same thing that he got a touch after changing his SO's address............This is so bad and so frustrating we all should be bald from pulling our hair out..........Lora



Actually, Ric, it might work to try customer service. That is how it is supposed to work. They can do that over the phone. They actually tried to do that for me after telling me I was outside commit time on december 19, but said computer forced transfer to vsc (maybe a lie i guess?).

At vsc I got the idiot who claims they are up to may 19, so i hung up and used the rfe trick to change the address the next day with different officer who acknowledged they were processing july, etc. but said i had to wait 30 days beyond 6 mo.s.

That is monday for me as well, so I will try customer service again and try to start an inquiry. I'll let you know what they say ... this is ridiculous isn't it?
