Hello,

I haven't yet gone through the process, but from what I've been reading, documents should be translated. Anyway, better to have it just in case, right? kicking.gif

If they are in Spanish and you are going to the Consulate in Juarez you DON'T need to translate them.

Mexico, Latin & South Americadocuments translated for Consulate in Juarez, Mexico City???
Hi everyone.

I'm going soon to the consulate in Juarez for my interview and I had a couple of questions.

= Does my fiance have to attend the interview or with just me (the beneficiary) its ok?

= Do my documents have to be translated? (birth certificate, police records, etc?) they are apostilled right now but I was wondering if I had to translate them.

Cheers everyone and thanks cici for the incredibly detailed and helpful comment.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionI-134 documents notarized???
We just got our NOA2 so we are gathering the following documents for the interview. Do any of them have to be notarized???

I-134
2008 Income Tax Return
2008 W2
3 prior years of tax return transcripts (call IRS or visit IRS website for the form)
Letter from employer (if possible because some company don't give these out, if not then the recent pay stubs will suffice)
recent pay stubs

Thanks everyone.

Yes, when they finish processing it and they say they have sent the letter I am going to go to Juarez. I will not be waiting to receive it by mail. Thanks for the words of support.

Isi,
Thank you for the encouraging words. It's just getting harder each day.

Andrea

I FEEL VERY DISAPPOINTED AND DISCOURAGED sad.gif

I CALLED JUAREZ AND THE DUMBOS TOLD ME THAT THEY WERE STILL PROCESSING THE PAPERWORK FROM NVC....IN OTHER WORDS, WHEN I CALLED LAST WEEK I WAS TOLD THAT OUR CASE WAS PROCESSED AND THAT THEY WOULD MAIL OUT THE LETTER IN LIKE 10 DAYS.....THEN YESTERDAY I INFORMED THE PERSON THAT I WAS TOLD>>>>>PROCESSED!!!!!!!, BUT NO.....THE PERSON SAID THAT IN THEIR SYSTEM THEY WERE "DOUBLE CHECKING" INFO FROM NVC AND WITH THE ELECTRONIC COPY (I THINK).......

BUT ANYWAYS ANDREA, I WILL DO THE EXACT SAME THING AS YOU GUYS.....I WILL NOT WAIT FOR THE LETTER TO COME IN THE MAIL, I ACTUALLY DOUBLE CHECKED WITH THE PERSON FROM JUAREZ AND SHE TOLD ME THAT 'YES'....WE COULD PRINT OUT THE FORMS, GO TO JUAREZ, AND NOT HAVE TO WAIT FOR THE LETTER (BUT ONLY AFTER THEY PROCESS EVERYTHING)

SO, I WILL BE CALLING THIS FRIDAY AGAIN AND POSSIBLY START MAKING RESERVATIONS TO ARRIVE ON SUNDAY NOVEMBER 8TH.

BTW, JUAREZ WILL BE CLOSED ON NOVEMBER: 2,11,13,16,26,27

LETS PRAY SO THAT WE CAN GET OUR CASES PROCESSED ALREADY ANDREA......LETS HAVE MORE FAITH AND VALUE OUR RELATIONSHIPS EVEN MORE.

ADEMAS, POR ALGO PASAN LAS COSAS good.gif

I can just wish u the best of luck and be patient. I know how difficult to go through all this but in the end it will be worth it.

Cheers!

So now we are going to deal with the time crunch involved with getting the form to Manuel (remote location - no mail service), back to me, and then to USCIS in time.

Please pray for us!!

Wow, sorry to hear that! We wish you the best. And we the "old timers" are here to help....
I

I have a question for "old timers." Today Roberto called Juarez to ask if ours was still processing or if they sent our a letter yet and they said that only the petitioner can get that information. Is that true? So Only I can call?

Also, did you call and find out they sent it or did you wait for the letter? We want to go as soon as they have sent it because we think it may never arrive in the mail because the mail in Yucatan is notoriously bad.

I am glad people are finally writing on the Juarez forum! It makes me feel so much better to know we are not alone.

Genny

You are totally not alone. There's a lot of us that went through the same thing and that we want to help out. good.gif

In my case we both called and as long as we had our case number they gave information to the both of us. I had to keep calling every week after a month had passed that they received it. One day they told me they had sent the letter and a week after we got the letter. So for us I think the waiting time was around 6 weeks from the day they received it. I know it may seem like a long time and it was but you just have to be patient.

Cheers and the best of luck to everyone.

Interesting. I would get it either way just in case. It's really easy to get them and it's free. Better to have more than less for this kind of paperwork.

No you do not need police certificates for K1 Visa or any Visa in Mexico.

Actually you DO need the police certificates for K1 visas for every place you have lived since you were 16 years old. Sometimes they don't ask for it but they could easily ask for it because it's in their list of required paperwork. Watch out with that.
When I went they didn't ask for it but I had them all the same. One from Mexico and one from Canada because I lived there for almost 2 years.

Here is the link to their site regarding that topic.

The one in the back I'm not sure what it is. I just know that the official one is the one next to main avenue. (Paseo de la Victoria). And you will see tomorrow which one is the right one just by the amount of people in line outside.

Congrats epifreak!!!!

After all that stress before and during the interview and finally being approved I got back to the hotel to take a nap. When I woke up it was around 2 and I checked the DHL website and to my surprise the VISA was ready and waiting for me. I just got back from going and picking it up. I'm just so surprised about how lightning fast the interview and getting the visa was. The medical was another story but whatever it's done.

To answer some of the recent questions.
They are still not using the DS-160.
They did ask me for the DS-157.
At the clinic you can pay with pesos or dollars for the medical exam.
For the visa fee at the bank you have to use pesos.

Regarding the questions about the interview. It's pretty much what everyone have posted. In my case it was very fast. I think it was that fast because we sent a huge I-129F that the interviewer was reviewing. The only thing extra he asked were pictures. That was my case, either way come prepared with lots of things.

Cheers everyone and good luck!

I got approved!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now the famous dhl wait. Thanks everyone for their support and their knowledge.
Regarding the payment it was indeed 1900 pesos. It is significantly less now because the dollar now is at 13,50 and a couple of months back got to be around 16.00.

Either way. Cheers everyone and now I can finally relax.

Thanks a lot to everyone who makes this site so incredibly useful.

Cheers!

Also. How did you pay for the medical exam and the visa itself. Can you pay the medical with credit card or u have to pay beforehand at the bank? If that is the case do they give you the info for paying at the bank when u first go to the Consulate?

The same question for visa. I know they tell u to pay it at Banamex but do they give u the info to info for paying at the bank when u first go to the Consulate?

Thanks everyone and thanks JenandDavys for that very useful piece of information.

Cheers

Hi David-J,

The Holiday Inn you want to book is Holiday Inn LAS MISIONES. It's right across from Las Misiones Mall and literally a 2 minute walk to the consulate (you can see it from the hotel parking lot).

I don't know if you can pay the medical with a credit card, we paid in cash, and you pay AT THE CLINIC, not at the bank. The visa fee is paid BEFORE the interview, and you can pay at the Banamex at the mall across the street from the hotel. When you pay the fee, they give you a receipt that you take to the interview to prove that the fee has been paid. When you go into the bank, you have to take a number for a "ventanilla" as you walk in the door. Then you sit down and wait for your number to be called. When they call you up to the teller window, you tell them that you want to pay the visa fee (there is a flat fee for visas, so you don't have to specify that it's a fiancee visa). When we paid at the bank, I think the fee was like $171 US. I think they also ask you for your name. They print the receipt out, and you're done! You have to take this with you to the interview, I don't even think they'll let you inside the consulate without it.

They only give you one receipt, so make sure you don't misplace it. Assuming you are going to go to the consulate early in the morning for the interview, you won't have time to get to the bank to pay the fee beforehand, so pay it the day before. You can also get passport photos at the same mall.

Good luck!

Thank you very much limejello. I think I'm ready now.

Congrats limejello.

I have more or less the same doubt as Ivonne'n Jim.

How much time do you guys who already went through the whole interview process at the Juarez consulate recommend to stay in Juarez.
A full business week. Like having the medical on a Monday, the interview on Tuesday and having the next three days for waiting the Visa.
I was just wondering if the people who have recently got their visa could post how much time after the interview had to wait for their visas. It seems for what I have read that the time has diminished to next day after the interview. I just want to see how things are happening nowadays more or less.

Cheers, congrats to all the one who went through this successfully and also patience for all the ones who are waiting.

I haven't called them because I saw this in their website.

Consulate General Operations

All immigrant visa appointments are cancelled at the U.S. Consulate General in Ciudad Juarez beginning Thursday, April 30th through Friday, May 8th. The immigrant visa panel physicians will also be closed during this timeframe.

It has more information regarding all their visa services. Hope this links helps.

Hi everyone,

So I am collecting the evidence and I've noticed a lot of people here don't submit the sworn affidavits even though that on the USCIS instructions says that you need it. What is the deal witht his?

Are they needed or not?

HI everyone.
I received my Green Card today. kicking.gif . Now that I have pretty much finished the process I just wanted to share a couple of things that may help you in your process.

- One thing I noticed that it helped us a lot and I didn't see it posted here, was our K1 visa evidence. We submitted a lot of stuff. Lots of telephone calls and I mean a lot. Lots of emails, several photos, etc. Because of the amount of things we submitted when I had the interview at the consulate for the K1 they didn't ask me much. They just looked at all the phone calls and said WOW. Same thing with the interview for the Adjustment of Status. They just looked at all the phone calls and the officer said " you sure called each other a lot", 5 mins later we were out the there approved. I'm not saying you must do as I did, I'm just telling you how it affected us in a very positive way.

You provided evidence of phone calls after you were married for the AOS interview?? Why??

I'm just telling you my experience. You don't need phone calls for your AOS interview but like they have said before they forward your case. So for the AOS they have all the paperwork and forms you have submitted. In our case when they were reviewing our case it helped us when they saw our evidence. When they saw it they just knew that ours was a serious relationship and therefore the interview was a mere formality. Just my experience.

Cheers and good luck!

HI everyone.
I received my Green Card today. kicking.gif . Now that I have pretty much finished the process I just wanted to share a couple of things that may help you in your process.

- I know everyone says it but it needs to be repeated. Be honest in all your applications, don't lie or conceal any information. Makes things easier and faster.
- Be patient and don't rush your application. Make sure you have all the paperwork for it. I know you want to be with your significant other as soon as possible but triple check everything.
I'm not saying you must do as I did, I'm just telling you how it affected us in a very positive way.

So in summary, make sure you prepare very well that K1 visa because it's going to affect the rest of the process. Hope it all works out for you as it did for us. Also remember to stay calm, if you prepare everything right and triple check it, everything will be alright.

Cheers and if you look at my timeline and my circumstances and you think I can help you out; send me a message and I will be more than gladly than try to help you.

Cheers and good luck everyone!
