How are they enjoying their stays in the U.S anyways. Is is diffucult for them to adapt to the U.S lifestyle.I know it is pretty fast and hectic here but with the right support, they will scale through

Thanks again.

Hi Guys,

Thank you once again for all the support as usual.

Now that my fiance is approved , he wants me to find out what POE to the U.S still gives Temp EAD.

If any of the newly approved fiances can give some insight, i will greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,

I heard people say JFK and HOUSTON do give temp EAD's. I think there are many J.F.K;s aiports if i am not mistaken mentioned on VJ. I just wanted to be sure

He is trying to book his flight.ASAP.

Africa: Sub-SaharanAddress change for both USC and fiance b4 filing AOS

Maybe I read this wrong but I thought the fiance will be going to live at the new address when he arrives. If this is the case the "new" address will be the address on his I-94 and then on his AOS. Then, I thought the only person moving was the USC which for AOS I did not think her address change would matter unless she moved after she files the AOS.

If the new address is used for the fiance when he arrives and for all of his forms then he wouldn't have to send in an address change. I think the issue came because there will be a different address on the I-129F (the OP's "old" address) and I thought the OP was wondering about the apparent conflict between the two, but maybe I just read it wrong. I thought she was the only person moving and that he will go to the new place when he arrives and will be filiing from there. Maybe I am just confused.

K.

You're not confused. This is how I read it as well, and I know I wasn't mistaken in my post, but I gave up on wrestling with VJ posters long ago. So, my suggestion is, if you know your new address now and your new fiance has not arrived in the country, both of you should start using your new address on every form you fill out from now on and you'll have zero problems.

Yup. Zero.

I'm done with this thread.

So Peter$Dana, k-quandry,ET-2004 and others. All these interchange of ideas has totally left be confused.

Pls can you break this down in lame man terms.

I got the apartment for the beginning of April 1st,2006.I still live at my current address. If he comes into the country after April 1st, he goes to the new apartment that i got on April 1st.

Does he have to fill out the form AR-11 as soon as he gets in before filing the AOS after the marriage?
I will be moving in with him after the wedding scheduled for later in April.

Does this make sense now?

Okay ,hope it is a little clearer.

Africa: Sub-SaharanAddress change for both USC and fiance b4 filing AOS

Will you be at the new address when he comes over in April? Then he should also give this address at the POE. And you can use this address for AOS without an AR-11. That is what we did.

If you haven't moved by the time he enter the U.S., then he will give the current address at POE and as Reinhard said, will file the AR-11 as soon as ye move.

No i will not be at the new address yet until after we are married. When he comes into the country, he goes to that address.

Would that change everything as far as the address put on the 1-485?

Africa: Sub-SaharanAddress change for both USC and fiance b4 filing AOS
Hi Guys,

I put this question out on the AOS thread. Hopefully, we can get some answers here too.

Thank you once again,infact everytime

I do have a situation.Infact, i don't know if it is a difficult situation but i still need honest answers.
I will appreciate any suggestions.

Here it goes.

I as the USC fiance, i used my current address during the 1-129F, 1-134 i.e K1 Visa stage with the USCIS.

Now that his visa got approved, he would be coming to the U.S in April.
I as the US citizen got another apartment which we would be moving to before the wedding. ASAP i.e in April too (so completely different address now)

I was wondering on the AOS form, do i put the new address or still use the old address.

Does he have to fill out AR-11 and USC also fill out the appropriate form cos technically, he has not lived with me in the current address that we used for the petitions?

I don;t know if this question makes any sense, but i will appreciate honest opinions.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Neya,

A very big step in submitting the Form I-129F form now.It is very important you put evidence of your meeting with your fiance within the past 2 yrs. Proof of ongoing relationship would be done later at the interview stage.

What you will want to do also is get a I-129F cover page and list all the documents you are sending in.(check the example form section) on the VJ page.
Travel itineries are important,
Passport stamp pages are also important. It shows you actually went to Nigeria(Arrival and Departure).
Photos are also important. As much as you can gather especially showing both of you.(Don't worry if it is 2 or 3)Just submit what you have. You should take more when you travel again with your son. Make sure it is dated. You can print out more negatives to use for the interview process once it is approved first.

If you can also get 2 or 3 letters written up till the time you submit the application i.e showing dates from when you started dating and maybe till now. That would be great.
2-3 copies of e-mails that you send to him. This can also be done at the interview stage.
Phonecards would also be great.(Not a whole lot)
IM conversations is also acceptable. Not too much. You don't want to bore the Adjudication officer.
Also, make copies of all the pages in your U.S passport and also submit.
Make separate copies of the passport stamps and put it on top of the whole passport page copies

The I-134 form should be saved for later and dated close to the INTERVIEW DATE once it is set and if your petition gets approved which it will by God's grace.
Leave the police certificates for later for the INTERVIEW.You still got time.

Hope this info works. Other people might have more input.
All the best. And you don't have to go to Nigeria again to get more proof. You already have more than enough.

Africa: Sub-SaharanTourist Visa from Nigerian Embassy
Sweetie made a good suggestion.Go with either k1 or go to Nigeria, marry the guy ONLY if you know him well enough, marry him, come back to the U.S(Know that is hard) and file for CRI or K3.

Go to nigeria, take lots of pics , come back and start gathering evidence of your relationship and file K1 while he remains there, file 1-129F petition(process usually takes 6-8mths) and voila,he would be here by God;s grace. For the k1 though, you have 90days to decide to get married if you still want him and if it doesn't work out or you change your mind( God forbid), call it quits and he goes back to Nigeria.

Maybe other people on this forum would have more info. This is a great site and we are all here to support you one way or the other

Africa: Sub-SaharanTourist Visa from Nigerian Embassy

The biggest advantage of the K-3 is that your husband receives his green card and work authorization within weeks as opposed to 4-6 months.

The CR1 would offer that benefit (takes a lot longer to obtain, though). The K3 most certainly does not give anyone a work authorization and green card within weeks. The EAD and Adjustment process for a K3 is not all that different from a K1. ;)

This is all new to me. I feel so lost. I just know that right now we need to spend time together which is the reason that he is coming over as a tourist. EAD, AOS, K1, B1, K3......it is another language and another world. Basically, he has a letter from his Mother stating that he works in the family business and via the many corresponding emails with the embassy that I have sent to them this should prove soci-economic status for them.....I had suggested to him that he does an immigrant visa....I read about that on the embassy website and it cost about $365.......how does this work? Is this better? Also per the qualifications for a K1 fiance visa we do not qualify....we haven't known one another for 2 years.....that is the way we understand. Is there someone that I can talk to in Oklahoma who is able and willing to explain this process to me? Like an attorney or someone? I am in love wth someone that I feel is finally right for me and but he is a whole world apart from me!
Right now he has an appointment set at the end of this month.....I scheduled it off like that so that I can obtain more information. I am getting desperate and I feel like I don't have the knowledge that I need to win this race. ...I am trying to catch up and get the knowledge that is necessary so we can be together.

My only input, ewa is that regarding the k1 visa, YOU HAVE TO HAVE MET WITHIN THE PREVIOUS 2 YRS NOT KNOW HIM FOR 2 YRS. There is a difference, so reiterate, you do qualify for the k1 fiance visa,YOU HAVE MET HIM WITHIN 2 YRS.

Make sure, you have your flight information, the one you used to travel to LONDOONStart gathering evidence like pics you took together if any, copy of passport stamps to show you went to LONDON within 2 yrs of you filing a petition for k1 visa, copies of letters or e-mails if you have been sending e-mails, greeting cards if you gusy exchanged some , i mean ample evidence that you do have a relationship.

Sorry, mistake on the Going to Nigeria or having met in Nigeria. I meant meeting in London

He said i served him but i wasn't aware and i did not remember but we hit it off anyways.we started dating that year but you know, i had to come back to the states to complete my schooling. Finally decided to get married and went back to nigeria to get engaged last year. THat is how the k1 process started.

Africa: Sub-SaharanVaccination supplement question

Well, the form given for the medicals for a fiancé before theinterview is DS-3025 which is the vaccination worksheet, but the form that is requested for AOS is the vaccination supplement I-693A. Some people have sent in just the worksheet (or a copy of it) and been fine, and others have got a RFE.

It also matters if your fiancé needs more shots. Some shots are not routinely available in their countries, which means they still need the shots once they come here. At least that is my understanding, which is why they want a "supplement". If you are trying to go ahead and schedule an appointment and everything before he arrives and before your marriage, ask him what shots he has checked off on his form. Or if is he here already then just look at it and go from there. To be able to accurately tell you how much your costs will be the civil surgeons office will need to know what vaccinations he will need.

I know I already posted about the civil surgeons in my area (I think we are in the same area) and how I thought they were ridiculously expensive and one lady was rude. So I took my hubby right acroos the border to a different state for his "supplemental" vaccinations. It was $10 to transfer the record (from DS-3025 to I-693A), $45 for the blood titre(?) (to test for chickenpox resistance/antibodies) and $20 for a Td shot ---- for a grand total of $75. Which I thought wasn't that bad.

Also, I think different states call the marriage document different things. I think in TN, the license is the certificate; the certified copies of the license are just mini-versions of the original license. I suggest getting a certified copy from the clerk's office a week or two after your license (which is signed by the officiant who performed your marriage ceremony) is returned to their office. If you get a certified copy it is certified by the clerk's office (which means it is as good as the original) and you get to keep your original license for your own personal sentimental purposes.

K.

p.s. If they want to charge a ridiculous amount at least ask them for a break down of the charges and see what they say.

I called a civil surgeon's office in Nashville and they quoted $100.00. For what? Transferring. That is ridiculous. Could you let me know what office you went to out of state. Hopefully, somwhere we could drive down to.

Thanks.

Hi Guys,
I would like to ask a question about the vac supplement. As you all know, my fiance got the k1 visa and after the marriage, he would have to submit a vaccination supplement with his AOS package.

Since he had the medical portion done in Nigeria before a visa was granted him.Does he still have to go to a civil surgeon in the u.s to get another vaccination supplement(i.e I-693A) or just submit the one given to him in Nigeria.

Thanks

The originals of each document is very important.

Original 1-134'S and co sponsor 1-134 if you have it.
Employment letter-original, Photocopies of tax forms i.e 1040 forms but notorized. 3 photocopies of recent pay stubs from your fiance.

Note the Affidavit of support is the most important document cos the lagos embassy wants to see that you would be supported in the U.S and not become a Public charge.

Also get her to send you a Bank letter that tells the lagos embassy, how much is in her account, the total amount of deposit till current and other neccessary banking info

Another updated Fiance letter of intent
Complete photocopies of each pages in the I-129F package.(it may not be needed at the interview)

Lots of evidence showing on-going communication i.e E-mails with endearing words like sweetheart, darling, babe,, you know all the works,
Sample phonecards if you have, Greeting cards that she sends or sent to you. You know anything establishing the fact that you are still very much in love and communicating.

Thank you all for such helpful responses.

To make it a bit clearer, my joint sponsor doesn't have any dependents, she lives by herself. I don't know why the CO decided she didn't make enough money to sponsor my husband, since it was just the 2 of them on the affidavit, but that was his decision i guess and now we must comply and get another joint sponsor. All of this is just so much, but i love my husband immensely and will do what i can to bring him home to me and his children.

Thank you and good luck to everyone!

Hey you,
I am assuming you are already married, the co-sponsor would have to cover both of you so in other words, 3 people would have to be satisfied by the CO through the co-sponsor.

Somebody correct me if this is incorrect.
olutayo82FemaleNigeria2006-08-08 15:59:00
Africa: Sub-Saharanhelp
To answer this question, the co-sponsor has to be able to meet the 125% poverty level including the co-sponsor and who he or she is sponsoring. The people needing sponsorship would have to be included so if the USC and the beneficiary are the only ones, the cosponsor without no dependents would have to cover himself/herself along with the USC and beneficiary so in this case, you would have to look at the 125% Level under 3 people. SO basically, she needs the income to cover 3 people. Assuming this is clear.

My question is this. What about her three dependants. Are they counted also towards the minimum proverty level?

I Thought the co-sponsor has no dependents.
