Does that mean we can't bring our phones inside???

I don't really wanna be in a new place with no access to anything it feels really strange in a sense...Also all that paperwork and evidence we have is like quite alot we had it all in a backpack of sorts.

Another thing

Consular-Related Visitors

The following persons may accompany a visa applicant during Consular-related visits:

  • Interpreter: Applicants may bring one interpreter if they do not speak English well enough to participate in an interview.

Note: The working language of the U.S. government is English. The applicant is responsible for providing a translator for any language other than English, even if that language is an official language of Canada, i.e. French.

  • Special Needs Visitors: Applicants may bring one person to help if they are elderly, disabled, or if the applicant is a minor child applying for a visa.

Due to waiting room size, the large volume of applicants and the time required to screen consular clients, other accompanying persons cannot be admitted to the waiting room.

Drivers, friends, and extra relatives must wait outside or return to meet the applicant after the interview has been completed. The sole exception to this rule is applicants with minor children under the age of 18.

Attorneys, agents, accountants, or employers accompanying visa applicants will not be permitted to accompany clients into the waiting room or at their interviews without prior approval.

Does this mean I as the spouse can't come in? Just double checking our interview is in the morning any help is greatly appreciated.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNVC Filers - February 2014

She'll need to order a "certified copy" of her birth certificate.  Perhaps that's the kind of "copy" she already has.  A photocopy of a certified copy won't satisfy NVC.  Don't confuse an "original" with a "certified copy".  The original is not available.  It's on file with the applicable government agency that issues certified copies.

Will have to check and see if she has a certified copy or not. The thing about it being on file is that it would be in India and we have no means of getting from there. She was born in Mumbai in 1993

Waiting for case # from NVC at the moment

Just curious the wife is from Mississauga right around Toronto

Are we automatically going to have to do everything in Montreal?

I notice Montreal proceedings are different than alot of other places so I was wondering if I should be following those instructions or do I not know where her interview and stuff will be until I get case #

thank you for any input.

Yup, petitioners are allowed inside the consulate as well as into the same interview room as the beneficiary. I saw a fellow VJ petitioner/beneficiary do this when I was there :)

But, for Montreal, it's definitely not needed for the petitioner to be there. Montreal is one of the easiest places to go through. Unless you have some red flags or if the petitioner is living in Canada and needs to prove domicile, then don't bother wasting money on a flight to Montreal for the petitioner.

But I so bored x.x I just wanted an excuse to fly down and see my wife lol

And her nervousness is really really bad

Because this whole thing started when she went to Canada from New York for the weekend to just pick up her Winter clothes (Before we realized that there was even going to be an immigration issue ahhh young naive love)

They stopped her and said you can't just come and go as you please your married to a US Citizen and fingerprinted her and like took a picture and it really freaked her out you know. She felt like a criminal. It was so unexpected. So ever since she has quite the fear of this whole process and wanting it to go as smooth as possible.

Please be happy for a July interview, please, some of us will be waiting 6 to 8 months to get an interview.  (F) (L) (F)  Again congratulations.

Yes your 100% right I didn't think of all the people who have issues or have to wait twice as long for the same info..Sorry >.<

The email with the interview schedule is a different email.

The case complete email won't. That email is just to say your case is complete.

Once your case is complete, your case is put into queue for an interview date to be assigned. An interview date isn't assigned at the same time as case complete.

Once your case is scheduled for an interview, then you'll receive the interview letter which contains the date and time, along with other interview information.

Makes alot of sense thank's alot. It seriously does suck the happiness outta you though to think now it's all just another waitfest but at least there isn't really a ton of paperwork involved this time and checklist this and that so yay I shall remain at this level of happiness forever more.

Just curious Saylin when you went for the Montreal interview which I will be going to as well did they allow petitioner and beneficiary to be together during interview process or was petitioner told to wait outside or something?

As others have stated, it takes about 7 days to receive the case complete email from the actual case complete date.

And the case complete email doesn't contain any medical or interview information. Even the interview letter doesn't have medical information. You get this yourself online through NVC's website.

I highly suggest you click on the NVC Process wiki link in my signature and read the last few steps at NVC to familiarize yourself with the process.

Will do so immediately thank you for everything so far. So wait the email won't even have the date to go for the interview?

The case complete email will be sent in about 7 days after case complete.

It is very generic and does not provide any further instructions:

Here is what I got:

"NVC Case Number: CSB20146xxxxxx

Dear Sir or Madam:

The National Visa Center has received all documentation necessary to complete pre-processing
of your case. As soon as an interview date has been scheduled, the applicant, petitioner
and attorney (if applicable) will be notified.

The applicant should NOT make any travel arrangements, sell property, or give up employment
until the US Embassy or Consulate General has issued a visa.

The US Embassy or Consulate General may require additional documentation at the time of
the interview. Additional documentation requirements if applicable can be referenced at

Sincerely,

Beneficiary's Name:

Priority Date: 17-JUL-13"

CONGRATS on your case complete. July scheduling should start sometime this week!!!!!!

My god that's so sick thanks for the info

but seriously July??? So no chance of an interview date in June that's rather annoying to say the very least its still like a two month wait if that's the case. Should be happy the hardest part is said and done though I can imagine...Is there a link in the email or something that lets you know how to schedule medical and stuff?

Help me!

Should I be happy??????????????????

Case complete was on the 23rd. Just found out today!!

That's good no? Amazing even right??

My happiness is kind of confused because it's the 27th. and no email with no further information such as scheduling medical and or interview has arrived...

The super awesome lady on the phone said she has no clue when the email will arrive and told me I can do nothing but sit and wait....

Any clue how long normally an email takes to arrive?

It's like I wanna scream so loud but then it doesn't feel like it's complete sigh* I weird probably but this means no more checklists and such right?

Congratulations, so happy for you! Please let me know how long it really takes for delivery and where are you located.

Hey the package for my wife came a few days ago.

So it came to Mississauga on lets say Monday the 21st. then she emailed the Loomis people and told them she would like it couriered to her the few was like 20$ or so. It arrived on Wednesday.

To be safe we booked a ticket beforehand for August 6th.

On Monday we said to ourselves no that's wayyyy too far so then we booked a ticket for July 31st. Payed 80$ for the new flight date and they waived the 200$ change flight fee...

We picked that date to give the courier ample time...

He arrived like two days later and we were just like YAY the 31st. is too far away xD

So just called again paid a 109$ fee got the 200$ fee waived again and got a flight for Monday lol as you can tell we are just way too excited. Anyways best of luck to you and everyone else on their journey!

Will let you know her experience going through customs or w.e. it's called cause that's what she is most worried about.

Thanks!

Hey!! I have returned and we have passed through the interview phase!!

Visa package and stuff will be mailed to my wife's home in about a week or two then off to the states~~

It was awesome...

Let's see first off the interview was so fast I didn't realize we were being interviewed by the person I thought it was someone just asking simple questions necessary to get us to the interview phase.

After the girl was like okay so i'm going to approve your interview I was like wait what xD

Don't want to sell you on a dream of super simplicity and I can only speak about our experience but it was insane.

Got there @ 8am. our appointment was at 10am.

oh big thing

DON'T bring like any big bags or backpacks or anything I think max a small purse

Any paperwork carry in hand.

They don't allow anything inside the consulate site even says no cell phones but we thought that was too insane in 2014 so we brought ours along and they take it at security and give you a number to retrieve it when you leave so no big deal.

Also hmmm what else.....

Oh right when you go in there is something called loomis that we were already supposed to have registered for but I don't remember any guide here talking about it or mentioning it.

It's the service they use to track your greencard or something like that. You definitely have to have it or they give you the form right when you walk in and you gotta go outside and call and register the whole process takes like 5 minutes and you talk to a live person but in that 5 minutes like 4 people went ahead of us.

What else can I think of. Bring some change cause they have snack machines which is a plus but honestly neither one of us could eat.

The person we got was really chilled out and relaxed and asked simple direct questions.

We had 4 binders full of pictures and chat logs and call logs and info for days and days.

After she said okay you guys are good and approved I was like "ARE YOU SURE YOU DON'T WANT TO SEE ANY OF THIS EVIDENCE ITS ALL SO ORGANIZED AND AWESOME"

She said thank you but no its fine I can see you went through a lot of effort and thank you for it lol.

Maybe just having the ton of evidence on deck like waiting to be shown was enough for them who knows

Also its a quick stand up at a window type of thing.

We were expecting some room with a sit down and like two sided glass or something lol but it was really fine.

Also have your ds-260 confirmation with the barcode they ask for that right when you go into the building.

We didn't have it but during the whole loomis confusion the girl forgot about it and we just kept it moving.

Other then that, that's about all the advice I can think of. Legit took 3 minutes max still blows my mind but every case is different i'm sure.

The longest part was the first time you have to go to the window to present original stuff like police certificate and birth certificate and marriage certificate and such.

Best of Luck to you and everyone else can't wait to hear how your interview went!!

Great , that is why I asked if you got an expedite.  I hope I am lucky and I get an interview mid August.  Another question how long it took to get an email CC and interview day?

Thank you and please let us know what they ask, I want to be prepared.   ;)

I believe it was like 5 business days so no worries the interview date thing is pretty soon

You should google or the info is actually on here and look up where you live

My wife is in Mississauga so she had to go downtown Toronto for her medical. You can make the appointment through email I believe.

Just get the site up so you know exactly where you need to go and set up for the medical.

We got the medical done like two days after the interview letter came.

Making a note now to come back on and let you know how the interview went. Saylin and a few others said its really not necessary for me (the husband) to go to the interview with her but I decided why not it can't hurt.

I noticed majority of the forms are filed online and I been using the Montreal guide as my savior.

As far as I know, Indian municipalities don't issue ORIGINAL birth certificates. I believe they give original when child is born, and there after they issue certified copies. Certified copies issued from indian municipality are accepted to submit. Does she know anyone in India who lives in same municipality/city she was born in? Getting certified copy from there doesnt take more than few mins as long as someone can go there and mail to her.

I got approved so while we are getting everything together my wife realizes she does not have an original birth certificate.

She was born in India but lives in Canada now as a citizen there.

Is it possible to get her original without having to go to India or will they accept the copy for what it is and realize hey we don't have an original it's okay?

Curious we filed for I130 back in August and got transfer to CSC the other day

We also filed I129F just cause the wait was so horrid like around November. It also got transferred to CSC.

I would want to just focus on the I130 so I was wondering if the I129F stuff can be ignored? If I don't pursue or check up on it is there a problem with that?

Or if the I129F comes through first do I have to go through with that? Cause I may be wrong but its overall better to get 130 no?

If your transfer has gone to CSC it seems that likely your approval (NOA2) will come within a week or two. Then you will move on to NVC, where you will need to prepare your affidavit of support and your wife will fill in an online form or 2 and you'll pay a couple more fees.

Then your file moves on to the US embassy in Montreal where your wife will have her medical and interview!

It seems like from NVC on out, we (petitioners and beneficiaries) have much more control over our destinies, and they go much faster, as long as we're prepared!

Congrats on your transfer!

Thank you very much I will keep everyone posted and thank you to everyone who replied I have alot more confidence going into this thing now I very much feel not alone hehe

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresMontreal NVC Question

Can you tell me where the discrepancy is?

The I-864 isn't an online form. If you're joined to EP, then you email it. Otherwise, you snail mail it.

hmmm maybe that's where i'm confused does the joined to EP mean this part

Enroll Email for Electronic Processing

As soon as you have your case number and have given the operator your email addresses, it?s time to send in the enroll email.

Email address: NVCElectronic@state.gov

Subject line: ENROLL MTLXXXXXXXXXX

  • Insert your case number instead of the X?s.

Body of the email:

Petitioner?s full name: First name, middle name, last name

Petitioner?s date of birth: Month, date, year

Petitioner?s email address: [insert email address]

Beneficiary?s full name: First name, middle name, last name

Beneficiary?s date of birth: Month, date, year

Beneficiary?s email address: [insert email address]

  • Make sure you double check the case number you put in the subject line and the information in the body of the email. Don?t forget you need to include ?ENROLL? as the first part of the subject line. If it?s not there, it won?t get accepted.

Meaning this part has to be approved and if I get back a favorable email then I can send it Electronically over being snail mail?

But this email ^ has to be done correct no?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresChecklist Cover letter??? Help!!

This statement is false.  The case in question is an immigrant visa case now at the National Visa Center.  Electronic filing through NVC, is definitely available for Canada.

To the OP, the evidence that the VJ NVC shortcuts are working, is that you receive requests for things already sent.  If you're certain you properly sent two separate emails with the correct information (full names and dates of birth for petitioner and beneficiary in the body of each email) then this is probably a "false checklist".  You can call and ask NVC if they have received your email, but it will still take them three or four weeks to review them and complete the case or send a true checklist.

YAY!! ty you so much for the response!

We received electronic documentation for this case. Please allow up to 20 business days from the day the email was sent for the scanned attachments to be uploaded to the electronic case file and reviewed.

IMPORTANT:
Do not let more than one year pass without contacting the NVC concerning this visa petition. If a period of one year passes from the last date of contact (by telephone, mail, or e-mail) with the NVC, all submitted fees and documents expire. If this occurs, the fees must be paid again and documents must be resubmitted in order to continue the immigration process.

As this case is processing electronically, all forms and documents must be sent via email as scanned attachments to NVCElectronic@state.gov.  Sending physical documents to the NVC will delay the processing of your case.

Basically saying they received the AOS supporting documents!!

They say give them 20 days from when I sent the email but in that case they only have about 2 business days till that point. So does that mean they will try and be done or do I give them 20 days for this email I just got?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresChecklist Cover letter??? Help!!

Hello and thank you in advance for any help.

Basically electronic processing meaning emailed everything.

emailed in all the forms including the AOS and supporting documents.

Now I got a checklist saying they never received the AOS and the supporting documents like the birth certificate marriage certificate etc.

I sent both emails at the same exact time.

So I called today and she basically said if I sent everything out already including the AOS supporting documents I have to wait the 30 days for them to review it.

So you think this checklist is just an automated thing cause they didn't get to the second email as of yet?

Should I resend the AOS supporting documents or leave it be for the full 30?

As far as 30 business days I am at about 16 btw.

Any input would be great
